Love on Ice
Chapter 26
Since her car wasn't here yet and Rick had left his behind for Maria to use to get groceries, it meant Kate was in the airport just outside of the TSA line that she wasn't supposed to cross. She was bouncing on her feet waiting for a glimpse of Rick.
It had been what felt like forever since she had seen him and even longer since she'd made love to him. Yes, her life was changing because he had been traded, however, Rick and Alexis were still very important to her.
Finally she caught a glimpse of him! She began waving her hands high over her head so he could spot her. Seeing him smile wide told her she had been spotted. She stood on that stupid white line on the floor and waited.
The second he was close enough she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him for all she was worth.
Rick nuzzled her neck. "Damn but you feel good," he murmured.
That made her grin. "You feel better." Kate didn't want to let go of him and knowing that he didn't have a bag save for his carry-on meant they could head straight for his car.
"You tied." Kate slapped his arm. She had started following what the Vancouver Canucks were doing now.
"Beats losing. Besides, we're still in first place." The Canucks were doing better than the Islanders were doing.
"Yes, you are." Kate was happy for that.
"How's Alexis?" Rick asked Kate since his little girl really was his first priority.
"I don't think she likes living in a hotel room very much. Even if she does have her own bedroom." She didn't want to know what a two bedroom hotel room was costing him.
"Before I forget, we drove out to try and get a look at the house. It's well hidden behind trees and bushes. Barely saw the garage doors."
"It is that at least from the front. We get keys in a few days they keep telling me. So long as we have keys when the truck shows up we'll be fine." Rick kept walking toward the parking garage with his arm around her. It felt really good to have her in even one arm.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Rick opened the door with Kate right behind him and instantly heard, "DADDY!" And a little orange haired girl came running his way.
Rick scooped her up and began kissing her. "Hi, pumpkin. How's my favorite little girl?"
"Great! …POTTY!" Alexis yelled at him.
Kate looked over at him and said, "I'll take her," and took Alexis out of his arms then made her way to the closest bathroom. While Alexis always yelled it, she was at least really good at announcing it.
"How are you, Maria?" Rick was still really happy that she had agreed to move with him.
"I'm doing well, Mr. Rick. Anxious to move into our new home." She felt useless in her hotel room. Save for a little cooking, since breakfast was free, she had nothing to do. Every two days they got new sheets, fresh towels, and the room was cleaned. They even put the pots, dishes, glasses, and such in the dishwasher and started it for them.
"You and me both, Maria. We should have keys in a few days and the truck should arrive a few days after that. So hopefully about one more week here. Then we'll all be busy." They had packed them and moved them, but they weren't unpacking them. That was going to be left for them to do.
"We're going to have to go shopping for furniture. The owners aren't leaving us much. No patio furniture or grill or anything else outside. Save for the bear. I had that written into the contract." Rick smiled since he just knew Alexis was going to love that colorful bear.
"We'll manage, Mr. Rick." Maria would work herself to the bone if necessary.
"Has everyone eaten?" Rick queried just as Alexis came rushing back and got back into her dad's arms.
"We've been waiting for you to arrive. Thought maybe a new restaurant that we haven't tried yet might be nice." Kate had overheard his question.
"Then let's wash up and get going." Rick put Alexis down after she'd run to him from the bathroom and went to a bathroom to wash.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
"Sushi?" Kate questioned him as he parked in the parking lot.
He looked like he was trying to hide something. "It's mostly finger food for you know who."
"I like sushi." Kate was willing especially if Alexis could be kept entertained for dinner. She had a bag that held books, coloring books, crayons and other things to keep Alexis happy.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Apparently Alexis was and wasn't a fan of sushi. Oh, she did eat but she picked apart what she was given and ate what she was willing to eat. More than once something got thrown. "Yucky!" she had announced. That had both Rick and Kate scolding her for that. She was four now and should know better.
They were just steps away from their hotel room. "POTTY!" Alexis informed everyone which had Kate running for the door to get it open while Rick carried her, walking a little faster to reach a bathroom. While her announcing was nice, it was her yelling it that needed to stop.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Maria had retired to her room and Alexis was happy after getting Kate to read to her and sleeping in her bedroom which was on the other end of their hotel room.
Rick was sitting on the bed naked and was watching Kate searching her suitcase. "Just what are you doing? Get over here." He was horny beyond belief and wasn't interested in what she was looking for.
Kate finally found at least one. She held it up and looked at him, grinning. "Those things won't work on this bed. This bed doesn't actually have legs." The bed was on a solid base leaving nothing to attach the handcuff Kate was holding up.
"SERIOUSLY!" Kate had gone without sex for long enough and one of them was getting handcuffed to the bed. She was actually hoping it was her. Rick knew just what to do to her body.
She dropped her handcuff and walked over to him, stark naked. Then she let him wrap his arms around her and press his face into her chest. That had her holding his head in place.
