Epilogue

Flash forward 10 years.

Hinata walked into her home carrying her youngest daughter Hira. At 5 years, her youngest reminded them a lot of Hinata at that age, both having a very similar physical outlook and demeanor. As a result Hira tended to be attached at the hip to her mother.

Alternatively, their eldest son Hiashi at 9 years of age was the mirror image of Neji and was similarly attached to his father. And to round out their family, they had been blessed with a set of twins in the middle, age 7, named Haku (who was a boy) and Hana (who was a girl) who were attached at the hip to each other and tended to be a bit mischievously bent. Those two caused quite a lot of grievance to their parents as they went around the compound pranking people and getting into trouble. The only saving grace was that they were so cute that most people forgave them instantaneously.

Hinata continued to walk in and absently handed her daughter over to her nanny after dropping a quick kiss on Hira's cheek. She then continued onwards trying to wrangle the rest of her children for dinner time.

Despite having a big family Hinata was blessed to have some help from her clan in raising her children. As a result of that she had been able to maintain her medical career over the years, and had opened up a clinic in the Hyuga district. Two days a week she kept the clinic open for strictly Hyuga patients and the other 3 days a week she maintained the clinic as a private practise.

In addition to her medical practise she had worked with Neji over the last few years to build a business out of her medical lotions and balms. She of course still made them freely for her clan members, but they had come to find that there was a larger market for these products within the various nations. So they built a business model and went into operation. They wanted to keep the product affordable, so a large part of the revenue simply covered the operational costs of the business and the remaining small profit went to supplement their clan. The biggest reward for Hinata of course was being able to help a larger group of people.

Neji ruled the clan still largely independently, but now the partner of the clan leader had the ability to sit on the Hyuga Internal Advisory Council, and therefore she now consulted and influenced various strategies and decisions for the Hyuga on her own merits.

.

Hinata snapped out of her thoughts as she saw two blurs dressed in small white robes running at the corner of her eye. She turned determined towards them and marched forward.

"Hana! Haku, slow down! It's dinner time" she called out, but they had disappeared again by the time she rounded the corner of the corridor. With a deep sigh she went looking for Neji. He was often the only person that could wrangle those two in for dinner.

She didn't have to go very far to find her eldest son and husband.

As she had known, they were in the study. Neji was going over a pile of work and Hiashi was seated in a mini desk across from his father studying. They had brought in an additional desk to Neji's study at Hiashi's insistence.

It would have been super adorable if it wasn't also concerning that her son was showing signs of being a workaholic at a young age. With Hiashi they had to make a concentrated effort to make sure he stepped out of the house (or the academy) from time to time to have an opportunity to enjoy his childhood.

Neji looked up noticing her presence immediately despite how quiet she had been. They smiled at each other, and Hinata walked in first over to Hiashi to give him a kiss on the head.

Her son wrapped his arms around her waist, "Hi Okaasan" he said far too properly and she ruffled his hair. They stood in an embrace for a few seconds as she asked him about how his studying was going. After their chat, Hinata asked Hiashi to go wash up for dinner and of course he promptly obeyed her. It made her heart hurt to see how earnest and serious he was.

They watched their eldest walk out in silence for a few seconds and Hinata walked over to stand next to Neji, bending down to give him a quick kiss.

"He is too serious," she murmured.

"I think he is just fine, you need to stop worrying so much" Neji replied back, continuing to look in the direction Hiashi had left in. "He has enough siblings to keep him in check over the years, or…. are you interested in giving him one more perhaps?", he asked grabbing her around the waist and pulling her into his lap.

"Stop" she laughed trying to push him away and tried to be stern so that he wouldn't distract her. "I think we have our hands full as it is. Speaking of which you have to go roundup Haku and Hana".

Neji's face fell at her words and he rested his forehead against hers. "Those two are going to be the death of me, or at the very least give me premature grey hair".

She patted his back reassuringly, despite having similar worries herself.

"How is Haku and Hana's training going?" she murmured while resting her head on Neji's shoulder.

"Well according to our dads, what they lack in discipline and etiquette they make up for in skill and passion. They are simultaneously delighted and horrified by our twins, speaking of which we will have to get Hira up for training soon too" he said absently while playing with her hair.

"My baby?" she exclaimed while pulling back.

"They won't stay our babies forever Nata" he gently reminded her despite her stricken look. Then they heard a loud crash outside.

Neji and Hinata cringed at the sound looking at each other nervously knowing which of their children was most likely responsible.

"Alright, alright I'm going," Neji said with one last kiss before they got up.

After a chaotic dinner they moved on to wrangle their children to bed (which consisted of bath time, bedtime stories and perhaps even a song or two). Finally after putting all four to bed, Neji and Hinata were alone in their own room winding down to sleep.

Neji lay on the bed reading a book, while Hinata sat in front of the vanity doing her night time skin care routine, which consisted of applying various creams, toners and serums.

She observed her husband silently through the mirror for a few seconds before speaking, "Do you ever think it's strange that some days we barely get to see each other? I mean in between the work, the kids and everything else sometimes a whole day passes by?" she asked curiously as she moved onto brushing her hair.

Neji paused in his reading and slowly looked up at her. He looked contemplative for a few seconds before closing the book.

"I think we have the best family in the world, Hinata… and the best jobs. Yes we are quite busy day to day but… at the end of the day we always end up finding each other... like this. And the bedtime with the children and this time with you even if it's a small amount in the morning and at night, are my favourite parts of each day. You five are the most important things in the world to me...you make everything else worthwhile."

Hinata sighed feeling those words deep in her heart and melted into a puddle even though they've been together for over 10 years now. She carefully put down the hair brush and walked towards the bed as Neji extended his hand and brought her into the circle of his arms.

She hmm'ed in satisfaction as she laid next to him snuggling and inhaling the scent that she loved so much.

Neji tightened his grip on her and dropped a kiss on to the crown of her head.

"I love you Nata".

"I love you too" she whispered as she moved up to kiss him.
