In school, Shizuka was sitting next to the window. She was mooning over what happened that time. Since their last interaction in the mansion, Lucifer didn't do anything to contact her despite her efforts to know his condition. Was Lucifer alright?
"Hello, Shizuka!", Shiemi suddenly appeared and wrapped her arms around Shizuka's shoulders.
"Hi, Shiemi."
"Since the recess started, you were just sitting here. How about you come with me and join our friends at the school yard for lunch? Come on, you must be hungry."
Shizuka was aware of the sound coming out of her stomach. She nodded.
They walked side by side to their friends' place. They were sitting beneath one of the big tree, their usual gathering place. "Hey, it's good to see you finally join us!", Rin waved his hand at the two.
"Hello guys", Shizuka finally grinned. She sat down with them and took out her lunch. The girl shared her bento with all of them, including Amaimon.
"Hey, have you heard about the school festival? I heard that it's going to be started next week", Renzou told them.
"Yeah, every class have their own projects for the festival. Besides, this festival is not just for students but also for public", Ryuji replied after finished chewing his onigiri.
"Not to mention, the event is also broadcast across the country. I'm kind of wondering of the entertainers that will perform soon", Konekomaru curiously asked them.
"About that, I heard that many singers from all over Japan are invited, and some from abroad will come too. I can't wait to see their performances", Yukio responded shortly.
"I agree!", Rin had high five with his twin. "And not to mention the dance. I can't wait!"
The King of Earth observed Shizuka's behaviors. Since their friends started chattering, she was not saying anything. "Shizuka, how about you? Do you have any plans to join in the festival?"
Shizuka flinched. "Oh, well, I guess I don't have any."
Her sudden response shocked many of them. Shiemi, Izumo, Reina, and Paku coughed loudly, while Renzou and Rin spilled their drinks. Amaimon, Ryuji, and Yukio raised their eyebrows in question.
"What??!!"
"That's true. I don't have any plans for coming to the event soon. I'm busy."
"What are you working on anyway?", Ryuji inquired curiously.
"I'm studying for the upcoming exorcist classification exam next year. I want to prepare myself for it."
"But Shizuka, aren't you interested in the event on the second day?", Paku urged her to come with them.
"What do you mean? What's so special about it?", Shizuka asked innocently.
"There's a dance party on the second day, and it's for pairs."
"I don't think I will be able to attend it. I still want to study."
"I don't think I can do it either. I'm starting to take the exorcist exam more seriously", Ryuji added. "Besides, I think I can't thoroughly enjoy the festival. I'm one of the crew in charge of the preparation."
"Oh both of you are not fun!", Renzou scolded them in exasperation.
"I agree with them. I think we have been too slacking", Izumo spoke.
"Oh not you too, Izumo-chan!"
"At least I have something better to do than you, pink head!"
Mephisto was on his way strolling around the school area. Seeing his favorite students chattered caught his interest. "Wow, what an lively argument you have there."
"Mephisto!"
"Ha-ha-ha, don't be too surprised! I was just passing by", Mephisto grinned. "I see that you are talking about the school festival."
"We are. But I still can't believe that Shizuka doesn't want to join the party. School festival is a once in a lifetime experience!", Renzou shouted loudly.
"So I imagine you don't have any partners to dance in the festival, Shizuka?"
"I don't have any, Mephisto. Some guys did ask for me to come with them but I refused."
"Then how about you come with me, Shizuka? Please, you are the only one available! The others already have someone to come with them", Renzou pleaded to her, knelt in front of her.
Shizuka stood in surprise. "If you want it so badly I'll think about it."
Izumo shook her head in disagree. "I don't think coming with him to the party is a good idea. What if you ask Lucifer instead?"
Shizuka's face suddenly clouded with sadness. She tried so hard to hide it, but they could see it clearly. "I don't know. I don't want to burden him too much. He is busy with his businesses. Besides, so many things happened between us this recently."
This statement made them exchange looks in worry.
"Well, I'm going to buy some drinks. Do you want me to buy something?", Shizuka questioned them.
"I want a strawberry juice!", Paku raised her hand.
"I think a chocolate milk will be nice", Rin told her his order.
"I don't need anything too specific. Just bring me anything tasty enough to drink", Amaimon ordered nonchalantly.
"Okay then."
As soon as she was gone, Mephisto quickly gathered them all.
"Hey, what is this all about?", Tanaka questioned in surprise.
"There's something that I want to talk about. Promise me that this talk is just going between all of us in this place."
"What is it?", Shiemi inquired worriedly.
"I'm sure you noticed the way she looks when we mentioned Lucifer. She was gloomy", Yukio responded shortly.
"What could happen that made her looking that way?"
