Derrick and Lee tried to follow the convoy of trucks from the ski lodge, but they were too fast for them. They knew they were on borrowed time, so they had one idea.
After several days of walking, they found their way back to the ruins of Ridgedale, hoping to find a answer. The buildings still had smoke, several bodies were all over the area, but no one alive.
"Watch out for walkers, don't let your guard down," said Lee, as they entered the town hall, where most of the high personnel used to mostly be. It was ransacked, the armory still had some rounds, to their delight, but no one around.
Lee went into Clay's office. He went through paperwork, which wasn't relevant to what they were looking for. He found a map, and started looking through it.
"New camp...?" a large red circle was drawn on the map, quite far from Ridgedale.
"We're taking a wild guess here. How do we know if they're even there?" Asked Derrick.
"Only one way to find out. There's a truck outside. Prep it, I'm going to look for supplies," said Lee, as he searched the next few rooms for supplies. He'd get back to Clementine, one way or another.
"So, did you tell the rest?" Asked Bonnie, as the pair continued with their job.
"Yeah, Julius told us about the PA system too. We just need to figure out how to get it working without getting caught," replied Clem.
"Yeah. That'll work, but remember, we have them walkers against us, and the clock."
"We talked about it. We'll go through them. Jane knows how to, we just need to time it."
"I don't feel comfortable going through walkers clementine, there must another way-"
"There isn't. It's our best shot at leaving, that's it," she lashed back.
"Clay has this place locked down tight. Whatever yall are plannin', I'm hoping it works out,"
"Bonnie, is the girl with you? Clay has a job for here so send her topside," said a voice via radio.
"Well, there's your cue. Be careful Clem, Clay doesn't respect anyone."
She nodded, as she headed to the second floor, to Clay's office.
"The job I'm sending you on is simple. Bring these supplies to the guys working on the fence outside, then go back with Bonnie. Understood?"
"Got it." she said, as she grabbed some of the tools and went out back, bumping into Zak on the way.
"Whoa Clem, stay safe. Clay called me up, I'm gonna see what's up." he entered the room, and was met with a fist to the nose, as he was pulled to a chair.
"Think you can just kill my men and go around without a punishment?"
"Fuck you," Zak coughed and spit blood onto his face.
"This'll be fun," he pulled out a knife and stabbed him in both the shoulders, causing him to almost faint from the pain.
Clem walked along the fence, watching Marshall aim at her with his rifle, and hearing the walkers on the other side of the fence made her nervous, but she managed, as she entered one of the stores where the guys were working.
"Here's the tools," she said, putting them down.
"I'm not about to become the slave of a fucking psycho!" said Kenny, throwing down the tool in his hand.
"Hey, I don't know what the fuck your problem is man, but we're all doing our damn job here," said Julius, as he shoved his finger in Kenny's chest.
"Well then you're a dumbass if you're being told to do something!"
"Guys, enough," said Mike, and he and Jaylan tried to separate them.
"You want to do this shit? Fine! But don't co-" Their shouting attracted enough walkers to bring down the fence and breach the store, breaking the glass. One of them grabbed Clem and pulled her in.
"No!" she struggled against its weight as she reached into her pocket for the knife, as she killed it and quickly got up, seeing more of them enter.
"Jesus!" Mike tripped against the light, leaving them in darkness.
Clem took out most of them, but there were still too many of them, as she ran into the backroom. She was almost corralled, as Marshall came in, Killing them all.
"Jesus, what the hell happened?! Can't fucking do anything without almost get yourself killed," he growled, as he left the store.
The rest of the guys were eventually forced to continue their labor, as Clem began to walk back towards the warehouse.
She kept walking, looking at her knife, full of walker blood. Mika would be upset if she saw the knife dirty, but then again, that's why she gave it to her. A hand suddenly came out from one of the stores and pulled her in. She could feel the hand on her mouth to keep her from yelling.
She was about to bite into it, when she saw the familiar Grey watch.
"Lee?!" she whispered.
The hand left her mouth.
"I'm here, Clem. I'm here," she turned around to look him in the eyes. It'd only been at the most 6 days since they were captured, but it was still the same old Lee, as the pair embraced in a warm hug. It reminded her of the RV, when they left the motel.
