"Little Devil!" Bokuto called out when he saw Fei, Kuroo and Kenma. He ran up to them and held out his arms as Fei jumped into them. He swung her around a couple times and placed her back on her feet. He then ruffled up her hair. "Why didn't you tell us you were sticking around?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise." Fei said as she skipped over to Akaashi, who had stayed behind. He smiled down at the girl and allowed her to wrap him in a hug.
"Bo bro, I'm feeling a bit left out buddy. Feel like you like my girlfriend more than me." Kuroo teased.
"We do." Kenma and Akaashi answered together.
"Akaashi and I adopted her." Bokuto said proudly as Akaashi and Fei walked up to the rest of the group.
"Oh god…. Am I going to have to start calling you both Daddy…. Cause I'm starting to be collecting fathers lately." Fei asked.
"Please don't." Akaashi said with a cringe.
"Oh no, it is a requirement with our adoption. Daddy Bo has a ring to it. So does Daddy Kaashi." Bokuto said as he sent Akaashi a playful wink.
"I will pay you to not say that again, Bokuto." Akaashi said and Kuroo snickered as he wrapped an arm around Fei's shoulders.
"Can we just get this over with?" Kenma said with a heavy sigh. "The sooner we get this shopping trip over with, the sooner Kuroo gives me back my game."
Fei wrapped her arm around his. Kuroo nodded and the group headed off to the first store.
They shopped for a couple hours before Kenma couldn't take it any more and swiped his game back from Kuroo when he wasn't paying attention. Fei playing a big part in it as she kept Kuroo's attention. Akaashi only smirked at the two as they snuck off. He secretly wished he had snuck off with them, but knew some one had to keep an eye on Kuroo and Bokuto. If they were left alone, there was a good chance they would find themselves in trouble. After the third time the two had annoyed him, Akaashi texted the other two in the group Fei had started. He couldn't help but chuckle every time he saw what Fei had named their group chat. The Babysitters of Bo and Ku.
Akaashi: Thanks for leaving me with the over grown children.
Fei: You can handle it. I have faith in you.
Akaashi: You should have less faith in me. One of us could end up single by the end of this shopping trip.
Kenma: If you kill one of them, I'm not helping hide the body.
Fei: me either.
Akaashi: Traitors. Where did you two disappear to anyway?
Kemma: The normal spot.
Akaashi: You both owe me lunch and a large coffee.
Fei: Lunch is on me then.
Kenma: I'll buy you a gift card.
Akaashi smirked as he placed his phone back in his pocket and turned his attention back two the other two boys. They both seemed to realize that their two smallest friends where missing in action.
"Dude…. You lost Kenma again… And this time you lost your girlfriend as well." Bokuto teased. "Maybe you should get that boy a bell. He moves like a damn ninja. Bet he swiped his game too."
Kuroo at once checked his pocket and cursed when he realized his best friend was right. He then glanced up at Akaashi. "Did you see where they went?"
"Nope." Akaashi replied simply. It wasn't a complete lie. He hadn't seen which way the two of them had gone. But he did know where they were.
"Damn it." Kuroo groaned. "We had better go find them."
Bokuto chuckled as he followed Kuroo out of the store. Akaashi sent a quick warning to the other two and quickly followed.
"Finally! Why the hell didn't we look here first!" Bokuto asked when he caught sight of Kenma and Fei sitting by the water fountain. "Why don't you just put a collar on Kenma, bro."
Fei looked up at the sound of Bokuto's voice and saw the slight blush that crossed Kuroo's cheeks at Bokuto's last comment. Fei looked over at Kenma who hadn't looked up from his game, but the blush on his cheeks gave it away that he had heard the comment as well. Fei bit her lower lip and nudged Kenma.
"We have been found, Gamer Boy." Fei said with a smile. The only one who noticed that it was fake was Akaashi. He walked up to the girl and pulled her into a side hug.
"Let's get some food." Akaashi said and the others agreed. Bokuto and Kuroo took the lead as they headed towards the food courts. Akaashi, Kenma and Fei kept a bit of distance between them and the other two as they followed behind.
"Do you remember our promise Kenma?" Fei asked as she held tighter onto Akaashi.
Kenma looked up from his game with huge eyes. "What are you saying Fei?"
Fei didn't turn to look at him, but kept her eyes ahead. "You know exactly what I am saying. What I am asking is are you ready to keep that promise?"
Kenma stopped in his tracks and took ahold of Fei's arm. Causing both her and Akaashi to stop. "You cant be serious. Why now? Why stay if this is what you had planned? You could have done this at training camp!"
Fei looked over at Kenma with a sad look in her eye. He was a bit taken back and let go of her arm. "Fei? Why now?"
"Because this isnt fair to you." Fei said as she wiped away a tear. Akaashi rubbed her back as he attempted to comfort her. But he wasn't a hundred percent sure what was going on. He had his suspensions, but there was a lot that Kenma and Fei hadn't told him.
Kenma gave her a guilty look and turned away from her. But Fei wasn't having it. She lightly grabbed his face and made him look back down at her. "Are you ready to keep your promise Kenma?"