"Let me explain that", Mephisto took his turn. He explained to them about what happened in the mansion during the past week, especially during the interaction between the two while they spent their time in Lucifer's room. They were stunned.
"I knew it! Even from the start, I already know this will happen! Lucifer does in love with her!", Izumo spoke, shaking her head.
"I can't imagine their feelings, especially Lucifer's. He must be hurting a lot", Ryuji added.
"So let me make this simple. Lucifer and Shizuka are in love with each other, but none of them realizing the other's true feelings?", Paku deduced.
"Yes. They're completely oblivious towards each other's feelings, which is why I want your help. We have to help my brother to get her heart", Mephisto asked for their favors.
"Of course, what can we do?", Reina inquired, eager to help.
"We have to do whatever it takes to get them close with each other. We can't afford to lose this opportunity. Just to remind you, you have seen how different he had been since she was around, right?"
Reina was silent, then, "Yeah. I have heard from Shizuka about what happened to him in the past. He was a maniac, for sure, but now to see him so understanding and loving... I think it's too good to be true."
"I agree. Mephisto, I think I know what you are planning here. You want us to help, so you can see him staying on the line, isn't it?", Renzou raised one of his eyebrows in suspicion.
The King of Time grinned devilishly. "You all are surprisingly good at seeing my true intention. Yes, I want to help my brother regain his senses, and I think Shizuka is the best person to help him. Actually, I can already see that Lucifer will have his heart stolen by the girl, long time ago. One thing that I didn't see it coming, and now am truly grateful is that she's returning his feelings, despite him not knowing it yet. If you are willing to help me, you will be rewarded, nicely."
The teenagers exchanged glances. They weren't quite sure, but perhaps what they would do could help Shizuka to be braver in telling Lucifer her feelings. There's nothing wrong with trying anyway. "Alright, we'll help. But what if the people inside the Order know about this? As far as I know, the exorcists don't take it kindly if a human, especially a fellow exorcist is having a relationship with one of the demons", Ryuji inquired.
"Just let me handle it, kids. My siblings and I will deal with Lucifer. By the way, I should get going. Thank you for your help, everyone! About the rewards when you're succeeded, just let me know if you want anything. I can prepare them in an instant!", Mephisto grinned at them and waved his hand. Then, he disappeared in thin air.
At the cafeteria, while Shizuka took a look at the vending machine, she was staring at Lucifer's number in her phone. Is it alright if I send him a message? I don't want to disturb him, but I'm tired of waiting, she thought. She took a deep breath.
Hello Lucifer, I'm sorry for disturbing your time. I would like to ask for a little favor from you, if that's alright. There's this festival in our school that will be starting next week, and on the second day the students are going to have some dance in the party held inside the event. This dance is open for all, and I'm wondering if you want to come and be my date. I know this is sound too surprising, but I just want to know if you're interested. If you can't or don't want to, it's fine. I'll go there with my friends. By the way, thanks for reading my message!
That should do it. Shizuka decided to see his response later while she returns to hang out with her friends. They must have been waiting for her.
In the mansion, Lucifer was writing his weekly report on his laptop. After what happened between him and the girl, he decided to focus working on his desk jobs. He was trying everything he can to forget his wounded feelings. Besides, there's no use to be blue for too long. He still has many things to think of.
He wrote about the notion of mysterious demon army came out of nowhere in Israel. This had started to worry him too much. Their numbers were growing and it seemed there were no signs for them to back down, despite his efforts with the exorcists to persuade them to return to Gehenna.
Armumahel, Shemihaza, with the deepest apology, I have to inform you about the army that we encountered that time. We have tried our best to not using any repression while I persuaded them to return to Gehenna and do some negotiation. It proved to no avail. They showed no sign of retreating. The battle was inevitable between us against them. I have tried my best to not causing too much damage, and luckily there are not many casualties. I will inform you about this incident further in our meeting.
His eyes have finally grown tired looking at the monitor. Lucifer decided to gazed at the green scenery outside of his room. The King of Light groaned and shaking his head. What was going on with him? He knew he had promised to not keeping himself away from Shizuka anymore, but he couldn't help it. He started to wonder of how she was doing.
Iblis then entered his room. "Hey big brother!"
"Hello Iblis. What are you doing here?"
"No need to act so cold! I just want to see my handsome older brother. By the way, are you feeling alright? No pain?"
Except my broken heart, everything is fine. Thank you so much for asking, Lucifer thought sarcastically. He shook his head.
"Let me examine you for a bit."
"There's no need, Iblis. I told you, I'm fine", Lucifer tried to brush her off. Can't she see that he needed some time alone?
