Weiss and Ruby land on the ground thanks to Articuno flying them both to the landing area outside of Beacon. Weiss quickly returns the Legendary to her Ultra Ball.
"What's the big deal?" says Ruby. "Who is it? Who is she?"
"Winter..." says Weiss happily.
"Wait..." says Ruby. "Your sister?"
A woman in her early 20's emerges from the landed airship. She has Weiss's eyes and the same white hair, which is tied into a bun on the back of her head.
"Winter!" Weiss calls. She and Ruby run over as Winter turns around. "Winter! I'm so happy to see you! Your presence honors us." Weiss does a curtsy.
"Beacon," says Winter, who has two AK-200's standing on either side of her. "It's been a while. The air feels different."
"I mean, it is fall, so it would make sense," Ruby says.
Weiss elbows Ruby. "So," she says. "What are you doing here?"
"Classified," Winter answers.
"Oh, right,' says Weiss. "How long are you staying?"
"Again, classified." Winter narrows her eyes.
"Of course." Weiss nods her head.
Ruby straightens herself. "Well, this is nice...I think."
"You're going to love it here!" Weiss gushes. "I know you travel a lot, but Beacon is so much different from Atlas. So is Vale! The government and school are completely separate! Can you believe it?"
"I'm more than familiar with how Vale handles its bureaucracy," Winter deadpans. "But that is not why I came."
"Right," says Weiss. "Sorry."
"Nor did I come here to watch my own sister fail so miserably in battle," Winter sighs. "But it appears I have no say in that matter." Winter mutters under her breath. "That bird creature...could she have mastered her...no, probably not."
"We won though!" Weiss says.
"Only a novice would call that a victory," Winter says. "I counted at least three strikes missed." Winter raises her hand to the AK-200's. "Leave us."
The two AK-200's back away slowly into the airship.
Winter sighs. "How have you been?"
"Oh, splendid!" Weiss chirps. "Thank you for asking. I'm actually among the top ranking in our sparring class. Behind Pyrrha and my boyfriend, of course. But the rest of my studies are going wonderful, too! I-"
Winter smacks Weiss's temple. "Silence, you dingus! I don't recall asking about your ranking. I asked how you've been. Are you eating properly? Have you made any friends? Have you taken up new hobbies?"
"Well, there's Ruby here." Weiss gestures to the hooded Huntress next to her.
"I see," says Winter. "So this is the leader of whom you wrote. How appropriately...underwhelming."
"Uhh...thanks..?" says Ruby.
"Greetings, Ruby Rose," says Winter Schnee. "I wish to thank you for taking an interest in my sister."
"You're welcome!" says Ruby.
"Seeing as I'm early," Winter says, "sister, why don't you introduce me to this 'boyfriend' you spoke so highly of in your letters? I wish to see if he's truly what you've cracked him up to be."
"Oh, of course!" Weiss says. "Trust me, Winter, when you meet Aris, you'll know what I mean."
As Weiss and Winter walk ahead, someone sneaks up behind the AK-200's that are further behind them, quickly taking down the autonomous soldiers. "Oi!"
Winter and Weiss turn. "Yeah," says a man with spiky black hair. "I'm talkin' to you, ice queen. No, the taller one."
An AK-200 begins advancing. "Halt!" Winter commands.
Weiss begins approaching the older man. "Excuse me, do you have any idea who you're talking to?"
The man pushes her away. "Not you, your sister."
"Hey!" Weiss exclaims.
The man stands in front of her sister, the space between them spanning a few meters. "You," he says, eyeing Winter angrily. "Saw that gaudy ship of yours in town. Guess you're here, too."
"What do you expect?" Winter deadpans. "I'm standing right before you."
"So it would seem," says the man.
"You do realize you just destroyed Atlas military property, right?" Winter asks.
"Ohhh, that," says the man, eyeing the downed AK-200's. "Sorry. Seems I mistook this for some kind of sentient garbage pile."
"I don't have time for your immature games, Qrow," Winter seethes.
"Wait," says Weiss, "you two know each other?"
"Jeez," says Qrow. "You Atlas specialists all think you're so special, don't you?"
"I mean, it is in the title," Winter points out.
"Ya wanna know what you really are?" Qrow jeers. "A buncha sellouts. Just like your boss."
"I'm not sure what you think you're implying," says Winter, "but I've heard enough."
"Oh, I heard too," says Qrow. "I heard ol' Ironwood turned his back on Ozpin."
"Ozpin?" Weiss asks.
Winter puts a hand on her sister's shoulder. "Weiss, I think you should leave for now."
