Chapter 25: Your quirk
Deku's P.O.V
We had just gotten finished with the second part of the exam; The Rescuing portion.
Once again, Ochako and I teamed up with Bakugo and Starla.
We devised a plan to distract the others while Ochako and I started rescuing the civilians.
While I dealt with the semi-villains, Uraraka saved the people trapped.
Bakugo was looking at me using my quirk.
"That quirk…." He said.
"Bakugo, help me!" Starla said.
That wind guy had her cornered.
"Its been fun for a while," he said, "But its time to bring this to a close…."
Bakugo shot a concentrated blast that was smaller than usual pushing him away.
"Are you alright?" He asked Starla.
She nodded.
"Good," Bakugo said, "Now let's get moving."
The others were working twice as hard.
Todoroki decided to use his quirk in his own way nothing like his father.
Momo couldn't have been more amazed.
"Looks like those words got to him didn't they?" Mina asked teasing her.
After a while, the exam came to a close after the civilians were rescued.
Students were worrying about how they did.
We were looking at a giant screen that showed the names of the people who passed.
Most of Class 1-A including me, Ochako, Starla and others made it.
Bakugo didn't see his name anywhere.
"Damn it," he said.
"Don't sweat it Bakugo," I said, "You still have a chance to do the make up one."
"Well that's true," Bakugo said before he turned to Ochako.
"Huh?"
"That fight with you in the sports fest taught me something important," Bakugo begun, "All my life i've been relying on brute strength and force to win the battles."
He remembered the fight between him and Ochako.
While he was strong, Ochako was smart and devised that plan.
"It made me realize that it takes more than brawn to win," Bakugo said, "And I thank you for that. No wonder Midoriya fell in love with you."
I blushed a dark red.
Todoroki saw his name.
People were amazed at how he made a fighting style that was nothing like Endeavor.
Ochako tackled me to the ground giving me a kiss.
"Congrats Deku-kun!" She said smiling.
She kissed me again.
"Woooo get some of that Uraraka!" Mina said.
"Alright guys, let's get some grub on," Kirishima said, "Food's on me!"
Ochako looked up to the sky.
"I'm well on my way Mom and Dad," she said smiling.
I was happy for her knowing her dream was close to coming true.
Later we were at a restaurant that Kirishima paid for.
Momo helped a little bit since she's from a rich family on her mother's side.
While I was getting myself situated, Eri had her eyes set on some cookies.
She was about to take one but Ochako caught her.
"Sweetie, I know you like those foods, but its also important to have a balance of foods before consuming sweets," she said smiling, "If you're good, you can have one after dinner."
Eri nodded.
"Yes Mama," Eri said.
Ochako kissed her forehead and she giggled.
Mina was cooing at them.
"So precious," she said.
As we were having our food, Kirishima pulled out a cup.
"A toast to the man who helped us get so far in our lives in UA, Izuku Midoriya," he said pointing to me, "A boy who helped us see the better in ourselves and inspired us to keep going despite the hardships that are thrown at us."
I blushed.
"I didn't really do anything special," I said rubbing my back.
"Bitch please, you took out a member of the league of villains," Bakugo said.
"Not to mention when you beat Big Jack, the strongest student of Class 1-B, without your quirk no less!" Kirishima said, "Not many students can do that, nor live to tell the tale. To Izuku."
"To Izuku!" Said everyone.
"Next to Starla," Mina said pointing to Starla, "You had an incredible idea with your quirk, integrating your illusions with drones made by Hatsume, giving your illusions powerful damage!"
"Well what can I say?" Starla asked, "I'm unpredictable."
"Next to Momo," Kirishima said, "who's always creating things to help us out of scrapes, such as those face masks during the training camp."
Todoroki patted her shoulder.
"To the rest of you, our future is only beginning," Kirishima told us, "But as long as we stick together, literally anything is possible! And the biggest toast, to Aizawa."
We all looked to him.
"I'm just your professor," he said.
"A professor who taught us what it meant to be a true hero," I stated, "You believed in me and helped me learn to better control my quirk."
He chuckled and said, "At least I'm doing something right."
"You bet your ass," Bakugo said.
Ochako noticed Eri watching the match between me and Big Jack on Todoroki's phone.
She went over to Momo and whispered something into her ear.
The idea made her smile.
"Hey Eri?" Momo asked.
"Yes Auntie Dolly?"
"Wanna see something cool?"
Using her quirk, Momo made a small doll that looked just like….. me.
