Final chapter of this volume! At the bottom, there's a link to the next volume: In Libra, We Have The Bloodhound.
On a drive to back home. Thanks to the directions given by Ink. The two teens relaxed in their seats while Gilbert is driving them. They will be drop off three blocks away from their hideout. For now, the teens could only sit in the car in peace.
"So tired..." Ink yawned before laying her head on Rust's shoulder which made him blink if not once but twice. "Sorry." She yawned as she tilts her head and shifts her body towards the window. "Just wake up when we're there." With that, she takes a nap.
"Right." Rust sighed with a smile. While Ink takes a nap, Rust looks over to Klaus from the other side.
"So..." Rust speaks but pauses. He goes to speak but pauses again. The teen doesn't know how to kill time with a conversation. Honestly your best friend and leader just challenge your 'new' boss for a fight after joining their secret organization. So yeah, it was awkward after that happened. " Yeah...uhhh.."
"No need to explain yourself, Rust. I understand why your friend, Ink would do this. She wanted to see if I can be trusted after everything you went through the last couple of weeks." Klaus stated as he looks over to a sleeping Ink, "At first, she seems amazed by us yet she doesn't trust us. So, I can conclude that the spar was a test to see. I suspected that she didn't say it outright because it might cause some friction."
Rust blinked, "What?" So that's why? If anything, it made sense. He looks over to the sleeping Ink who is snoozing peacefully. Probably about some cola or something related to dragons. Ink wasn't the one who talks a lot or gives time to explain, her actions do.
"You and Ink seem to be very good friends. Despite the chaotic nature of your group, I am glad to know that you all are good friends."
Heh. "Yeah. I couldn't be anywhere without them." Rust smiles at the thought of his friends. "They got my back no matter what." Now thinking about it, Rust is worried about something so he has to ask. "So... you're not worried about...that we got bounties on our heads?" Rust asked after some hesitation.
"We do have concerns regarding your fraction's background. But I and Steven are willing to talk to Daniel Law regarding it. We might convince him to drop the bounties on you and your friends' heads. Knowing Law, he might consider it." Klaus stated.
"Really?" Rust asked he is surprised by this. "Wait...you know Daniel Law?" He asked.
Klaus nods, "Indeed. We help out with his toughest cases time to time or whenever there's a Blood Breed involved."
"Huh." Rust nods, accepting it. So, they worked with the police. "So...are Blood Breeds really that tough to beat?" He asked.
"They are." Klaus stated, "They are creatures of the night that prey on the weak, they usually leave a trail of death and destruction. You and your friends saw it first hand."
"Like those zombies, right?" Rust frowned.
"Yes, ghouls."
"And I bet that guy from last night wanted revenge after I kicked his Master's ass and...look." Rust sighed as he rubs his neck, "I kinda remember some parts but I feel really angry and... uh...I want to say I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to...I."
"Rust..." Klaus immediately held his hand up, "there's no need to apologize, you were frightened, that's what I saw along with that anger. I know you didn't mean it. your actions save the lives of Leonardo and Doctor Estevez."
"Yeah but...I... wrecked most of the hospital..." Rust looked away, feeling guilty about that. "I think?" Barely remember anything, he could remember parts of it. He had a feeling that he left a huge mess. It made Rust wished he has the power to control his abilities and maybe. Maybe that's another reason he joined. To own up his shit for something he should have control over. Not to mention, he feels like he hurt the people that tried to help him.
Then he felt a hand on his shoulder making the blond startled and look up to Klaus. For some reason, the green kind eyes of his made him feel at ease. "Doctor Estevez was really worried about you. when I go in apologize for what happened. She said that she cares less about the damage, she is worried about you especially when you left the hospital. But when I tell her that you're doing alright, she is very relieved and happy to know that you're enjoying time with your friends."
"Really?" Rust blinked. Doctor Estevez is really that worried about him. Man, she's a good doc!
"Indeed." Klaus smiled. "If you like, we can meet her someday tomorrow or this week."
"Yeah...that would be nice!" Rust grinned.
Then the two felt that the car has stopped.
"Sir, we're here." Gilbert notified the two which got the blond to nudge Ink to wake up, "Ink, we're here." He said to which Ink groan groggily, "Already? That was fast! And pretty comfortable!" She smiled.
The teens got out, "It's nice to meet you, Ink, and I'm glad that you'll be joining us, Rust." Klaus presses a fist to his chest. Ink grinned, "Nice to meet you too, Mister Klaus! Let's fight again sometime."
"Of course!" Klaus nodded.
"Yeah, can't wait to start!" Rust grinned.
As the teens bid their farewell to Klaus and Gilbert, they made their way to their apartment building where the whole team is waiting for them. Especially...
"WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?!" Navarro shouted at them both with his hands on his hips as if he is worried sick.
"Don't worry, Navarro! I mean we're safe and sound!" Ink grinned.
"Yeah, we're all good." Rust grinned.
"All good?! Then why the hell that YOU!" He pointed at Ink, "fight the CEO of Libra and two!" He then points at Rust, "Why didn't you stop her?!" He yelled.
