Disclaimer: Doctor Landry's behavior in the last chapter is in no way a reflection of the current events in the US today. This fanfiction is in a completely different and better world since we all just need a place to escape to sometimes. Stick around though, because Dr. Landry may or may not be a thorn in Eddie and Jamie's side (possible spoiler alert, maybe, could be, we'll have to see how it goes).
After their appointment was over, Eddie was still in a bit of a daze as they walked out of the office. She sort of felt like Doctor Landry's suggestions weren't really necessary, even though she did ask if it was safe. Maybe it was that she didn't like his answer, or his opinion, she wasn't sure, but something about his demeanor at the end of their appointment still bothered her and she couldn't shake the feeling.
"That was weird, right," Eddie says to Jamie as they walk hand in hand towards his car.
"What?"
"Did it seem like he was judgemental of me for even asking the question about work," she asks as she looks over at Jamie. By the look on Jamie's face though, she was starting to wonder if maybe it was just her own guilt.
"I guess it was a little strange," Jamie says. The doctor's behavior did seem a little odd, he would admit that, but he couldn't deny the truth behind everything Doctor Landry pointed out. He didn't really want to discuss it right now though. He promised himself that he would trust Eddie's instinct on the timing of her switching to modified assignment, and right now, they should just be excited about all the good news they received today. They have a due date, saw the heartbeat, and have sonogram pictures of their baby, and best of all, he can finally shout from every rooftop in the city, like he's been anxiously waiting to do since Eddie told him she was pregnant.
"Come on, let me take you to lunch. I know you're starving," he says, a lame attempt at changing the subject and Eddie can tell exactly what he is trying to do, but she hasn't eaten anything since the crackers over four hours ago, and he is right, she is starving.
Jamie wraps his arm around her shoulder and smiles a loving smile at her as he guides her to the car. A thought crosses his mind as he opens the passenger side door to his chevelle for Eddie. They both have sports cars, neither are a good family car and they'll have to figure out what they're going to do about that. A later time though, he decides as he walks around to the driver seat.
Eddie's been quite the entire car ride. Doctor Landry's words running on repeat through her mind and the more she thinks about it, the more she feels like he is probably right. It wasn't that long ago, just a week before their anniversary trip when she chased a perp and got thrown into a metal fence. That could happen on any given day, and she knew she didn't want to put their baby's life at risk out on the job. It was a hard pill to swallow, but she knew it was the right thing to do.
Jamie pulls up in front of a diner not too far from their apartment and glances over at Eddie. He could tell her mind had been racing since they got in the car, and he wondered what she was thinking about. He knew what she thinking about though, he just wondered where she stood with all of it. He didn't want to push, he'd let her tell him when she was ready. Right now though, she was ready for food, that was clear to Jamie when she barely let the car come to a stop before opening her door.
They'd been sitting at the booth for a few minutes now, and other than ordering a turkey club, which Jamie smiled at, and a glass of lemon water, she still hadn't said anything, and it was driving Jamie crazy.
"What's on your mind, Eddie," he finally asked her. She let out a deep sigh, but he could tell she was about tell him.
"I think I'm going to ask for modified assignment tomorrow," Eddie says and Jamie is relieved to hear her say that but acts casual.
"Well, it's your decision," he says as the waitress approaches with their sandwiches.
"Really...that's it," Eddie says sarcastically. "That's all you have to say," she adds with a grin. She knows Jamie's been wanting to hear those words for two weeks now and she's surprised he is so chill about it.
"Okay fine. Those are the best words I think I've ever heard you say. I mean, right after yes and I do," he says with a smirk. He knows it's a hard decision for his wife to make, but he feels so much better now, knowing she and their baby will be off the streets and safe and he didn't have to push her to make the decision.
"Just be prepared to deal with a raging hormonal lunatic ten-fold now. I hate desk duty," she says as she scrunches her nose and reaches for her sandwich. She pulls the tomato off and hands it to Jamie. He's not worried about the mood swings, he'll embrace them, he thinks, as long as his wife and baby are safe, he'll happily endure anything this pregnancy throws at them.