"Is that, Papa?" She asked.
"Yes it is," Momo said, "Your mama gave me the idea."
She handed it to Eri and she took it politely.
"Thank you Auntie Dolly," she said as she bowed.
Everyone looked in awe at my first ever hero march.
I reached down and picked her up.
"Look Papa, its you," she said.
I looked at it and waterfalls came from my eyes.
"Like mother like son," Ochako said smiling.
Back at UA I was doing some training exercises.
Someone approached me.
"Midoriya," they said.
I turned around to see Bakugo.
"What's up?" I asked him.
He gave me his signature deadpan look.
"For the longest time I assumed you were just a weakling who was only wanting to pick a fight," Bakugo said, "But it looks like I was wrong."
He remembered the first time we fought during battle training.
He was surprised that I got the upper hand.
"I assumed you got the quirk from All Might for years, but in the end, it turned out to be your own."
"Well, I was surprised by that as well," I said, "I thought it was his quirk but…"
"The point is, you've shown a lot of resolve, and you ended up getting your hero license," Bakugo said, "It made me realize you're stronger than I anticipated."
He got in a fighting stance.
"And now its time to prove it."
Aizawa was watching us.
"This should be interesting," he commented.
Bakugo came at me and I evaded his attack.
I then charged up for an aura blast.
I shot it at him and he blew it away.
Bakugo then shot an explosion blast at me. I evaded it but got a small injury on my arm.
"Not bad," Bakugo said, "You're learning how to read my attacks. But it takes more than reading every movement to fight."
He dashed at me quickly with a barrage of punches.
I was able to catch each of them.
He caught me off guard and did an uppercut move.
I quickly got back up and did a sweep kick.
"We admired the same man for years, yet he chose you," Bakugo said, "Because he sees something in you that I lack."
He came at me with more barrage attacks.
I kept avoiding him hoping I could tire him out.
I knew I couldn't run from the fight anymore.
"Alright, if you want a fight, you got one."
I used my buff to make myself stronger.
We clashed at each other multiple times.
Despite the strength he had, I could still hold my own.
We clashed with legs and fists each of us blocking back.
Bakugo grabbed my leg and nearly threw me back but I got out of the grab with ease.
"This is the power I've been wanting to see," Bakugo said, "But it won't be enough to stop me!"
He shot explosions at me and I evaded each of them.
I shot a fully charged aura blast at him and he was knocked back.
I then charged up energy in my arm.
I lunged at him.
"Aura… SMASH!"
I hit him with so much force that he went through dozens of trees.
I came out of my buff.
"Bakugo?"
I rushed to him to make sure he was ok.
He got up and chuckled.
"Jesus kid, you really do have strength," Bakugo said, "Its no wonder All Might chose you to be his successor."
Someone clapped their hands.
It was All Might.
"Bakugo, there was a reason why I chose Midoriya," he said, "You were already strong and on your way to becoming a hero. Although Midoriya was powerless at first, he was a bigger hero with a bigger heart than anyone else."
Bakugo looked to him.
"I have my weaknesses too, and its my fault you're like this."
Tears came from his eyes.
"If I hadn't let myself get kidnapped by those villains, this wouldn't have happened."
All Might shook his head.
"Either way I was approaching my limit, but what I did was my choice alone," All Might said, "Don't force yourself to carry that weight. Midoriya has admired your strength, and I see you admire his spirit."
Bakugo nodded.
"I do," he said, "Despite what he's gone through, he still refuses to give up. I guess that drove me to keep trying to be a better person."
I grinned.
"If you two can respect each other and lift each other up from the ground, you will become the ultimate heroes," Aizawa said, "Now would you two go to bed already? You'll wake up the neighbors."
He turned to me.
"And as for you Deku," he said, "I know you're trying to get your body use to your quirk's full power, but there's no need to rush. Take it step by step."
"Yes Sensei," I said.
"Oh, and if you run into the others, tell them as of today, their INST course requirements have been cut in half, thanks to All Might."
Both of us were surprised, as we would be able to participate in more hero courses.
"Or is it thanks… to you," he said as he grinned.
Bakugo smiled.
"Moving on," he said looking to me, "Mark my words. I will get stronger and best you in combat."
"Well until that day comes, I'll be waiting," I said.
We shook hands.
And with that, Act 6 is done. Midoriya has earned his license and is one step closer to becoming a pro hero, and Bakugo has found a new goal to achieve. However, his true test has only just begun. What new villains will emerge from the shadows? Tune in and find out!
