John looked over at Jaycee as they laid there. "So, how are you liking your honeymoon so far?"

She smiled and kissed him. "I love this honeymoon and I love you." She replied. "Did you call and check on Ethan today?"

"It's early morning there. I doubt they're up yet but if you want, I will call and let you talk to Ethan."

"I know he's safe but he's my baby."

John smiled and kissed her. "Alright, I'll call Charlie's phone." He picked up his phone and dialed her number and waited for her to answer.

Charlie groaned when her phone rang. She saw it was John. "Hello?" She said when she picked up.

"Hey sis, sorry to wake you but Jaycee was worried about Ethan."

Charlie couldn't help but laugh. "She's such a worrying parent." She said getting out of bed. She grabbed her robe and headed to Ethan's room. "You should know I grounded him."

"What for?" John asked.

"Phil and Ethan thought it would be a good idea to spy on my date."

John sighed. "Really? And whose idea was it to do that? Phil or Ethan?"

"I'm not sure. I think they had even blame in it."

"Alright. Jaycee and I will talk to Ethan when we get back. But Jaycee wants to talk to him now. So, can you get him?"

"Yeah. Hold on a sec." Charlie said as shook Ethan's shoulder and he opened his eyes. "It's your Dad."

Ethan sighed and took the phone. "Hey dad."

"Hey, little man." John said to him. "How is everything? Your mom wanted to check."

Ethan sighed. "I suppose Aunt Charlie told you that I was grounded."

"She did." He replied. "And you know spying isn't right."

"You spy on mom."

"I'm an adult. You don't get to do the same things adults do. We will talk about it more when we get back."

"Fine." Ethan replied.

"Now mom wants to talk to you." John said handing the phone to Jaycee.

"Hey, baby." Jaycee said when she took the phone.

"Hey mom."

"You're being good aren't you?" She asked him. "You aren't causing Aunt Charlie too much stress are you? She doesn't need it."

"No mom. Everything is good."

"Well good. You be good for her and we will talk about what she grounded you for when dad and I get back."

Ethan sighed. "Yes ma'am."

"Alright. Be good and I love you baby."

"I love you too mom." He said. "Here's Aunt Charlie." He handed the phone back to her.

"Sorry, he spied on you." Jaycee said when Charlie got on.

"I blame Phil."

Jaycee laughed. "Oh I'm sure Ethan was a willing participant." She replied. "My little boy is very sneaky. I guess we know who he gets that after." She laughed.

"I'd say it's 50/50."

Jaycee laughed again. "I'm sorry they ruined your date. I really am."

"It's alright. Ted promised we would reschedule." She said as she walked into the kitchen and saw that Phil was already awake and making breakfast. "I'll have to call you back."

"Alright. Later." Jaycee said hanging up.

Phil looked up when Charlie walked in. "Who was on the phone?" He asked her.

"Jaycee and John checking on Ethan."

"You really were a little hard on him. I mean it wasn't totally his idea to spy on you. I did have something to do with it."

"Like Jaycee said, Ethan was a willing participant in it." She replied. "They are going to deal with him when they get back."

He nodded. "I made breakfast. Then I figured we could sit down and talk."

"Alright." She said sitting down at the table. He put the food on the table and sat down with her.

"I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry." He said causing her to look at him.

"What? You're apologizing?" She asked him. "For crashing my date I assume?"

"For being an ass in general. For...the date, what I said when I found out you were pregnant...all of it."

"Thank you." She replied. "An apology is nice."

"Do you forgive me?"

"Yeah. But that doesn't change anything."

"What?" He asked her. "Of course it changes things. I love you Charlie and I'm sorry." He looked at her. "You can't sit there and tell me that last night and the time before that didn't mean anything to you because I know you better than that. You still love me. If you didn't, we wouldn't have made love like we did. We can put this whole thing behind us and get back to the way things were."

"That's just it Phil. You want things back the way they were and I want us to get married. There is no middle ground. Of course I love you. I always will. You're the father of my child but we want different things out of life and if we don't want the same things, we can't be together."

"Charlie…" He said as Ethan came in. "Hey, Ethan, breakfast is ready."

"Thanks Uncle Phil." Ethan said as he sat down. Phil made him a plate and the three of them sat there eating in silence. "Are you guys fighting this morning? Because you're acting like mom and dad when they fight. But then dad apologizes and mom forgives him."

"We're not fighting. It's just a difference of opinion."

"Does this have to do with the spying thing? Because mom and dad aren't happy about that." Ethan replied. He looked at Charlie. "I'm sorry Aunt Charlie. It's not really Uncle Phil's fault. I was the one who suggested."

Charlie looked at Phil who shrugged. "The kid believes we belong together."

Charlie sighed and looked at Ethan. "E, not everyone is meant to be like your parents. Sometimes relationships don't work out when the people want different things."

"But you two are."

She sighed. "Ethan, you have to realize Phil and I want different things. If someone isn't willing to compromise, then there is no chance it can work."

"Then figure out a compromise."

She looked at Phil and then Ethan. "E, you're a little too young to understand this. So please let it be."

"You're wrong. Uncle Phil does want you and the baby. He set up a nursery at the apartment and everything. Don't you see Aunt Charlie? Everything he's done since you guys split up is because he loves you and he realizes he's an idiot and..."

"That's enough. If you don't want to have your birthday party canceled, you'll let this go and go get ready for school now."

"But.."

"No, buts Ethan John Cena. Go get ready for school." He sighed and headed upstairs. She looked over at Phil. "You set up a nursery?"

"I did." He replied. "It is my baby too."

She nodded. "It's good that the baby will have somewhere to sleep when it comes to visit."

"Charlie…" He replied before sighing.

"I need to go get ready to take Ethan to school." She said standing up and leaving the kitchen.

He sighed again and walked out of the house feeling for the first time like it was really over. And he didn't know what to do to fix it.
