Auto's lab

Yang, Blake, Weiss, Sun and Neptune had brought Rock to Auto's lab, had placed the robot into the scanning machine and were waiting for the scan to be completed.

"Auto, is Rock going to be ok?" asked Weiss.

"He will be, he was given an energy tank and now has enough energy to auto repair the damage done to him in that fight." said Auto.

"Energy tank?" asked Blake.

"Yeah, he was given an energy tank before being brought here." said Auto.

"Auto, none of us had given him an energy tank. We had all left the spare energy tank in our dorm, there is no way that one of us gave him an energy tank." said Yang.

"That's odd, cause the scan clearly said that he was given one." said Auto, after which an alarm went off. He looked over to one of the monitors and said "Would you look at that, the napalm bomb. At least we now know which robot he fought."

"What is the napalm bomb?" asked Neptune.

"It is a small bomb that does a lot of damage, any off you ever pay attention in history class?" asked Auto to which Weiss nodded, he then added. "Specifically the time before dust was found and used for every weapon." To which Weiss once again nodded.

"Anyways, it doesn't surprise me that he is in the state he is in right now. Napalm man is one of the most dangerous and unhinged robots that Dr Wily ever created, Rock is lucky to have survived." said Auto, then Rock's eyes opened and he looked around in confusion.

"Where am I!" he exclaimed in a panicked tone.

"Rock, calm down. You're in my lab, you're safe and being repaired." said Auto.

"I am?" asked Rock, slightly less panicked.

"Yes, just calm down. It will all be ok. I mean your speech is working again" said Auto.

Rock nodded and replied "Ok, I'm calm."

"So Rock, what happened?" asked Yang.

"Napalm Man managed to beat me, and then when he was about to land the final blow-" Said Rock, wanting to reveal who had saved him. Only to change his mind when he remembered what the figure had told him, he then continued "Something happened, and I can't remember what it was."

"I see." said Yang as she eyes Rock with suspicion.

"Good to see that you're feeling better." said Sun.

"Thanks, I really do feel-" Rock was about to say, only for the door to the lab to burst open and Ruby to rush inside.

She came to a halt in front of Rock, who was still strapped to the machine, and exclaimed "RockI'msorryforleavingyoualonepleaseforgivemefornotbeingabletohelpyouandgettingyouinjured."

"Ruby slow down." said Yang.

Ruby then repeated what she said with tears in her eyes "Rock, I'm sorry for leaving alone. Please forgive me for not being able to help you and getting you injured."

"Whoa, whoa Ruby calm down. I don't blame you for anything." said Rock.

"But you got injured because I couldn't help you, you got injured because I wasn't there to help you!" exclaimed Ruby as tears were streaming down her face.

Rock then got released from the machine, pulled Ruby into a hug and said "I don't blame you, I told you to go after whoever was going towards the tower to keep you safe from harm."

"But Rock-" said Ruby, only to be interrupted by Rock.

"I told you to go after that person to keep you safe, and because I knew I would be able to take him. I underestimated him, which is something I will never do again. So don't blame yourself for what happened." said Rock.

"You're not mad?" asked Ruby.

"I'm mad at myself, however I'm also happy. Happy that you weren't injured in the process." said Rock as he let go of Ruby.

"Thanks Rock, how are you feeling?" asked Ruby.

"I'm feeling better, if weren't for the rest of our team bringing me here I might not have been able to recover so fast." said Rock.

"So what do we do now?" asked Blake.

"I'll probably have to see Ozpin about what happened in the morning, and seeing that it is past midnight I say that we head to bed." said Ruby.

"Sounds like a plan, means I can finally get out of this neck trap." said Sun.

"So it is decided then?" asked Rock, making the others nod. He then turned to Auto and said "Thanks again for your help."

"It's no big deal, just get some sleep." said Auto.

Rock nodded, he and the others then left the lab and made their way back to the dorms. After saying their goodbye's to Sun and Neptune they entered the dorm room. Ruby kicked off her shoes and exclaimed "Finally, now I never have to wear those dammed things ever again!"

"But what about the school dance in our second, third, or fourth year?" asked Weiss.

"Like I said, never again." said Ruby.

"You're going to have to get used to them eventually." said Blake.

"Why, high heels freakin stink. I don't know how you or Weiss can fight in them." said Yang.

"Years of practice." said Weiss.

Rock then let out a yawn and said "Today was a long day, so what do you think. We all shower in the morning?" asked Rock.

"Oh Rock, becoming a bit daring today huh?" Joked Yang.