"Uhh..ya know how Ink is! I mean she did it for me!" Rust smiled to which Ink giggled.
"YEAH OKAY!"He said sarcastically, "But if anything, since you two idiots, isn't seriously injured. So what happened?! Navarro sighed and now looks directly at Rust, "Is it really true, you joined?!"
Rust gives the boy a firm nod, "Yeah I joined! I can't stay like this especially where the level I'm at. But don't worry about that, I'm not leaving the team. They're going to help me out with blood powers."
The team looked hesitant but seeing Rust's eyes full of determination and eagerness. They accepted the results. Still, there were a lot of questions.
"That's good," Oblivion stated. "So, when you do start?"
"Tomorrow," Rust answered.
"Just like that?" Maggie asked.
"Yeah," Rust answered.
'No catch or anything?!" Fosh asked.
"I don't think so?" Rust asked.
"Huh?! So how did you know exactly that they won't trick you?" Fosh asked.
"They won't. That's why I have battled with Mister Klaus!" Ink interjected. Fosh blinked, "HUH?! How does that make sense?!"
"It just does! I really think Libra has some cool people!" Ink laughed. Fosh sighs, "If I say so, I guess we have to trust you on your word..."
"Did they said anything about us?" Hellmare asked.
"Oh! Right! Klaus is going to talk to Daniel Law about our bounties. He might take them off for us." Rust answered.
Eh?! Everyone blinked including Ink as she is surprised to hear.
EH?
"WHAT?!" Everyone yelled.
"What do you mean they're going to take them off and also, why are you acting so surprised?!" Fosh asked Ink. After all, Ink is with Rust. "Oh! Well...I took a nap in their limo." Ink answered.
"YOU GUYS WERE IN A LIMO?!" Fosh, Navarro, Maggie, Taz, Gerald, and Jaron yelled. "HOW?!
"Yeah! It's pretty fancy!" Ink grinned.
"Are they rich or something?!" Navarro asked.
"Honestly... " Shdwkyz sighed, "that's what you guys are focusing on?" He asked them before glancing over to Rust, "Though it isn't surprising that they worked with Law since this is a secret organization we're talking about. But I don't think it's possible given the crimes we did. Not to mention, we did target some of HPLD officers even though some of them are corrupt. I highly doubt Lieutenant Law would agree to it. We all know how he is."
"I agreed." Hellmare said, "It's highly unlikely that all of us might have our bounties taken down. Even we gave the police some help dealing with gangsters and white-collar criminals. But I doubt they appreciate a lot of work put on their plates after our parties."
"Yeah! Shdwkyz and Hellmare are right!" Ink stated with her arms crossed, "Besides...I don't want my bounty taken down! I got to uphold my reputation as the dragon around here. I gotta be famous, you know! You need to tell Klaus that!"
"That's what you worried about, you idiot?!" Navarro and Maggie yelled angrily. Shdwkzy can't help but rolls his eyes and shakes his head with a smile. Fosh just facepalmed. Jaron cracks up.
"It would be great to get our bounties taken off but at the same time, we might go back to what we're doing most of the time. So, what's the point?" Oblivion pointed out.
"Couldn't say it better than myself." Shdkwyz agreed.
"Huh...never thought about it. I might need to talk to Klaus bout it." Rust said, nodding in agreement. Though, Rust is going to forget about it sooner or later since he's excited to go to Libra tomorrow.
"Still! You're joining Libra?! That's pretty amazing!" Fosh exclaimed. 'How are they like?! How is their tech?!"
"It's like a big office! It's pretty...how can I put it? No cubicles. Pretty big and feels comfy. Just the feeling of it. It's like the office but there's a lot of plants around, there's some in mini greenhouse or meeting room behind the glass room. As for the tech, I didn't see any servers or something. They're probably somewhere. "
"Plants?" Ophelia's eyes lit up at the mention of plants, "What kind of plants?" She smiles as she is very curious.
"Haven't check but I will let you know. They might give me a tour or somethin!" Rust smiled.
"I see. What else do they have?" Hellmare asked.
"Yeah...I get the feeling that they aren't that strict." Jaron asked.
"Oh! Man! They got a long bookshelf like... four shelves but like I can't describe the height but the width! It's like...really long. You should of see it, Hellmare. They got a lot of books. It's like a mini-library!" Rust grinned.
"Interesting! I assumed they liked reading books!" Hellmare smiled.
"Yeah! Plus, it's a lounge slash office! Pretty fancy but not too over the top if ya get what I mean!" Rust explained.
"Plus! They got huge windows and I think they got a balcony! You can see most of the city. Their floors are titled black and white checkers!" Ink adds in, describing Libra's headquarters to the team. "And the ceiling is so tall! It's like you're on top of a building."
"Shouldn't a secret organization be underground?" Maggie asked.
"Most secret organization can hide in plain sight." Fosh corrected her. "It's pretty good if an infamous organization like Libra lives around somewhere in Manhattan."
"Then...how many tall buildings are there?" Oblivion said.
"Roughly 6,000 in Hellsalem's Lot when it's back as New York City. 274 of them are skyscrapers even if the city has changed if you think about it. It's pretty smart." Fosh answered. "It's pretty hard to pinpoint which building if you're the enemy!"
