The whole event was opulent. Crown Prince Sean Renard had returned from Vienna to make sure his daughter's wedding was truly fit for a princess. He had personally set several valets over the festivities and had spent a medium sized fortune on the affair. Things had gone perfectly as expected.
He had made sure all Seven Kings and their queens were there. There were fifty one Royals in attendance. In addition, there were twenty one Grimms, seventy seven hexenbiests, one hundred fourty nine Wesen, a sixty eight person Verrat security detail, and eleven Kersite. This had the possibility of being perhaps the most dangerous wedding in the history of man except for one thing - Diana. She had made her expectations clear. No one on the planet was prepared to cross her on her wedding day. No one was really sure what "Personally Lay waste to their soul" actually meant, but given Diana, they were all certain they did not want to find out.
Nick was the one who had insisted Renard walk her down the aisle. He knew this was an incredibly special day for his former boss. The man had always kept close tabs on his daughter even though they had become distant years ago. Her father had been warming back up to her since the wedding had been announced.
Kelly was on his way around greeting and thanking all the guests. As he worked his way around - several friends reminded him that Julie was back at the family table and had been arguing with the wait staff. He grumbled and looked over to see her frowning and picking at her dinner. He watched King Fredric of Monaco ambling over to the table with his wife - Queen Henrietta of Spain. "No!" he thought to himself "no no Julie, not a King!" He headed over to intercept His Royal Highness before she picked a fight with The King himself.
Luckily King Fredric had a soft spot for antique swords. Kelly intercepted him and The King complimented him on the sword... He was curious because it looked genuine. His security detail looked on nervously as Kelly drew the ancient Syrian sword out of it's sheath. The King's eyes sparkled as he inspected it's steel patterns and the artistic arabic inscriptions guilded down both sides. He felt the balance and feel - perfect! It was in excellent condition to have been used in battle as many times as it had been! The old man had heard of this sword and always had wanted to see it in person.
He was holding the sword of Saladin the Great... He asked if Kelly would mind allowing the old man his fancy? Of course, anything for his highness! The king pulled his silk handkerchief out of his pocket and draped it on the edge. The old man gave the sword a slight twitch and watched the handkerchief part and it's two halves flutter to the floor. The old man exclaimed with a bright eyed smile "I thought it was only a legend!"
Now the old king was curious how it had come to his hands? Kelly revealed it had been a gift from the king of Saudi Arabia as a token of his appreciation for Kelly saving his life the second time. "So that's where it ended up?" The old man smiled, then told Kelly he heard the Saudi king had given over $40-million for the piece. He was curious - had The Grimm, you know, and made a motion with his hand across his neck? Kelly smiled "Of course!" The old man was curious "How was it?" Kelly smiled "Effortless."
Kelly smiled politely at the old man and thought to himself "The Sauds have no issue with gratitude." Unlike the man standing before him - whose own life Kelly had rescued and whose administrative assistants had never bothered to so much as sent a preprinted Christmas card.
As he made his way around - he took the time to speak with the Grimms. Nearly the entire world's population of Grimms was at the wedding tonight. He decided it was upsetting that they were among the last left. In a sober moment of reflection he thought to himself "We need to be having children, yet we are only having adventures." Soon he was called back to the family table for the toasts.
He saw the crown prince congratulating his mother on her current pregnancy and admiring the three youngsters fidgeting away next to his parents. Then he turned to his father smiling, teasing, and laughing with him that he couldn't wait and so he and Adalind had gotten along with having his own grand kids... Diana would be nearly thirty years older than her soon to be brother which was due in another two months. This would make number eight - His Diana and then seven more with Nick. He saw his father smile a bright smile and say "You know how Gypsy curses go."
He made his way back to the table and found Julie complaining, picking at her gourmet food, and being generally insufferable. She had an infinitely long list of ridiculous and trivial objections... The ketchup was too sweet, the napkins too fluffy, The filet mignon not medium enough, $500 bottle French white wine too warm, the dinner plates had too many grooves, the fresh tarragon on the shrimp is limp, the beef tartar has too many capers in it, why were the mints so green, and so forth... He was greeted by his mother, father, brother, and sisters all making motions at him to push some drinks on her... To his credit he had not arrived unprepared - he had her favorite, the venerable Cosmopolitan.
3.5 drinks later Julie was feeling warm and relaxed - so she asked to be excused to the restroom.
A few minutes later the table was greeted by Melissa's bright eyes and cheerful smiling face. In contrast to Julie's hair pulled up into a bun, her smooth straight black hair is running halfway down her back. Instead of Julie's frumpy and average dress - Melissa's dress is perfectly tailored to accentuate her dark skin and toned figure. Instead walking like a scientist Melissa is walking like a supermodel. Melissa is here now and everybody in the whole place loves her. None of the men in the place can keep their eyes off her including Kelly.
She smiles at Kelly, wraps him up in a big hug, plants a kiss directly on his mouth then mouths "I am so happy to finally see you." She discretely leans around, kisses and licks his neck, then whispers to him in ancient Sumerian "Mmmmm! You know I can't resist a man in uniform. Are you going to come rescue me tonight?" His face lights up immediately.
Diana walks by and smiles a giant smile "Hey Melissa! We are all so glad to see you are finally here!" Diana kisses her cheeks, takes Melissa's hand, flashes her eyes bright purple and whispers. "Oh, remember what I said before, this is my wedding, so no starting fights for Kelly!" Melissa smiles a cheerful smile, grins, says "Diana! Oh you are so beautiful! I have never seen a wedding as perfect as this! I will absolutely make sure your dear brother stays on his very best behavior tonight" kisses Diana on the cheek, and finishes Julie's cosmopolitan. She softly touches Kelly's face with her fingers in a gentle caress and His head follows her hand. His eyes are glazed over in a big smile, then she takes the uniformed soldier's hand.
She announces she wants to dance and pulls Kelly straight out to the floor. After a few dances, she pawns him off on a beautiful strawberry blonde haired princess who had been eyeing him and dances with Nick, then works her way through Chuck, Kyle, and Jason. Then she makes her way over to dance with all the kings and crown princes before finally making her way back to Kelly for the slow dances. As they embrace hand in hand through the slow dance, their matching wedding bands touch.