"Not like that, one at a time. I mean we don't leave until the late afternoon." said Rock.

"I don't know what you guys are going to do, but I need to wash the dust out of my hair." said Ruby, she then walked over to Rock, planted a small kiss on his cheek and said "Thanks for looking out for me, hero." She then quickly made her way into the bathroom.

The action left Rock in a state of shock, he was then grabbed by Yang who pulled him towards the door.

"Where are you taking him?" asked Weiss.

"The two of us need to have a little chat, and don't worry he'll still be alive tomorrow. So I suggest you all head to bed" said Yang as she pulled Rock with her into the hallway. They then made their way to the rooftop, which was when Rock snapped out of his shocked state.

"Yang, before you throw me off the roof. I promise you, I didn't do anything bad to Ruby!" Exclaimed Rock.

"I know and I want to thank you for taking her to the dance with you and keeping her safe." said Yang.

"You're welcome, I mean she is my teammate. Off course I would look out for her." said Rock.

"And that's the only reason?" asked Yang.

"Well... not really, I have also been experiencing this new feeling whenever I'm around her in the last couple of weeks. A happy and fuzzy feeling." said Rock.

"Looks like someone has a bit of a crush." said Yang, causing Rock to look at the ground in embarrassment to which she added "Don't worry, like I said before she also likes you."

Rock looked happy and asked "Is that all you wanted to talk about?" as he was about to walk to the door, only to be stopped by Yang.

"Not exactly, I know that you were lying about how that fight ended. Cause I checked the place where I had stored that energy tank, and it was gone. So tell me, what really happened." said Yang as her eyes turned from purple to red.

Rock realizing he would be in more trouble if he lied, replied "I was saved by an older woman, who then said something about us now being even, honestly it was hard to see. But she was dressed in red, wore a Grimm mask and had a similar hairstyle to you. Including that that weird piece of hair that sticks out on the top of your head."

"It's not that weird." said Yang as she grabbed the top of her head and pushed the piece of hair down, only for it to spring back up.

"So was that it?" asked Rock.

"Yeah, I just wanted to know what happened." said Yang.

Rock then headed towards the door, then turned around and asked "You coming?"

Yang flashed a friendly smile and replied "Go ahead, I'm going to enjoy the the fresh air a bit before heading off to bed."

"Sure, don't stay out too late." said Rock as he went into the stairwell and returned back to the room.

When Yang was alone, her smile turned into a frown and she sat down with her knees to her face. Silently sobbing about what she had just been told.

Cinder's dorm

Cinder, Mercury and Emerald had just returned from the dance and were enjoying the success of their plan.

The trio each had a glass of wine in their hands and held it up as Cinder made a toast "To a successful plan."

"To a successful plan." repeated Emerald and Mercury.

Cinder took a sip from her glass and said "I would just like to say, that the two of you did a great job at keeping a watch over the party. Although next time, warn me when people leave."

"Sorry, that's on me. That blond idiot showed up in a dress and caught everyone's attention." said Emerald.

"You mean the monkey faunus?" asked Cinder.

"No not him." said Emerald.

"You mean Xiao Long?" asked Cinder.

"No it was that blond idiot from JNPR, you know, the one that snuck his way into Beacon with fake transcripts." said Mercury.

"Oh that's right, him." said Cinder. "He's not a threat is he?"

"Not at all, he's the worst student in combat class." said Emerald.

"Good to hear, means he won't be able to help his teammate." said Cinder.

"That issssssss, not the only good newsssssss." said Snake Man as he entered the room from the window.

"Hey there Snake Man, got any good news for us?" asked Emerald.

"Yessssssss, Napalm Man wassssssssss able to take down Rock." said Snake Man.

"Oh really, now that is good news." said Cinder.

"It really isssssssssss, but unfortunately ssssssssssome women came in with a portal and ssssssssssliced him to piecessssssssss." said Snake Man.

"That sucks, but hey. That's one less person who can possibly meddle in phase two." said Mercury.

"You're right, I'm not even worried about that old man." said Cinder. "You are dismissed."

"Thank you, missssssstresssssss Cinder." said Snake Man as he left the room through the window.

Cinder then let out a dark chuckle, grabbed the wine bottle and said "This is just perfect, Rock has been taken care off, the bug has been planted and there is no way that anyone will know about phase two."

She then took a drink from the bottle, causing Emerald to exclaim "Cinder, we have to go on that mandatory mission tomorrow. You can't be drunk."

"Don't worry, I hacked the system. We're not going anywhere!" Exclaimed Cinder as she grabbed a box of wine bottles and said "Now drink up, we're going to be drinking the night away."