"Agreed. The way you put it makes a lot of sense. Not to mention, their place of operations serves as a castle if you think about it." Hellmare chuckles. "You can see what's going on in the city and you have access to most of the communications in the city. Plus, it's hard for everyone to fight their way up. Not bad."
"Okay, we get the idea of what the office looks like but how many people are inside?"
"It's not a lot. There's Klaus, Leo, Zed, and Zapp. I met three people I haven't seen before. One guy with some scars in a suit, another is a woman in a suit, and oh...there's one guy who dressed up a butler and has bandages around him, Klaus calls him Gilbert." Rust answered.
"Wait so..." Fosh counted his fingers, "So like seven people? That can't be right!" Fosh stated. "There have to be more members!"
"Maybe they're somewhere in the building. Probably in their own offices!" Ink said. Then her stomach begins to growl loudly. "Ehhh...all this talking is getting hungry! Wait! Since Rust is joining! We should do something for you, Rust!" Ink grinned.
"How about pizza? I already ordered seven pies! Two of your favorites, Rust! Supreme with extra pepperoni!" Jaron smiled.
"Awesome! That's a great idea!" Ink grinned.
And so, the team enjoyed the rest of their night with their pizza party, celebrating Rust's entry into Libra. Wishing him good lucks and giving him good pieces of advice and warnings. Rust smiles throughout the night.
"Let's wish that Rust is going to get more awesome at Libra!" Ink smiled happily.
"Represent us, Rust! Let those damn Libra members know that we're no punks, got it!" Navarro ordered.
"And show them what you're capable of," Shdwkyz smirked.
"Yeah! I will be rooting for you!" Gerald exclaimed.
"You're going to do a good job, Rust. I know it!" Hellmare stated.
"Yes! Also please take my potions if you run into any trouble!" Ophelia stated.
"If you want, I can make you some lunches!" Jaron laughed.
"Heck! Ask me anything if you're having trouble!" Fosh stated.
"Or just call us if anything goes wrong," Oblivion said stoically.
"Yeah, if they tried to mess with you or anything, we mess with them. You can count on that!" Maggie said.
"Yeah!" Taz yelled.
"Heh, thanks, guys! I think I'm going to be alright!" Rust grinned with confidence.
With that, the night has ended with everyone finished eating, went back to their rooms, showered, and went to sleep.
The next morning...
Today is a new day as the sun rises.
Today was to go to Libra for his first day.
If only Rust will wake up as he is sleeping soundly on his bed after partying too hard last night with the pizza and the gaming. He made sure he put an alarm on his phone but it didn't help as he slept through it. Then suddenly, his phone begins to vibrate.
Hearing the sound, he groggily picks up the phone from the nightstand. He answers it and held it to his ear.
"Hello?" He yawned.
"WAKE UP YOU BRAT!"
The familiar shout of the man named Zapp got Rust to widen his eyes as he rolls off from the bed and hits the floor. "Ow! Uh! Whose is this?!" He asked.
"Whose is it?! It's me, you little shit, ZAPP! Do you know what fucking time is it?!"
"Huh? I don't know! What time is it?!" Rust asked.
"Oh! Glad you asked. It's...7:50 almost...bout to be eight. Didn't ya know you're supposed to come at 8 am." Zapp answered. Rust turns pale at the answer which he yells, "OH SHIT! SORRY! LET ME GET DRESSED! I WILL BE THERE!" He drops his phone and goes into his bathroom, failing to notice that Zapp is laughing his ass off on the other line before he hanged up.
Right away, he showered and put on his best clean clothes. An orange shirt with a yellow stripe, his denim jeans, his white sneakers, and finally his trademark grey hoodie with the rustic gears around his drawstrings. He looks at himself in the mirror and smiles, "Alright, time to do this!" He fisted and runs out to the room.
"Guys! I'm late! Gotta go." He yelled to see everyone. Some of the members like Hellmare and Fosh are up since they're early birds while Jaron is making breakfast. "You sure, you don't want breakfast?!" Jaron asked.
"Nah, it's all good. I get some on my way there! No problem! Later!" Rust stated before running out to the door. He didn't stop running, thanks to his demonic speed, and fewer people on the street. Recalling where he was... he skids to the halt as he remembers where he is at. Okay...he remembers getting out of there so... ha-ha! There it is. He goes to the building and enters the room which leads to an elevator. Entering the elevator, he doesn't know which...so...he presses all of them! As he goes up to each room, none fits the double doors he remembers yesterday until he got to second to the highest floor. He was tapping on his foot impatiently until he got there.
There it is!
Rust got out of there. But before entering, he takes big deep breathes, "Okay, Rust. You can do this. You're ready for this. Time to show them what you got!" He whispered before pressing two doors with his two hands and pushes,
"Hey, guys! Sorry for the lateness!" Rust grinned as his grey eyes shone with determination.
Time to go to work!
Oh my gosh! I'm so happy that I finish a fanfic! Also thank you to everyone who sticked me! So here's your second volume of Rust's story with Libra and his fraction, DBT.
