Dangerous Liaisons

Chapter 21th

Loreile had gotten into the vehicle with some trouble with her shoulder. She was still suffering from the medication that was given to her in the operating room. Doctor Taft helped her to move inside into the back seat. Catherine would be driving with the map and the directions to take them to the Evergreen safehouse in Alexandra, Virginia.

"Are you fine back there Loreile?" Doctor Taft asked with concern for his patient.

"I am fine Doctor. I just need to get to the safehouse to feel better, even though I am worried about Special Agent Gibbs having to be a sitting duck in his room at the hospital." She stated with feeling for her new found friend.

"Don't worry everything will be alright once the agencies are able to find those hitmen along with the crooked F.B.I. agents." Taft said with anger in his tone of voice and demeanor getting into the front seat. "Is everyone ready to go now?"

"Yes." In unison by Catherine and Loreile.

Evergreen safehouse Forty five minutes later

Catherine pulled up to the main gate of the safehouse showing the paperwork to the older security officer. She opened the window to hand them to him to check the orders as precaution.

After placing a quick call to his boss and new manager of the safehouse. He hangs up the phone to head back outside to the vehicle. "Ok, you're cleared to enter to sector D. Lt. Baskins will be able to direct you to the main quarters."

"Sergeant has Director Leon Vance and Phineas arrive to the safehouse?" Lt. Loreile Baskins asked from the backseat of the vehicle.

"They have Lt. Baskins, they are waiting for you to arrive to get settled and be briefed by the director." The older officer said to her heading back to his post inside the security office letting up the gate to have them move forward.

Ten minutes later with Catherine being directed to the main building housing quarters, kitchen and exercise rooms. She parked the vehicle outside the main entrance with the lighting up full to see getting around.

Taft once again helped Loreile to move out of the back seat. She was able to gather herself with her sweatpants that she was wearing instead of the hospital gown. "This way everyone. We will need to sign in as part of the security protocol for the safehouse." She said with taking the clipboard to sign her name with some trouble involving her shoulder. Otherwise she was able to get through it.

Catherine and Cyril signed as well before moving through the double doors. A few moments later they see Director Vance and Phineas having something to eat and drink in the small mess hall. Phineas looked up from his hamburger to run over to Loreile. "Loreile, I am so glad to see you. How is Jethro Gibbs?" He asked having to be worried about his friend.

"He's fine Phineas, he will be here tomorrow in the morning coming from the hospital. Let's just hope it's going to stay that way." Doctor Taft said breaking into the conversation.

Director Vance came over with a look on his face that had Loreile wondering what was going on. "Sir, I am sorry about having you to be staying here as with Phineas." She exclaimed needing to sit down with feeling slightly dizzy.

"It's ok, I understand completely. And besides I will be with my people at NCIS for any important decisions that needs to made." Vance said with a even tone demeanor. "By the way does Special Agent Fornell has all of his people in place?"

"From what he told me earlier in the hospital he does Director Vance." Doctor Taft replied with checking Loreile for any further issues with her vitals. "We need to get Loreile to her quarters to rest."

"I can go by myself Doctor, I will be fine once I hit the bed to sleep." She smiled slightly as she slowly headed for her quarters while Catherine and Doctor Taft continued on with their conversation with Vance and even Phineas.

Hospital Late night

Jerome and his associate aka hitman ordered to take out Special Agent Gibbs. They were inside a small closet in the basement of the hospital checking out floor plans of the ICU. They were able to find the air ducts that will lead to certain ICU rooms on the fourth floor.

"Be very careful moving through those ducts, we don't need anyone figuring out just what is going on Alexi. Understand the order?"

In broken Russian having been a hitman for almost ten years for the KGB old guard. "I understand extremely well Jerome. I have a job that needs to be done along with getting paid further by Brighton."

Jerome opened up the metal grate for Alexi to climb up into it and began his search of Agent Gibbs. He had made sure having checked his weapon and smoke bomb in case he needs to use it to take out the security officers watching his room.

Watching Alexi move forward into the duct, as for himself, he had to leave the hospital to go into hiding from being arrested. However the F.B.I. will be watching all of the exits to try and to arrest Jerome or anyone else involved with the plot.

Meanwhile in ICU...

Jethro Gibbs was trying to sleep knowing what might can happened. His friend Fornell had given him a Sig to hide under his pillow in case someone tries to come after him this evening. His mind was racing with too many visions of the past starting with Pedro Hernandez, Gabriel Hicks, Luke Wilson and others.

Turning on his side with his good shoulder. He saw only one of the security officers watching his room. No doubt the other man was on some time of a break. It was really quiet for one A.M. in the morning, however all of a sudden he started to hear some type of noise. He wasn't all sure for where it was coming from, so he try to relax as much as possible...
