Side Story 1 - Suga: Camellia Blooms
Suga's POV (timeskip to they are now working as professionals)
After we graduated, we took different paths despite having the same profession. Misaki worked in the city hospital, Kaori worked in the hospital in their province, while I worked in my own clinic that my parents bought for me. Things have been hectic for us that we didn't have the time to catch up with each other. We're also living far away from one another so we couldn't meet up easily like before when we were still studying. I admit that without the two of them, my life became boring. They were the ones who brought color into my life but now that I don't have them by my side anymore, my life became dull again.
Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I love curing people but it gets tiring as well that I need that kind of rest wherein I'll unwind with my friends and such. I just hope that the three of us will hang out again even just for a short while.
My phone rang so I checked who's calling me. Oh, it's Kaori! "Hey, Kaori! What's up!" I heard her squeal after I spoke. "I missed you, Suga!" I smiled. "I missed you too, it's been a long while, eh?" She sighed. "Yeah, right.. but I have a shocking news.. and that's why I called." Her tone got serious. I wonder what it is. "Go ahead, spill it." The line went silence for a while. I almost thought that she dropped the call. "Kao-" "Kei called me." I was surprised to the point that I stood up from my seat.
"W-what? What did you just say? Kei? You mean, Misaki's Kei?!" I panicked. "They're not together anymore, remember? But yeah, that Kei." Damn. He cut off his connections from Misaki after he went to the province and then he contacted Kaori now? What's up with him? "What did he tell you?" I asked. "He's coming back." My eyes widened as I gasped. He's what?! Goodness. Everything is so sudden. "Why so sudden? He cut ties when he went to the province then now he's coming back. What changed his mind, huh?" Kaori calmed me down first.
"Alright, so, Kei told me that it's better to talk to us in person. He just told me brief details about before he left the town. He said that Misaki and him had a talk before he went to the province, they agreed that he will come back for her so basically he didn't abandon her. He doesn't know what to do that's why he needs our help." Oh, is that it? I bet he has his reasons. "When will we meet up? I'm in. I know he has good intentions for Misaki and it will make her happy to see that he's coming back."
"You're still the same, Suga. You always want the best for her." She said. It's not just for Misaki, I also want the best for her. They're both important to me. "Hey, I also want the best for you. You're both important to me." She laughed. "I know, I know. Thanks, Suga. That's one of the reasons why I'm missing you so much." My mouth automatically curved into a smile. We're now getting sentimental here. "Isn't it too early for sentimental hours? Just kidding. So, when will we meet?"
"Tomorrow. Are you free?" Hmm.. I think I can make time for it since there aren't many patients tomorrow. "Yes, of course. What time?" "Lunch time. I'll message you the address." "Alright, Thanks. I'm glad I'll be seeing you tomorrow." "I'm glad too! I'm gonna hug you so tight when I see you!" I can almost imagine her teary-eyed face. Misaki and her are both crybabies. "Woah, careful with your words, Ushiwaka might hear you." She sulked. "So, what? I had you first before him and he understands as well." I'm glad he had a change of heart since graduation. He can be a softie too, I'm surprised. "I'm happy about that."
"How about you? You still don't have a girlfriend?" Why is my lovelife the topic now? They always nag me about not having a girlfriend. "Yes, I still don't have one, Kaori. Why are you both getting impatient, huh? I won't die alone, alright?" "Whatever. You better make a move on someone already. Goodbye for now, I'm going to work again." I laughed before saying goodbye. They're always concerned about me not having a girlfriend because ever since college I'm always with them and I don't make a move on someone as well. Uh, not that I don't want to, I just haven't met that special someone.
(the next day)
I'm on my way to the coffee shop that Kaori messaged me. I feel that I'm too early since I left the clinic an hour ago before them. So, what am I gonna do then? "Good morning, sir. Welcome to Hot and Cold Brews!" The barista greeted. As I looked at her to greet her back, my eyes sparkled as I saw her. This is the first time that I got mesmerized on a girl. What is it that I'm feeling in my chest? "G-good morning." I greeted shyly. "What would you like to order, sir?" She asked as I approached the station. "Uh, can I have a cup of water first.. my friends aren't here yet so I'm gonna wait for them before I order." I responded. She smiled as she agreed. I think that's the most beautiful smile I've ever seen- what am I thinking, goodness gracious. "Here you go, sir." She handed me the cup of water and I thanked her as I accepted it.