All that Emerald and Mercury were able to do was nod, as they joined Cinder in the little party she was throwing.

The next day

It was the day after the school dance, General Ironwood and Professor Goodwitch were in Professor Ozpin's office arguing.

"They were here! Ozpin! They were here!" Yelled General Ironwood as he slammed his hand on the desk in anger.

"We're very much aware of that! Thank you, James."

"Fantastic! You're aware! Now are we going to do something about it or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore what's right in front of us?" asked General Ironwood.

A sound was then heard coming from the elevator, the doors opened. Revealing Ruby in the elevator, then Ozpin said "Come in." After which Ruby entered the office.

"Sorry it took so long. Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here. It wasn't me." said Ruby in a nervous tone.

"Thank you for coming Ruby. How are you feeling?" asked Ozpin.

"Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad gut catching record wasn't zero to three." Joked Ruby, only to be met with silence. She then added "Okay, so that's the tone we're going for, got it."

"Ruby, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you and Rock did last night is exactly what being a hunter or huntress is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could." said General ironwood.

"Thank you sir." Replied Ruby somberly, thinking back to what had happened the previous night.

"Now, the general has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night, but now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add." said Professor Ozpin.

"Was anyone else with her? Did she look familiar to you at all?" Asked Professor Goodwitch.

"That robot seemed to be working for her, and was meant to keep us busy while she went to the tower. But other than that, I didn't recognize her. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked." said Ruby, catching Professor Goodwitch's attention.

"Save for the glass, that sounds like the women I fought the night we met Ruby." said professor Goodwitch.

"Embedding Dust into clothing is an age old technique. It could have been anyone." said Ironwood.

"Wait, you think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?" asked Ruby.

"It's possible. But we lack the required evidence to link the two together." said Professor Ozpin, he then added "Although it does confirm that Wily is working with the woman from last night."

"Actually, I... I think I remember he saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside of the kingdom." said Ruby.

"Interesting." said Professor Ozpin.

"I thought you said that the intruder never-" Professor Goodwitch was about to say, only to be interrupted by Professor Ozpin.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby. Why don't you go and spend some time with your team? You will be leaving on your mission by the end of the day." said Professor Ozpin.

"Any time." said Ruby as she made her way to the elevator.

"Miss Rose, how is mister Light doing?" asked General Ironwood.

"He made a full recovery from the damage that he took during the fight." said Ruby.

"Good to hear Miss Rose, now please. Try to be discreet about this matter." said Professor Ozpin.

"Yes sir." said Ruby as the elevator door closed and she left the office.

Once Ruby had left, General Ironwood exclaimed "Well there we have it. We send as many troops as we can to the southeast, found out exactly what's going on, and eradicate any forces that stand in our way!:

"Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado? You treat every situation like it's a contest of-" said Professor Goodwitch, only to be interrupted by Ozpin.

"Glynda!" He exclaimed.

"Well he does." said Professor Goodwitch.

"She's right. As much as I too would love to end this situation once and for all, we must remember that this may go beyond Vale. Beyond Beacon. And if this truly is part of some master plan for which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold. Nor can we risk the spread of panic." said Professor Ozpin.

"I have served you faithfully for years... but if you mean to tell me that your plan is to really hold the defenses and wait-!" General Ironwood was about to say, only to be interrupted by Ozpin.

"It is not! You're a general, James. So tell me, when you prepare to got to war, which do you send in first? The flag bearers, or the scouts?" asked Ozpin.

Team RRWBY's dorm room

Ruby had returned to the dorm building and entered the room, where she found her team waiting for her return.

"Uh hey guys, is everything alright?" asked Ruby.

"What did you tell them?" asked Yang.

"I... ahem... told them what happened last night." said Ruby nervously.

Blake noticing the nervousness asked "You told them something else as well, didn't you?"

"I might have accidentally let it slip that we know where Torchwick and the White Fang are." said Ruby.

"Do they suspect anything?" asked Rock.

"No not at all, it seemed like Ozpin ignored what I said and instead send me on my way here after I told him what happened." said Ruby.

"Still, it was a risky move." said Weiss.

"No, I think you handled it well." said Blake.

"I hope so." said Ruby.

"I mean, whats the worst that can happen? The Atlas military beats us there!" Exclaimed Rock.

"Eh, I'm sure everything will be alright Ruby. Oh I know what will cheer you up!" Exclaimed Yang as she grabbed a cylindrical package from a nearby nightstand.

"Whats that?" asked Ruby.