Kenma gulped and nodded. Fei smiled sadly and hugged him. "After we eat."
Fei sighed then put a smile on her face. She nodded up at Kenma and then ran off to join Kuroo and Bokuto. Kuroo didn't seem to notice that the girl was a bit off, but surprisingly Bokuto did. He glanced over his shoulder at Akaashi and Kenma. Akaashi shook his head. Bokuto simply nodded in reply and turned his attention back towards Fei.
"What promise?" Akaashi asked. Kenma's face turned a deep shade of red.
"Fei knew things wouldn't work out between them in the long run. But I asked her to try because when they weren't fighting they were good together." Kenma said as he got his game back out. Akaashi quickly took it away from him and Kenma pouted a bit, but explained more. "I promised her, that when she ended things, I'd be there to pick up the pieces."
Akaashi blinked in a bit of confusion then glanced over at Kuroo and Fei. "She's dumping him… here?"
Kenma nodded. "I think she saw his reaction to Bokuto's collar comment."
Akaashi glanced back at Kenma. "Well you both did blush pretty bad at that one. But why end things because of that? I thought she actually liked him."
Kenma bit his lower lip. "She does… but she also knows how I feel. I guess seeing his reaction made her believe he had feeling too. She knows about our history."
Akaashi shook his head. "This isn't going to end well. You know how quickly Kuroo gets attached."
Kenma blushed and looked away again. Akaashi's mouth dropped open. "You and Fei planned how to handle this… you are just playing with him."
"No, he knows it's going to happen eventually. He pretty much told me the same thing she did. When things end, I'll be there to pick up the pieces." Kenma said then sighed heavily. "He just doesn't know what Fei has planned. She is hoping that with her out of the picture, he and I can try again."
"Kenma…." Akaashi asked a bit cautiously. "Do you want to try again."
Kenma looked down at his feet and nodded. Akaashi sighed and placed his arm around Kenma's shoulders as he led him towards where the others disappeared to. He handed Kenma back his game right before they found a seat with Fei.
"Where are the other two?" Akaashi asked.
"Grabbing us all food." Fei said as she leaned her head on Kenma's shoulder. He placed his head against hers and Akaashi smiled at them. Kenma was lucky to have a friend like Fei. But he wasn't a fan on how the girl was handling her situation with Kuroo. He sighed heavily and glanced around the food court. He perked up a bit when some one familiar sat down across the room from them.
"I'll be right back." Akaashi said as he got to his feet. The other two just nodded with out asking where he was going. He was thankful for that.
"Can we talk?" Akaashi asked when he reached his target. The boy looked up at him a bit confused.
"I wasn't expecting to see any one I knew here." The boy said in a bit of surprised. "Akaashi, these are my cousins. You can join us if you would like."
Akaashi looked over his shoulder and shook his head. "This should probably be a private conversation."
The boy looked over at his cousins and quickly excused himself. He followed Akaashi to a more private location and looked around nervously. "I'm a bit confused. We didn't talk much at training camp."
"Fei's here." Akaashi said getting right to the point. He crossed his arms and watched the boy's facial expressions. "She is breaking up with Kuroo after we all get done eating. He has the rest of us to ease the blow. But she isnt going to have any one… unless you want to play her knight in shining armor."
The boy looked up at Akaashi with large eyes. "What do you mean by that?"
Akaashi rolled his eyes. "You like her. The others may have easily looked over that fact, but I knew it the moment I watched you interact with her. And the little never have I ever game gave away more than you would be willing to admit. So what I am saying….. just… she is going to need some one. Even if she's putting up a strong front right now. Just… after we eat, we usually go to the water fountain to settle down a bit. I'm sure that's when it will happen. It's your choice."
Akaashi turned away and walked back to his table, not even glancing back towards the other boy. He wasn't sure if he would show up. But Akaashi had to do something. Fei deserved to have some one pick up her pieces as well.
When they finished eating Fei took ahold of Kuroo's hand and made him stay back a bit from the others.
"Hey, you ok? You've been off for the past hour or so." Kuroo asked as he looked down at her concerned.
"I want you to be completely honest with me here." Fei said as she looked down at her feet. Kuroo tensed but squeezed her hand to let her know he would be. Fei took a deep breath and looked up at Kuroo. "Why did you decide sleeping with Kenma was a bad idea? Was it because you were scared your friendship with him would change?"
Kuroo was taken back by her question, but he couldn't deny that she was right. Fei sighed heavily and looked over at Kenma who was watching the whole thing. "You know, you shouldn't worry about that. You cant help who you like."
Kuroo looked down at Fei in complete surprise. "What the hell are you saying Fei?"
Fei pulled on his hand and led him over to Kenma. She looked up at Kuroo and smiled sadly at him. "We both knew this thing between us wouldn't last. I'm sorry Kuroo."
Kuroo tried to tighten his hold on her hand, but she slipped out of his grasp and pushed him into Kenma's arms. Kuroo tried to push himself away from his best friend, but Kenma tightened his hold on him till Kuroo gave up and laid his head on Kenma's shoulders. By the tears that started to show up in Kenma's eyes, Fei expected that Kuroo was crying. Fei reached out and wiped away Kenma's tears.
