Link was scared out of his mind as he walked to Zelda's office after he finished his own work for the day. The ring was in his pouch and it felt heavy with each step he took.

This was the day he would finally ask her to marry him and he hoped everything would go well. Epona was ready and everything to head to the field, and he had everything he wanted to say memorized.

This would be the biggest day of his life.

Well, the biggest day of his entire life until their wedding day if she said yes to him.

Standing outside of her office, Link swallowed heavily as he knocked on the door before opening it as he saw Zelda sitting behind her desk before glancing up at him with a small smile.

He also noted how she was alone which made it easier for him.

Link gave her a smile as he closed the door behind him, his stomach in knots as he realized this was happening. "I want to take you out," he said with the hope she didn't realize he was planning.

"Oh?" Zelda hummed. "Where would you be taking me?"

"The field of Silent Princesses."

"The field?" Zelda repeated, standing up to put the paperwork away in a folder in the cabinet along with the other finished work.

Link nodded, holding out his hand for her to take.

Epona was waiting outside for them, ready with her saddle, and he knew she could get impatient when he took too long. That had been proven when they were little; Link always found it cute but he wanted to make sure they were on time.

The guards were counting on him to finally put the nail in the coffin for their relationship. The nobles wouldn't be able to demand a wedding for them and they would get married in Ordon.

He was ready to ask Uli and the others if they could hold a wedding for them.

This wedding had to be perfect for Zelda, and this way, she would have all the say in the world.

"Alright," Zelda said, caving in.

Link's smile got even wider. "Let's go. Epona's waiting for us and she can get inpatient, believe me."

Zelda giggled quietly as he pulled her in closer as they walked outside and down the hall, passing a few guards who smiled knowingly at them, and nodded to Link, silently wishing him luck.

He took a deep breath as they finally reached Epona. She glanced their way before trotting over. Link chuckled as he patted her side, helping Zelda up like usual before getting on himself.

He never felt more nervous in his entire life. This was a moment he never thought would have happened. Link had never thought he would find someone who made him feel like Zelda did. But here he was, about to propose to a girl who made him feel like he owned the world.

"You seem stiff," Zelda commented after a while. "What's wrong, Link?"

"Nothing," Link replied.

"Are you sure?" he could tell she was concerned for him, but he couldn't have her finding out what he was planning.

He nodded, trying to relax. "Yeah, I'm sure, darlin'."

"If you say so."

Inside his mind, he was breathing a sigh of relief.

Maybe this would go well.

Upon arriving at the field, Link was full of nerves as he helped Zelda down. He tapped Epona on her side and she trotted away to happily do her own thing while Link and Zelda spent time together.

Link watched as Zelda walked towards the tree and immediately the ring in his pocket felt extremely heavy unlike the other times it felt heavy. This was a whole new thing. He never felt like this before, and he was hoping this would go well enough that by the end of this, he would be engaged to Zelda.

Just a little longer and he'd ask.

He needed to make sure it was special enough.

Link would say what was in his heart and hoped to the trio of the Goddesses that everything would go well. He watched as Zelda sat down underneath their tree and quickly sat down next to her.

"It's kinda hot today, huh?"

"Indeed," Zelda replied, resting her head on his shoulder.

He couldn't help but smile widely at the action, resting his own head on her head. "At least we have the tree," he laughed. "That's a plus."

"You're acting weird, Link," Zelda suddenly said, removing her head from his shoulder to look at him. He paled slightly. "What's wrong?"

"N-Nothing!" Link yelped, holding up his hands. "Nothing is wrong."

This is going down the drain… I'm going to fail at this! Hero of Time forgive for my mess up! I might have to rethink this…

"Link."

There was a stern expression that made his stomach do flips as he tried thinking of something else to say that would change the topic from his behavior. It also made him jump which made him face her.

No use hiding it now, he thought. Zelda would be able to read him like a book and she would know straight away he was hiding something like always.

