A/N: I made a promise to my readers that I would warn ahead of time if the story took a dive into the darkness. This story is rated M for a reason. This story is not intended for kids. You have been warned.

Maren turned Elsa around in her arms. "I do love you." She whispered against Elsa's neck. Tears streamed down her face as she opened her eyes to see Nokk with his head down. Elsa pulled back to lightly press her lips against Marens before she gently pulled out of her lover's arms and walked forward to run her hand down Nokk's body. "I don't know why I can't hear you." She sadly whispered as Ahtohallan began to shake. What the? Elsa thought as angry cracks appeared overhead. "Elsa, We have to move." Maren called out as a chunk of ice fell towards the unsuspecting Northuldran. Elsa screamed in terror as Nokk jumped forward pushing Maren safely out the way. "Thank you Nokk." Maren said as she clung to his neck. Maren looked up and gasped as a large piece of ice fell from above Elsa. "Elsa, Look out!" Maren screamed as she watched in horror as the ice crashed where Elsa was standing.

Anna was at her desk staring at the stack of papers in front of her. Elsa is going to be so mad at me. She sighed as the door opened. "Your Majesty, The soldiers are about to board the ships. I will send word as soon as we have a footing in the Southern Isles." Mattias stood at attention. Anna's brow furrowed. "No need to be formal Mattias. I wish you safe travels and most importantly be careful." Anna said as she stood up to walk around the desk to walk with the General out of the Castle. The Arendellian soldiers were in formation as Anna walked out of the gates. "I thank each of you for your loyalty to Arendelle and it's safety of her Queens." She firmly spoke. She looked around at the scene in front of her and sighed as she turned back towards the castle. I hope I'm doing the right thing.

Maren and Nokk stood motionless for a moment before scrambling to the large hole that appeared where Elsa was. "Elsa!" Maren yelled down into the emptiness. Nokk brayed and stomped around the room as they were met with silence. What do we do now? Maren thought to herself as she began to panic. "We have to find a way down there." Maren said to Nokk as he snorted. In the depths of the glacier, Elsa was locked in the fetal position as she squeezed her eyes shut. Holy shit. She focused on her breathing as she slowly opened her eyes. She felt a calming peace as her powers were humming around her entire body. She pushed herself upright slowly as she looked around the room. The sight of her magic glowing a soft blue around her, took her breath away. How? She thought as she looked at the boulder of ice now shattered around her. She gasped as her arms began to tingle as the cuts began to close. What the? She melted away her dress to see the blackish marks fading away. How? She thought as she replaced her dress. "You're not just a mortal anymore; That changed the moment you ascended." A voice boomed around her. "Mother?" Elsa looked up covering her mouth as tears collected in her eyes. "How was I so badly injured then?" Elsa quietly asked. "My sweet child, I am Ahtohallan. Remember, as long as your magic thrives you will remain unharmed, but if they falter it can lead to your death." Ahtohallan warned. "Now command your magic to get back to your Northuldran." The voice boomed once more. "Wait! Why can't I hear the other spirits any longer?" Elsa feared the answer. "Quite simply put, You were fighting against yourself." The voice echoed. Elsa sat in the darkness for a few moments before she concentrated on her hands. The floor lifted her into the air as she rose to fill the crack that was made when she fell through the ice. Maren and Nokk stood with their mouths agape as she lifted her arms and the room began to glow a soft blue. A moment later, Ahtohallan looked as it did when they entered. "Elsa." Maren whispered. "How did you..wait...Your bruises?" She had so many questions they formed into one sentence. Maren couldn't pull her eyes away from where the large black bruise was on her girlfriends face just a few minutes ago. Elsa smiled and walked over to Maren pulling her into an embrace. "My magic healed my body. I guess it's a perk of being the fifth spirit" Elsa quietly said with hint of mirth. Maren leaned forward and captured the winter spirits lips in a searing kiss. "I was so scared that I had lost you again." Maren whispered against Elsa's lips. "You have me as long as I am still breathing." Elsa smiled and continued the kiss. Get a room. Nokk snorted. Elsa pulled back and looked over at the water spirit. "I heard you!" She said with a smile. "Ahtohallan is mine, so it is technically my room." She glared at him. "We should get back to Arendelle before Anna sends out the entire Arendellian guard to find me." Elsa chuckled as she rolled her eyes.

