Elena's POV

Stefan had found Dean and I a couple of hours later, showing up in a tow truck after Dean protested about leaving his precious car. Now the three of us, myself stuck in the middle, in an awkward silence that I was dying to escape. Dean was glued to his door, making as much possible space to stay away from me after I revealed my past and nature. I ignored the tight grip on his gun as I turned to engage with Stefan.

"So, the scent that I smelled earlier was definitely vampire, but it was soo distinct that I knew I had to come across it personally. I just can't place it." I said. My tongue licked at my aching gums, trying to hold off to eat, so that I wouldn't freak Dean out even more.

"If I had to guess, my money would be on Esther. And if Esther is involved, then you know who's not far behind." Stefan spoke, not taking his eyes off the road.

I sighed heavily, throwing my head back. "I'll make a call and see if Bonnie can do a tracking spell on Finn. I'm sure the Mikaelsons have some of his belongings to achieve a tracking spell." I responded.

Stefan shook his head. "Probably not. He has Esther protecting him, and even if Bonnie can do tracking spells that would take however long to break her protective spell." Stefan countered.

"Even with Freya? Plus, Kol is an experienced witch from before and Klaus has all of Esther's grimoires." I countered.

"Witches? My day is just getting freakin better." Dean scoffed. I rolled my eyes subtle, before turning my attention back to Stefan.

"Let's say that Esther and Finn are behind Sam being taken and we somehow locate her, how do we get Sam out with our lives intact?" Stefan questioned, reaching down to grab something. Next thing I know, Stefan slaps a blood bag in my lap, giving me a look. "Don't think I've noticed the squirming and the poking at your mouth. Drink." Stefan ordered.

"Is that a blood bag?" Dean frowned, looking between the bag in my lap and me.

I sighed. "Look Dean, I'm a vampire and that means I need blood for sustenance. This is the way I prefer it, but I'm not going to lie to you and say I haven't fed on humans. Sometimes, I have to in dire situations." Without another thought, I sunk my fangs in the plastic to get to the blood. I refrain from moaning from relief.

"So this Esther is the big bad that you think is behind taking Sam? What makes you so sure?" Dean asked, keeping his eyes away from me.

"Dahlia wouldn't have any reason too, but Esther plays a lot of games. Plus, your familial relations wouldn't be known to anyone, besides Esther who works for the enemy." Stefan explained, exiting off the highway for Beacon Hills.

"If you were to locate Sam, Castiel can swoop in and yank Sam out of there. No offense, I'm betting my money on the smiting angel than a freakin vampire." Dean argued.

"We can try, but I guarantee you that Esther always has a plan and something is telling me that she's has something to counter an angel." Stefan argued back, nose flared just a little in irritation.

"Everyone just calm down. We will be able to regroup with Kat and Giles in about ten minutes. Stefan, can I see your phone?" I asked. He reached in his pocket to slide out his phone and hand it over to me.

I scrolled through his contacts to 'Caroline' and called her. The phone rings a couple of times, before someone picked up. "Stefan, you got a lot of nerve not returning my phone calls! We haven't heard from Elena and her plane crash is all over CNN." Caroline ranted, not letting me get a word in.

"CARE! IT'S ME!" I shouted to interrupt her famous rants.

"Elena, where the hell you've been! We've been worried sick." Caroline immediately did a 360, but before I could explain myself, I heard a scuffle on the other end.

"Let it go, you fucking twat!" Caroline growled.

"You let it go, blonde strumpet!" There was no doubt in my mind that was Kol on the other side of the phone.

"Stop it, before you bre-" I looked down at my phone as I heard a click on the speaker.

I rolled my eyes as I dialed Klaus' number. "So the doppelganger defies death once again, how shocking." Klaus' drawled sarcastically.

"Oh you know me, I never like to disappoint. Where are those two peas in a pod?" I questioned as I watched as the dirt path became familiar.