"I don't know yet. Dad sent it to us. I thought we could open it together." said Yang.

"What could he have send us, our birthdays aren't happening any time soon." said Ruby.

"Well lets find out then." said Yang as she opened the package, and out of it fell a small tube. After the tube wiggles around for a bit, it turn into a small corgi. Making the members of Team RRWBY react in shock at seeing the dog.

"Zwei!" Exclaimed Ruby as she picked up the dog and began to cuddle him.

"He sent a dog?" Asked Blake.

"In the mail?" Asked Weiss.

"How did he even fit in there?" asked Rock as he pointed at the small package.

"It's perfectly normal, you know how animals can have an aura?" asked Yang, to which Rock, Weiss, and Blake nodded "Well we unlocked Zwei's aura when we got him as a puppy and it allows him to get into small spaces or even use dust."

"Why was he send here?" asked Rock.

"Lets find out." said Yang as she shook the package, causing a letter to come falling out.

She grabbed the letter and said "Let's see what it says; 'Dear girls, how are you and your team doing. I'm fine, I have to leave Patch for a week for some personal business. I send Zwei over to you to take care of him, in the package you should find enough food for him for a week. Love you both, Taiyang.'"

"Oh I missed you so much!" Exclaimed Ruby as she kept snuggling her dog.

Blake in the meantime had jumped onto Ruby's bed and exclaimed "Please keep it away from mu belongings."

"Are you telling me that this mangy... drooling... mutt is going to wiv wif us for foweva? Oh yes he is, yes he is! Oh isn't he adorable!" Exclaimed Weiss as she grabbed Zwei and began to cuddle him as well.

"Huh, would you look at that. Had I known that all it takes are some cute animals to defrost the ice queen, I would have brought over my pets ages ago." said Rock sarcastically.

"Hey!" Exclaimed Weiss for a bit, only to return to cuddling Zwei.

"Wait, you have pets?" asked Ruby.

"I do, a dog, a cat, and a bird." said Rock.

"So where are they now?" asked Yang.

"Back in the lab in Atlas, I couldn't take them with me." said Rock, he then got an idea and said "You guys want to meet them?"

"How, that's thousands of miles away from here." said Blake.

"Watch and be amazed." said Rock as he switched into his armor and stood still for a bit. After a few seconds a red dog, a green cat, and a blue bird appeared in the dorm room. Rock was then knocked over, as all three of them jumped onto him "I missed you guys as well!" He exclaimed.

"Rock, how did you do that?" asked Blake.

"Simple, I'm connected to them. As long as there is a connection like the CCT tower I can summon them from anywhere. They turn into code, travel from one location to their destination and then they appear." said Rock, as the animals got of off him allowing him to add "Anyways, meet Rush the dog, Beat the bird and Tango the Cat."

Yang chuckled and said "Your father is a music nerd."

"I'm pretty sure all robot scientists are, cause beat was build by a colleague of my dad as a gift for saving his daughter from Dr Wily." said Rock.

Ruby then sat down to pet the animals, which they seemed to be enjoying. She then asked "Rock, they are robotic. Do they have weapons on them?"

"Kind of, Beat and Tango just straight up attack enemies. While Rush can do all sorts of things-" Rock was about to say what Rush was capable off, when he got interrupted by the intercom.

"Would all first-year students please report to the amphitheater?" said the voice of Professor Goodwitch.

"I guess it will have to wait for another day." said Rock as he had Rush, Beat, and Tango teleported away leaving Ruby without any pets to cuddle.

"No I wasn't done cuddling them!" Exclaimed Ruby.

"Don't worry, you'll meet them again." said Rock.

"So what do we do with Zwei, we can't exactly leave him here while we're gone for the week." said Weiss.

Yang then heard a noise from the package, she shook it while holding it upside down. Which caused several cans of dog food and a can opener to fall out "Well, that settles it! Come on guys, Zwei will be here when we get back." said Yang.

"Oh I'll miss you so much, we're going to be best friends, I can't wait to see you again!" Exclaimed Weiss as she said her goodbye's to Zwei.

Blake then jumps from Ruby's bed, to one of the desks out the door. She is then followed by Yang, Weiss and Rock who each a took a small bag of supplies with them.

Ruby looks at Zwei, thinks for a bit and lets out a sneaky smile.

The amphitheater

Ruby, wearing a backpack, joins her teammates in the amphitheater who are standing next to Team JNPR. The students present were talking amongst themselves and were making a lot of noise.

This caused Professor Goodwitch to exclaim "Quiet! Quiet please. Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin." Which made the students in the amphitheater stay quiet.

