This is a flashback to when we first come across the transport room in season 2 in episode 1.
Pike still had his hand out ready for the commander in front of him to shake it. The commander just looked at him opened mouthed. The Lieutenant looked as much shocked.
"Right that was taken well." Pike said to his two other officers.
"I'm sorry Captain. It's just a little surprising." Saru said.
"I'm sorry to scare you but I need to get to the bridge now."
"Of course. Lieutenant Burham and I will show you all the way."
Pike looked at his other two officers. They nodded. They all followed Michael and Saru through the doors and into the main part of the ship.
As they came out the transporter room, many officers turned around and made way for them as soon as they saw Pike. Everyone in Starfleet knew who Pike was and what he had done.
"Don't you have anything else to do?" Saru asked the various officers they saw along the way.
"Leave them alone Saru." Michael whispered.
"Well they have control." Pike whispered under his breath.
"We try Captain." Saru said. Pike realised that Saru had amazing hearing and didn't say anything else.
They walked to the lift and got in. It was very cramped in the lift and Pike was close to having an asthma attack. Luckily the doors opened just before anything could happen.
"Captain on the bridge." Stamets said.
"Make that two Stamets." Michael said.
"What?" Stamets asked as he turned around out of confusion.
Stamets and the rest of the bridge crew were left stunned to find one of the most known Starfleet captains in front of them.
"Well don't all speak at once." Pike laughed.
"I think they're star struck sir." The female officer who accompanied Pike said.
"I think they might be." Pike laughed.
"Tilly protocol for a new captain aboard a ship?" Saru asked the most star struck.
All of the officers looked over at Ensign Tilly who didn't say anything.
"Ensign Tilly?" Saru asked again.
"Oh, sorry sir. Protocol is… Ummm."
Tilly couldn't find the words to answer the commander. She froze. Great right in front of one of her hero's too!
"I'm sorry about this Captain Pike." Saru said for her.
"It's fine. We've all been there." Pike answered him.
Pike laughed with his two officers following his lead. The rest of the bridge stayed quiet. Tilly just wanted to sink into the floor to get out of the situation.
"Right then." Pike said after he could tell the conservation needed changing.
"Yes, just over here please Captain." Michael said before Saru embarrassed Tilly even further.