"Thank you for keeping your promise. Be good to him." Fei said and Kenma nodded in reply.
"Wait… what the hell is going on here?" Bokuto asked as he watched the scene unfold. Akaashi wrapped his arms around Bokuto's waist and nodded behind Fei. She turned to see one of her Karasuno boys standing awkwardly behind her.
"Ennoshita? What are you doing here?" Fei asked as she walked over to him. Trying her best to keep a happy look on her face.
"I was visiting my cousins when I saw you. Am I interrupting something?" Ennoshita asked. Fei rushed into his arms and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"How do you always show up when I need some one?" Fei asked and Ennoshita gulped.
"Just lucky timing I guess." Ennoshita said as he glanced up at Akaashi. The boy nodded his approval.
"I was about to head home… would you want to come with me? You look like you need to talk." Ennoshita asked as he rubbed her back. Fei nodded into his chest. Ennoshita took a deep breath and led the girl away.
Kuroo cleared his throat and stepped back from Kenma. He then turned to where Fei was, but found her gone. "Where did she go?"
"She's ok. She'being looked after." Akaashi said as he patted Kuroo's back. Kuroo tensed
"What do you mean by that?"
Akaashi rolled his eyes. "One of the Karasuno boys were here. She left with him."
Kuroo turned to see Ennoshita and Fei's retreating backs and let out a small growl. "I knew there was something going on there."
Akaashi rolled his eyes. "She doesn't know or see it."
"She thinks he has a thing for Tanaka." Kenma said as he reached out and took Kuroo's hand. "Don't think she never cared about you Kuroo. If anything she probably cared about the both of us more than she ever cared about her own feelings."
"What did you promise her?" Kuroo asked as he glanced down at Kenma. The younger boy blushed.
"That I'd be here for you when this happened." Kenma replied honestly.
"Did she ask you why we decided before had been a bad idea?" Kuroo asked as he turned his full attention on Kenma.
"No, but I am pretty sure she knew what my answer would be. I think that is why she helped Shoyo with Kageyama." Kenma said as he finally looked up at Kuroo. "She saw right through me."
"Why didn't you ever say anything to me? Why just go along with it?" Kuroo demanded and Kenma flinched.
"Would you have listened if you already had your mind set?" Kenma asked then sighed. "I was denying it. But it hurt when I saw you two together. You are both my best friends and I just wanted to see you guys happy. I guess she thought the same thing."
Kuroo ran a hand a hand over his face. "I think we should all go home."
"Good idea Kuroo." Akaashi said as he started to drag Bokuto away from the two Nekoma boys.
Kenma started to walk away as well, but stopped when he realized Kuroo was still holding on to his hand.
"Where do you think you are going?" Kuroo asked.
"Home." Kenma said a bit confused.
Kuroo smirked down at him and swiped the game out of his hand. "We have more to talk about. And there is no getting out of this. And I expect honest answers Kenma. So you're coming to my place."
Kenma gulped but nodded. Kuroo let go of his hand and wrapped his arm around the younger boys shoulders. "You know I'm still angry with you."
Kenma smiled. "Yeah, I know."
Ennoshita looked over at Fei as she looked down at her phone with a sad look on her face. She hadn't taken her eyes off the screen since they had gotten on the train. The longer she started at it. The sadder her facial expression got.
"You want to talk about it?" Ennoshita asked and Fei flinched as if she had forgotten he was there.
"I um…. Broke up with Kuroo." Fei said then looked up at Ennoshita. "And I kinda pushed him at Kenma after I did it. I just hope I didn't make things worse."
Ennoshita smiled down at her. "So cupid struck again."
When she didn't smile at his joke he sighed heavily. "Listen Fei. If there is one thing I have learned about you, it is that you are really good with reading most people. You could see there was something between them. And being the selfless person you are, you tried to get them to realize that. You shouldn't feel bad for trying to do the right thing. Even if it back fires, that isnt your fault. That is up to them now."
"Most people?" Fei asked looking up at him confused.
"What?"
"You said I was good at reading most people." Fei said and Ennoshita rolled his eyes.
"Out of that whole conversation, that is what you picked up on?" Ennoshita asked with a slight smirk. "That isnt even the point. The real point is you cant blame yourself if things don't work out. You can try and help, bit at the end of the day it is up to them."
Fei smiled sadly and looked back down at her phone. "Is that why you told me not to meddle with you and Tanaka? Because I can never turn the boy gay for you?"
Ennoshita chuckled. "Far from it. Maybe I meant that you had misjudged me. Maybe I meant that I didn't like Tanaka that way."
Fei raised an eyebrow at him. "You don't have a crush on Tanaka?"
"Nope."
Fei shook her head. "But the person you described that you liked…."
"Wasn't him." Ennoshita said with a smile.
"Well shit…. How am I supposed to play cupid if I have no idea who it is now." Fei groaned and Ennoshita chuckled. He was starting to think he would have to spell it out for her. Bit decided he would let her figure it out herself. If she didn't see it, she most likely didn't like him back anyway. There wasn't any point in being rejected if he could avoid the whole situation. He would just keep up what he was doing now. Be her friend.