I looked at her nameplate and it says 'Tsubaki'. Tsubaki, isn't that a flower? I remember now, it's a camellia flower. Some people say it's bad luck, some say it symbolizes longing and waiting, but it also symbolizes the perfect love. "Suga!" I heard someone called my name loudly. I bet it's Kaori. Yep, I'm not mistaken. It's really her. "Kaori!" She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly just like what she said yesterday. "I missed you, I'm so glad to see you again." As expected, she's getting teary-eyed at the moment so I wiped her tears away. "You crybaby, stop crying now. They'll think that I did something bad to you." She punched me softly so I laughed a little.
We sat down as we wait for Kei. Not long after Kaori came, Kei arrived as well. We were surprised when we saw him because he even grew taller. Damn, this boy. When will he stop growing? He's already adult. "Hey, how have you both been? I'm sorry I didn't reach out for so long." He asked as he sit down infront of us. Kaori didn't speak, I guess she still hasn't sink in that Kei came back. "We're both fine, just like Misaki, we've been working too. How about you? Are you doing great in the province?" I asked and he nodded. "Yeah, at first, I really went through hardships that's why I suddenly cut off my connections with the both of you and Misaki. I was in a miserable state, but I overcame it now so I'm finally gaining my old self again. I.. I didn't wanna come back when I'm still in that state.. so, I made sure that I'm back to normal when I face Misaki.." He lowered his head, I think he felt embarassed.
"We're glad that you were able to overcome it." Kaori said. "We know that you love Misaki with all your heart and you have your reasons that's why we chose to hear your side. I just hope that you won't leave Misaki again this time." She added. "I agree with her. We want Misaki to be happy and we know that being with you will make her happy so we're more than willing to help you if you want to win her back." I supported Kaori's statement. Kei got teary-eyed with what we've said. "Thanks, you two. I owe you a lot." We spent the day talking about Kei's plans for Misaki. Kaori is getting all worked up with his plans that she almost texted Misaki that Kei's in town. I confiscated her phone to avoid that. This girl, really.
After hours of catching up, Kei decided to call it a day and just inform us when he's finally executing the plan. Kaori and I told him to update us every day for us to get informed about his progress. He bid goodbye and left us. "Hey, I'm going now too." Kaori pointed to Ushijima who's waiting outside with an umbrella. Oh, it's raining. Good thing I brought an umbrella. "Alright, take care Kaori." We waved goodbye to each other.
As I approached the exit door, I heard someone spoke. "I'm going now!" It's the barista from earlier.. My heart started to beat faster. I think I'm going crazy. I ignored it and stepped out of the coffee shop. "Aw, man. I forgot to bring an umbrella." I heard her soft voice as I took one more step. I don't know why but my feet moved on its own. I took one step backwards, enough to prevent her from getting wet because of the rain. "Where are you going? I'll accompany you to the station or whatsoever.." I looked at her at the wrong time, geez. She's staring at me. I feel like I'm blushing so I looked away.
"I-I'm okay, sir. I can run to the station." She objected. "You might slip while running and you might get sick if you get soaked. I'm going to the station as well, let's just go together." I don't know why I said that, I'm not even going to the station. My clinic is just a few blocks away from here! "Aren't you in a rush or something? I might take your time if you insisted to accompany me." She's stubborn, but cute. God. Why am I like this?
"It's fine. Don't worry about it. Let's go." She didn't stop me after that. We walked in the sidewalk and I make sure that she's not getting wet from the rain. She's kinda small, her sweater is too big for her but it looks good. She's adorable, I think I'm having a crush on her. We arrived at the station and we stopped by, waiting for someone to speak. "Uh, so we're here. T-thank you sir for accompanying me here.." She said in a cute voice. My goodness. I'm blushing again.
"S-sure. Just don't forget to bring an umbrella next time." I stuttered. "Okay. Goodbye sir, take care." She bowed her head before turning around. Is it goodbye already? I want to.. I want to see her again next time. "S-Suga.." I blurted out. She stopped walking. "My name is Suga." I don't know why I did that. I feel embarassed.
"Tsubaki.. call me Tsu." She turned around and smiled at me. My heart is beating so fast I feel like it will explode. Whew. This girl is something. "Let's meet again next time, Tsu." We waved each other goodbye. I watched her as she hopped into the train. I held my chest to suppress my emotions. My heart is acting crazy. I'm curious about you, Tsu. I hope fate will be kind to us and let us meet again next time.
