Chapter 21 – The End
"MOM" EJ yelled at the top of her lungs.
I just shook my head, she looked just like me but she was her daddy's girl through and
through. I walked down the hallway to her room. Her curlers were in her hair, she was
franticly looking for something.
"What's wrong baby?" I asked, she stopped and let out a deep breath.
"I can't find my locket" she said looking around, I shook my head and pulled it out of her
jewelry box. She looked like she was going to snap.
"Relax honey, how about you go sit down and I'll help you fix your hair" I said, she
smiled and sat down at her vanity.
"You ready for tonight?" I asked she smiled.
"Yeah, just excited I guess" she said, I pulled the curlers out of her hair, running my
fingers through her hair before grabbing the brush and bobby pins. I started styling her
hair they way she wanted it.
Tonight was her senior prom and she was up for prom queen.
Ethan was off at his friends house, he was following his father's footsteps and was one of
the top players for USC. Emmett was so proud; we attended every game no matter where
it was.
Embry was on the JV football team at their high school; and couldn't wait to get to
college. So much he was at the top of his class with a 4.0 grade average and is doing
everything he can to graduate early.
Emma Jane was heading to New York, I couldn't be more proud of my baby. She was
majoring in Fashion Design, she was going to be starting an internship with Alice as her
assistant. We already had our condo there, so she wouldn't truly be on her own.
Em and I have been pretty busy over the years. Both of our acting careers were really
amazing for a time, but like all dreams when you get older. Reality starts to set in.
Now we are the proud owners of "Triple threat Productions", we ended up partnering
with Esme about 8 years ago. We produce films, I have yet to direct but I just don't see
that being a calling for me. Emmett is waiting for that perfect script.
When 'Letters to her' was released it was bitter sweet for all of us. The drama didn't
really die down until a few months after the premier. We ended up escaping to Hawaii for
almost a year.
After everything Emmett and I were rather respected through the industry. We both have
played rolls in movies. Emmet and I have each been nominated a few times; but never
won. We don't really care it was honored being recognized. Destiny was the only film we
have been in together.
We slowed down as the kids got older. We still kept trucking head on with our
foundation. We now have 28 locations across the US. We try and visit as many as we
can, now that the kids are getting older we have more opportunities to do so.
Edward and Kate are still doing well, after the twins were born Edward took some much
needed time off. He was still one of the hottest celebrities to be followed, his career took
off with Kate by his side. When the twins were 3, Kate got pregnant again but lost the
baby when she was 18 weeks along. It broke her in ways I didn't think were ever
possible. After that they backed out of the spot light to let their family heal. Kate never
went back to work, and eventually became Edward's assistant. She's never been happier.
Edward took a few steps back and has never really gone fully into the spotlight again.
Alice and Jasper are still going strong, Brandon is also at USC he will be graduating this
year. He also has offers from the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and Washington
Redskins. I have a feeling he will settle in New York, rumor is he has the hots for Alice's
new assistant.
I haven't told Emmett about it yet, no need for a panic attack.
They have another son Maxwell, he is the spitting image of Jasper, but has Alice's
energy. It's actually like being in the Twilight Zone. He is starting his freshman year of
high school, Jasper has taken a back seat to things much like Emmett and Edward, but
has taken over Alice's position as Carlisle's assistant when Carlisle works.
"Ok, what do you think?" I asked EJ as I turned her around to the mirror. Her face lit up.
"Mom, it's perfect" she said and hugged me.
"Ok let's get your makeup done and then your dress" I said, she nodded sitting back
down.
Emmett and I have had our struggles in our marriage. Having him and I work separate
can be tough, especially if a hot young actress is in the movie. Dealing with just the
emotional bullshit seeing your husband on the cover of magazines with another woman.
What a lot of the pictures didn't show you is I was just a few feet away or they cropped
my body out for hers. I always knew the truth and never questioned his love or devotion
to me but I'm a woman and it was annoying.
Yeah we still hated the media.
