Everybody was acting weird. To Shaun, sometimes they would give him understanding nods out of nowhere or sometimes they would do something that would annoy him. To Bitzer, everytime he was with his best friend, they would tease him with winks and kissing sounds. Probably the weirdest thing was when Timmy's mom found them sitting under the shadow of a tree and only said "Shirley owes me a snack".It was almost as if they knew what happened that morning, although Shaun promised he didn't tell.

It's been only a week and all they did was talk and help each other like they always did, their relationship didn't really change that much. Well, yeah, the way they leaned against the stone wall to talk was a bit too flirty and maybe the amount of times they touched was unnecesary. But still!

Tonight was the first rain in a week and even if he usually spends those nights in his doghouse, this time he excused himself to be with the flock. Shaun raised an eyebrow at this.

"It's not that stormy for you to come here"

"Oh, shut up" the sheep smiled.

"It's still nice having you here, Bitzer" the old ewe's welcoming, as warm as always.

There was a silence until the dog went to a shelf with books.

"Do you guys want some tale?" It's been a thing they had whenever there was a storm since they were younger. It helped the sheep to calm down. They all cheered to the idea.

"The cawboy tale!"

"Timmy, if he reads that one you won't sleep"

"The dragon one?"

"You always chicken out to that one"

"What about the one about the superhero?"

"That's a comic book, not a tale"

They all began to argue which one to read. Not like there were many options either way, some of them he got to read them twice.

"It's not really that stormy for you to read anything, actually…" He got ofended.

"Aww, but I want Bitzer to read us!"

"Yeah!"

"Me too!"

"See, Shaun? They want me to read them a tale" There was a smug smile at having the rest of the flock on his side.

"Oh yeah?" the smug smile was returned and Bitzer feared "Then what about the puppy love book you don't stop reading?" The small sheep grinned, naughty, making him blush. Everybody laughted.

"Yay! Love story!" bleated Nuts.

"No! Not that one! And you better shut your mouth!" He pointed directly at Shaun but he didn't feel threatened at all.

There was a collective 'aww' and a dissapointment in all the flock, with some pleading here and there, so he ended up angrily stomping back to his doghouse and coming back wet and with the book in his paw. Then everybody started nudging each other, whispering and 'awwing', this time in a cute way. It made him a bit nervous, even more than before, so when he started reading, his face turned all red and the stuttering was driving them crazy. At the end, the leader ended up taking the book from his paws and to read it calmly. Everybody was grateful.

It was interesting, but it wasn't a short tale. At some point he got interrupted by a loud snore, and looking up, he noticed almost everybody was already sleeping. Except for one yellow dog that always had problems to sleep, laying on his belly, arms crossed under his head, staring at him. When their eyes met, he smiled and his tail wagged happily above him.

"I'm sorry, I was curious about what the book said" Bleated softly, slowly putting the book in front of him. Bitzer placed a paw on his hoof before it left the book. Their relationship didn't change, but it did change, because everytime they were alone, he turned into the most gentle and cuddly being ever. Not like the sheep complained.

"It's ok"

With his poor hoof prisioner, he had no other option but to lay there too. Oh well.

"I liked it"

"You can borrow it if you want"

"Oh, thank you!"

Bitzer smiled even brighter.

"Why did you even want to read a story to begin with?"

"I feel like I was strict to them too, so I'm trying to fix it. To lighten up the mood" The sheep giggled.

"That stuttering sure did it" Bitzer frowned "I probably should have let you stutter it, though"

"You know I love it when you read stories"

"Hah, really? Well, reading stories is hard enough to call it a talent"

He puffed out his chest proudly, making the dog laugh.

"But you know I love it more when you invent them"

His tongue poked out from his grin, tail wagging faster. Shaun rested his head on top of the book with a sigh.

"You are such a puppy"

"Oh, well, I'm… a grown dog though" The sheep used his hoof to stroke his cheek and he melted at it.

"But you are cute like one" he looked up. Even inside the barn, his eyes sparkled as his mind was filled with stars. Bitzer leaned against his hoof waiting for his boyfriend to continue the story of the space dog and star sheep. His favourite.