"Nothing is wrong with simple checking", Iblis sing-songs. The King of Fire took a look on his face, then his abdomen and back. She also asked him to show her his arms and legs. No wounds whatsoever.
"I told you, everything is fine."
"I see. Then what about your internal injuries?"
"I don't feel pain anymore. You have nothing to worry about", he replied shortly.
Iblis smiled brightly. "How I'm glad to see you fully heal! This is great, Lucifer. I think the doctors and healers have done great jobs in giving you proper treatments. You should be thankful to them. Of course, Shizuka has also helping you. Have you told her about your condition?"
Lucifer's expression turned blank. The mention of her name suddenly made his heart sting with pain again. "No, I haven't. After I was back in shape, I started working on my duties again. Perhaps I will."
Iblis suddenly raised her eyebrows in surprise. Perhaps? She kept her mouth shut. "By the way, how about you come with me? Let's get out of here."
"I don't think it's necessary. I still want to be here. I need to figure out some things."
Figuring out some things, my ass!, Iblis started losing her patience silently. It's clear that he was still isolating himself. She was aware that Egyn stood near the door. "Egyn, let's get our oldest brother out of here."
"Sure!"
They started pulling his arm towards the door of his room. To their annoyances, Lucifer was keeping himself in his seat. Damn it! Despite their efforts to get him standing, he was too stubborn and instead brushed his arms away forcefully from both Demon Kings. Iblis and Egyn fell with their faces hit the floor first.
"Ugh, that hurts a lot", Egyn complained. His face turned red from falling.
"I felt it too", Iblis stood, aware that Lucifer looked at his younger siblings with cold eyes. He crossed his arms. Iblis wanted to groan at his insistence, but another company came. Rin and Yukio. "Ah, there you are. Can you two help us for a bit?"
The twins flinched. Rin and Yukio stared at each other in confusion. "Uh, what can we do?", Rin questioned.
"You need to help us carry our oldest brother out of here. Come here quickly!", Iblis snapped.
The boys immediately rushed to their half sister's side, not wanting to risk on provoking the anger of the King of Fire. "What should we do?", Yukio asked her.
Iblis stared devilishly at Lucifer, with him raised one of his eyebrows in suspicion. "I have a good idea. We will carry him out of here, Egyn and I will hold his arms, while both of you will hold his legs."
Lucifer was in shock when they surrounded him and took hold on him just like what Iblis have told them. What the-?!
"Out we go!", Iblis sing-songs cheerfully.
"Hey, what are you all doing? Get me down!", Lucifer thrashed to get himself free, with no avail. "Where are you taking me?"
"We'll take you somewhere out of here. Seriously brother, you have been here for too long", Iblis replied.
"If you want me to get out so much, you can just ask me so, not carrying me like this! This is foolish!"
Rin and Yukio were holding their laughter. Ah, so this was what their half sister meant.
"If you don't get me down this instant, I will..."
"What, Lucifer? Punish us all? You know that you can't, not with this position you are in now. Just shut the hell up already!", Egyn lost his cool.
The King of Light flabbergasted seeing Egyn's sudden outburst. He sighed. "Where are you taking me anyway?"
"We shall take you to the place where you can clear your head", Iblis answered simply, not looking at him in the eye.
They took him around the mansion, Lucifer have lost count on how long it takes until they're arrived. Lucifer caught the sight of an open door, and an anime poster on it. "Oh, no! No way! Not Samael's room! Anywhere is fine by me, but not his room!"
"Let's get you in!", Rin grinned.
"You all got to be joking!"
The four of them came inside and put him on one of the cushions. The other Demon Kings were already present.
"Ah, you are finally here! That's good!", Mephisto greeted them, "Iblis, thanks for taking our brother to this room."
"You better give us something good in exchange. He's so stubborn, I had to ask for help from Egyn, Rin, and Yukio."
Lucifer gazed his eyes at his siblings. Something was off here. Looks like they were in a gathering, yet he couldn't help but feeling that they looked relaxed. "So Samael, why are we here?"
"Oh, actually I'm not summoning us all for meeting. The others are just here for relaxing. It's you that I needed, that's why I asked Iblis to come to your room and carry you here."
"Well, here I am. I'm sure you want to talk with me."
"Yeah, but first", Mephisto handed him a PlayStation consol, "What if we play a little game?"
Lucifer raised his eyebrows in surprise. Was he joking? "Samael, you know I'm not a gamer."
"I know, but come on. Let's play, just one game", Mephisto grinned at his oldest brother.
The older Demon King could only shook his head. Alright, he was asking for him to play along, and a game they shall play. "Okay, but no cheating!"
Both of them played an RPG fighting video game. Mephisto's game character continued to land powerful blows on Lucifer's, and his opponent showed no resistance, just remained in its defensive stance. Mephisto smirked, sure of victory.