"Listen to big sister, Weiss," Qrow taunts. "She'll protect you. Just like Atlas is gonna protect all of us, huh?"
Winter narrows her eyes. "If you won't hold your tongue," she draws her sword, "then I will gladly remove it for you!"
"Alright then," says Qrow. "Come and get some."
BGM: Spear of Justice - Undertale
Winter rushes at Qrow with impossible speed, stabbing at him with her sword. Qrow easily moves away by simply leaning from left to right.
The black-haired man slicks back his hair before drawing his own blade, a massive, single-edged sword with gears near the hilt.
Metal clashes with metal as Qrow and Winter begin to do battle with each other. Winter backflips to avoid Qrow's swings.
"What's going on?" Ruby says as she arrives on the scene.
"Some man just started attacking my sister!" Weiss exclaims.
"What?!" says Ruby. "Who would-waaaaiiit that's my uncle Qrow! Kick her butt, uncle Qrow!"
"Teach him respect, Winter!"
Winter transforms part of her sword's hilt into a parrying dagger as she jumps to a higher area of the structure surrounding Beacon. Qrow transforms his blade into a shotgun and starts firing.
Winter soon returns to the original site of the battle, stabbing her sword into the ground and causing a glyph to appear beneath her feet. A ghostly pale blue apparition of a flock of birds starts circling her before flying at Qrow, who resists with his sword.
The flock disappears.
Qrow does something surprising and puts away his sword, signalling for Winter to come at him. She does, using a glyph to propel herself. Qrow draws his blade to block, as expected, but what isn't expected is this.
Suddenly, two figures rush into the battlefield, intercepting Winter and Qrow. Aris Atreides stands before Qrow, blocking the man's large sword with his own blade, the Master Sword. His companion is his Gallade, who is using his bladed forearms to block Winter's sword.
End BGM
"Schnee!" says a deep voice.
Winter turns and stands at attention. "General Ironwood, sir!"
"What in the world do you think you're doing?" Ironwood asks as Aris and Gallade flee the scene quickly.
"He started the altercation, sir," Winter says.
"Actually, not true," Qrow says. "She attacked first."
"Is that right?" says Ironwood.
Winter sighs and lowers her head.
Ironwood turns his attention to Qrow. "And you." He approaches the man. "What are you doing here?"
"I could be asking you the same thing," Qrow says.
Before Ironwood can respond, a new voice cuts him off. "Now, now, everyone." It's Professor Ozpin. "There is a sanctioned fight happening just around the corner at the Colosseum. I can assure you it has better seats, as well as popcorn."
"Break it up, everyone!" Professor Goodwitch orders. "We'll take care of the mess."
Ironwood marches off with his AK-200's, as well as a familiar ginger-haired android girl.
Some time later...
Weiss and Winter are training together in the Emerald Forest. They've just finished dispatching a pack of Beowolves. "So, you're leaving?" Weiss says.
"Unfortunately, yes," Winter says. "I was merely needed to oversee the transport of additional units to Vale. Our last shipment ran into an ambush, and I believe you met its cargo. Luckily, those Paladins were still in the prototype stage."
"That does seem like a good thing," Weiss agrees. "But before you go, I want to see if I can introduce you to Aris."
"Aris?" says Winter. "Is he your boyfriend?"
Weiss nods. "Yep! He gave me this a couple of weeks ago."
Weiss throws her Ultra Ball and out comes Articuno.
"Whoa," says Winter.
"Meet Articuno," says Weiss. "He's a Legendary Pokemon that Aris encountered after we finished taking care of those Grimm in Vale. He gave him to me after we returned to Beacon."
"If this Articuno really is as legendary as you make it out to be," says Winter, "why didn't he keep it?"
"I don't know," Weiss says. "Maybe he just wanted me to have him. Well, that and he already has a full team of six rather powerful Pokemon."
A voice yells from the sky, "You two yappin' about me down there?"
Weiss looks up. Up in the sky is Aris, on the back of his Salamence. "Aris!" Weiss calls. "Down here! I want you to meet someone!"
Aris nods and nudges Salamence to fly down to Weiss. Just before the Dragon type lands, Aris jumps off his back and lands after doing a forward somersault in midair. He lands with a graceful bend of his knees. Aris winces. "Ngh, superhero landing. Really hard on the knees."
"That's going to hurt in the morning," Weiss jokes.
Aris smirks. "Yeah, no crap." He gets up. "So, who did you-" He notices Winter. "Oh. I see. You've cloned yourself."
Winter sighs and puts a palm to her forehead. Aris laughs. "Kidding, kidding. You're Winter Schnee, right? Weiss's sister?"