Professor Ozpin then took the stage and said "Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression."

"A war that was about much than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reason, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression."

"And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself; color."

"It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism and unity through diversity."

"As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest oft the world celebrates peace, huntsmen and huntresses will work to uphold it."

"As first year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional huntsman or huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the kingdom for several days. Other may work within the wall for the rest of the week."

"But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best." said Ozpin finishing his speech, and stepping away from the stage.

Back in the audience, Ruby turns to her teammates and says "This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a huntsman working in the southeast."

"Yeah, we'll follow them around by day and give them the slip by night." said Yang.

"This is the biggest coincidence ever." said Rock.

"Let's just check search and destroy." said Weiss.

The team then goes to one of the hologram screens and looks at missions located in the southeast.

"Here we go! Quadrant five needs Grimm cleared out!" Said Ruby.

"Well it's in the southeast." said Blake.

"Sound perfect." said Yang.

"Oooooh, but it says that first years can't take that job." said Rock as he looked at the description of the mission.

"Wonderful, just wonderful." said Weiss sarcastically.

"Any other ideas?" asked Blake.

"We mail ourselves there." said Ruby.

"Well that's one option." said Professor Ozpin as he approached the group "Unfortunately we determined that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that you four will make your way there no matter which job you choose."

The statement caused Yang, Blake, Weiss and Rock to glare at Ruby, who nervously replies "Whatever makes you say that?"

"I'm still curious how you all found yourself at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you learned about the hideout in the southeast. And I certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots, rose petals and a flying vehicle near a high way some time ago." said Ozpin.

"Uh... well..." said Ruby nervously.

"I doubt I'll ever find the exact answers I'm looking for. So how about this, instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them." said Professor Ozpin as he presses a button on his scroll, the hologram screen then shows that Team RRWBY was now doing the mission in the southeast.

"We won't let you down. Thank you professor Ozpin." said Ruby.

"Do not thank me for this. Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the kingdom will not care. Stay close to your huntsman at all times, and do exactly as he says. He will be leading you on this mission, and he can have you sent back to Beacon, if he finds your skills to be unsatisfactory. Good luck." said Professor Ozpin as he walked away from the team.

Later in the courtyard

Team RRWBY was making their way over to the landing docks to meet with their huntsman and were talking about what they were told.

"That wasn't exactly inspiring." said Yang.

"But it's the truth." said Blake.

"It's going to be tough, but I know we can do it." said Ruby.

"Yeah, besides it's the five of us and our assigned huntsman. We'll be fine." said Rock.

"Which off your weapons did you take with you?" asked Weiss.

"None of them, I felt I had become too reliant on them. So I decided to leave them in the room while we went on the mission." said Rock.

"What if they get stolen?" asked Blake.

"Don't worry, I hid the hard drive in a place that no one would think to look." said Rock.

"If you say so." said Yang, as a student runs past her. The team looks over to see what the student was in a hurry for. They then see that Team CFVY had returned from their mission, and were being surrounded by a crowd.

Team RRWBY then sees that Velvet was standing alone, so they approached her. When they got to her Blake asked "Velvet? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me." said Velvet.

"Your mission was supposed to end a week ago! What happened?" asked Weiss.

"Nothing happened. It was just... there were just so many..." said Velvet, only to get odd looks from Team RRWBY. She then added "Oh, but don't worry. You first years are just shadowing huntsmen, so you should be fine."

"Right." Replied Yang with skepticism in her voice."

"I should go. Be safe, okay." Said Velvet as she ran off to join her team.

"Thank you Velvet." said Rock.

"We can do this. We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now." said Ruby.

"She's right." said Blake.

"Besides, it won't only be us out there! We'll be fighting alongside a genuine huntsman!" Exclaimed Ruby in excitement.

"Yeah!" Exclaimed Yang.

The team then made their way over to the assigned airship. When they got there they saw a green haired person speaking to a person armed to the teeth in explosives and guns.

"Uh hi, we're here for the mission." said Ruby.

The person turned around, revealing himself to be Doctor Oobleck, and said "Why hello there Team RRWBY! Who's ready to fight for their lives." Shocking Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang.

Rock was also shocked, but not because his hyperactive history teacher was going to be leading them. But instead he was shocked at the person standing next to him, a person in a grey combat uniform with a dark blue headband. Armed to the teeth with weapons and smoking a cigarette.

Rock looked in shock as him, shocked because he had a strange feeling of deja vu at seeing the man. Like he had met him before, like he had seen the man in a different place but he couldn't quite remember where.
