Kagome was different today.
Dabi cocked his head to the side. He wasn't exactly sure what it was, but something seemed to have changed in her. He'd been worried when she'd taken off to school that morning. Yet now that she was back, she seemed to be in much better spirits. It was nice but a part of him was concerned.
"Had a good day?" His question was met with the sharp nodding of her head.
"Yes!" Kagome tucked her arms in close to her chest. "I think we finally figured out what to do at least." Her eyes flashed as she grinned up at him. "If I can't use Crystallize for long periods of time then I'll just have to make myself stronger."
Dabi paused.
What?
Kagome continued, "I talked to Mr. Aizawa earlier and he said that instead of relying on it so heavily as I have been doing, that I should go ahead and focus on my actual combat skills. That way I just use my quirk to amplify my attacks rather than relying solely on Crystallize to take out my opponents."
It wasn't a bad plan. Not perfect but it wasn't terrible either.
Frankly, it simply sounded like Aizawa had no damn clue what to do with the girl so he'd focus on what was easiest first.
"You really want to train that badly, huh?" His lips curved into a faint smile.
The young woman nodded vigorously, "Of course! I want to keep getting stronger!" Azure eyes lowered towards her palms, "I want to be a rescue hero, but if I have to fight then I need to know how."
He pressed his thumb and index finger to his chin thoughtfully.
If Aizawa was going to focus on her hand-to-hand combat skills then that would mean that he would need to focus on her quirk training.
After all, no one else seemed to know what to do with it. Not even Kagome herself.
"Then come on," He waved his hand in a beckoning motion. "I think it's time I showed you how to improve your endurance." His eyes hardened, "Quirks are physical abilities just like everything else apart of your body. To gain muscle you train in a controlled manner that enables the fibers to tear apart and regrow without causing permanent damage." He crooked a finger at her, "So far they've been telling you to push your quirk at full blast without putting you on any sort of training schedule that'll enable that sort of growth. You've just been tossing yourself at that limit and then falling back to the ground. You need to push it slowly."
Kagome blinked, "Push it slowly?"
Dabi led them into the forest.
He'd cleared the area this morning after she'd left. Thankfully there didn't seem to be any other rats hanging about. Although he'd have to keep a close ear out just to be safe while they trained.
"You don't expect a baby to learn how to run before they can crawl. Your quirk is the same way. You need to grasp the basics first if you want to use it effectively." Dabi came to a stop in an open clearing. There was enough space for him to use his flames without risking fire to the underbrush. It'd be perfect for what they were about to do.
Dabi shifted into a defensive position, "Alright kid, show me what you can do. With this fight, I want you to stop as soon as you feel a fever creeping on. You got that? We need to find your baseline."
Kagome lowered into an offensive position, "Understood!"
His lips curved into a confident smirk.
This was going to be a fun few weeks.
