Over the next few weeks Agatha started to get used to her prosthetic feet after she healed enough. They were made of metal, but were covered in in a cream-colored rubber and looked like normal feet for an Audino.

Physical therapy hurt, even though she was pushing herself to make it end faster. By far the most painful was for muscles on her hands. While she was still in the hospital room, she would have to try and extend her hand with some device with rubber bands holding it back. It was enough to make her cry, but not in front of anyone.

Eventually, they let her take walks by herself. Wearing a white cloak with long sleeves to cover her scares, Agatha went to the mansion's charred remains looking around the dirt in the yard for things she could use. She came back with a small memory card that she could put into a phone when she got one. In the rush of what had happened, she forgot they were recording.

Agatha had gotten to know the Bayleef, Jim, well enough to let him decide on arrangements for where she would live. Her now enormous funding was tucked away until three years later when she would turn eighteen, so Jim selected a family for her to stay with. She was surprised that there were a lot of options, until she thought about how much money she had.

The older pokemon Jim decided for Agatha to go with was a quieter Mightyena. She was had a light, gentle tone whenever she said anything, and she had a home in the woods far enough from the main streets and sidewalks to have a peaceful silence.

The last thing the Bayleef did before saying goodbye was showing Agatha to her new home with the Mightyena, Claire. The hospital had already set up the four metal pillars and platform nearby in the woods, just out of sight from the small, two-story home. Agatha kept the power cables they obtained in her room, planning to do careful math with them over the coming time.

Jim had also gotten her a new generator to run the device, clearly unaware of what had happened. Agatha accepted the gift guiltily before telling him goodbye.

Agatha's room itself had a single window, a circle with a plus sign cut out of it in the wooden walls. Her bed was just beneath it, and there was plenty of room for her to add anything she wanted to it later.

The day after tomorrow was going to be her first day of school. She'd been home-schooled through ninth grade, but did know how high school was after shadowing some days when she was younger. She hated it, but not enough for it to be a huge issue. She looked up information on the new phone she had gotten about it, and it wasn't very intimidating in terms of academics. There were a few good athletic achievements, but she wasn't worried about that.

Agatha had started to learn how to use her body's energy better ever since the accident. She was close to being able to use some moves, which was something a lot of others never trained themselves to be able to do. She didn't have any athletic plans, but she felt safer. As she lied down on her new, plushy bed, Agatha thought about that night. She fell asleep suspicious.

When Audino got up in the morning, she put on the prosthetic feet at the side of her low mattress and went downstairs. It looked like the Mightyena had already left to work at her restaurant, but there was a short stack of pancakes waiting for her on the house's short, wood table.

After taking a bit to eat, Agatha grabbed her power cords from her room and went outside. Along the sides of the house were vines creeping up the dome wall and well-kept flowers. The grass of the whole area was cut short and kept orderly all the way to the device.

Before doing anything, Agatha inspected the parts of the machine for abnormalities. The areas where the power cords went had slight burns around them.

It didn't make sense. It was supposed to take very electricity to operate. Something was missing for it to operate like this, or the generator was turned up way too high.

It was likely enough for her to confidently, stupidly give it a shot. Agatha connected the power cords and wires how they were before, and double checked everything and every memory she had.

Agatha started the generator and started a gentle, smooth noise. It was familiar enough to make her breathe rapidly while it continued, feeling the air shake in her lungs.

Nothing bad happened immediately. The machine did what it was designed to.

The metal platform's edges glowed a yellow color while the center of it changed completely. After a minute, Agatha felt comfortable enough to walk up to it and bend down to look.

On the other side of the portal was a strange, dark sky. Clouds were swirling like a tornado, and floating rocks above it were the only places to be. Agatha recognized the hypnotic colors, gazing into them for too long.

Audino leaned in too far and fell.
