Chapter 19... gosh...
SO if you haven't seen my recently updated profile then you should know I was very sick for a little bit so thats why this took so long... This chapter I felt was really rushed so if you also think that, then tell me. Nightfur, Sandstorm, its dead... its gone, reduced to atoms. Anyways, if a chapter is taking longer than expected just check my profile, I'll probably have said something about it.
Nightstorm padded through the forest with Sunfur and Featherheart, the sun beating down on his pelt. He was on the sunhigh border patrol, and the patrol was returning to camp. "So, Nightstorm," said Sunfur, "Make sure you're on high alert, we don't know when IceClan will atack."
Nightstorm nodded. He didn't want to start a conversation out of nowhere, but he wanted to discuss something on his mind. "I wish Addertail would just give up on trying to get IceClan to hand over Stonepelt, I doubt he's an 'imposter'."
Featherheart shrugged. "I think they would attack anyways, with or without the 'Streamheart situation'. The Clans don't want a cat like Addertail to try to expose them, he shows just about how broken the system really is."
Nightstorm agreed with that. "I think I scent some prey over there," he said, pointing his head to a bush in front of them, "I'm gonna check it out."
Sunfur looked doubtful. "Don't you think it's a bad idea to be alone right now?"
"Well, if we are the weird group of cats the Clans were worried about, then there is no reason to be afraid of our own territory," replied Nightstorm ominously.
Featherheart sighed. "I suppose you're right, Nightstorm, the other Clans wouldn't attack defenseless warriors, which is why we have the advantage."
Nightstorm nodded. "Exactly. The other Clans are vulnerable because they have 'honor' or whatever, so we can just take advantage of that."
Featherheart didn't seem to be sure about that. "Is it really right to abandon the Clans for, really, no reason?
Sunfur now spoke. "There is a reason Featherheart. The Clans have always been corrupt, and all they want to do is stop cats like Addertail from gaining power. I agree with Nightstorm that the Clans are very one-sided."
Nightstorm waved his tail and then padded into the trees away from the other two cats. Once he got to a small pool he enjoyed going too, he dug his claws into the ground to try and ease his mind. He only had one thought for the last few days. It's over, you moved on... There is nothing left of her.
Another voice rang out in his head. Do you really believe that, Nightstorm? You know what happened... Every cat knows… If StarClan isn't here, she's trapped somewhere, forever, you can never move on. You act as if you don't remember, like it never happened. Accept it.
Nightstorm covered his ears with his paws and lied on the ground. Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone… I have to get StarClan back.
"You're finally back, Nightstorm," said Mintbreeze.
Nightstorm nodded to her. "I think I should speak to Addertail," he meowed.
Nightstorm peered over Mintbreeze's shoulder to spot Snakefang speaking to Addertail, clearly the former deputy didn't care much for a Clan so broken apart it was only made up of two cats, one that relied on another Clan's support.
"Before you do," replied Mintbreeze, "you should end the thing between you and Sandfur… she clearly doesn't see you're not interested, and you should get it over with before it becomes a huge deal."
Nighstorm sighed. He didn't really want to talk to her about that, it would just make anything else between them awkward, but he knew he should. "Fine, you're right, as usual… I'll go talk to her."
"Er, hey, Sandfur," said Nightstorm to the she-cat while she ate a squirrel.
"What is it, Nightstorm?" she asked.
"Um…"
"Are you alright, you seem worried or something."
"Listen… I know you think we're… er… Oh, StarClan… mates…"
Sandfur now looked confused. Nightstorm continued. "We're not. Just, I want to be friends, that's it, I don't like you like that."
Nightstorm cringed. I just want this to be over. A flash of anger shown in Sandfur's eyes. "What do you mean? You like your other friend, not me?"
"Well her name is Mintbreeze, for starters."
Sandfur wasn't amused by his joke. "Mintbreeze, right."
Nightstorm sighed. "I don't want it to be awkward or anything, I just know I should make sure you know the truth before it becomes a big deal."
"Well you should've done something sooner!" snapped Sandfur, before stalking off to be alone.
Nighstorm felt a heavy weight in his stomach. Everything just got worse. "She-cats, huh?" Nightstorm heard Firepelt talking to him from his right.
"I never thought she wanted to be mates, y'know," replied Nightstorm sadly.
"I always thought you two seemed like the perfect couple, I don't know who else went after you like that," said Firepelt, still gazing at Sandfur.
A voice rang out behind Nightstorm, causing both him and Firepelt to spin around to see where it was coming from.
Tinystorm collapsed onto the ground at the camp entrance, panting hard. He opened his jaws to speak. "IceClan attacked our patrol," he gasped, "We need more warriors."
Addertail rushed out to where Tinystorm was. "Snakefang, send our… best fighters out to deal with IceClan, but hurry."
Snakefang nodded in response and gathered a few Clan cats Nightstorm didn't know very well who rushed off out of camp instantly. Firepelt leaned into Nightstorm's ear. "The IceClan cats are in the paws of StarClan now, I heard Addertail's 'original' followers, the ones he sent, are really good at combat."
Nightstorm wondered if he could be considered one of Addertail's original followers. I am good at fighting, I took out an entire patrol by myself, and I was by his side for moons.
Nightstorm realized he hadn't thought of that patrol for a long time… If I moved on from that so easily, why not anything else?
"Addertail," Nightstorm asked the medicine cat, who was lying in the sun outside of his den.
"What do you need now?"
"I want to try and have visions since they haven't been appearing lately. What would be the best way?"
"They haven't been appearing to you? I thought you were having visions after you stopped consuming those poppy seeds."
"No, I haven't."
"Alright, I suppose… Try and ease your mind, leave behind all your regrets, just be in the moment and accept where you are."
Nightstorm tilted his head. What does that even mean? "I'll try it… I have been meaning to ask you…" Nightstorm trailed off.
"Just get it over with," said Addertail.
"Who really is my father? I can't figure it out, no cat seems to want to tell me, it's very frustrating."
Addertail sighed. "A rogue, I think, your mother had kits with him, though I never met him, and she left him shortly afterward for a cat named Bramblescar… otherwise, I have no idea."
Nightstorm froze. If this came from both Stonepelt and Addertail then surely it must be true?
"Right… I'll be heading off to… relax… I guess," said Nightstorm before heading out of the den.
When he got back outside he saw a few injured cats returning from the battle. "Did you defeat the IceClan warriors?" asked Snakefang, who had been waiting near the entrance.
"Even better, most of them are dead," replied one of the cats, Leaffall, "It took us hardly any time at all to defeat them, they stood no chance."
So, FireClan vs the world, huh... I can't wait for the final battle, with FireClan fighting every other Clan, its gonna be great... just... gotta... get there...
This chapter was horrendous to write. I already hate writing about 'romance' and cringe and stuff like this so yeah I did not like this chapter, I'm just gonna pretend like it never existed. Nightstorm's cringe was based off of mine while writing this.