"How did you find us?"
"I went back to Ridgedale to find whatever I can. Look, I know how they work here, so I need you to be careful. Tell Kenny and the rest that I'm here, we have a camp down the woods. I'm working on a plan,"
Clem explained what the group and her had prepped in the last few days.
" I saw the PA system around the back. I'm not going to be able to do it, so this one is on you sweetpea. Do whatever you can to help, but don't put yourself in danger, okay? Try to meet me here, same time tomorrow. Now head back, before they notice us," they shared another quick hug as she rushed back into the warehouse. The group met back in the pen several hours later.
"I have no damn idea how Lee found us, but there's a plus," said Kenny.
"Do any one of you know where Zack is? He's been gone all day!" exclaimed Rosie, who was in distress.
"I... I did. Clay called him into his office. I didn't see him come out," replied Clem.
"What?!" she stood up in front of everyone.
"We aren't going anywhere until he's back here!"
"Chances are he's dead, and we ain't going to wait for someone else to die!" replied Kenny.
"You basted! How could you!" she sat back down, and started to cry.
"This isn't helping, Kenny." said Mika, as she tried to comfort her.
"Hell, we aren't letting one of us take us down! We have a plan, and as soon as we get it going, we're getting the hell outta here!" he said, as he pointed towards the gate.
"The horde'll be here any moment now. We gotta get that PA going." said Jane.
"We don't even know where the controls are!" said Kate.
Julius stepped up.
"The controls are in Clay's office. There's a switch to turn on the speakers outside the walls. Once it's on, someone needs to put something loud on." he wiped the sweat from his head.
"What can Lee help with? He's outside, in a better position then we are." added Mike.
"They had a camp set up deep in the woods. Maybe they can cover us, if we get attacked?" suggested Clem. She'd never been in this situation, so she was just throwing out ideas.
"Nah, these guys'll destroy us in seconds with their guns. We can blend in with the herd, it'll be harder for them," said Jaylan.
The group was in silence, until the shutter opened.
"My good old friend Zack told me about a plot? That you want to escape our community? Not a good idea," he said, as he held a golf club in his right hand.
Rosie ran up to the man.
"What did you do to him?! Where is he?!"
"He's not dead, if that's what you're wondering. He's out of it. But I'm telling all of you, right now. Any attempt at all, and you will all be paying the price."
Kenny huffed and puffed as he stood against him.
"You ain't shit without your army, huh?"
"If that's what you think? You're wrong," he took a swing at Kenny's head with the golf club, knocking him to the ground.
"Kenny!" Clem tried to run towards him, in a attempt to help him, but was pulled back by Mika.
"Don't... You'll make it worse for him," she whispered in her ear, as Clem shed tears, watching her old friend take a beating.
Clay got up, with blood all over his shirt.
"This just the start. Any other games and it'll be worse then this shit!" he got up and closed the shutter, locking them in.
Despite being a girl, or what others considered, Clem's blood began to boil. She was turning 8nto what her life was, into what she saw. Soulless. She was fighting the violent side of her and tried to maintain her humanity, and it was working up to this point.
Mike and Julius pulled Kenny onto a bunk bed, carefully putting his head down. He was still alive, but he had taking most of the beating on his head. No one really knew if he'd wake up or not.
The next day, Kenny was still in a coma, but his body had displayed sort of movement. Clem had to help Mika replace some of the damaged tools where the walker breach had occurred.
Mika looked over the fence and could see the walkers, about 100 yards from the fence.
"They're getting closer. We're running out of time," she said, taking a deep breath.
Clem grabbed her hand and pulled her into the abandoned hardware store. She looked around, but didn't see Lee, as they had planned. They waited for a while, until they saw him behind some shelves.
They both quickly explained what had happened with Kenny, which made him sad and angry at the same time.
"At this rate, we're all gonna get killed by him. I rewired some of the speakers, so they should be able to be turned on now. You need to hurry. Take this," He reached into his back and pulled out the pistol Clem had found in Zone 2.
