Yay! I wrote a creepypasta. ^^
The sounds of a whole construction crew at work complete with sounds of saws on wood, hammers on nails, and jackhammers on concrete happened to wake Shadow up this morning, so he exited his room to investigate while rubbing his eyes and ears with his fists.
It was Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 and he had previously planned to catch up on his sleep just before school started the week after spring break on Monday, but it was currently 2:30 am, and this was not happening today.
Opening the door to the second floor restroom (the one between Sonic's and Honest's bedrooms), the government's arguably best but most likely just the most diligent agent was met with a peculiar scene. The whole of the Chaotix detective agency was installing some sort of strange extension to the room that required a mix of lumber and robotic parts and the removal of the bathtub and shower. Vector, Espio, and Charmy all looked up at once and waved. "Good morning!" they all said in a cheerful unison.
Shadow gave them all a piercing stare and shut the door.
"Good morning!" came a shout from behind him. The striped hedgehog jumped and turned around, his fur standing on end and ruffled from sleep.
Honest laughed, but Shadow didn't think any of this was very funny.
"What's going on in that room?" he demanded. Honest clasped her hands behind her.
"Well, you see, I was reading the-one-manga-series-I-will-forever-be-reading-for-the-rest-of-my-natural-born-life-due-to-how-many-hundreds-of-chapters-have-been-and-are-continuously-being-released-every-single-day, and in one chapter an alien princess invented an amazing invention that allowed her to transform the bathroom in the main character's house into a full-size bath house with the push of a button. It was really great for a one-chapter plot, but then it wasn't really used anymore. Won't it be super cool when it's completed?"
The red and black pineapple thought for a moment. "Actually, yeah, that might be really cool."
Honest smiled. "The pool is going to have a heater installed on the sides so that the water stays warm, and I'm going to have Tails go buy us a bunch of non-slip tile for the flooring. By the way, the Chaotix may be doing all the heavy construction, but Tails is in charge of all the hydraulics plus the aesthetics and design work. He's in the kitchen right now getting something to eat."
Suddenly the hedgie's eyes became slate voids. "We're... feeding them?"
Honest nodded fervently. "Yeah. How else did you expect me to pay them?"
When his expression didn't change, Honest sighed. "What's wrong? Are you being selfish with your food or something?"
He then exploded. "Selfish?! Aren't you worried that they'll overstep their bargain?"
Honest shook her head now in the same fervent manner as when she had nodded it. "Snow wasn't. She said she's going shopping this afternoon, so it's fine. After all, I can write in however much money we need." She pulled a yellow legal pad and pen out of nowhere. "'Just then, a sack containing 300 shut-Shadow-up rings appeared above them and fell to the floor, spilling its contents at the stuck-up hedgie's feet,'" Honest read aloud as she wrote.
Just then, a sack containing 300 shut-Shadow-up rings appeared above them and fell to the floor, spilling its contents at the stuck-up hedgie's feet.
There were words printed on the front of the sack that read "Are you happy now?".
Shadow scrunched up his face.
"... That's cheating."
After sitting around the kitchen table with a particular two-tailed two-timer and devouring a breakfast of peanut butter tortillas, Honest and Shadow decided to go to Honest's room and play Sonic and Sega Racing Transformed Bonus Edition for Christmas 2012 on Honest's new HDTV. Scourge had bought it for their club before spring break, and so Honest had brought it to her house during the break so that she could enjoy playing games in HD for a short while.
While waiting in the multiplayer lobby for the only five players in the world still playing multiplayer in that seven-year-old game to choose their characters and get ready to race, Honest told Shadow the story of the mystery racer "Cadaver"- a creepypasta Honest had come up with herself.
"Once I was participating in a race on the track Race of Ages. I was playing on A-Rank difficulty, so my chances of winning were slim. I was tenth place for most of the race, until the last lap, that was. I got an All-Star power up at the section where you're racing on a strip of RAM with holes in it everywhere. I thought, 'If I use this power up here, I will fall through all of the holes and not make any advancement in place.' So, I decided to hold onto that All-Star power-up for as long as I could so that I could use it in the boat part to get ahead. I made it to the boat part while still in last place, and used my All-Star finally. I was afraid that it would be taken away if I held onto it for too long, but it didn't, thankfully. I passed all nine other racers with a combination of All-Star speed and skillful turning. However, when I approached the portal that causes you to teleport you to the finish line, something strange happened.
"I was first place with no one even close to passing me, except suddenly I had someone on my bumper. This player came out of nowhere. It was driving in Tails's plane, and it looked like Tails Doll but green. It passed me and that was when I saw its name, which was displayed next to his icon. It said "Cadaver". I was so outraged that someone had passed me, but I was also severely disturbed by this strange racer's appearance. I watched helplessly as this racer passed me and I was put into second place. However, when I reached the result screen, I was blown away when I saw that I was still, in fact, first place! It was as if this strange "Cadaver" character hadn't passed me at all. In fact, his name didn't appear anywhere in the results. The character in second place was Amy. However, upon closer inspection, I realized that this wasn't at all the Amy I remembered. The name was correct, but the icon resembled Tails. When I watched the winners cut scene where the top three racers stand on the winners' podium, the second place winner was the green Tails Doll that I had seen in the race. Instead of playing a cheerful animation of the racer celebrating their victory, this racer just floated there. At the last second before the screen faded to the menu, the strange racer's head snapped to focus on me. Then, the game crashed."
When Honest finished her tale, she ended it with a spooky voice. Shadow just laughed.
"That can't be a true story," he told her.
Honest sighed. "Yeah, it isn't, but that's the point of stories like that. They're supposed to make you think. It made you think, didn't it?"
Shadow thought for a moment. "Uh... yeah, I guess. How did you come up with that?"
Honest noticed that the racers were starting to pick their characters now on the screen. "Once I was reading the names of the characters on my tail in the Egg Hangar race, and I misread one of them as "Cadaver". In the Race of Ages, all that stuff with the All-Star power up really happened. Then I got beaten by Beat and was sore, so I came up with that story to make me feel better... Anyway, let's start the race!"
All of the other people in multiplayer had chosen their characters now, so the countdown had started: "Five, four, three, two, one, zero!" The race began.
It wasn't all too far into it that Honest realized she had no chance of catching up to the other characters. They were way too far ahead of her. She was playing as Gum, and Shadow was playing as Pudding. Honest thought she was bad, but Shadow was last and was way behind her. I guess you could say she was "WAY out in front!"...Yeah, I'm not sure you'll get that reference... Actually, did I make that one up? If not, then maybe you will get it. It's from the game Destruction Derby 2 for the PlayStation One. When you're in the lead, the announcer says you're "WAY out in front!". And, somehow, it became a meme. Actually, were memes even around in 1996? Hm.
Anyway, Honest and Shadow both ended up blaming their incompetence on lag.
I'm ending this chapter here despite it being short. Please give me feedback on the story so far in the form of a review, and there will definitely be more coming soon. Maybe... in the next twenty seconds. I finished writing this chapter on March 26th, 2019.
