Long Live the Evil Triplet
Chapter 19
Never Underestmate Luis
Luis slumped up against the wall of the mansion. His hopes dashed, his heart pounding hard against his chest. Della, his mom, had called him Luis for the first time in his life. She knew about him. Threatened him, even.
But why?
How did she know about him when no one else knew except his brothers and Uncle Donald? What information did she want to know?
Sure, she had wanted to know where Dewey and Huey were, as if they were all the mattered, but that wasn't it. That wasn't the real information she wanted, or else she would have stopped right there. Instead, she threatened him to stop trying to break the curse.
Or else.
Suddenly a realization came to him. That couldn't have been Della. Della would never be that hostile towards her own sons. Not after she just literally came back from space to be with them. Luis's stomach twisted into a knot.
He knew who that really was, and he didn't like the fact that she had wormed her way into Della's body, made her do and say things that normal she wouldn't.
Magica De Spell had been on to Luis from day one. She must have sensed the curse waning. Getting close to being broken. She wasn't going to let up that easily. Not when it came to them, his Uncle Scrooge, and the number one dime.
Luis knew what he had to do. Knew that he had to make it extra believable for Magica to believe he wasn't trying to break the curse.
To protect his brothers.
If not...
Luis shooked his head, and straightened himself up.
No.
He wasn't going to let her get the better of him.
He was Luis.
He was the evil triplet.
It was time he started acting like it.
He marched up the stairs towards his bedroom. He opened it just as a fist came at him from Dewey. Luis staggered back and held the tip of his bill as blood began to drip from it.
"Damn it, Dewey!" Luis hissed, his eyes watering as he pushed passed him and quickly shut the door behind him.
"Stay away from Webby!" Dewey shouted at him, glaring at him.
Huey didn't try and restrain Dewey this time. He crossed his arms and glared at Luis too.
"Will you keep it down?" Luis hissed at him. "I'm -."
"No! I will not keep it down!" Dewey yelled.
Luis looked over at Huey for help, he only shrugged. Luis groaned in frustration, and rolled his eyes.
"What are you trying to do, Luis? Rip a whole in my heart? Are you jealous that you don't have one?" Dewey spat at him.
"Back off, Dewford!" Luis shouted, no longer wanting to keep his voice down. "I'm trying to help -."
"Help?" Dewey interrupted. "HELP? You don't even know the meaning of that word! You've been tormenting Huey and me since yesterday, you went after the girl I like and you knew that, and, and, you left us in the woods to deal with, with..." His voice wavered and his eyes teared up.
"Why didn't you tell us about the curse?" Huey whispered, stepping in.
Luis looked at him.
He didn't even seem that bothered by the fact that Luis had been keeping important things from them.
"I take it Luther told you." Luis said, and smirked, "how'd that go by the way?" He asked.
"Terrifying." Huey snapped back. He slowly put an arm over Dewey's trembling body. "I managed to trap him in that stove.
"And the rest of the pack?" Luis asked.
"They just left." Huey told him.
Luis frowned.
"Left? That's not how it goes." Luis muttered.
"Stop trying to change the subject, Luis." Dewey snarled, jerking away for Huey and took a step towards him again.
"Huey asked about the curse, now, I'm asking you about Webby. Do you have feelings for her? Because if you do, I, I'll back off her okay. I rather be alone and her safe instead of being with her and dealing with your torment for us."
Luis blinked.
Feelings. For Webby?
Luis smirked again making Dewey come at him. This time though, Luis was ready and side stepped him making Dewey run smack into the closed door behind him.
"Look, I didn't tell you about the curse, because I was protecting you from it! As for Webby," He looked back at Dewey who forced himself up from the door. "I'm not sure how I feel about her, that aside, we've got bigger problems to deal with."
He looked back at Huey.
"You said the pack just left right?" He asked.
Huey nodded, not really wrapping his mind about what he had just told them.
"That's not how it works. Usually when a pack leader is killed, another one takes its place." Luis told him. "They wouldn't just leave, unless, someone -."
Howls interrupted his sentence sending chills down his spine.
Huey and Dewey stared at one another before rushing to the window and looking out. About fourteen pairs of eyes glared back at them from the edge of the forest.
Huey swallowed hard as Luis came up beside them.
They looked hungry, and out for revenge.
"Great." Luis groaned. "Just what I need."
He glanced at the alarm clock near their beds. It was almost midnight now. Pretty soon the leader will show itself soon. He had to be ready. No doubt the newest leader will have an ax to grind with him.
"What are we going to do?" Huey whispered, fearfully. "I barely took on Luther. I don't think I can take a whole pack of them..."
He glanced over at Luis. He had a grim look on his face.
"They're after me, aren't they?" Huey asked him. "They know I killed their leader, now -."
"Now, you have to become their leader." Luis interrupted.
"M,Me. Leader?" Huey squeaked.
"You wanted this, didn't you?" Dewey accused him, glaring over at Luis. "Why else would you make us take him on by ourselves? You wanted one of us to take over the pack so that they'd quit hunting us."
Luis looked him straight in the eyes.
"I'm right, aren't I?" He demanded to know as Dewey's eyes flashed with anger.
Luis slowly nodded.
"Was this you protecting us too?" Huey asked, Luis turned to him and heard the hurt in his voice. "Or was it to get rid of one of us? Make it easier on you to deal with just one brother so that you can, I dunno, continue your plan? You weren't protecting us at all, were you?"
"Not as dumb as you look, are you, Huebert." Luis snickered.
"I'm gonna kill you!" Dewey screeched and raced for Luis again.
Luis did a three-sixty and thrusted out his arm at Dewey making him fall to the ground. He pinned him to the carpet. Luis's eyes blazing into his.
"Never underestimate me, Dewford. I can't do what I need to do with that pack out to get me, now, can I?" He said. He glanced over at Huey who looked like he was on the verge of crying.
Being used by their younger brother.
Just to get them out of the way...
"I won't do it." Huey spat.
Luis's stomach twisted into a knot. This, this was the part he hated. The part that was the hardest.
"You have to, Huey." Luis said, his voice breaking. "T,They'll kill everyone you care about if you don't." He whispered.
Luis hadn't lied at all to Webby.
He had been protecting them, all of them. For Louie's sake. Trying to get Louie to see that Luis wasn't all bad. To give Louie the push he needed to take control...
"No! Huey, you don't have to do this! Just hang on! I think I'm almost -." Louie shouted in Luis's ear making Luis wince.
"Nerp. Not now, Lou-Lou." Luis said, out loud.
"Louie." Dewey said. "Louie, come on! Fight him, fight Luis's control! We need you Louie, we miss you -."
Luis gave Dewey a sharp look and pressed his hand firmly on his mouth. Bits of blood dripping from Luis's bill from where Dewey punched him earlier dripped onto Dewey's cheek. Huey stood frozen, unsure what to do.
"Shut up. Dewey! She'll hear you!" Luis whispered.
Dewey's eyes widen in fear, as he struggled underneath his brother.
Luis looked towards the door in alarm as it slowly began to turn...
