CHAPTER 17: So Don't Complain About Your Useless Employment
(Yes, we know, we missed posting last week. Well, life gets in the way sometimes. Here is what should have been posted last week. Enjoy. ~Author-san)
"Merlin!"
"Yes, Gaiuss?"
"I need you to go and get some things for me."
"What do you need?"
"I'm almost out of sage and chamomile, and Lady Morgana needs some more foundation. You know the shade."
"Alright, I'll be back soon."
The young man then proceeded to the market, knowing that they would have some of what he's looking for. After a quick stop, he had some chamomile and sage. Now all he needed was the foundation for Lady Morgana.
He walked into the only store that held this, Dollar General. The store was seen as a strange sight when it first appeared over the kingdom. King Uther was immediately wary of its existence and tried to shut it down. That didn't work.
The employee that had been killed was quickly replaced by another. No matter what the king did, it stayed where it was. It was not a structure any had seen before, the materials used to build it were very sophisticated. Soon, the king gave up, there was no harm, and how else would he get his Twinkies?
Merlin soon entered the store and briskly walked to the makeup section. Looking, he quickly found what he needed and went to the register. He had been to a Dollar General before, the novelty had worn off. The, obviously new, cashier rang up the item and gave the total, she then looked up.
"You, you're Emrys! It's an honor, sir!"
Merlin jumped and looked around, "I'm sorry?"
"Oh! You probably don't want people to know that, sorry. But may I just say, I'm a huge fan! Your work with- ya know, the thing is amazing! And your partnership with Godric, Helga, Rowena, and Salazar? Absolutely amazing! You've helped a lot of kids!"
(Can you tell the Authors have been on a Harry Potter binge?)
"You mean there are more prophecies about me?" Merlin said quietly, he didn't know who could be listening.
"What? Oh, I should not have said that. I'm sorry, just, ah, try to forget I said anything! Your total is $4.38!"
The Magic ManTM blinked, and then handed her the money, after getting the change, he quickly left. Should he tell Gaiuss about the strange encounter? Then again, everything else seemed to be completely normal.
Probably shouldn't.
(Remember what Author-sama said in the last chapter? It was a lie, this takes place in the same universe.)
