…
Alexander
…
"How… why?" My mind was still trying to process what I was living.
Lane let out a hair-rising laughter. "Oh your highness, you are so naive" he paced around us. "Did you really think that I was being so nice to you because you had given me a strong impression?" his words were ruthless, cruel.
I felt my chest rise and fall quickly, the air seemed to have become thinner, the clouds above us darker.
"You are so weak, Alexander. So, very fragile" he whispered. "I bet you can't stop this," he said to my ear.
In a blink of an eye, Ilaria and Lane were gone.
I fell to my knees. Thinking, or rather, my thoughts were so blank. I had forgotten everything I was for a second. Leaving me repeating a sentence in my head.
I am weak. I can't stop him.
…
Ilaria
…
I opened my eyes. Through a black fog, I could catch a sight of the palace in Twilight, which made me change to my Twili form. The Master Sword, gone.
"Unfortunate that I didn't kill you. Don't you think?" Lane said.
I turned. Lane was lying his back on a wall. His black cape moved with the wind.
I squinted my eyes.
"You are the boy, the one who attacked the palace years ago" I said.
His mouth curved upwards, but not in a sympathizing manner. "Yes. I was the one who killed your father" he said bluntly.
My heart rate increased. Each beat filled with rage. I wanted to charge at him, finish his existence, how could he…
I sighed. I needed to control myself, not act by my emotions only. "Why did you do it?" I asked.
He looked to the palace and started walking towards it. "Why? Such a mediocre question to minimize my intentions" he threw his cape over his shoulder and unsheathed a black sword and pointed at me with it. "Simple. You were the only obstacle in our god's plan"
"Obstacle?" I said.
He nodded. "A hero that could connect both sides of the coin. A menace to the plan"
"Plan" I repeated.
He laughed. "Why do you repeat everything I say?"
I shook my head and prepared my power. "If you have energy to joke around, you wouldn't mind if I stroke first!"
I summoned a portal and appeared above Lane. "Take this!" I shouted. I aimed a shadow at his head. But he deflected it with his own sword.
"Nice try, hero," he said looking up at me. "But you'll need more than that"
I blinked.
...
We were underwater, I was in my hylian form.
Lane laughed in the distance. "This is going to be easier than I thought!"
I inhaled instinctively, the surface was so far ago. I searched my pockets, where was it?
I flinched. I was suffocating.
"Yes! Just like that! Hurry up and die!" in a tornado of bubbles, Lane charged at me with his sword, he had his mask on.
Desperately, I felt my pockets. The air was leaving my lungs. Lane was getting closer. I was going to die either from drowning, or from a sword cut. Great.
I felt the mask and put it on. Air. I was breathing. "Yes!"
I took out the rest of the armor and put it on, the armor was blue and surprisingly it did have a hat. I swam away from Lane's reach. "Woah, this is fast!" I said. I couldn't help but smile. "Thank you, Lavette"
Lane looked at me with disdain. "That blasted armor"
I prepared my sword and swam at Lane. "Now it's my turn!"
Lane was stabilizing himself, so I caught him off-guard. My sword wounded his torso, painting the nearby water with blood.
"No! I won't lose to you!" he shouted.
I blinked again.
...
We were in Kakariko. A massive see through insect rampaged through the main road.
"Let's see how you do against it!" Lane shouted from a nearby balcony.
I growled and stormed towards the insect. I was running on all fours. My beast form was helping me be faster.
The insect expelled lightning and equally attacked me, but I jumped at it. My fangs crunching and injuring the insect's abdomen.
I released it, and it exploded.
I looked at Lane and barred my fangs, challenging him. He clenched his fists. "That's it! You will perish!" he extended his hand at me.
I blinked one last time.
...
I was in the throne room of Hyrule Castle.
Lane threw his cape to the air. A dangerous glow in his eyes.
"I'm overly irritated right now," he said. His hair over his eyes. "For our god's eternal peace and unlimited power. I will kill you!"
I unsheathed my sword and combed my hair back. "The peace you want, is nothing but an act of an egocentric whim. Not thinking about anybody else you could harm, the homes you could destroy, the lives you could change" I looked at him. "It's repulsive and I won't let you ruin my realms!"
I shouted and stroke.
Lane and I exchanged blows. Gusts of wind emerged, the shock waves destroying balconies and walls.
"You won't overpower me!" Lane screamed.
The Master Sword was engulfed in blue light, his words couldn't distract me. I had to focus, I had to win. For my friends… my family.
I spun and slashed his torso again, making him fall. I screamed and jumped, pushing the tip of the sword, straight through his chest.
Lane screamed and tried to throw me to the side, but I had him pinned at the floor. I looked at his eyes with pity. "Too bad you chose that side, Lane" I jumped off him.
He struggled, the sword still in his chest. I took it out, making him gasp. "You won't win anything from this! The curse will follow your spirit, whichever form it takes, you won't escape it, neither you or the prince" he spit out blood. "Ganondorf, with the un-" he coughed. "Unlimited power, he could break it. We could have found- peace. Both realms being controlled by him. No more- wars-"
I started walking away, but turned around and walked to his side. I put one knee on the floor. Looking at his face. "Lane"
He sniffled a tear rolled out of his eye.
"I forgive you," I said. "I hope the Goddesses treat you well in the afterlife"
Lane gave a final shaky breath, and died.
...
The scene changed. I was in Ordon, but no one else was there.
It was night time, only the dimly lit torches made the colors lively.
"Alexander?! Chris?! Jaiden?! Chares?!" I yelled.
No response.
I turned around. Lane's corpse was on the ground. I moved my head to the side, wondering why he was there.
Useless.
My blood was turned to ice. That… voice…
Useless, nothing but that. Don't you think? Hero?
I looked around and grabbed my dad's bow with shaky hands. "W-where are you?"
He laughed.
That sound, bringing me dreadful memories.
You have become stronger, that's true. Well, I'm not far away from being summoned to this world. It will be interesting to confront you.
The voice scowled.
I have more followers who are giving their lives for mine. Not that I care for any of them. They are all rubbish.
I fired an arrow with my shaky hands, the voice laughed.
Save your strength, hero…
The voice went away, and the night with it.
I fell to my knees. Lane was beside me, on the floor. I dropped my bow and my sword to the ground.
"I murdered someone…" I muttered. "I'm a murderer"
My dad materialized at my side and grabbed my shoulder. The surroundings were white and shimmery.
"You did well," he said. "I am with you, remember"
I nodded. "Thanks, dad. I… I have avenged you"
He shook his head. "Vengeance is never the answer, Ilaria. Remember that"
I smiled. "Alright"
My dad messed my hair. "Go with your friends now"
I blinked.
I was back in Ordon.