"I'm fine," he stressed. "I just have a lot on my mind."

A sigh escaped her lips.

"Is this about the nobles' demands?" Zelda asked through a sigh. "I'm sorry about that but I made sure they understood we're not going to do anything they want."

"No," Link shook his head. "It's not that."

Zelda was taken aback. "Then… what is it?"

Link swallowed heavily as he slowly reached for the ring, making sure Zelda couldn't see him doing so. He grasped it tightly in his hands and slowly removed it from his pouch; this was it. He was finally going to ask her to marry him.

Everything would be fine.

He was sure of it.

"I was doing a lot of thinking lately," Link confessed, gazing to the side for a split second before glancing back at Zelda. "— about us, and whatnot. The usual thing people would start thinking about when it came to relationships at a certain point."

Zelda nodded, not wanting to interrupt him.

"And I, um," he trailed off, unsure what to say as he forgot about everything he decided upon to tell her. He would have to go with anything at this point in time. "I know what I want to do; about us. At one point or another, we're both going to feel like we should quit. I understand, I really do; but I hope it doesn't come to that."

He noticed a blush starting to appear on her face as she suddenly got the idea of what he was doing. He sucked in a sharp breath as he continued on.

"Look," he swallowed heavily. "I love you, and I know you love me. But the thing is; I don't wanna share you with anyone else. I don't want to see other guys trying to get with you because they think you could do better and I know for a damn fact I'm not suited for royalty."

At that, she spoke, "Link—"

He shook his head. "No, listen," he said. "I'm not done."

She nodded wordlessly, trying to figure out his real plan and to see if she was right.

"So, the thing is… I don't care if I'm not suited for royalty," he admitted, taking an even deeper breath as he neared the end of his speech, hoping and praying this would end well. "Because as long as I'm with you, I don't need anything else. I want you to be mine officially."

Moving his hand out, he opened his palm up to show the ring he had crafted, hoping it would make her happy.

"So… will you marry me?"

There was a moment of silence passing, and he swallowed heavily. Was this a no? His stomach began to sink until he realized she was silently crying as tears were falling down her cheeks.

Link swallowed softly as he placed his hand on her cheek, wiping away some of the tears. "Darlin'?" he asked. "Are you okay?"

"Idiot," Zelda sniffed. "Pure idiot."

"...Huh?"

Zelda wiped her eyes. "You're an idiot," she repeated. "Of course I'll marry you, you idiot."

Link beamed. "Yeah, I'm an idiot," he agreed, kissing her softly. "But I'm your idiot and nothing is going to change that."

Zelda kissed back, smiling softly as he slipped the ring on her ring finger. She couldn't wait to officially be his' and he would officially be hers.

Rusl was happily doing his regular duties when he noticed the postman coming up to him. He winced at the outfit but didn't complain about it as he was handed a letter; he nodded his thanks, giving a tip before moving to sit down on a stump to read it.

A wide grin broke over his face as he saw it was from Link. He chuckled proudly as he slapped his knee. There would be an eventful day in Ordon soon enough, but he was slightly confused on why it couldn't be in Hyrule Castle like normal Royal Weddings were.

Rusl,

Zelda said yes! We're getting married. Beforehand, we agreed on an Ordon wedding. She understands I don't want to have a big fancy royal wedding, and she agrees with me. We have no interest in making a big fuss about it.

We both know sooner or later the nobles will demand one, but we'll come across that bridge when we come across it. For now, we're settling on a small Ordon wedding.

Do you think you could tell Mayor Bo and the others for me? I want to make sure everything is in order. She deserves the best, after all! Just send me a letter in reply and we'll arrange a date.

-Link

Rusl chuckled silently as he tucked the letter into his pocket, standing up to head back home to tell everyone the good news. They would be overjoyed to know Link was finally getting hitched and to the Princess no less.

Drustan had to be damn proud of his son for scoring a princess.