Winter nods. "Yes, I am. And you're Aris Atreides, I presume?"
Aris nods. "At your service."
Winter leans towards Weiss's ear and whispers, "He certainly looks as cute as you described."
"I heard that," Aris says. "And I'm not that cute..."
Weiss laughs. "Sure."
Winter smiles at Aris. "I want to thank you for...putting up with my sister for all this time."
"Actually, I like to think she puts up with me," Aris says. "But, you're welcome all the same."
Winter laughs. "I see you have a sense of humor."
"Don't get him started on his puns," Weiss says. "Yang's been rubbing off on him."
"Aw, c'mon," Aris says. "I think they're pretty...cool."
Weiss puts a palm to her face. "Really?"
"Yeah," says Aris. "But you're way cooler. As in, both badass and icy. I like that about you."
A voice from the forest. "Pika pika!"
Pikachu bounds in, carrying a berry.
"Pikachu!" Aris says. "You found an Oran berry for me?"
Pikachu nods. Aris takes the berry and pops it in his mouth. "Mmm, good." He picks up Pikachu and sets the Electric type on his shoulder. "Did Weiss tell you about my Pokemon, Winter?"
"Yes," Winter affirms. "And she showed me Articuno, the one that you gave her. Is this 'Pikachu' of yours a Pokemon?"
"Yep," says Aris. "An Electric type, to be exact. Articuno is an Ice/Flying type. I have other Pokemon, too."
"May I see them?"
Aris nods. "Sure." He throws four PokeBalls in the air, and out come his Pokemon. "Meet...Decidueye, Rapidash, Gallade, Lapras, Salamence is the one I flew in on, and Pikachu is here on my shoulder."
"Interesting," says Winter. "I see you went for a variety of different kinds instead of just one."
Aris nods. "Yep. That's the key to building a good Pokemon team. You always want to have a counter Pokemon for any Pokemon you may encounter. So, for example, if a Flying type were to appear, I could send out Pikachu and just shock it out of the sky."
"But can you fight without your Pokemon?" Winter asks.
"Oh, sure," Aris says. "Did it for a long time, actually. Been fighting since I was little."
Growling from the forest. A rather large pack of Beowolves appears. Aris smirks and quickly returns his Pokemon, save for Pikachu, who goes to Weiss. "Watch this," Aris says. "Witness the power of Hyrule's champion!"
BGM: Hyrule Field 1 - Hyrule Warriors
Aris draws the Master Sword and Hylian Shield for battle.
The first Beowolf pounces him, only to be slashed in half by the Sword That Seals the Darkness. The second Beowolf gets a shield-bash to the forehead before succumbing to a flurry of attacks. Aris takes out his bow and shoots the third and fourth with arrows. A fifth Beowolf falls to a Remote Bomb from Aris's Sheikah Slate.
"Watch this trick!" Aris says as he confronts the final Beowolf after having killed all the others. He takes out another Remote Bomb and places it on the ground before rushing the final Beowolf with a large metal hammer in hand. He uses the hammer-known as the Megaton Hammer-to smack the Grimm at the Remote Bomb, which he then detonates via his Sheikah Slate. Aris jumps high into the air, performing an aerial Spin Attack, propelling himself slightly higher while still slicing up the airborne Beowolf. The Grimm goes flying off into the distance, dead.
End BGM
Aris twirls the Master Sword in a figure-8 before sheathing it and putting his shield on his back.
Winter thinks for a moment. "A worthy fighter," she says. "I'll say that. The little trick you performed at the end there was quite clever."
Aris blushes a little. "D'oh, stop it..."
"In all seriousness though, Aris," Winter says, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I acknowledge your skill as a fighter, and I approve of your relationship with my sister. But, I want you to promise me something."
Aris nods. "Anything."
Winter looks him dead in the eyes. "Protect her. Keep her safe. Be there for her when I can't."
"I'll protect her with my life," Aris says. "Not a single hair on her head will be harmed."
Winter smiles. "Good. And if you break her heart...or take advantage of her..."
"You'll kill me?"
"No," Winter says. "I'll make sure you suffer for the rest of your life, to the point where death would be merciful."
Aris nods. "I'd never dream of hurting the woman I love."
Winter smiles again. "You really do love her, don't you?"
Aris smirks. "You have no idea."
"More than anything." Aris hugs Weiss. "She's my entire world."
Winter looks at the couple. "You two really look cute together."
Aris smiles. "So I've been told. Should we head back?"
Winter nods. "Yes. I'll be leaving in about an hour."
"Alright then."
Aris heads to Beacon cliff with the Schnee sisters, happy that Winter has approved of his relationship with Weiss.
