"Are you SERIOUS?!" Zed exclaimed as he leapt out of the van and ran up to the SUV that Eliza was leaning against
It was black with deep green and purple flames snaking their way up the bumper and the wheel wells. It has green LED lights illuminating the undercarriage. Zed opened the drivers door to take a closer look at the black on black interior with green and purple accents
Zed looked from Addison to Eliza
"But what ... how ..." he trailed off
Eliza smiled
"Ask her." She said as she gestured to Addison
"Well ... we need another vehicle, and soon, and I just couldn't let you drive anything we saw in Seabrook, so I got with Eliza and we chose one out of the junkyard, and well ... here it is! Think of it as an ... early wedding present." She said with a huge smile.
Zed suddenly rushed forward and enveloped her in a huge hug
"Just when I thought I couldn't love you any more than I already do ... and just when I thought you couldn't get any more amazing ... somehow... you DO." He said as he kissed her.
He then pulled Eliza into a big bear hug
"And YOU...are the best friend a zombie could have." He said as he released her.
"Yeah ... I know. "Eliza said as she handed him the keys.
"Ready?" He said as he opened the passenger side door.
"Wait ... someone has to drive your dad's van home." Addison said
"I will, you two just get home." Eliza said
Zed hugged her again
"Thanks, Eliza."
"Your welcome, now get!" She said as she made a shooing motion with her hands
"Hey ... penny for your thoughts." Addison said as they were watching TV in bed together later that night
"I was just thinking how so much has changed since winter break; first you learned you had this extended family you never even knew about, then we find our were having a baby, get a house and a car!"
"Yep, one more month and we get to meet this little dude." She said as she put her hand over her stomach
"I can't wait, I'm so excited to be a dad, Addy, you have no idea." Zed said as he put his hand over hers.
"Bree's coming over first thing to pick up all the paperwork for cheer practice. It's gonna be so hard not going with her, even more so because you're going to be shadowing coach."
'And I'll be here with nothing to do.' She thought sadly to herself
"I know you don't like this, but it's what's best. Like the doc said, you have plenty of time to be a go getter once the baby is born." He said as he kissed her forehead
"Yeah ..." she said as she snuggled down in bed
"Good morning, Addy!" Bree said as they hugged.
"Thanks for taking the reins while I finish with this dude." Addison said as she put her hands on her stomach
"I still can't get over how good pregnancy looks on you. I hope one day that it ... looks as good on me." Bree said, her cheeks reddening
"It will, Bree, and you'll make an amazing mom one day. It was my hope that our kids would be able to grow up and play together... but I kind of messed that up, didn't I. " Addison said with a laugh.
"It's totally fine! And just think, when we have ours, you'll be able to give us tons of advice and tips!" Bree said as she looked through all the material Addison had given her
"Is this everything? Because I don't want to leave anything out ..." Bree trailed off as she flipped through all the paperwork
"Bree ... hey ... you'll be FINE, you've been running cheer practice alongside me for the last year, you've got this!" Addison said as she hugged her
"Thanks, Addy, your support means a lot to me." Bree said as she practically skipped out the door.
Zed walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her
"I know that was hard for you, no matter how much you trust Bree."
"Yeah ... it is ... mostly because I enjoy it so much." She said, her voice tinged with sadness.
"I know you do, because you love it, it's what makes you, YOU." He replied as he pressed his lips to her temple.
"Yeah but it's not forever, right? And when my son is old enough he can come along with me."
"When he's not coming with ME to football practice. " Zed countered
"Oh is that right?" She said, turning to face him as she crossed her arms in front of her.
"Yeah, that's right." He said as he smirked at her
"Well, we'll see about THAT." She challenged him as he looked at his watch
"Go." She urged him
"But ...what if something happens?" He said
"That's what these are for, you have one, too, you know." She said jokingly as she held up her phone.
Still, he hesitated, car keys in hand
"Zed, really... Doctor Henley said we still had a good month to go, maybe more before this little dude makes his appearance. "
"If you remember correctly, she also said that he could come anytime between now and your due date." He pointed out
"And if he decides to, you'll be the first person to know. " she replied as she pushed him playfully towards the door.
"Now go, how else do you expect to take over coaching if you don't shadow coach and learn all you can from him, I have my finals to study for, along with planning the wedding, so I have plenty to keep me busy. "
"But not TOO busy, remember, you're supposed to be taking it easy too." He reminded her
"Yes, sir!" She said with a playful wink as she saluted him
He pulled her close for a brief, but spine tingling kiss
"I love you."
"I love you back, now go kick some butt." She said
"Yes ma'am!" He said with that cocky grin she loved so much as he left.
Once he was gone, Addison settled on the couch and opened her books and her laptop
"Okay ... let's do this!" She told herself.
Doctor Henley has been right, the next month passed fairly uneventfully. The baby's growth had, seemed to have plateaued, which Addison was thankful for, because she had already had to invent new ways to get out of bed, and off the couch when no one was home to help her up.
"Well it seems that the lack of room hasn't prevented this guy from getting his exercise in!" Doctor Henley said with a laugh as she watched the sonogram monitor.
"TELL me about it, he kicked me in the ribs several times today and I thought I was going to cry!" Addison said with a laugh.
"So everything's still okay? He should be here by now right?" Zed asked, his voice thick with concern.
"Well, forty weeks is technically full term, but the date of conception is almost never accurate, in fact, estimated date of delivery is rarely accurate in fact, a baby is born on its predicted due date just four percent of the time. But if you pass forty weeks, I want to talk about possibly having you induced. Which means we'll give you a drug called pitocin that will jump start your labor. "
"That sounds scary. " Zed said as he took hold of Addison's hand a a they exchanged a worried look.
"Let's not worry about that now, everything seems normal, the baby looks great, you look great, great job on following my advice by the way, because you did, your blood pressure is almost back to normal for a pregnant woman." Doctor Henley said with a smile.
"That's great news!" Zed exclaimed
"Thr next four weeks will be crucial, no traveling, no long trips away from home, I will be on call, so if you do go into labor, I will be here to deliver this little guy. " she said
"There is one thing ... we wanted to have the wedding before this guy gets here, would that be ... okay?" Addison asked
"As long as you're not traveling out of town, and you make sure to take it easy, I don't see the harm." Doctor Henley said
"Yes!" Zed exclaimed as he pumped his fist
"Thank you, doctor." Addison said
"In a week, we'll be getting married! I can't believe it." Zed said as they drove home
"We did it, Zed, we're going to have our 'Someday '. " Addison said as she put her hand over his
"You and me side by side, out in the broad daylight. " He sang to her
"They laughed, but we said we'd be someday. " she sang in reply as she squeezed his hand.