Lucifer was just relaxing going against his younger brother in the game. He had a surprise for him in store. He waited for Mephisto's character to tire itself out. It might be powerful, but it surely have a weakness. Lucifer noticed the stamina of his opponent was decreasing. Now!
Mephisto was in shock at Lucifer's surprise attack. He looked at the expression on the King of Light's face. Lucifer was surely enjoying kicking his butt. Mephisto groaned angrily. "Goddammit! I was so sure I'm going to win. All this time, not even Amaimon can beat me!"
"That's your fault for being so full of yourself", Lucifer was deeply amused at seeing his tantrum.
"How the hell did you becoming so good at this? I can't believe this is happening!"
"In case you're forgetting this, I'm highly adaptive at handling many things. To me, this game is just a piece of cake."
"You and your arrogance!", Mephisto pointed his index finger at his oldest brother.
"What? I'm sure you know it's true. I'm not cheating", Lucifer replied nonchalantly. "Come on, at least it was fun. It has been a long time since you asked me to hang out. Although, I will appreciate it if next time we do something else other than playing games." Lucifer laid against the back of the cushion. "So, why did you call me exactly?"
"Oh, about that. Lucifer, I noticed since your last interaction with Shizuka, you haven't come out of your room. Are you alright?"
Not this again, Lucifer thought, gritted his teeth. "I'm fine. You know me. Sometimes I like spending my time alone."
"That's not what I want to talk about here. I mean, are you okay? You told me that you weren't feeling well after what she told you."
Lucifer's heart was in terrible agony. Why did he have to bring that up?! "I don't know if I can answer that. My emotions are still in a jumble of mess since that time. It has been a long time since I don't have the proper way to act on dealing with something."
Mephisto observed Lucifer's gestures. His brother was clearly in unease. Lucifer closed his eyes shut. His hands were fidgeting and his tail was swaying in tension. "I understand. Besides, this is your first experience in love. I'm sure you will be fine. Why don't you try to contact Shizuka?"
Lucifer bowed his head. "I don't want to disturb her time with that man. Besides, if I do, I will only becoming a nuisance."
"Even if she told you she loves someone, that can't be a reason for you to keep yourself distant. You know better of what will happen if you do it. In the end, if you do that, the ones who will be hurting are both you and her", Mephisto tried to reason with him. "By the way, I met her and her friends during my time checking around the school area."
Lucifer's ears picked his words and lifted up his head in surprise. "How is she?"
Mephisto said slowly, "I have to inform you, she looked sad. This is the first time I saw her expression that way. I can't say what is exactly inside her mind, but when we mentioned you, she went away, like avoiding the talk. Do you believe me now?"
"Hm. I'll try and see what I can do."
Suddenly Lucifer's phone beeped.
"Lucifer, is that sound coming from your phone?", Azazel finally talked, after he and their other siblings observed them.
"I believe so. Let me check on it."
Before he was able to see the notion, Astaroth already snatched the gadget from his hand. "Oh, it's a message."
"Astaroth, give it back to me!", Lucifer tried to take his phone from the punk Demon King.
"Oh, come on! Is it wrong if I peek into your phone?"
"Yes, it's wrong! You are violating by disturbing my privacy! Now give it back!"
"Hey, let me read it for a minute, then I'll tell you what the message is. Don't worry, I won't lie. I have a feeling that this message might change your situation. You'll thank me later."
Lucifer was huffing while Astaroth looking at the message. Astaroth was shaking his head while trying to hold his laughter. He can't take it anymore. "Are you done?"
The King of Rot snorted. "Well brother, I think this is your lucky day. It's from the little girl", Astaroth handed it back. "She asked you to be her date on an upcoming dance party in the... school festival, I believe."
"What?!", Lucifer couldn't believe his senses. What the heck was happening? "Samael, do you know about this school festival by any chance? I mean, you are the headmaster."
"Oh, the school festival is held by True Cross Academy every year. Every class are allowed to show their projects. On the second day there is a dance party for the students, but this year I decided to make it available for public as well."
Beelzebub grinned to Lucifer. "Big brother, this can be your chance. Take her offer. Be her date!"
"I don't think it's going to be a good idea. One thing on my mind, is why didn't she asked the guy she has a crush for to come with her. Don't you think it's odd?"
"I think it's better that you ask her directly when you both are alone. It's time to clear your doubts! This time, don't make any haste decisions!"
Lucifer appreciated Beelzebub's support deeply, but he was still hesitated. Mephisto could see it clearly in his eyes. "Lucifer, if you want, we will help you."
"You mean it?"
"But with two conditions", Mephisto stood, "if you want us to help you, please promise us that you will do what it takes to be happy, and be grateful no matter what happens."