"Kol and Caroline? I'm watching the love of my life choking non-life out of my dimwit brother. It's kind of sexy." Klaus commented. I rolled my eyes at that. Caroline could wear a paper bag from head to toe and Klaus will find that sexy. "Oh, Elijah wants to speak to you. Bye." Klaus said so fast, before leaving the phone.

"Elena, are you alright?" Elijah asked, hearing that worry tone in his voice

Stefan parked in front of the house. "You guys go ahead of me. I'll catch up with everything in a minute." Stefan nodded, before closing the door. Dean slammed the door, clearly letting me know he was unhappy.

"I'm fine, but there have been some new developments that I will have to tell you later. Short story, a new companion of mine's brother was kidnapped. I think Esther is behind it." I said.

"Meaning Finn is not far from his leash. Look, I can see if I or Freya can flush him out. This might be a chance that we can get him back in a coffin. Klaus, are you up to head out to California?" Elijah asked.

I heard a loud sigh. "Why can't you send your dimwit Kol to California?" Klaus groused from another part of the house.

"First, I don't trust you to have a peaceful parley with the witches, because everytime I turn around they are trying to kill you. Second, I know for a fact that you have a stash of white oak ash somewhere." Elijah countered.

I giggled when I heard Kol say, "What? Wolf got your tongue? We all know you just have a hard on for stabbing us."

"No, I just like stabbing you. It's something quite therapeutic to get you to shut up for a long time." Klaus responded, causing Elijah to sigh.

"As much as I love to hear the two of you squabble, all I want is to take a shower and sit in peace for more than five minutes. What time should I expect you, Klaus?" I asked as I slid from the car.

"Just send me the address. I'll be there by nightfall." Klaus said in annoyance.

Sam Winchester's POV

I groaned from stiffness from being tied to the damn chair overnight. I sighed as I popped the crick out of my neck, before looking around the room. I definitely had it worse and couldn't complain too much. Before I could get to look for a way to get out of here, my head looked at the door that slowly crept open until I saw a young man popped his head in the room. A pair brown eyes looked back at, nervousness in his being. He couldn't be no older than 15 or 16 and as he walked more into the room, carrying a tray of food with him, I noticed he couldn't be no taller than 5'6".

"I was getting a little worried that you weren't waking up, even though Finn told me he didn't do anything to you." He sat the food tray on the table that was in front of me. "I hope you like oatmeal." The boy asked. He pulled a knife out of his pocket, causing me to draw back from him.

The boy blushed red as he fidgeted with the knife. "I'm not trying to hurt you. Finn said I could untie you. He did that eye trick to make sure that you don't leave." The boy said, leaning down to cut the rope.

"Eye trick? What do you mean?" I questioned, feeling the ropes loosen around the wrist. Though every cell in my body wanted to get up and find a way out, I remained in my seat.

The boy got up from the floor, brushing off his knees. "I don't truly understand it myself, but I think it's mind control." The boy spoke, but I noticed the British accent that was softly entwined in his voice. He sat across from me, watching me curiously. "What is your name?" The boy asked as I moved the oatmeal around with a spoon.

"Sam. What's your name? I can't keep calling you 'the boy' in my head." I asked, looking at the boy.

He went quiet, frustration clouding his features. "I don't remember. I don't remember how I got here. I was in darkness for so long…" The boy trailed off, looking off in space.

"Are they hurting you? We can get out of here and get you some help." I offered, pushing the oatmeal to the side. I was concerned for the young man as he gave me a nervous smile.

"No, just sometimes I feel I should remember things." The boy explained.

"How about we find you a name until we find who you are? How about 'Gabe'?" I asked.

"Gabe? I like it." Gabe smiled brightly, but the moment was ruined when Finn walked into the room.

"Mr. Winchester, hopefully your temporary detainment hasn't been too unpleasant." Finn commented, stopping in front of Gabe. "Make yourself useful and acquire these items." He said to Gabe as he offered him a slip of paper.

