Violet stepped out of the floo dusting herself off and greeting Dumbledore who smiled at her. "Good evening Ms Carrington. How are you this fine spring evening?" he asked her as she looked shocked at the kindness with which she was being greeted.

"Good evening sir. I am doing well however I really am looking forward to seeing Lavender again. It's been a while and we have a lot to discuss" she said as he arrived with her at the office inside which Lavender was waiting.

"Children can be tough and confusing at the most of times but know this that if you have truly not done anything wrong to Lavender all will be well in a couple of years. Here is where I leave you. When you're done you may continue to look around the school for a while or you may leave via my office if you like. Goodbye!" he said smiling and leaving. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open going inside and seeing a lunch set up.

Lavender was eating some carbonarra and there was another plate of it for Violet who truly did love the dish. She sat down opposite her daughter who was watching her closely but not saying anything.

"Lavender dear daughter it is so good to see you. I know William has prevented me from seeing you but I felt it only right that I come here now today to see you and explain things to you" she said as Lavender looked up a cold expression on her face.

"I am interested indeed to hear what you have to say Violet. I am struggling to think of anything which would excuse your actions but we will see!" she responded as Violet shrunk back slightly from her cold tone.

"It all started a while after you'd been born. I was at work and nothing seemed to be happening that particular day. I was bored and to entertain myself I decided to go to the records section where William's information would be and look at it. I just got there and managed to read his file before an intern cast a spell which went askew and soon enough the whole place was engulfed in flames. I was terrified so dropped the file and ran out of there as fast as I could. I had seen in his file that he couldn't have children and knew at once that you then belonged to James. It had said he hadn't even seen the file yet and so assuming it had been burned I told him you were his. I shouldn't have done it but I knew his heart would break if he learned he couldn't have children. I was trying to protect him!" she said as Lavender looked up at her with interest.

"Even if he couldn't have children did you not think he'd eventually find out and then know I wasn't his? I was heartbroken to learn I wasn't his. Did you know I thought he'd hate me or abandon me? I thought he would never love me again but he did. He did love me. I am still his daughter in his eyes and I will always love him for choosing me. I cannot in all good conscience love James Potter because to be quite frank he sees nothing wrong with destroying two different families if it gets him what he wants. He cares nothing for others and certainly didn't care for me. I never once even met the man. I had to learn of it via an inheritance someone unknown sent me!" she shouted sounding scandalised.

"What inheritance test I didn't know anything about this although James did mention you had a different name now I guess I just didn't connect the dots. Look I wanted to have my cake and eat it. I know it's wrong but I was wrong and I say I was. It is not fair for William to keep you from me like that. Just because I lied about who your true father was it doesn't mean I didn't love you. Can't you see James was a married man? It would have been a scandal had it gotten out at that point. We did date for years. I have some other news for you" she said as Lavender looked very hurt.

"Shame you didn't think of that when you were lying. Working late indeed! Where do you live now because you do not live with dad anymore?" she asked as Violet turned very angry that she refused to call James her father.

"Whether you like it or not James is your father and always will be. It wasn't safe for us to all be together but it is now and I will not have his name sullied like that! You will respect him. A few weeks ago we had a son called Samuel. You have a new baby brother. I would love for you to meet him sometime. He will need to bond with his big sister!" she said as Lavender looked shocked.

"SO not only did you ruin my family once with that son of a bitch but you then had the audacity to have even more children with him. I mean what's he doing going around having children everywhere with anyone he can find? He will never be my father but you do have a chance to still be my mother. You can redeem yourself but you must stop having children with that vile man. Please!" she cried out looking outraged as Violet who was also shocked slapped her across the face.

"How dare you!? I love that man. I always have and I always will. He is it for me. Unfortunately because I could not resist him William had the right to keep you to himself but I am fighting him on it. I will have you living with your rightful family in the end. This is far from over. He will not win! Don't you worry young lady we will have words in the future. Heal your damn face! I will have as many children as I like with James Potter and you are not in any position to levy threats at me!" she snapped as Lavender cradled her sore and now bleeding face.

"You see what happens when you meddle in things which you shouldn't. You have hurt me for the last time. You will not succeed and I will do all I can to stop you and that vile cretin James. Last I heard he's not even Lord Potter anymore. It must have hurt not having his money all the time anymore. You poor dear. I am Lady Hansen and I do not bow down to scum such as yourself. Ever touch me again Violet Carrington and you will live to regret it. As you no doubt know when we gain a lordship or ladyship in my case we become much more mature in order to handle the pressures of such a role. You don't want me as your enemy now get out!" she snapped and fired a cutting curse which nicked Violet in both of her legs before chucking her into the nearby floo and calling out the name of her office before sending her away. Dumbledore was alerted to the unauthorised floo usage and rushed to the office to find Lavender clutching her bruised and bleeding face. It would seem that when Violet had hit her it hadn't been with an open hand but a fist. Her nose was broken. He was totally shocked and upset for Lavender.

"Miss Hansen please come with me to the hospital wing. Are you ok?" he asked in worry.

"No sir I am not. My mother punched me and broke my damn nose. I couldn't take it and I fired a cutting curse at her legs and threw her into the floo before sending her to her office at work. I probably shouldn't' have done that but I truly don't care. You do not attack Lady Hansen unprovoked and get away with it!" she said as they reached the infirmary.

"Well as I didn't see it I cannot punish it so just have more caution next time. Oh Poppy there you are. Miss Hansen needs treatment as her mother punched her face and broke her nose. There is no sense in lying about it!" as Madam Pomfrey gasped.

"May I please ask what you said which made her do this? I find it hard to believe someone would just punch their child" she said kindly as she bustled about getting the various things she'd need to diagnose Lavender.

"I told her under no uncertain terms that I would never refer to James Potter as my father ma'am nothing more and nothing less!" she said as Madam Pomfrey dropped the bowl she'd been holding which fell to the floor with a clatter.

"I thought that had ended in their sixth year Albus? Do you mean to tell me that biologically James Potter is your father?" she said looking unsteady as Lavender scowled.

"Yes unfortunately. If they dated in school why did he not just remain with her instead of marrying Professor Evans and then cheating on her?" she asked as Dumbledore answered her.

"He couldn't do that I'm afraid as his parents threatened to kick him from their family if he did not agree to sign the marriage contract to Professor Evans. They thought Professor Evans could make him into the better son they wanted. If he cheated however his marriage would be null and void. Professor Evans father was a lawyer and so had trained his daughters to be able to read a contract in it's entirety. She read the whole contract he did not!" he responded as she looked shocked.

"He must have been vile in school if his parents had to threaten him like that wow!"

"Yes he was. I thought like his parents that Professor Evans would be good for him and help to get him on the better path towards being a better man but it did not. He could not stay on the straight and narrow as it were for too long and eventually had to start seeing your mother again. I am so sorry Ms Hansen that this happened to you at all. Would you like me to inform your father of what she did?" he asked referring of course to William Brown and not James Potter.

"No thank you sir. I will tell him myself if I need to. I am not sure that course of action would be so good right now!" she said as Madam Pomfrey handed her a potion to take which hurt like hell once she'd swallowed as it was designed to snap her broken bones back into place which it did effortlessly. She would need to spend the night at the hospital wing for observation reasons but would be allowed to go back to her dorm tomorrow. Elsewhere James who had planned to surprise Violet at work jumped as she tumbled out of the floo with cut legs and fell on the floor.

"Violet! Who did this to you baby? Who do I need to make pay?!" he demanded as she said Lavender before passing out. Oh she'd rue the day she'd ever attacked her mother like that and he'd make sure of it!