Lucifer stunned. "I appreciate you all want to help me, but your demands... do you know that you ask too many things from me? I don't know if I have what it takes!!"
"You can, brother. You just don't want to!"
"You know what I have always wanted. All this time, I only want something simple. I have been neglected, seen as nothing but a stain in this world. Those humans have been afraid and hated me for ages. They abandoned me! I just want, at least someone who can understand me, someone who will stay with me until the end despite my imperfections. I know I'm a mad demon, I realized that. But I just want someone who can help me overcome my loneliness. I... I don't want to be alone again."
Azazel hold his shoulder. "You're not alone. You have us, your siblings. You have other people who are respecting you, like your bodyguards. Especially, you have Shizuka. Lucifer, don't hesitate to do something that makes you happy for once. You know, I have a good feeling about that girl. Now tell me, what do you feel when she's around?"
Lucifer started to smile, "Whenever she's with me, I feel at peace. She makes me feel as if I can do anything, face anything, just by having her next to me. She makes me question my true nature, my views. From the way she looks at me, I can see that she views me as someone different, a man. I don't remember since when I talked this much to other people outside of work."
"From what we have seen, you are clearly different from the way you were used to be. You are starting to return to your old self, a kindhearted being. Lucifer, I think you should open yourself more to her. I believe, she can be your salvation. Call me insane, but I think it's highly possible for your feelings to be reciprocated. Give it a try, we'll help you", Azazel smiled gently at his oldest brother.
Azazel's motivation made him feel better. Perhaps they were right after all. If he wanted to make peace with himself, he must do something. "Alright. Please lend me your help."
"Even without you ask us, we will help. Besides, actually I have made a plan for you to make appearance as a special guest on the school festival opening, so there's no reason for you to refuse~", Mephisto grinned mischievously at Lucifer, much to his shock.
"What the hell? You damn clown! I knew it, you are up to something!"
The festival have finally come. The school yard was decorated with all kinds of ornaments, making it look extravagant. Near the stage, many people and reporters gathered. They were waiting for the opening of the event.
The crowd was surprised at Mephisto's way to appear on the stage. He fell himself off from the helicopter and open the parachute. "Hello, my dear students!"
"Oh god, that's the headmaster!"
"Damn, that clown will always do so many things to make people notice him", Rin snickered, with Shizuka stood next to him.
"I agree", Shizuka shook her head in amusement. "I heard that there will be a special guest appear for the opening of the festival."
"It's a surprise, I think", Amaimon just shrugged.
"I know that you are impatient to enjoy our festival. Many guests are coming, especially from the overseas! But first, let us welcome our special guest for this year's opening of celebration!", Mephisto stretched his hands. And, a light suddenly shone brightly.
The ray of light shaped into something Shizuka was so familiar with. "Wait, that looks like a Seraphim! Then, the special guest is-?!"
The young man floated gently while he stood next to Mephisto. He wore a simple T-shirt that showed a bit of his chest, along with a black jeans and a pair of sneakers matched his pants in color. A wireless microphone plugged on his right ear. Many of his fangirls screamed in excitement seeing their idol.
"Ah, that's Lucifer!"
"I can't believe he's here!"
"Lucifer, we love you!"
"You ask for my appearance, and now here I am, granting your wish! Thank you for inviting me, Mephisto. Good evening, True Cross Academy!", Lucifer greeted them all. His head held high, arms stretched wide in welcoming manner.
"Aahhh!"
"Oh my goodness, he's so good-looking!"
"Lucifer-sama, I'm here!", Suzuki was still in her annoying attitude. Shizuka and the others paid no mind to her.
Mephisto clung his arm around his older brother's shoulder. "Welcome, Lucifer. You always know how to make spectacular entrances. You look good."
"You look good yourself, although I wouldn't do something like falling myself off from the helicopter", Lucifer teased his younger brother, made the audience laughing. "Besides, how can I call myself a king if I don't know how to make appearance in front of public?"
Many women screamed, and the crowd getting even merrier when Lucifer smiled charmingly. None of them realized that he was aware the girl he looked among the crowd was there.
Shizuka blushed deeply seeing him. She knew exactly that he smiled at her. This was kind of interesting. He had never acted this way before. There's must be a reason behind his current behavior.
"You know me. I love being the center of attention!", Mephisto tapped his shoulder jokingly.
"You surely are hopeless. Well, how if we begin this festival right now?"
"Good idea! Everyone, this festival is for you to enjoy! Have fun to your hearts content!"
"But don't forget! Obey the rules while you're having fun."
"And now, True Cross Academy Festival is open!!"
