Chapter 21

Sometime Later

The Silver Lining Hotel

"Can i order you something Cookie.?" Ted Davis asked. Passing her a menu.

"Not right now. I really want to talk." Brooke said. Placing down the menu on the coffee table in front of her.

"What about.?" Ted asked.

"I'm just trying to fully understand what went wrong between you and mom. Neither of you were innocent during the relationship. But daddy honestly cheating with some random woman and having a child. Even mom has her limits. I always thought deep down that the two of you loved each other and would be together forever. Maybe i was just being naive." Brooke said.

The hard expression on Ted's face softened.

"That was the plan but things between you're mother and i just got very complicated. And by the end ending the marriage was the only thing left to do." Ted said.

"I would feel alot better about this if i had all the details but i doubt i will ever get it. So i might as well drop it and address the real reason behind my visit. Mom said that you and this woman have a son. Which means i have a brother."

"Do you have the information needed to contact him.?" Brooke asked.

Ted took a deep breath. Reached over and handed his daughter a piece of paper.

"Here is the address to where he lives with his mother and his cellphone number." Ted said.

Brooke put the piece of paper in her purse.

"Have you gone to see him or spoken to him recently.?" Brooke questioned.

"Honestly no. The last time i saw him was ten years ago. He's 15." Ted revealed.

Brooke's eyes went wide. An expression of shock went across her face. "The last time you saw him he was 5 years old! Dad you can't be serious!" But you've made time to see his mother. Alot more then that over the years i'm sure! I cannot stand the sight of you right now. I'm going home!" She exclaimed. Clutching her purse tightly as she left her father's hotel suite.

Back in Tree Hill

Days Later

Brooke examined herself in the mirror. She was wearing a dark blue dress. Black heels. Red lipstick on her lips.

She grabbed her clutch purse and walked out of her bedroom. Minutes later leaving her home.

The Concord

With reservation made days in advance. Lucas awaited the sight of Brooke. In the meantime he was checking in with Aurora by text. She was home alone and he worried even though there was a security system in place. Aurora had undergone physical therapy and self defense classes once she was able too.

Her being left alone was happening alot more often now at her request wanting to assert her growth and independence.

When he heard footsteps coming towards the table. Lucas put the phone back into his pocket.

Lucas smiled up at her.

Brooke smiled back at him.

"There he is. The most handsome man in this entire restaurant." She said. Taking a seat across from him.

"I ordered for us we don't drink. But why not enjoy ourselves tonight." Lucas said.

Brooke took a long sip of her wine and looked back at him.

"Some quality time with you. Is just what i need. I'm still reeling from that conversation with my father. I just don't understand how you could go from loving someone to becoming strangers. Cheating. It just makes me question everything. What's the point to marriage or loving someone. Sharing a life together." Brooke confessed.

Lucas put back the ring box in his pocket and took a long sip of his wine.