The ride back to Arendelle took just under an hour. "I'll see you soon dear friend." Elsa quietly said as Nokk melted back into the fjord. She grabbed Marens hand starting a slow pace back to the castle. "I wonder how mad your sister is?" Maren asked. Elsa cringed, "I can only imagine." They looked around as people were looking at them quizzically. "Queen Elsa, You're better." A young boy called out as more citizens of Arendelle started to gather. Elsa's furrowed her brow. How did they know? "We were all so worried for you." Mrs. Nelson said. "Thank you. I was just under the weather. I am needed at the castle." Elsa concerned at the sympathetic stares she was receiving as Maren looked around. "Much to do in a time of war right your highness?" Mr. Nelson remarked. "War? What war?" Elsa looked over towards Maren. "Queen Elsa. The soldiers left this morning for the Southern Isles." Mrs. Nelson answered. "We have to go." Elsa turned and pulled Maren towards the castle quickly. They went through the gates and Elsa gasped. "The guards. There is barely anyone here." Elsa whispered to Maren. "I need to find Anna." She rushed through the castle straight for the Queens chambers. Anna jumped as the door slammed open. "How could you?" Elsa seethed as the temperature dropped in the room. "Elsa, I know your mad, but if we didn't follow through," Anna was cut off by the slap that crossed her face. An outlined hand in frost left behind. Elsa's mouth opened as she was at a loss of words and turned walking towards her bedroom. "I can't even." She yelled as she walked into her room. Anna and Maren didn't move as what happened finally started to sink in. "Are you okay?" Maren looked over to Anna who nodded her head. "I know your heart was in the right place, Anna." Maren said as she turned to leave the room to follow the elder monarch. She opened the bedroom door to a pacing queen. "Elsa, I know you're upset, but she was only doing what she thought was right." Maren tried as Elsa turned and glared. "What have I done?" Elsa put her face in her hands. Maren walked up and embraced the crying queen. "She'll forgive you. You both need to cool down for a minute." Maren whispered.

As the sun began to set, Maren cleared her throat. "I'm going to check on Anna. Would you like to come with me?" Maren looked over to her girlfriend who hadn't stopped looking out of the balcony door. "I'm still so mad. I don't think it's such a good idea." Elsa didn't move as she replied. Elsa heard the door close, and she put her face in her hands again. I can't believe I actually struck her. I have done everything to protect her from me. Elsa stood and began to pace. I am a horrible person. I should apologize. She grabbed the door walked out of the room. She knocked on the chambers door and didn't get a response. She must be really mad. "Anna?" Elsa carefully said as she pushed the door open and gasped. "Anna! Maren! Let them go!" She yelled as her hands began to glow at the sight in front of her. "Now now. Let's not be rash." Iver maliciously said as he smiled at his brother. "Why?" Elsa tried to hold her composure at the sight of her sister and girlfriend with knives held to their throat. "Do you want to save your bratty sister and this woman's lives?" He waited for her response. I have my magic to protect me, they don't. She thought to herself as she stared at the panicked look in their eyes. "I want to save theirs." She said as she lowered her hands. "If you wish to save them, go to the desk and you will find a syringe. I want you to inject yourself with it." Elsa's eyes locked onto Maren's. She sadly mouthed I'm sorry. Maren immediately began to thrash against Iver as she tried to get away. He tightened his grip as he whispered in her ear. If you don't stop moving, I'll kill you all before she makes it to the desk. Elsa. She froze."Elsa, Please! Don't do this!" Anna whimpered. Elsa turned away from them with tears falling down her face and walked over to the desk. She flinched at the crimson liquid in the syringe. I have no other choice. Elsa stabbed herself with the syringe and sunk to her knees as she felt it spreading like wildfire throughout her body.
