Chapter 19: Morning
After last night, both woke up at 8 AM. While Baez was working on a case that was old, Danny went to pick up Sean from the sleepover.
"What's the connection here…" Baez wondered as Danny and Sean walked through the front door.
"Maria, we are back!" Danny yelled.
"Upstairs!" She yelled as Sean sat down and played video games, Danny went up to the bedroom only to see files spread around.
"Watch that." Baez said as she pointed at the picture and Danny walked around it.
"So what's this?" Danny asked.
"4 women dead, the gap is 2 years. All killed with different method." Baez answered.
"All with a different method? It isn't a serial killer then." Danny said.
"Bare with me. A calling card was left at the scenes, a rose with a card that says "I am sorry", it was placed on their chests." Baez said.
"Okay, go on. What's the connection?" Danny asked.
"All women were either early or late 20's and all attended the New York University." Baez said.
"A campus killer? You serious?" Danny asked with concern.
"Yep." Baez said.
"We gotta go to the proper channels with this." Danny said.
"All with a different method." Baez said.
"Yeah, alright I'll work the case with you." Danny smiled.
"Great, get your stuff we are heading to NYU." Baez said as she grabbed a file, put her gun in her holster and clipped her shield and Danny did the same.
"Alright let's go." Danny said.
After some time, they arrived at the NYU and went inside at the security desk.
"Detective Baez, this is Detective Reagan we are with the NYPD." Baez said as she showed the campus officer her shield.
"How can I help you, Detectives?" The Campus Officer answered.
"We need to speak with someone for student records from 2010 to 2016." Baez said.
"Sure thing, go down the hall and make a right there should be the records desk there." The campus officer said.
"Thank you." Baez said as Danny and herself walked to the records desk.
"Excuse me, Ma'am." Danny said as he showed his shield and continued "Detectives Reagan and Baez, NYPD."
"How can I help you?" The woman said.
"We need student records for Aria Freeman, Julia Shermar, Victoria Hastings and Elizabeth Short." Maria said.
"You got a warrant?" The woman asked.
"No but we do have a charge called Obstruction of Justice and Hindering Prosecution." Danny said.
"I'll be right back." The woman said, after some time she brought back some files "There you go, those are the copies you can have em."
"Alright thank you." Baez said as she took the files and both of them drove off to their house. After they arrived, they started working in the bedroom and started working their theories.
"Look at this." Baez said turning to Danny and giving him the file.
"What is it?" Danny asked as he took the file.
"Look at the teacher on all of their majors." Baez said, pointing at a name.
"Alex Withmour. That's our connection." Danny said and continued "Good work, let's see what we can find." He smiled.