Now the crowds were spreading to every corner of the location. The event was grand. Some students were making a maid cafe, while the other opened a tent selling foods. The crews were doing supervision, making sure the event went in order.
Shizuka walked around the school. She tried some games on one of the tents. She was also buying the onigiri sold by Rin and his friends. Just like always, the foods he made was delicious. Every ingredient blended perfectly!
On the other hand, Lucifer was sightseeing, looking around the festival. He enjoyed it so far. Everywhere he saw, the festival was fun and all, but it would be better without these women following him around. They were getting more annoying. He really wanted to get away from them, but the fortune was not in his odds. He had made a promise to stayed in the festival, in case he was going to be summoned.
"Do you mind if I accompany you?"
"Let's walk together, Lucifer."
Shizuka who was eating her takoyaki was so entranced by the liveliness of the festival, she didn't know she bumped into someone. She was about to slip, until a pair of strong arms held her close and kept her from falling. "Whoa! Be careful!"
She was surprised. "Lucifer!"
"Hi." Lucifer was most definitely nervous. Of all the people here, he was both shocked and pleased to see her. "Are you okay?"
Shizuka was getting giddy. Their proximity made her feel so many things. The way he held her against him, his eyes gazed deeply into hers, she couldn't help but feeling shy. "I'm fine. Thanks."
The girls were envious at their interaction. Throughout the festival, Lucifer didn't treat even just one of them with so much care, and now this girl completely stole his attention.
"Hey, get away from Lucifer! He's with us!"
Shizuka raised one of her eyebrows in mocking. "Why should I do that? He's my best friend."
"Best friend or not, we don't give a shit about any of that. Get away from him!"
"Nope."
"Why you little-", one of the girls was about to brushed Shizuka off him and gave her a slap, but stopped when she saw Lucifer's glare.
Lucifer definitely wasn't pleased. He grew tired of the way they treated Shizuka. He stared coldly at them, then averted his gaze at Shizuka. He blinked one of his eyes playfully. "Well, I think it's time for me to go."
"What?! What do you mean, Lucifer??"
"Actually I came here to see someone, and now I have found her. I appreciate you all accompanied me throughout my sightseeing. Goodbye~"
"What?! We don't understand! Lucifer, wait!"
In the middle of their confusion, Lucifer took her hand and whispered, "Shizuka, let's get out of here."
The two ran, avoiding the shameless girls. Shizuka laughed at the hilarious situation they were in. When they arrived in somewhere less crowded, she hugged him. "Oh my God! I can't believe I would see you here!"
"Actually I came here to see you."
"Really? So you are looking for me?", she asked mischievously. He shrugged. "I still can't believe you are the special guest for tonight."
"Ah, I'm not the only one. There are still many people out there invited to be entertainers. Samael just invited me as his partner to open the event. Don't take him seriously."
"Now that you found me, what would you like to do?"
"Let's walk around. I would like you to accompany me. And, there's something I would like to tell you."
Shizuka was wondering of his words. Oh my, does this have relation to my message that time?, she thought anxiously. She nodded.
They walked side by side. Lucifer held her by placing one of his arms on her waist. "So Lucifer, do you enjoying this event?"
"Pretty much. I think this festival is impressive. Ah, this brings back memories."
"Can you tell me about it?"
"Well, I'm sure you know I was known as a god in ancient times. I was worshiped by humans. Back then, they made celebrations to honor me. Some of them were similar to this one."
"I see."
"By the way, there's something that I would like to tell you. Uh... I saw your message the other day."
Shizuka flinched. Now she's a bit nervous. "And?"
"I think I need to apologize beforehand. I am sorry for not seeing you a couple days ago. I was busy, since my body has healed fully, I need to get on track with my duties again. Nevertheless, I'm thankful for all your help during my recovery." Damn it, I sound like a coward. Unbelievable of me!
Shizuka nodded, understand of his routine. But silently, she had a hunch that he avoided her again, due to unknown reason. How she's curious to know. "Is something happened again in the Order?"
"We faced another threat from rebellious demons. This time, they formed an army. They caught us off guard. I'm still trying to find a way to keep them from harming humans", Lucifer replied shortly. "But oh well, that's not the reason why I want to see you. I'm sorry for making you feeling lonely. I miss you."
Shizuka hugged him, his chin placed on top of her head. "Me too. So, is there anything else you would like to let me know?"
"I want to ask about the dance you told me about. It's tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah, and we are allowed to dress as we like, as long as it's still appropriate. Well, I'm going to dress casually, because I want to watch my favorite artists in their concert afterwards. It will be started on 18:00 o'clock."
"I see. I would like to tell you, that I don't mind being your date."
Shizuka's face beamed with excitement. "Really? Oh my God, thank you so much!"
