Mending A Broken Heart
Chapter 26
Kagome pieced the Sacred Jewel back together and quickly went to her mate's side. Sesshomaru had transformed back into his humanoid form and had fallen to his knees with blood flowing down his side.
"Sesshomaru, are you all right?" Kagome asked with concern as she reached him. Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at her as if he was saying 'what do you think? '
"Take off your hankimono so I can see your wound better." She commanded, ignoring his eyebrow. For a moment, the only thing that seemed to move on the demon lord was his eyebrow, that raised even higher due to Kagome giving him a command. Then, he slowly began to remove his armour and clothing, leaving only his bottoms on. Kagome took a brief moment to admire Sesshomaru's bare chest before she focused on the long deep cut on his side. She closed her eyes and called upon her healing powers to began to close the wound. Soon enough, the wound closed and Sesshomaru wasn't looking so pale.
"Feeling better?" Kagome asked as she sat back on her heels.
"Yes, thank you, love." Sesshomaru replied quietly.
"You're welcome. I am going to go check in the others." She kissed Sesshomaru on the cheek before raising to her feet and began to walk towards the others.
"Kagome," Sesshomaru said before she had taken two steps. He waited until waited until she turned back around to look at him. "We are still going to discuss your disobedience later." Anger flashed across Kagome's eyes, but all she did was slightly inclined her head in acknowledgement and walked towards the others.
They were all sitting in a little circle, talking excitedly. Kagome sat down beside Inuyasha and pulled out the Sacred Jewel. Everyone became quiet after inquiring how Kagome was.
"It is time to get rid of this thing for good." Kagome announced solemnly.
"Do you know what is the correct wish?" Sango asked.
"Yes."
"What if I want to make a wish?" Inuyasha argued. Kagome just ignored him and silently wished the jewel out of existence before Inuyasha got any ideas about taking it from her. They all watched the jewel disappear from Kagome's hand. "Hey!" Inuyasha exclaimed. "I was going to use that to bring Kikyo back!"
"Inuyasha, you very well know that making a selfish wish like that would only corrupt the jewel further. Wishing it out of existence was the only way to stop the madness." Kagome explained. "Now, does anyone need healing?"
"Only minor injuries here." Miroku replied, gesturing to him and Sango. "No need to tax yourself. Now, can we please talk about your appearance? What has occurred?" Kagome suddenly feel a bit self conscious under everyone's stares.
"It appears that I have turned into a demon." Kagome answered quietly.
"Yes, thank you! I knew you were turning into a demon!" Sango said excitedly. "You look beautiful by the way."
"Thank you, Sango."
"And you didn't think to share this tiny bit of news with the rest of us?" Inuyasha chimed in sarcastically.
"Geez, Inuyasha, I am sorry I didn't have the chance to mention it between being kidnapped and fighting for our lives!" Kagome answered angerily.
"Sorry. Just thought that it would something worth mentioning." Inuyasha said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"So, what do we do now?" Sango questioned after a few minutes of silence.
"We can move on with our lives. Plan our wedding." Miroku suggested. Sango beamed at the monk, nodding in agreement to his suggestion.
"What about you, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked.
"Prepare for the birth of my child and Miroku said, move on. We have all spent too much time on this adventure. We deserve to have some peace finally." Kagome responded.
"Kagome, you will visit often, yes?" Sango questioned eagerly.
"As often as she can." Sesshomaru confirmed before Kagome could comment he walked up to join the group. Kagome smiled lovingly up at him. He finally understood how much her friends meant to her.
"What about me? What I am supposed to do now if you four are getting married and having babies?" Inuyasha whined. Kagome rolled her eyes at his complaining.
"Well, Inuyasha, you seem to have a number of choices now that you aren't chasing Naraku or stuck to a tree any longer. You could go back to the villiage to live. Or you could find a nice girl to settle down with. You could continue to travel the world, helping those in need It is really up to you what you do next." Kagome answered.
"But I don't know what I want to do!" The whine came again from the half demon, basically ignoring any of Kagome's suggestions.
"Growing up might be a good start. I have another suggestion. If you can stand living with Kagome and myself, I would be willing to train you so you could better master your fighting skills and power." Sesshomaru replied. Kagome looked up at him with shock in her expression. She had never expected him to so openly offer such a thing. Inuyasha seemed equally as stunned. He just stood there with his mouth hanging open in shock for several moments. "So, what do you say, little brother?"
"I...I say... I don't need any training, especially from the likes of you!" Inuyasha finished, finding his voice again. Sesshomaru just shrugged and turned to Kagome.
"I would think the children are worried about you. Could you please say your goodbyes to Sango and Miroku for now?" Sesshomaru asked mildly. Kagome nodded and went to hug her friends.
"I will see you soon. We have a wedding to plan!" She giggled with Sango and hugged her friends again before going to where Sesshomaru waited for her.
"You are just going to leave Inuyasha to his own devices then?" She asked in her mind as she stopped beside Sesshomaru. He formed his cloud beneath their feet before answering her in the same manner.
"For now. He will come around soon enough. His desire to become more powerful will outweigh his disgust for me as a teacher in the end. I believe he will take Sango and Miroku back to the village and then make his way to the palace."
"You are probably correct." Kagome waved to her friends one last time as Sesshomaru took flight towards their waiting children.
More to come hopefully soon as time permits! Thank you for being such loyal fans! Please review!
