The sound of a knock startles Serena. She froze mid step in her room. She turned to her window, and listened again. Another knock. She sighed and did a long blink. There is only one person here that could get up to her balcony. Her heart was starting to race. Her palms sweaty.

He knocked again.

She wondered if he could see her shadow through the curtains. She was standing very still. Barely breathing. She watched for his shadow but she couldn't see it. She took one baby step forward. Then baby step back. Tears started to build up in her eyes.

He knocked again. This time a little harder.

She turned around to listen if anyone was coming towards her room. She waited a minute. No sound came from the hallway. She finally took a big step towards the window. Just enough to where was leaning against her bed.

She listened for another knock. Nothing. Her heart fell to her stomach. 'Maybe he left.'

Outside the masked hero, stood there with his head hanging down. One hand still balled into a fist He debated if he should continue to wait. He wanted so bad to just believe she was downstairs helping her mom and she just forgot to turn the light off. He kept pushing back the thought that she could just be on the other side waiting for him to leave.

He turned his back to the house. Not so much to leave, but process everything in his mind. He removed his mask and gloves. He was so nervous the sweat was building up. With the three items in his hands, he crossed his arms and looked up to the sky. There was some overcast, so the stars were not as visible. If only he could see a shooting star and make a wish. He never believed in shooting stars and all that. That was more of Serena's beliefs, but he would take anything right now.

Then a flash of light appeared behind him. He turned around, to see his love kneeling there on her bed, one hand still on the curtain. She used her other hand to open the window.

"What are you doing here? And your face?" Serena whispered. Like Andrew had predicted she was more concerned with Darien's face than anything else.

"I am fine. I needed to check on you. I didn't mean to drop you and you left so quickly. I needed to know that you are okay."

"I am fine it is just a scratch." She lightly brushed over her abrasion. "Mom was a little concerned, but I just used my clumsiness as an excuse." She shrugged and scooted closer to the window.

Darien stepped forward as Serena reached up to his face. She brushed her thumb across his forehead. Her warm hands across his cold face shot a sense of comfort through out his body. It always amazed him how her little touch would always make everything seem like it will be okay.

"Does it hurt?" She cupped his face with one hand lightly touched his nose with her thumb.

"It's fine. I will heal eventually."

She removed her hand and nodded. "Was there any other reason you came? I am fine. Just a bump."

"You left so quickly." Darien tried to explain.

"There was just too much going on? Why were you so close to my face?"

Darien's face started to feel a little warm. Serena could see his cheeks turning just a tad pink. His hands started to fidget.

"I can't explain it."

"What else is new. Darien, cannot express his feelings." Serena scoffed and was about to let go of the curtain.

"No, I don't mean like that." Darien said abruptly. "If you could please just listen." His voice cracked.

She pushed the curtain further so it would stay in its place, then crossed her arms.

"I was saying I just can't explain it but while I was watching you sleep, partly because I was monitoring you. Making sure that you were okay. But also because I love watching you sleep."

"You were watching me sleep?" Serena asked a little thrown off, but a tad flattered.

"I used to always watch you sleep." He wanted to caress her face so bad. "You always look so beautiful. Sometimes you would randomly smile and I would wonder what you were dreaming about." He removed his hat and scratched his head. "I would always hope it was about me." He just looked at her face and her scrap. "But you looked so...wow... is the only way I can describe it. And I had this urge to kiss you. So..." His nerves were starting to get the best of him. "And i guess you woke up."

Serena replayed that moment in her head for the millionth time. She shook her head.

"I was really hoping to speak with you when you woke up, but shit hit the fan and you left, so here I am." He took one step towards her only to be stopped by the base of the window.

She didn't move.

"I am asking you to hear me out." He reached down to grab both her hands He tightened the grip so she could not pull away. "I am sorry I made you feel like you were on the back burner. In my head I felt like I was doing what was needed for us. For our future family. I want a family with you just as bad as you do, if not more. Remember I am the one who didn't grow up with a family. I always pictured myself with my wife and at least three kids. You being my wife."

"Darien I can't be your wife, if we never get married. And we have been engaged for how long and we have not made any plans, no date nothing."

"Please forgive me on that one too, I just thought I was supposed to just show up dressed... that's what all my guys friends said." He tried to explain

Serena tilted her head to the left. "Really..."

"I am sorry." He started to rub her hands that were in his. "I will apologize for it all."

"Darien I don't want you to just apologize, to apologize, especially if you really don't think you did anything wrong."