"Don't mention it. At least, this is what I can do after leaving you hanging", Lucifer ran his hand on her hair and kissed her cheek.
"I always know that I can count on you. Thank you, Lucifer."
"By the way, why didn't you ask the guy you have crush on to be your date? Instead, you asked for my company?", Lucifer raised his eyebrows slightly in confusion.
She was stuttering. "Well... He's busy, that's why I can't ask him. It's complicated." Lucifer only looked at her and not questioned any further. He didn't want to ruin her good mood.
Shizuka was thrilled. Tonight she was going to the dance party. Paku and Shiemi saw her in her casual outfit. She wore blue striped shirt with long sleeve, a red choker, a white pants, and gray sneakers.
"Hey Shizuka! So you are finally decided to join the dance?", Paku questioned her.
"Yeah, to be honest I'm excited!"
"Who's your date? Renzou?", Shiemi assumed.
Shizuka laughed nervously. "Actually... it's Lucifer."
They immediately grinned. It seemed their plans to put both of them together went smoothly.
"You should be excited. I heard that the dance party is good, so you should have fun. Besides, you have a date", Paku pinched her playfully." By the way, where is Lucifer?"
"He should be arrived here soon. I'm still waiting for him." Then Shizuka saw the Demon King. "There he is!"
Lucifer walked in a haste, looking for his date on this evening.
"Lucifer, I'm over here!", Shizuka shouted.
He immediately noticed her whereabouts. Lucifer ran to the place where she stand. "Hey Shizuka. You look good."
"Thanks."
"I see you have companies."
"Oh, we are just here to accompany her until you are arrived", Shiemi explained nervously.
"You look cute together. You have matching outfits!", Paku teased them, making the pair stood awkwardly. "We shall leave you alone. Meanwhile, take good care of our friend, Lucifer-san."
"You can leave her to me."
Now they were alone. The two saw that some couples have already started dancing. Lucifer observed that she was being shy in front of him. "Well, shall we?"
Shizuka nodded. He took her hands in his and started dancing slowly. The movements were now familiar to her. They danced gently.
"You have improved nicely compared to the first day I taught you to dance."
"Thanks. Renzou helped me a lot to practice. He told me that he wants to be my date to go the dance party, but knowing that you are my date, he decided to change his mind and helping the crews instead."
"Did he now? Hearing that he helped you make me feel somewhat jealous."
"You are actually jealous?", she raised one of her eyebrows. "Come on Lucifer. He's just a friend, just like Ryuji and the others."
"I know. Sorry."
They continued their dance. He whirled her body gently and pulled her closer then wrapped his arms around her.
"You are very different now compared to the first time we met. You were closeted."
"Then what do you think of me now?", he placed his hand on her cheek.
"You are getting more expressive. It seems that the King of Light can be awkward too sometimes", she giggled. Lucifer pinched her cheek mischievously, returning her teasing.
The music was changed. Now the song was more upbeat compared to the last. Lucifer was getting awkward. "Huh, the tempo is different now."
Unlike him, Shizuka was getting excited. The singers who were performed now singing her favorite song! "So what? Let's have some fun!"
"The thing is, I have never danced with music this loud before."
"Just follow the beat, Lucifer! Don't be afraid to look weird. Besides, look around you!"
He observed his surroundings, and he realized that she was right. These humans were having fun, without judging anyone. Lucifer tried to dance according to the music. He had to admit, this was a little odd to him. He felt a little out of place with his old taste, but looking at Shizuka's dance, he was entranced. Lucifer decided to follow her lead. "Hey, this isn't so bad. Actually I think this is kind of fun!"
"I told you. Come here!", she grabbed his arms and danced closer until their faces were only inches apart.
The next music had a little Mexican vibe in it. He ran his hands over her waist during their dance. She didn't seem to mind, and instead gave herself into his embrace. Lucifer even saw her singing some of the lines. Without him knowing it, he sang along.
"Hey, you know this song? I'm impressed! You have a good voice!", she praised him, making him feel prideful.
"I'm used to your culture now. Of course I would know. I would have to say, you modern humans have different tastes of music than those in my time but it's enjoyable", Lucifer smirked. "I don't sing often, but thank you for liking my voice."
Lucifer intertwined their hands and put his forehead closer to hers. "I swear Lucifer, if you becoming this attentive, I always feel like my heart will burst in my chest."
"Is that so?", he kissed her cheek.
Meanwhile, the other students and Demon Kings were watching their interaction. They were delighted.
"Oh my God, look at them! They are truly enjoying their time together!", Reina laughed. "I guess things went alright for both of them."
"I agree! I have never seen Lucifer this loving before!", Iblis replied. Her cheeks blushing.
