Chapter 28

A few weeks would pass.

Hunter and Jag returned back to his village, yet not with the news that they wanted to hear. "I'm sorry, I can't do this." Hunter said as gently as he could.

The family appeared devastated, however, Jag's father sighed aloud and nodded in understanding. "It was our fault for putting pressure on you like that, Son of Garou…"

"I understand your circumstance, I truly do, however, I love Jag… I feel like I would be betraying him in doing this. As well, it would be really weird if I had married his sister and him…"

He nodded. "We will think of something else."

Hunter nodded as Lynx ran out sobbing. Hunter decided to follow her, but never realized how fast she was!

It took him a moment to find her, when he did, he was stunned to see she was with a young man. "He's not going to marry you? Then I will fight for you!" he proclaimed.

"You can't! He will kill you!"

"I don't care Lynx! I won't let him have you!"

She sighed aloud. "You are the best hunter in the village, I know, but… this man… he is capable of killing monster bare handed…"

"I know…"

"Arktos…"

"I don't care if he can kill a monster with his bare hands, I won't let him have you!" he protested once more.

"The wedding is tomorrow…" she said and sighed.

"I'll be ready for it!"

As the two went their separate ways, Hunter was grinning from ear to ear. "Guess I won't have to fight for her…"

They came early the next morning.

On top of massive black stallions, the invasive tribe came and with the man who will marry Lynx at the front. He was smiling wickedly ever since he came into town, he even licked his lips at the sight of her and the village he assumed he was going to command. Jag and his brothers were at the ready, they kept knives and daggers in their belts just in case. Yet, before any of the men could dismount from their horses. Arktos stepped forward.

"I challenge you for the hand of Lynx!" he stated defiantly.

They laughed.

All of them came off their horses and snickered. He was smaller than Jag, however, he refused to back down to the man who was clearly two and a half feet taller than he was. The blond smirked as he glared down at the young man. "I've killed rats bigger than you."

"Then you won't be afraid to face me, will you!"

The blond snickered. "Get him boy, give us a show before you get married!" his father jeered.

He snapped his knuckles in anticipation. "Don't mind if I do, I got to burn off some of this energy! With accordance of the marriage law, I accept your challenge. We will battle barehanded until one cannot stand… or dies, whichever comes first!"

"ARKTOS, RUN! DON'T DO THIS!" Lynx pleaded.

He turned to smile at her…

When he was blind-sided.

Arktos was struck without warning and was already out on the ground. "That's it? One punch and he's dead… yeah, you would have been a good man to her…" the blond brute snickered. He turned his focus away for just a moment, when he was suddenly struck!

Under the chin, he was hit hard and stumbled back!

No one moved.

The young man, Arktos stood up once more. But there was a blank expression on his face. "What is this? He can take a hit! You just went up a little bit of respect, I respect you more than the rats I kill!"

He went in for another punch, yet it was gracefully dodged! Arktos went for his sides, striking in various spot. But despite the small jabs, the felt like knives in the brute's sides!

The brute stumbled back, holding on to his ribs as he found air was getting harder to come by. "What… what fighting method is this!?" he demanded.

Arktos then took an odd stance. His feet oddly spaced, his hands raised and arms arched and ready to strike. "He looks like some sort of weird bird!" commented the brute's family.

Yet he was getting pissed off. The brute came back at him, moving faster and trying to land at least one punch, only to have all his strikes miss! But when Arktos fought back, he wasn't making a fist to hit. No he used his palms. The tips of his fingers were hard enough to make them feel like sharp stabbing sensations to the blond.

But how?

He took one more shot to the chest, the blond brute collapsed to the ground, Arktos stood over him at the ready to battle once more. "What the hell is this guy's problem!"

"He is only going by the rules, are you quitting?" Leo demanded. "You do, you forfeit your demand of marriage!"

The blond picked himself up again, his wild long hair was getting in his face as a savage look came over him. "Screw this, I was going to wait until the honeymoon, but looks like it's going to happen early!"

His family stood at the ready, they took out their swords and weapons and smiled wickedly. "You declare war? You are greater fools than I thought," said Jag's father. "You forfeit your demand to marry my daughter. The moment you brandish a weapon in non-weapon combat you abandon your honor! We do not tolerate that!"

"We're the ones with swords! What do you have!?" the blond demanded.

"Me,"

They parted, he hid himself among the villagers, but quickly took off his disguise. Hunter stepped forward, as the brute and the family trembled. "Is… is… is that?"

"Son of Garou, yes, my soon to be son in law. He is engaged to my son Jaguar as of this moment. Now then, if you wish to battle, we will oblige"

They trembled, but the blond refused to yield. "I'll kill him! He's just a monster with a human face!" he came charging at Hunter, his sword drawn and yet as the sword struck!

The village froze. It appeared the tip of it had punctured Hunter's stomach, but then, they saw it. One of his coiled beasts pulling away from his body, the sword in its mouth until…

SNAP

It was bitten in half!

Hunter smirked. "You aren't the first to try and stab me, you know."

It was a hasty retreat.

The brute and his family ran out of the village as fast as they could!

There was much to celebrate that day until Arktos fell over!

"Arktos!" called Leo.

"He's fine, he did get knocked out after that punch," Hunter explained. "But it made controlling his movements a lot easier…"

The people froze as they turned to him oddly. "Control him?" asked Ty.

"Yeah, I got telepathic powers too you know. It was just enough to control his movements and fight back. But no law dictated that someone else couldn't control him in battle. So… I took some liberties. Also, Lynx loves him. He will make a good husband for her."

He was suddenly pulled into Lynx's arms. She held him wholeheartedly. "I will never forget this…" she whispered.

Hunter hugged her back. "I got sisters too, I know what it means to be a brother,"

"We will have these two married the moment Arktos wakes up!" Jag's father cheered. "TO THE HALL, LET'S DRINK!"