"Take care, now go. I'm going to make my way in, as best I can. Derrick is going to provide us cover, while you get the rest done, go!" the pair went back into the pen, hoping that Kenny would be able to get back on his feet.
"He's not responding, I'm afraid he's going to become a vegetable," said Omid, looking down on him.
"I ain't becoming shit," he moaned, as he reached out for his hand to pull him up.
"You're a tough son of a bitch, you know that?" said Jaylan.
"It'll take more then that to kill me."
"I'm going to turn on the speakers, we aren't going to wait for him to get another one of us. There has to be another way to his office," said Clem, determined.
"Through the roof. There's a set of windows right above it, we'll lift you up." said Jane, as her and Mike went over to the destroyed ladder, and boosted her onto it. She then climbed it halfway and looked back at them.
"Anything else?"
"Get back here Alive and we move onto part 2," said Kate.
She climbed up what was left of the ladder. There were several windows leading back into the warehouse. She looked over the edge, and could faintly see Lee moving in on the camp, taking out walkers and guards as quiet and as fast as he could.
"Gotta go," she jumped over to the other side and opened the window and jumped in. She saw the controls. She then plugged it in to the power, and heard moaning coming from behind.
She turned around and saw Zack, strapped to a chair, heavily beaten. He was still alive, but in pain. She switched on the speakers, but no noise came out.
"What the... Why?" she searched for a answer, and saw that there wasn't anything playing. She reached for a old disc and put it in. The speakers generated the music, causing alot of noise, that could probably be heard for miles.
"You got it.. Get Rosie out of here.. Please..." he groaned.
"What about you?"
"I ain't getting anywhere like this. You guys have a clear path... I'll... I'll hold them off.. Best I can," he groaned, as footsteps could be heard rushing up the steps.
Clem nodded, as she jumped onto the desk and climbed back onto the roof.
She saw Zack fire a few rounds, but was ultimately killed holding them off. She ran back to the pen, but saw that Clay had already rounded them up, on their knees.
"You all don't fucking listen, don't ya?! I said, no more fucking games!"
"I got the other one!" said Marshall, as he dragged Lee across the ground and threw him in with the rest.
"Well Lee. One of the best guards Ridgedale had, now a traitor. Walkers will surely enjoy your corpse when I'm finished with you," growled Clay.
"You're going down with this place, you hear?!" Lee yelled.
Clem noticed that the rest of the guards were too busy holding off the horde, so it was just Clay and Marshall. She pulled out her pistol, and steadily aimed at Clay, and fired, hitting him in the shoulder.
Jaylan tackled Marshall to the ground, while Lee kicked Clay in the knee, knocking him off his feet.
Clem slowly climbed back down.
"Fucking girl... I should have killed you when I had the chance," said Marshall as he was forced to the ground.
"Now we got the chance," Mika kicked him in the mouth with her boot, knocking out several teeth.
Bonnie headed over, with a backpack of supplies, as she joined forces with the group.
"Where is all this betrayal coming from? Bullshit," said Clay.
Jane opened the shutter towards the outside. The noise of walkers and gunfire was now louder.
"Time to go," she said.
"Wait where's Zack?" Asked Rosie worried.
Clem looked at her, but didn't reply. She gave her the look you get when something didn't go as planned.
Lee took Marshall's rifle as Jane pulled in a dead walker and proceeded to dissect it.
"Time for revenge," Kenny grabbed the gold club and began to beat Clay several times on the head, killing him instantly.
"This is gross," said Christa as they all covered themselves in walker scent.
"Remember how to do it Clem? Keep calm, and stay close to me," said Lee, as he finished covering her up.
"Yeah. We'll do it," she said, determined.
"Okay guys remember, don't stop for anything and keep going forward. There's a old park down the woods, we'll meet there," said Jane as she headed into the horde.
"Okay group. Keep calm, and don't panic. We'll make it," said Mika, as she took a deep breath and went into the horde.
Most of the group was already neck deep into the horde, while Lee and Clem were still at the shutter.
"I'm glad I found you. We just gotta get through the walkers, and we'll be free. Let's go," he said, as the pair went into the crowd of Dead.
