2.5 weeks later
Eddie climbed the steps to her precinct out of breath by the time she reached the top, the sun was beating and it was hotter then fire out.
"Geez little girl you are giving mommy a run for her money." She said looking down at her 6 week old awake in the car seat. She walked through the doors and everyone was so happy and excited to see her, immediately drawing attention to Alaina bringing a breath of fresh air to the whole precinct.
"She's so beautiful!" The officer at the front desk said.
"Thank you!" Eddie said smiling, another asked what her name was again.
"Alaina, we call her Lainey or Laina for short though." Eddie said and loved how much everyone was interested in her. A couple officers entered the building each holding onto perps in handcuffs. Eddie moved along and headed for Jamie's office, not wanting her daughter anywhere near them.
"Knock knock." She said and stood at Jamie's door only to see him and Joe sitting down talking.
"Oh hey, sorry am I interrupting..?" She said feeling awkward.
"Hey no, what are you doing down here?" Jamie got up and kissed her quick.
"I wanted to bring her in to show to everyone...what are you doing over here?" Eddie asked Joe.
"Ha I know I am way out of my norm. But uh yeah, Jamie's got a perp who's alibi connects to a guy I've been trying to bust for weeks so we're working together on it." Joe explained.
"Aw that's fun! Damn I miss work..." Eddie said and then Alaina started making noises in the car seat she set beside her.
"2 more weeks, It'll go quick." Jamie said and looked at his baby.
"I know ugh." Eddie said and then her phone rang.
"I should take this." Eddie said and excused herself from the room.
When she came back she had a different look on her face.
"Everything good?" Jamie asked.
"That was Nikki, she can't watch Lainey tomorrow anymore, she has a mandatory meeting." Eddie said sighing.
"Aw well, we can call someone else, that's the beauty of having family close by." Jamie told her not worried.
"On a Thursday morning? I'm pretty sure everyone's working. It's fine I'll just have to take her with me..." she said not excited about the idea.
"Tomorrow morning? What time? I'm free." Joe said.
"Really!? Just from 9-11ish when Jamie gets home, I have a doctors appointment so not sure how long it will be." She said hoping Joe could work that.
"Oh Eddie I don't know-" Jamie was unsure about this idea. Joes never watched her.
"Yeah I can watch her, I work the evening." Joe said.
"Perfect! Thank you so much!" Eddie was relieved.
"Eddie I-" Jamie started to say again.
"Jamie he is the god father he'll be great! He's gotta learn anyway!" Eddie said.
"Okay okay you're right." Jamie said shutting up.
"Would you like to try and take care of a baby while the gynecologist is all up inside you!?" Eddie said defending herself.
"Ha- no. I said it was good. Okay?" Jamie said getting red because she said that in front of Joe.
"Well okay then... I'll see you tomorrow morning at 8:30?" Joe said with a chuckle and got up to leave the awkward conversation.
"Yes please thank you!" Eddie said and he left the room.
"I should go, she needs to eat soon." Eddie said picking up the car seat again.
"Eddie." Jamie said.
"What?" She asked.
"You know we should really start to think about what we're doing with her when you go back to work." Jamie said.
"Yeah...?" Eddie agreed.
"So I did some research on that young girl that goes to our church, she had an advertisement in the bulletin on Sunday? for nannying..?" Jamie started to say trying to jog her memory.
"Nicole? Okay and?" Eddie asked.
"She has no records, not even a speeding ticket. Her parents are missionaries and she spent 2 years doing that with them also. Shes 24, lives alone in Brooklyn heights. Has her master's degree in social work." Jamie rambled off looking at Eddie the whole time.
"What does she look like again?" Eddie asked.
"What do looks have anything to do with it?" Jamie asked confused.
"I need to put a face with all this Reagan." She explained. Jamie spun around on his chair and started typing away. Few seconds later pulling up a picture from her Facebook page, she was surrounded by a group of kids in some kind of foreign country on a mission trip.
"Awh! She's pretty, she looks like Julianne Hough when she was in that movie safe haven!" Eddie said hitting Jamie on the arm.
"Okay and that matters why?" Jamie asked.
"It doesn't I just needed to see her face. She looks sweet." Eddie said.
"Good. So I think we should meet her and see if it's an option." Jamie said, Lainey started fussing.
"Okay then call her, or I can call her." Eddie said switching focus to the baby.
"I can call and tell her to come over to our place when?" Jamie asked.
"Whenever Jamie, I gotta go she's hungry." Eddie said dropping the topic and heading for the hall.
"Okay well we can talk about it tonight, love you both." He said, Eddie gave him a kiss and left to go home.

Jamie got home at 4:45, Eddie was cooking dinner, singing to the music she had playing, and Laina was in the bouncy seat up on the table wide awake.
"Hey" Jamie said.
"Hey honey" Eddie said happily.
"What are you making? It smells good." He said and went to see Lainey before Eddie.
"Hello baby girl." He said and kissed her little hand with a smile.
"It's chicken Alfredo, HOMEMADE sauce." She emphasized and he came over to see.
"Wow...what's the occasion?" Jamie asked curiously.
"Huh...there needs to be an occasion for me to make you a nice dinner?" Eddie was offended.
"No...but me and you both know cooking a nice dinner for each other randomly is a gesture we are both guilty of using in the past to get a little something afterward...?" Jamie smiled and told her, raising his eyebrows.
"Jameson Reagan..." Eddie smiled and shook her head at him.
"What?" He asked and kissed her neck.
"Jamie...you know we have to wait until tomorrow to see if we can." Eddie said shying away from the kisses he was leaving her.
"I know. But man it's been forever." He said, hoping at this doctors appointment they'd get the go ahead to have sex again.
"You're telling me." Eddie said thinking about how it has been 6 weeks since she's not only not gotten anything from Jamie but she hasn't given him anything either. It was only fair to cut him off too, and besides they had sex so much when she was pregnant it made up for it.

Dinner was done and they sat down to eat together leaving Lainey in her bouncy seat on the table, she was happy and they weren't going to change that.
"So I called Nicole, hows tomorrow at noon, here." Jamie asked.
"Tomorrow already!? Wow." Eddie said surprised.
"Yeah she seemed excited to meet us. So I said we'd get a pizza and get to know each other, she could meet Laina, see how she is and go from there." Jamie said.
"Okay well that's great, I should be home by then" Eddie said.
"Yeah whatever, She said she didn't have anything going on." Jamie said.
"Sweet." Eddie replied and they finished eating. She was a little nervous to meet this girl. Jamie apparently told her we go to the same church, she's aware of the relationship to the commissioner, and that them being cops can't always have a steady schedule but she was still very interested in the job.

Do you think Joe can manage a newborn for a few hours tomorrow or should Jamie be a little nervous? AND, How do we think Eddie will be handing her baby over to Nicole, someone who's basically a complete stranger?