"I'm sure they'll find a good way to use you, Eddie. You have a lot to offer off the streets too. Maybe you won't have to just answer phones for the next eight months," he says with a smile of encouragement. He might even feel out her Sergeant or Capitan Espinoza to see what he can do to help her. He'll deal with the backlash that might come from her if there's a chance he can help get her a better modified assignment.
"What do you want to do the rest of the day," Jamie asks as they settle their check at the diner and walk back to the car.
"I have the perfect idea," she says as she arches her eyebrows suggestively and presses up on the tips of her toes to place a sweet, teasing kiss on his lips before sliding down into the seat. She laughs at how fast Jamie runs from her side of the car to his.
They're practically racing each other to their apartment door as Jamie slings it open and they dart inside. Eddie tosses her bag on the kitchen table as Jamie slams the door and sneaks up behind her, whisking her into his arms, like he did when he carried her over the threshold when they first moved in. She squeals as her arms fling around his neck and she laughs.
"You won't be able to do that much longer," she jokes, but the look of desire is back in Jamie's eyes and he's not joking right now as he dives for her mouth.
He kicks the bedroom door open, managing no separation in their lips until he reaches their bed and sits her down gently. Eddie scoots back as Jamie crawls over her and takes her lips in his again and she tugs at the back of his shirt, pulling it over his head and tossing it to the floor. He does the same for her and within seconds, her breasts, spilling over the lining of the black lacy bra again, causes the same reaction in Jamie as he had before they left and he traces his fingers slowly over her cleavage and then pushes the straps off her shoulders.
Eddie's chest is rising and falling as her breathing grows deeper at the feel of Jamie's touch. She is just as desperate to connect as he is in this moment, and reaches behind her back to unhook her bra herself. Once free, she smiles at Jamie as she leans back against the mattress and he follows on top of her as he cups one of her breasts in his hand and suckles her nipple gently. She moans in pleasure as he moves his mouth up her neck and to her throat and takes her lips in another greedy kiss.
Eddie reaches up to grip the headboard above her head as Jamie continues to devour her mouth with hungry kisses and she pulls one leg up slowly as Jamie's hand leaves her breast and glides down to the button of her jeans. He flicks it undone and pulls the zipper down as his hand slides inside her matching lace panties and he massages slowly. It must be her heightened hormones because Eddie doesn't think that has ever felt so good and she bucks her hips into him and tightens her grip on the board above her head.
She pulls her lips away from his as her body begins to quiver as Jamie continues his gentle massage. She doesn't want to finish like this, not right now. She wants all of him and pushes his hand away as she reaches for the button on his jeans. Jamie knows exactly what she wants, he wants it too and smiles as strips his pants off and tosses them to the floor. Eager to join their bodies together, Eddie tugs her own pants off and pulls Jamie back down to her. Jamie hovers over her for a moment as they peer deep into each other's eyes. No words are needed to express the love they have for each other as Jamie captures her lips in his again. This time it's soft and sensual as he settles between her and he drags his hand down her side again, gripping her thigh in his palm and pulling her leg up as he enters. Jamie rocks into her gently, and their rhythm is so natural. It has been since their first time together, and they both know exactly what the other needs.
They find their release together, it didn't take long for Eddie, and it had to be the hormones because she was extra sensitive. It didn't take long for Jamie because the sounds of sheer ecstasy coming from his wife had an effect on him that he would never get tired of.
As their breathing finally returned to normal, Jamie rolled off Eddie but continued to rub soft circles along her stomach and in between the little aftershocks, Eddie finally found the strength to muster a few words.
"God Jamie, that was…"
"Amazing," he finishes for her, still attempting steady breath.
Eddie rolls over and rests her head on Jamie's shoulder as he begins to drag his fingertips slowly up and down her arm.
"Hey, how do you want to tell your family," she asks in a whisper, as her eyes drift shut.
"I have the perfect idea," he says. His voice is just as soft as hers and he leans in for one more kiss.
A/N: Well there you go, a little Jamko lovin to end the night. How do you think Eddie and Jamie will decide to tell the Reagan family about the baby?