Then faster than she could think, she was face down on the bed with her feet on the floor. Rick had both of her hands pinned behind her back and suddenly his cock was planted firmly deep inside her.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
They were both asleep and finally in each other's arms after making love to each other.
Kate had gotten fucked, had her pussy eaten, as well as giving Rick's cock the attention it deserved. It would last each of them until morning. Since their bathroom was a tub/shower combination there was enough room to have some fun in the morning in.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Even though she had had sex last night her dream was filled with Rick making love to her. Right now his head was planted firmly between her legs. Opening her eyes she realized that it wasn't a dream.
His lips, tongue, fingers had her orgasming in no time.
Maria had come over to get Alexis and get her into her tub to get clean.
"I have three straight home games so you get to see me more." It also meant they could go back to making love at least once a day again.
"I noticed one of them is against the Islanders." Kate didn't like when that happened.
"I know and I'll still do all I can to beat them. There is one thing, though." Rick hated to break this to her. "This team doesn't have team tickets right behind the bench like the Islanders had."
"NO! Seriously?" Kate liked it when she was right behind the bench to watch a game.
He caressed her cheek. "I can do a search and get you a ticket like everyone else."
"I'll take it." Then Kate had an evil idea. "Can you make it the game with the Islanders? I can wear my Islander jersey and yell and scream every time the Canucks score. It will drive everyone around me crazy." Kate was smiling wide.
Rick laughed. "I just need my computer and send it to your phone." He was up and searching.
"Will this work for you?"
Kate looked over his shoulder. "Section 105 a few rows back behind the penalty box. It'll work, then I can throw my ice cubes from my drink at you if you get a penalty." Kate grinned mischievously.
"Ha, ha, very funny." However Rick wouldn't put it past her. Then he felt her kiss his head telling him that she was teasing him. "March 11th against the Islanders. You, my precious, are an evil woman."
Kate glanced up at him. "If I could get the handcuffs to work I'd show you just how evil I could be."
"Not even then unless the new bed that we still need to buy along with all the other furniture first will allow it." Rick reminded her.
"I like shopping but that's a lot of shopping." She was used to shopping for clothes, not furniture. All of her furniture had been used since everything in New York City had proven to be expensive.
"I get keys on the 12th and the truck is scheduled to arrive on the 19th. Both between home games. Anita Meyers from Interior Solutions will be out on the 20th to look the place over and help us make decisions."
Kate looked at him in surprise. "You hired an interior decorator?" He hadn't told her that.
"Unless you want to go searching furniture store after store after store until you're satisfied." Rick really doubted she wanted to do that. Hell, he didn't want to do that!
"No." Rick had her there. Then she realized that he was giving her a say in what to get for the house. Kate wrapped her arms around him from behind and kissed his head. It was yet another reason why she loved him.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Rick had keys and everyone was in his car. Maria had squeezed herself into his back seat for this. She was just as anxious to actually put eyes on what was soon going to be home.
"It's around the corner on Piccadilly South." Kate used her hand to show him to turn right.
"The address is Pilot House Road." Rick didn't get it and had stopped at the corner. Granted he had been here to buy it however the real estate agent had done the driving.
"It's just around the corner. I've been here before, you know." Kate knew where she was going. "Trust me; I drove this corner several times until I found it."
Rick did what she said and parked in front of the garage doors. Then everyone was out and headed for the front door. The realtor had driven him when he had first seen this place so he hadn't been paying that close attention.
"These keys work but we'll need to change all the locks in this house and arrange to change the security system if it has one. And install one if it doesn't." He hadn't even thought to look when he had been out here before buying it.
"Okay, spread out and try not to get lost." Rick picked a direction that would take him out onto the uppermost deck so he could see the back yard.
"Be careful with the stairs, pumpkin," Kate told her and followed Rick.
"I'll watch her." Maria knew what her job was. It was why she was here.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
"It's lovely!" Kate stopped next to Rick and looks out onto what was the backyard. "And empty." She hadn't seen anything from the front door to here.
"It gives Alexis a place to actually play. Maybe one of those play sets out there for her to play on." Rick saw this place as being a forever home. This time if he was traded he would just retire and test his after hockey plan for real.
"It'll be great!" Kate took his hand in hers and kept looking. "Show me the rest of it."
Kate soon found that this house had a lot of rooms and a lot of stairs. Far more than she liked. Not that she couldn't handle stairs. She was thinking of Alexis and could just see her tumbling down one of these. "God, I am a mommy."
"What was that?" Rick hadn't been paying attention to her. He was busy trying to remember what furniture had been there the last time.
"Nothing. We're going to need a lot of furniture. The only thing coming is kitchen stuff, your computer room, and the wine. Speaking of wine where is the wine room?" They had a lot of bottles that needed somewhere to go.
"Follow me." Rick had an idea but it was going to require some construction.
Kate followed him upstairs to a space on the other end of the house. This side was a log home while the rest of the house was pretty much an addition.
"This set of stairs is the only way up. I was thinking of making it the computer room but it might work as a wine room. We'll need to close off this space and install an A/C unit but it might work." Rick looked around.