"I know I did something wrong because you left. That's it and that's all that matters. My whole life, packed her things and walked out the door. So I will take all the blame, because if I would have done everything right, you wouldn't have left. I just want you, so I will even apologize for sky having so much overcast if I have too."

Serena rolled her eyes,"Actions Darien. You had no idea I left. You know how much that hurts?"

"Serena. I know and there will never be an excuse for that. I will apologize until out next lifetime if I have too."

Her eyes glistened from built up tears of frustration. "We were supposed to have a bond. Soulmates. How did you not know I was so unhappy? So lonely?"

"Maybe that is where we messed up." Darien shrugged. "We relied on this bond that we forgot to do one of the most important thing, us actually talking to each other." He released her hands. She crossed her arms, only for him to encircle his arms around her, as he leaned through the window. "I never intended to make you feel unwanted. I want you more than anything, all of you." He whispered into her ear. "I want to fix this." His voice pleaded. "Please give me the chance to fix it, like a real chance."

"How do I know you won't just go back to your old ways. Old habits are hard to break."

"Because I would never risk losing you again." He wrapped his arms around her tighter. She wasn't hugging him back but he didn't care. He missed holding her. "But before I can even try to fix this all. I need you to lay it all out for me. I need to know everything that you have held in."

"Darien..." She pushed herself off of him and got off the bed. Partly because being in the kneeling position made her legs fall asleep.

"Serena, I know what my main faults are, but I want to know everything else. Everything that made you unhappy, down to that green jacket. I know there will be a few things I can't change. But please let me start to fix this the right way. Just moving forward won't do us any good. And I know you want to be with me just as much as I want to be with you, I can still see it in your eyes and I know because you have had many chances to push me away and close the door, but you are still here, listening to me."

She turned around. Closed her eyes. Took a breath. Of course she wanted him to come in. This is what she wanted, him attempting to work it out with her. But the anger and hurt she had felt, she didn't want him to think it was going to be that easy. Not like she made it so easy for him. He does have a bruised face. 'His beautiful face.' Her mind was in overdrive, thinking of all the things that could go wrong, thinking about all the things he put her through, she wanted to be able to hold that grudge. Part of her wanted him on the ground on his knees begging, but part of her believed it was too much. What would the girls think, that she went away to get away from him only to let him in her room? Internally she was so torn on what to do. She started to rub her forehead. She did want to be with him. She really couldn't see herself with anyone but him. That is why she went with IVF to produce Rini. She would never love someone as much as she loved Darien, even if he was a terrible boyfriend. But was she just feeling that way because that is what 'fate' told her. Why was this so hard for her to decide? What happened to just following her heart?

She was so wrapped in her own head that she didn't even realize Darien came into her room. Detransformed. And stood right behind her. He observed her as she stood there with her hands balled up into little fists. Whatever was going on was obviously in her head and he could only think of one way to get her out of it. He stepped around her. Put one hand to each side and she looked up to him, but before she could say a word, he pressed his lips against hers.

The moment caught her by surprise and again her mind went off. Should she push him off? But she loved this, she started to kiss him back. She had wanted him to kiss her like this the night they went flying, and now he finally did. But she is still mad. She can't have him thinking this will fix it all. But his kiss still felt so right.

He moved his hands to her waist. He pulled her in as close as she could be. He slowly pulled away to get some air, when she wrapped her arms around his neck.

He rested his head on hers, and there they stood. She wanted to kiss him again more than anything. She left one arm around his neck and placed the other hand over his heart. Her heart was beating just as fast as his.

Before another one could make a move or say a word, a knock on her door caused her jump and push him to the side. She wiped her mouth and fixed her clothes. She wasn't really sure why she did all that. She wasn't planning on opening the door.

"What is it?" She called.

"Serena honey, just checking you're okay. You were kind of quiet at dinner." Her mom could be heard on the other side. "Is your head bothering you?"

"I'm fine mom...just getting some rest..." She looked at Darien who stood still against the wall.

"Okay bunny. I love you! Get some rest."

"I love you too mom!"

She listened for her mom to close the door to her room, and she exhaled.

"That was a close one." Darien said approaching her slowly.

Serena half smiled. "I know."

He put one arm on her waist. She thought about pushing it off, considering they almost go caught. But again the comfort she felt.

"We still have a lot to talk about." He whispered as he moved his face closer to hers.

She just nodded.

"But before we do, just one more." And with that he smashed his lips against her one more time.