"You girls are so noisy. Why can't we watch them in silence?", Amaimon appeared to be a little annoyed at their fussing.
"Oh, just shut up, Amaimon! We got a good show right here!"
Ryuji suddenly pointed his index finger at both of them in surprise. "Hey, look! What are they doing?"
Lucifer shown to get his face closer to Shizuka's. He wanted this, for the longest of time. Shizuka clung her arms around his neck.
"Oh my God, he's going to kiss her!", Izumo shrieked in excitement.
The rest of them became restless, curious to see what would happen next. Unlucky for Beelzebub who is the shortest of them all. "Hey, move aside for a little. I can't see!"
Unfortunately, the romantic vibe was gone due to the clapping of the audience in watching the performers. Time for the concerts to begin. They groaned in disappointment.
"Damn, what a bummer!", Renzou blurted.
Lucifer and Shizuka blushed deeply, noticing how close they were. Thank goodness, so far no one among the audience saw them like this. Their attention were on the entertainers. She suddenly went tired. "Lucifer, let's sit for a bit. I need a little rest."
"Alright. Come on." They sat on one of the nearest benches. He handed her a bottle of water. "That was tiring. The dance felt like a workout for me."
"Me too. But I'm enjoying it fully, because you are here with me."
Lucifer smiled, but it disappeared just as soon as it came.
"Lucifer, there's something that I would like to tell you", Shizuka suddenly spoke. The King of Light widened his eyes. The tone of her voice... she's serious. "I think I need to add some things about you look different."
Lucifer gulped. "What would they be?"
"I noticed that you treated me differently since you are awakened from your coma. You began to be more affectionate. The way you hugged me, spoken to me... a lot of them. I have been thinking about this for a while. Lucifer, what exactly are we?"
He felt like he was struck by a lightning. The important question. Of course she would ask this eventually. "It would be a lie if I deny that I didn't notice this too. Be welcome to call me a dunce, because I am one when it comes to define relationships. I mean, I have started to learn about it after I reincarnated with a new body in this life. One thing for sure, I have been thinking about this as well. I'm sure you can already tell that our relationship is more than just friends now."
"I fully realize that. Lucifer, friends are not doing this. Friends don't hug and kiss each other that closely. You told me that you always wanted to say something to me, are you?"
Lucifer closed his eyes. His heart beat fast like wings of a hummingbird. The King of Light could feel breath quickened. This was a perfect moment, perfect time to tell her his feelings while no one is watching! Even the music fits perfectly with their situation. He stood, "Yes, I always keeping it to myself. I hate to say this, but I have been keeping secrets from you again. Shizuka, I really want you to know about it, but I'm afraid."
Shizuka reached his hand and held it gently. "Afraid of what?"
He stared deeply into her green eyes, "Shizuka, I'm afraid if I tell you this, you aren't ready to hear the words coming out of my mouth. I can put our friendship into risk." Shizuka, you have no idea! I have loved you all this time!
To his confusion, she hold his cheek in her hand, "Actually, I have many things that I want to tell you too. It's alright, Lucifer. You can tell me everything. You know I'm always ready to listen."
Lucifer gave in to her touch, when she caresses his cheek. He held her hand and gave her the most loving gaze, appreciated all her attention. This human girl had truly captivated him in almost every ways possible. "Do you really eager to know, no matter the incoming consequences? This might make you looked upon by your surroundings."
"Do you forget? I have been dealing with it since I was a little. I'm much stronger now, and it's all thanks to you."
Lucifer was overwhelmed by the feelings he has for her. He kissed the corner of her lips, "Then come to the mansion tomorrow morning. There are so many things I want to tell you. I'll be waiting for you."
"I will come. I can't wait to listen to what you want to say."
Lucifer smiled charmingly to her and held her closer as they watched the concert. "Shizuka, thank you for inviting me to come with you. This is one of the best times I have through all my years since we know each other."
"Thanks for being my date", Shizuka reached his hand, and he held hers firmly.
Rin and the others were satisfied. "Well, that went pretty good", Rin commented on both of them.
"Oh, but I think this is not over yet", Mephisto grinned.
"What do you mean, Mephisto?"
"He hasn't told her his feelings yet."
"What? If he hasn't done that yet, then what is going to happen now?", Yukio raised his eyebrows in startle.
"Lucifer is not a fool, no matter how inexperienced he might be in feelings. I have a feeling that he's going to tell her when both of them are alone. But, good job everyone for arranging the situation for both of them."
In Todo's resident, Homare had a talk with her father.
"Homare, you really sure you are going to do this?", Saburota questioned her seriously.
"Yes, father. I have made up my mind. I will visit Lucifer tomorrow. I got something important to do."