Gabe slipped the paper from his fingers as he stood up from his seat. He looked at me, before making his exit. The door closed with a loud click.

"Mr. Winchester, it seems you and your brother have lived very colorful lives." Finn said as he pulled out a familiar journal. I jerked forward, but was unable to get up from my chair.

"What are you after?" I asked, tensing with every page being turned by him.

"Nothing you could possibly give me. You are just bait, Mr. Winchester. Once I'm done using you, I will hand you over to Lillith and she will do as she pleases." Finn said.

I huff in irritation. "Do you have any idea what she's planning to do? You carrying out whatever plans will be pointless if she's about to bring the end of the world. Are you okay with all this death happening and will going to happen?" I questioned, not believing in his lack of self preservation.

Finn paused in his ministration, eyes focused on the journal in his hands. He looked, a brief smirk crossed his face, before it was gone. "I could go through the trouble to explain my motives, but I fear you will lack understanding." Finn laid the journal on the table with delicate touch and slid it towards me.

"Or you could fear that you truly don't understand. It is harder to admit the truth to oneself when they've been doing wrong for soo long." I said, reflecting on my use of demon's blood and my secret meetings with Ruby. Shame bloomed in my chest as I looked at my father's journal.

Elijah's POV

My siblings and I, except for Klaus who was on the phone listening in, stood around the table as Freya tracked Finn. We all stood in silence for several reasons. Finn's blood tie was stationary, meaning we got a definite location on him.

"We definitely know this is a trap and we know what Finn wants." Kol spoke, leaning against the table.

"Elena, but what is this?" Rebekah questioned as she pointed at the blood tie next to Finn's. "You don't think he found one of the babies?" Rebekah questioned, looking at all of us.

Freya shook her head. "All the swirling blood ties are accounted for. These clusters of four that are moving all over the map represent Mikael and the babies. This one moving is Klaus. The five clusters in New Orleans are us. The last swirling blood ties are Esther and Dahlia." Freya explained.

"So everyone is accounted for on the map? So, who is the other blood tie?" Klaus' questioned over the speaker.

The four of us looked among us, knowing it couldn't be anything good. "Klaus, do be careful." I said.

Elena's POV

I sighed as I got off the phone with Elijah. "Great! Another psychotic Mikaelson walking around that we don't know about." Katherine groaned, falling back on the couch. "And you sure that Klaus won't kill me?" Katherine glared at me.

I almost wished I went to pick up Klaus instead of sending Stefan as I rolled my eyes with exasperation, seeing I've been having the conversation for the last five hours. "Klaus won't, but I might if you don't stop asking me that question." I snapped in irritation.

"Now that we know where Sam, that's all I need to know." Dean said as he put away his gun. He got up, grabbing his worn leather jacket. I stepped in his way to keep him from leaving. "Look, I don't have time to play go around with you. Move." Dean stared down at me with a glare.

I stood solid with a glare of my own. "Correction: we know where Finn is. There is no guarantee that Sam is being held up with him. We have a start of a solid plan, Dean and we don't need any off the wall improvisation. Finn is different from your normal, mindless villain. He's cold, calculative." I argued, side stepping again when he tried to get around. It annoyed me that his impulsive behavior reminded me of Damon and that is the last thing I needed.

"I'm going to call Castiel and if he can get me in and out with Sam, that is what I have to do, damn everything else to hell." Dean argued.

Giles, who is a very pleasant energy to have around, sighed. "Can the two of you take your squabbling somewhere else? I am trying to concentrate." He rubbed at his glasses with his shirt, before fixing them back on his face.

Katherine popped her gum obnoxiously, ruffling Giles' feathers. Our squabbling was interrupted as we heard keys jingled. Katherine tensed as she got up to face the door. The door swung open and Klaus came waltzing in with a smirk plastered on his face. "Your knight in shining armor has arrived."
