Keith groaned slightly. "Really? Do we have to watch this?" He gestured to the TV show presently on.
"Why do you offend me so? There is nothing wrong with the Real Housewives! It's totally amusing." Lance grinned and wiggled his eyebrows. "Totally some fun trash to watch right now."
Keith rolled his eyes. He stood up from the couch. "Yeah, but not the kind of trash I'm into." He walked towards the stairs. "You can enjoy that all to yourself."
Lance pouted slightly. "Why can't I get any of you to watch this with me? I mean Shiro will sometimes…!"
Keith opened his mouth and then quickly shut it. He had a feeling Lance knew Shiro was likely just pacifying him. Shiro hadn't changed in that regard. Speaking of Shiro, he had seen him and Matt go up the stairs some time ago. He tilted his head as he walked the stairs. He hated how he found himself so curious as to what they were doing. But if they were doing something in private, that wasn't any of his business.
"Still possessive of Takashi eh?"
Keith tensed for a split second before relaxing. "Really Kuron?" He glanced over the railing at the top of the stairs. Lance must have not heard the ghost as the guy was still watching his reality tv.
"Just wanted to see if I could spook you. I'll take you tensing as totally a somewhat victory." Kuron smirked at Keith. "But I can tell you what they are doing if you want."
Keith raised an eyebrow before sighing. "No, it's fine. Shiro shouldn't have to worry about people eavesdropping on him." He turned his head and glared at Kuron. The ghost beside him held only the faintest hints of transparency. If he didn't know any better, he might have thought Kuron really was standing there. But he knew better now that Kuron was only a lingering specter.
Kuron shrugged his shoulders. "I would normally say whatever you say, but I think this is something you should know about."
"Huh?" Keith asked right before he saw Kuron walking down the hallway, briefly standing in front of Pidge's room before moving towards Adam's old room. He snorted and followed after the ghost. "And what would that be then?"
"About how I died."
Keith stopped in his tracks. He stared at Kuron and looked over his body. The ghost didn't have any gruesome injuries. Not like the ghosts he had seen in Himuro mansion with blood, snapped necks, and missing parts. But as he had an actual moment to focus on Kuron, he thought he did see evidence of bruising around Kuron's neck. He stepped closer and lifted his hand up.
His fingers slipped through Kuron's neck. He barely registered the chill.
"Geez. That never does feel quite right." Kuron took a step back and rubbed at his neck. "Then again, guess it would be hard to explain to someone solid like yourself huh?" He frowned just for the briefest of moments before shaking his head. "But you are right. You always were pretty observant. Then again, when you hate people, what else can ya do but observe?"
Keith huffed softly. "There are activities you can do besides staring at people. Besides, that makes me sound like a creeper."
Kuron laughed loudly. "Guess it does, doesn't it? But never did bother me. Didn't mind people watching since it meant less people I wanted to punch in the face."
Keith couldn't help but sport a small smile at that. "Yeah, you always did have a temper." He smiled a bit more before focusing his gaze once more on the faint bruise. "…But I don't think it was your temper that caused Shiro to strangle you, right?"
The two looked at each other. He tensed slightly at the silence now between them. Why wasn't Kuron just blurting out the answer? He narrowed his eyes, watching Kuron rub at his temple. "You actually keeping a vow of secrecy now?" He crossed his arms over his chest. "You used to be so quick to rat Shiro out when he did something bad." At hearing Kuron slightly chuckle, he knew he had to be on to something.
"Yeah. I just wasn't in the mood to hear it from him. He had asked me not to tell you anything." Kuron chuckled more. "Buuuttt, you two did say you would talk about your shit between the two of you." The ghost smirked. "So maybe I should wait until you are able to talk to him? After all, he's not the only one curious about your own shit."
Keith glared at him. "Really? A story for a story so to speak?" He rolled his eyes. "It's not like I will suddenly say I won't talk about it to him if you tell me beforehand." He glanced at Pidge's door. "And I am going to ask him his perspective on things after this." He looked back at Kuron. "But I already know he killed you…what I don't know is why."
Kuron nodded and tapped his neck. "While I wish I could say he suddenly went crazy and decided I was just too good for this world, he kinda had to." He shrugged faintly. "Otherwise, that abyss would have fucked that area again and maybe even spread its malice further than the village confines. Then again, maybe if we weren't so time constrained…" He snorted faintly. "Eh. Contemplating what ifs just isn't my shick."
Keith looked down at the ground. He raised his hand up slightly, looking at his wrist. "Guess it's my shick sometimes." He clenched his hand and swallowed. "Because every time I think of if I had been more persuasive…if I had more time…maybe he would still be here." He trembled slightly. "Maybe I could have kept my father from dying."
He shivered, feeling something cold lingering on his shoulder. He glanced out of the corner of his eye at Kuron. "I'm just trying to say I get it."
"Yeah." Kuron removed his hand and sighed. "It's one of those maybe I got have gotten my ass unpossessed somehow or if he had some way to do it, I probably could have been spared. Cause it was the ghost of the last twin that demanded the ritual be completed. Well, and I guess kinda the abyss? That would make it sound like it had a fucking mind of its own though…weird to think about if you ask me."
He chuckled faintly. "But like I said, what ifs just aren't my thing." He frowned just slightly. "I guess you figured he was likely crying the whole time right? Begging for some other outcome?"
Keith looked down at his feet. "I'm sure he was. That's just Shiro for you. Whether you two liked to admit it or not, you two did give some damn about each other. Wanting to sometimes not literally strangely the other withstanding."
Kuron snorted and smirked. "Guess I'll give you props for your insight." He looked at Keith and tilted his head. "Though now I am curious what exactly happened to you. Will you mind me listening in when you tell Shiro?"
Keith opened his mouth but then heard Pidge's door open. He quickly turned and saw Shiro poking his head out the door. "Shiro."
"Keith." Shiro exited out of the room with Matt following behind him. "I thought I heard some people talking out in the hallway. Couldn't make out what was being said." Shiro tilted his head. "Who were you talking to?"
Keith looked over his shoulder and saw Kuron had disappeared. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Would you believe me if I said your brother?"
Shiro frowned slightly. "Well, maybe not some years ago. But after what I went through and what we're presently dealing with, yeah. I could believe it."
Keith nodded. "Think it is time we talked about what we said we would."
Shiro looked over at Matt. He smiled at his old friend. Matt smiled back before heading back towards the stairway. Only once Matt was gone, and Pidge's door shut did he return his focus to Keith. "I guess I can tell it again."
"Yeah, but you won't have to start from scratch. Kuron told me some things…" Keith noticed Shiro tense and a scowl form on his old friend's face. "Look I asked him to. I know that's not excuse, but it isn't like he just blurted it out."
"Really? I was expecting him to just spill all my dirty secrets." Shiro stopped scowling. "I still don't like him saying it like that. But, you're right. Guess I won't have to completely repeat myself."
"I do look forward to hearing your side of things though." Keith smiled warmly. "And maybe it will be good to get things off my chest too." He placed his hand on Shiro's shoulder. "Not like I've really told anyone in detail about what happened at Himuro Mansion."
Shiro smiled warmly back. "I do hope talking about it helps you."
Keith looked Shiro in the eye and squeezed his shoulder.
"If it's you, I know it will."
