STAR SAPPHIRE

CAROL

Carol's life had gone down hill after Hal vanished. She blamed him, part of her still cared about him, and another part hated him. She wound up becoming a flight instructor for the Airforce and eventually she was discharged. Carol got work at a laundry mat. She got two days off and worked four days a week. When she couldn't pay her rent the manager made an indecent proposal. She kicked him in the nuts and left in her car.

For three weeks she lived in her car saving her money. Then one day she arrives to open the Laundry Mat. "Carol Ferris?"

"Whose asking?"

"You can call me Zarah."

She frowns, "With a Z?"

"Yes…I have a job for you would you be interested?"

"What kind of job."

"In involves flying among other things. But you must come with me now."

"I have wait until my coworker arrives to turn in the keys. Is that acceptable?" They have to wait an hour. Then Zarah drives Carol into the desert. "You're not about to murder me are you or sell me into sex slavery?"

Zarah ignores the question and presses the radio dial button. A ship appears and Carol gasps as they drive up a ramp into the ship. A hologram melts from Zarah's body revealing an Alien.

"What the hell are you?"

"My name cannot be pronounced in your Terran Languages…I am a Zamaron." She gets out of the car which also has a hologram that melts to reveal a hover vehicle.

"What do you want from me?"

"Thousands of years ago we Zamarons separated ourselves from others of our race. The others became the Guardians…We Zamarons became a female dominated society. We were the first race…I was sent to test different species around the Galaxy to see if they would merge with the Sapphire matrix crystal. I have been here for two thousand years studying you humans…There is a seventy percent probability that a merge will be successful."

"A merge?"

"You will gain the ability to fly among other things."

Carol agrees, but the process is painful and when it is done she is wearing a pink and black uniform and an elaborate mask. "The merge was a success…Star Sapphire."

A few days later she flies over Coastal City and lands by a bank. She points her hand at the bank wall and cuts a hole into it with a beam of pink energy. She takes her time taking the money as the sirens echo. The Police show up, "Put your hands up and surrender Meta-Human!"

"I am no Meta-Human." She replies blasting the cop. She flies out of the bank and blows up several cars before flying away. As she flies off the rest of the cops shoot at her, but the bullets bounce off the force field hugging her body. Resuming her identity as Carol Ferris she buys a car, rents a penthouse apartment and buys some new clothes.

The Zamaron who gave Carol her powers left after a successful merging. While in Paris Carol is sitting outside at a café when a woman flies overhead. Out of curiosity she becomes Star Sapphire and flies after the woman. The White-haired woman stops and turns, "Eh'Crep im iats odneuges annod?"

She wears a black suit with a red glyph inside a white diamond shape on her chest and a red belt. "I understand you…" Carol says, "You are speaking Kryptonian." She replies in shock. Merging with the star sapphire had also given her the ability to understand alien languages. "Im omaich C'aros…" She replies in Kryptonian.

"Do not follow me human." She tries to read the woman's mind. "You dare mind touch me human! Die!" From her mind she learns that the woman's name is Nala. Nala had been imprisoned with Genral Zod and the other Kryptonian criminals in the Phantom Zone. They had been freed by Lex Luthor.

Nala's eyes glow and she blasts Carol with her heat vision. The beams have no affect on her body shield. Star blasts Nala and she goes flying into a building that collapses on impact. She rises out of the debris, picks up a car, and throws it at Star, while people are running and screaming.

HAL JORDAN

Hal and Shiera are eating their breakfast when a man by the name of General Zod appears on the television. "Greetings humans…I am General Zod…Your new ruler and Emperor of the Earth." Hal looks at his ring and dawns his Green Lantern uniform. Shiera dawns her Thanagarian armor. Zod is standing in front of the White House making his speech. The Camera turns up as Superman appears.

"Hello General…My name is Kal of House El."

"Come to me son of Jor-El kneel before Zod!"

A big man flies at Superman, but he leans to the side, grabs his foot and spins him around he throws him and he goes flying towards the Washington Monument. It breaks in half when he hits it. The other four Kryptonians fly at him chasing Superman through the air. Hal is about to go help, but his ring warns him of something else. He flies to Paris where two women are fighting. With his ring he places both in a bubble of energy.

"You are no fun." Shiera says.

Both women blast the bubble from inside and breaks Hal's hold over them. "More inferior humans! A Green Lantern and what is this? A Thanagarian whore."

"Who you calling whore bitch?" Shiera is able to understand and reply because of the universal translator. Shiera throws her Mace and Nala bats it aside as if it were a nat. Then she attacks with her heat vision, but Shiera dodges the eye beams with a display of aerial acrobatics.

Hal makes a giant fist of energy and punches Nala who hits the ground cracking it. Then he opens a small wormhole to the what is left of Krypton, he pulls a rock out the size of a football. "Shiera use this!" He says kinetically throwing the rock at her.

"A green rock?"

"Trust me do it!"

He looks for the other woman who left after escaping the bubble. He uses his ring to follow her aura trail. Meanwhile Shiera throws the green rock at Nala. She falls to her knees and hands, then her stomach. "What the hell?" She flies down and kicks the woman over. She seems to be sick from the rock, there are green veins on her skin, her eyes are also green and she seems to be dying."

"Please help me.."

Hal's ring leads him to Carol who is in normal clothes, "Carol!"

She mind touches him, "Hal! You're the Green Lantern?"

"And you were that woman fighting the Kryptonian…What happened to you?"

She throws her hand out blasting him, but at the last minute his ring erects his body shield. He hits the wall smashing through it. When he looks up Carol is dressed in pink and black. "I am Star Sapphire now!"

"Haaa!" Shiera yells striking her from behind. Shiera's mace disrupts Star's body shield. As Star stumbles Shiera punches her in the face knocking her out.

"Shiera." He looks around, "Where is the Kryptonian?"

"You're welcome."

Hal is about to scoop up Carol or Star as she now calls herself when suddenly she starts glowing and vanishes. When they get back to where Shiera left the Kryptonian, she and the rock are gone. "Dammit!"

"What was that rock anyway?"

He sighs, "Kryptonians have a dense molecular structure that absorbs radiation from yellow stars. It gives them their powers…The rock I gave you is called Kryptonite."

"Superman has a weakness?"

"Yes and someone just took the rock." He says holding his ring hand out.

"What are you doing?"

"Trying to locate the Kryptonite. Damn I can't find it."

By the time they make it back to the United States, Superman has defeated the other Kryptonians and has sent then back to the Phantom zone.