We took another blow when the kids would come home in tears hearing the rumors and
not realizing it's all fake. Getting questions from their friends, also people getting close to
them because of who they were related to. When Ethan was in 7th grade, we took the
kids out of public school and into private. It made our lives so much easier. We found a
school that 70% of the kids came from celebrity families or families with ties to the
industry. At that point the kids excelled in their schooling and we knew we had made the
right decision.
We were happily shocked when none of the kids wanted to go into acting. The closest
thing was EJ but she never wanted to be in front of the camera, unless Alice is trying to
debut a new line and no one can say no to the pixie.
We were shocked and pleasantly surprised when Alice launched her fashion line. We all
knew she had an eye for things but she kept it so quiet. Then BAM, Pixie Fashion was
born.
Carlisle and Esme are unofficially retired, they work when they want to. They are more
of a supportive role than anything. But are truly never gone.
Mom and Dad are doing well, enjoying the grandkids. Dad is so proud of the boys. He
and Em work clinics with the team. The whole team looks up to Emmett, he has been
offered coaching jobs but it isn't what he wants to do 100%, but he helps when he can.
Mom is the best, she has been my support system through everything. I have learned so
much from her, and she has been there to help me when I needed a mom. I love her very
much.
Jake and Claire are really doing well. They have 4 kids now, they were pleasantly
surprised in their last pregnancy with twins. Unfortunately she hemorrhaged during
delivery and had to have her uterus removed. She was heartbroken, but after the twins hit
age 2,she was so relieved she couldn't have any more surprises.
Jake owns a very successful body shop and Claire still teaches. They come to LA once a
year, and stay for a month. We are all still very close.
"Ok so what do you think?" I asked EJ.
"Perfect, can you help me with my dress?" She asked, I nodded grabbing the garment bag
from her closet. Alice had insisted on creating a dress for her, she was so happy about it.
When she told Alice she was up for prom queen, I think my ear drum burst from the
squeal and I wasn't near the phone.
I zipped up her dress and fixed the strap, as my only daughter stood in front of the mirror.
She was my copy, but she has Emmett's baby blues.
"Honey you are beautiful" I said, she wrapped her arms around me.
"Thanks momma" she said, I helped her with her jewelry.
"OK slip on your shoes and I'll see you down stairs" I said, she nodded.
Half way down the stairs, the door bell rang. Emmett went to answer the door.
"Hi Mike come on in, she'll be down in a minute" Emmett said as Mike walked through
the door.
Mike was EJ's best friend. He's gay and she's unofficially with Brandon. Since they both
wanted to go to prom, they were going together. Emmett was beyond thrilled at the idea.
"HI Mrs. McCarty" Mike said kissing my cheek.
"Hello, don't you look handsome" I said fixing his tie.
"Thanks, thank you for the references. I got the job thanks to you" he said smiling.
"I'm glad I could help, you have real potential." I said, he smiled.
"WOW" Emmett said, I looked behind me as EJ made her way down the stairs. I grabbed
my camera and took a few pictures.
"Honey, you look amazing" Emmett said twirling his daughter around.
"Thanks Daddy" she said kissing his cheek.
"Wow EJ you look smokin" Mike said kissing her cheek.
"Thanks Mikey. Ready?" She asked, he opened a box and pulled out a white orchid
corsage and slipped it on her wrist.
"Now we're ready, Don't wait up" Mike said.
"No worries, have fun. Call us if you need us. And GOOD LUCK" I said as they walked
out the door.
Emmett wrapped his arms around me as the limo pulled out of the drive way.
"So, Embry is at Kevin's. Ethan is gone for the weekend. What would you like to do Mrs.
McCarty?" Emmett asked kissing my shoulder.
"I'm thinking, pizza, beer, and really HOT SEX" I said, he smiled.
"Hmm, can I pick which one I get first" He said sucking on my neck as his hands
grabbed my ass.
"Depends" I moaned.
He picked me up and launched me over his shoulder and started to run up the stairs.
"Well I guess that answers that question…." I said..