Kate looked at him and she wasn't smiling. "I don't like it. If you stop playing hockey you're going to need this room more than we need wine. Can we add cabinets somewhere instead? Like a huge glass front refrigerator maybe?"
"Okay… Follow me." Rick went downstairs and they found Maria and Alexis looking over the kitchen. Rick and Kate walked through it. They both saw a large window on one wall that looked out onto a small patio filled with plants. In front of them were doors that went out onto an upper patio or deck.
Rick stopped in front of an empty space in the hallway. "What about here?" He spread his arms wide. "We just need to find one or more."
Kate walked into the space and looked it over. The old room was larger than this. "We may need to drink a whole lot of wine," Kate joked since this didn't look to be enough to her.
"What do you think, Maria?" She was a little behind him.
Maria studied the room. "Well, we'll need a microwave that we don't have. And I don't see a pantry. The six burner range with the two side by side ovens is really nice. We're going to need a table to eat on and chairs."
"Pantry, I had a thought about that. Over here." Rick walked out of the kitchen a step or two. "I'm not sure what this cabinet's for since we don't have a formal dining room per se. We can either use it or replace it."
Maria looked it over. "It has cabinet doors and drawers. It doesn't match the decor of the kitchen or anything else I've seen. It might be best to replace it. Lots of cabinet doors to hide it all. Something that matches the kitchen cabinets. We need bar stools, too." The breakfast bar looked small but at least it was something.
"We really need that interior decorator." Rick was now convinced that they needed someone to help them. "Log cabin on that end and something else on this end. Maybe she knows of a refrigerator for the wine."
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
They had spent close to two hours walking the house and found Alexis's room. The little girl wasn't impressed. It was empty and there was nothing to see.
"It will get better once you have a bed and furniture, pumpkin. See the bookcase for all your books up there?" Rick pointed. "You can sit up there and read."
"She's going to need a ladder. I'm going to need a ladder." Kate didn't see how she was going to get up there without one, let alone Alexis. "And that tub still has to go. In the middle of the master bedroom? Seriously?" She had no idea how anyone thought that was a good idea.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Kate had made a spectacle of herself wearing Rick's Islander jersey that had his name on the back. She had screamed, yelled, and whistled loudly. She felt bad for the Islanders, but they were now the enemy.
Rick had found Kate and got her past security so they could walk out together. "Rodgers!"
"TRENT!" Rick let go of Kate and walked up to him and shook his hand. Then they were hugging and patting each others back. "How're you doing?"
"Not bad, not bad." Trent looked at Kate. "I promised Chloe that I'd say hi for her."
"Please tell her I said hi. And that I miss her." The hockey game just wasn't the same without her.
"No more poker games," Trent said. "I haven't seen Roy since that last game at his place."
"I don't think these guys play poker," Rick laughed. "Don't even have a house yet to play in anyway."
"Hotel living? I don't think the wife would enjoy it even if it was an option." Trent was sure his wife would never come to away games.
"We've bought one though our stuff doesn't arrive for a few more days yet. It's nice, lots of room." Rick liked it and so far Kate had liked it.
"You won this one, Rodgers, but don't get used to it. Look me up if you make it back to the city." Trent shook his hand and walked away since he had a team bus to catch. Rick was home so he just needed his car.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
They'd won three of their next five games and Rick was home again in time to watch the movers unload their truck and take boxes where they were told.
The kitchen soon became a maze of boxes. Not just the kitchen stuff was in here but so were all the wine boxes. The computer room went upstairs and clothing was put into various bedrooms.
It had taken longer to pack it and load it than it had taken to unload it. With the truck now gone they were all looking at what was their new mess.
"No table to eat at. No bar stools to sit on and no food to cook." Rick shook his head. Oh, they had canned food and dry goods in boxes along with cookware, plates, glasses, and silverware, but the refrigerator was empty and it was even turned off.
Then the doorbell rang. "Might as well get started while I find out who this is." Rick left them behind.
Kate found Alexis a box to unpack while she and Maria did most of the work.
"Ladies, meet our interior decorator. Anita Meyers, this is Kate, my fiancée, Maria who is our nanny, and of course, Alexis. We need your help badly and have a lot to go over along with a number of wants and needs."
"I'll do everything I can." She could already tell that the kitchen looked a little small and they had no place to eat.
{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}O{}
Two hours later and Anita was leaving to find them a contractor. He would remove the cabinet and install a pantry in its place. She needed to research large wine coolers and determine just where they could go. The contractor would also remove the tub in the master bedroom and repair the damage that would cause.
She had three outdoor patio sets to find with each one being a little different. Also a large gas BBQ grill and a large play ground set for Alexis. Along with a lot of furniture for each and every room.
It wasn't a daunting task, it was just going to be a lot of work. But that was what she was being paid for. Besides, she really liked the house. Log home on one end and more modern contemporary everywhere else. And she liked that bear. She was planning on playing up the colors of that bear in the patio furniture.
