Rebekah's POV

I handed Aragorn his cloak back, picking up my weapons that had been transported from the boats.

"What do you know of Emyn Muil?" Aragorn asked me.

"I have traveled it in the past." I answered, tying my boots.

"Could you navigate it once again?"

Boromir walked away from the encampment while we discussed the journey.

I glanced at the elf, recognizing memory and amusement in his eyes. "My true form has been exposed, I will be able to fly ahead and navigate the path."

"Why was that not your idea in the past?" Legolas asked me.

"Your companions were not aware of my capabilities. That has ceased to be an issue within this Fellowship."

The others began to branch away, each going off on their own to rest and gather supplies.

Legolas stepped rather close to me, slipping into the tongue of the Fury. "You lied to them. You can touch the Ring if you so desire."

"Sauron will know if I so desire. I may be able to escape the forces he sends after us, but he will not relent. Neither shall his allies."

He nodded.

"Is that all that concerns you?"

"No. You fear what Boromir saw."

I began to braid my long black hair up out of my face. "If we have to pass by your father's realm, he may speak his knowledge to your brethren."

"Going to Mirkwood would bring us very far from Mordor."

"Going to my people would not."

"Do you honestly feel that that would become necessary?"

"I feel that if our path takes us towards Gondor, after what he has seen, I will be killed or collected."

"No man in Arda is capable of collecting you."

His face softened as he took notice of the look in my eyes.

"Many have tried. If we cannot destroy the ring, another will try again."

"You are not a prize to be kept. You are no one's pet."

I reached out and placed my very normal shaped fingers on his chin, stroking my thumb across the bone. "I chose you for these opinions, but you are one of the few that holds them."

I took my hand from his as I heard footsteps.

Samwise was looking up at us. "Did you really mean to kill Boromir?"

I knelt down to see his face. "My people have suffered at the hands of many men, because of what we are. That is a fear that drives me to act rather inappropriately at times."

"You are not afraid of Legolas."

"Perhaps that is because he is not afraid of me."

I felt the air within the trees shift suddenly. Turning my attention from the hobbit, I heard distant stomping through the trees.

Standing I looked back at the elf and hissed, grabbing the hobbit and pulling him back towards camp. "Come."

Legolas quickly readied his bow.
