Hello Everyone,
The time is finally here…Class meetings. We get to see a little more of Tanya and Irina and the P.O.P.S. I hope you enjoy. Thank you all for reading and Helen for thinking logically for my scatterbrain. Happy Reading and I'll see you at the bottom.
I don't own any of the Twilight characters or material. I just make them run for class president to dethrone Tanya.
Chapter 21: Line in the Sand
After a side trip for someone to hug Jasper, we were close to the last ones there. Mr. Loch was writing out the order of business on the whiteboard at the first of the room.
Vote on Class officers.
Potential themes for V-Day Dance.
Other Fundraising Ideas.
Halloween Parade in the Gym.
"Alright," he said as he finished and turned to face us. "We have some things to get through. The quicker we get it all done, the quicker you can go to the Gym. So, first, Class officers," he said as he pointed to the writing on the whiteboard. "Okay. Any nominations for class presidents?"
Irina and Tanya both raised their hands and nominated each other and accepted. That CAN'T happen. I threw my hand in the air.
"Bella?" Mr. Loch calls, seeming to be trying to hide his relief.
"Edward," I said as I looked over quickly. He nodded, probably for the same reason that I was nominating him.
"Do you accept the nomination, Mr. Cullen?"
"Yes, sir."
"Alright, anyone else?" Mr. Loch asked, pausing, and then moving on. "How about for Vice President?"
Edward's hand was up before the question was all the way out of his mouth, but I had started it.
"Yes, Edward?"
"Bella," he said with a wink that clearly said 'payback', but I figured that was going to happen.
"Do you accept, Miss Swan?"
"Yes"
"Alrighty, anyone else?"
Tanya raised her hand, glaring at me.
"Katie," she said once she was called on, who accepted.
There were no other nominees for VP. Jake nominated Allie for treasurer. I nominated Rosalie for secretary along with the nomination of Victoria by Irina.
"Okay, then. Write your choice for each office on a slip of paper and pass them into me," Mr. Loch sat down at his desk to wait.
Clearly, the line in the sand was about to be drawn. Us or them. Hopefully, it would be at least some of us. Alice was running unopposed, but I was worried she may be all by herself. One by one, we handed in our makeshift ballots. Mr. Loch checks to make sure that he had everyone's and started to tally them up. It only took him 3 or 4 minutes. Armed with his tally sheet, he moved to the board to circle the name of the winners.
As a teaser, he circled Alice's name first. He started at the bottom after that, circling names as quickly as he could, stepping out of the way so that all of us could see the results. Rose had gotten secretary. I won the race for vice president, and Edward was president. Mr. Loch had us stand up and move to the front table to sit facing the rest of the class.
"Okay, now you four are in charge."
The three of us looked at our new fearless leader. Edward terrified and begged me to speak. I looked back at the board to see what Mr. Loch had scheduled next. Dance themes. Okay. I stood to speak.
"Okay, Mr. Loch asked us all to come up with dance themes for Valentine's Day. So, would you guys rather openly discuss them or send them up on papers and we can go through them like that?" I asked, waiting for suggestions of one or the other.
"Why don't we send them up and do it that why? I like that idea." Jake answered with a wink. While everyone was still looking back at him, I mouthed a thank you.
"So, let's vote. All in favor of that please raise your hands," I said, and everyone but Tanya and her cronies raised their hands, obviously needing to be contrary.
"Well then, everyone sends up your ideas on a sheet of paper, please," I said and sat down to wait. Edward pat my shoulder, and I saw Mr. Loch giving me a thumbs-up in the back of the room. Everyone went to work writing down a couple of themes each. We officers did the same.
"Mr. Loch, may we use the 'thinking' hard hat, please?"
"Of course, dear," he answered and come to set it down on the table in front of us. Slowly, we all finished putting our suggestions in the hat. After about five minutes, I made the last call.
"Okay, we are going to sort them and start with the ones that had the most suggestions," I said and handed the hat to Edward, who smirked and went to work. Good, since I was doing his job. Soon, he had 9 or 10 piles. Edward had sorted them and written the number of responses on the top one. He handed me one that had 5 responses.
"Disney Love. What are we thinking about here? Does anyone want to elaborate?" I asked looking around. I should have known where this one was from. Kate raised her hand and I nodded.
"Well, we would have anyone dress out as a Disney princess and prince or couple for the dance, and we could make some scenes with decorations for pictures."
"Okay, sounds interesting. Rose, can you please write that down next to Disney love in the notebook, please?" I asked, and she smiled and nodded. All of the rest had one or two except for one. Mine. I didn't know how. Alice must have told the boys. Edward handed me the stack with a smirk. Yep, Alice definitely said something.
"Cupid's Quill. Who would like to talk about this one?"
Alice raised her hand, and I nodded for her to speak. "Well, this idea would be along the same lines as the other one, but it would be open to movies, books, tv shows, and anything else you may want. For example, Romeo and Juliet, Will and Grace, Velma and Shaggy. Basically, you would come dressed as the couple that is most like you and your significant other." Allie beamed, and I saw that a few people who seemed to be happy that they had more options than Snow White, Aurora, and Belle. I smiled and had Rosalie wrote it down in her book.
We walked through the rest of the options, making down a couple more like Love in Paris, Night on the Beach, and Angels and Demons. Twenty minutes in, Mr. Loch raised his hand.
"Well, that is good for today. If our lovey secretary would type up that list for all of you and distribute it as soon as possible, we can vote next time. I would also like to ask on behalf of our new officers that you think about other fundraisers that we can have and bring them with you next time also. Let's have a round of applause for our officers," he said starting the clapping, Jake quickly following before most of the rest of the class. Two guesses who didn't. "Now, since a number of you have younger siblings, you're dismissed to join the audience and the parade." He finished as he comes up to the four of us. He waited until nearly everyone was gone – Tanya and Katie glaring as they went – to speak.
"Excellent job, you four. I think that our class is in good hands this year. I hope to see you all at the dance later."
"You sure will Mr. Loch, and thank you," Edward told him.
"Have you chosen your costumes?" I asked.
"Yes, but no hints, Swan." He walked away laughing somewhat manically.
"Dang it all," Alice said, gathering her things and getting up.
"Come on. I don't want to miss Nesmee. I promised we would wave," I said. We rushed out of the room, and Jake was waiting outside the door for us.
"Congrats, guys! Glad its not me! Though, I am a little scared," He said and winked at Edward conspiratorially. Alice and I looked at him in confusion.
"Why are you scared?" I asked him as we make the very short trip to the gym.
"I haven't read the books, and even I know you two in a position of power is dangerous," Jake joked, and Alice and I turned toward him and smacked a shoulder each.
"I see what you mean, Jake," Edward said.
"Do you want one, Cullen?" Alice and I threatened, raising our hands. Edward flinched, and we giggled as we entered the gym and searched until we found a beaming little Tinker Bell.
End Note: Next up…the rest of the parade and we get to meet Esme again. We have dinner at the Cullen's house with Carlisle, Esme, and the gang. Let me know what you think? See you soon.
