Chapter 18: Jason, you're a bad boy.

Jason's P.O.V

"So, ummm..what did you need to-" he started, interrupting the uncomfortable silence that had settled between them. Well, it wasn't everyday that blonde, scary, serial killer girls walked through your door looking more murderous than Zeus himself.

"I know, Jason," she breathed, looking up at him.

She..knows? Know what? A pang of realization hit him and he realized..He shook his head and told himself, No way. There is NO way she could know..

But as he looked up at her, he realized that she knew. She knew that he was the Waffle Thief.

And he was in a lot of trouble.

"K-know what?" he stalled, trying to look innocent.

Annabeth glared at him. "Your dumb play won't work on me, Grace. I know exactly what's been going on in this room, you can't hide it from me."

Jason sighed. He gave up. There was no way he could fool Annabeth any longer. It wasn't even worth a try, but still..

He scowled and crossed his arms over his chest. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

She rolled her eyes. "Say that to the Holy Waffle in your room!"

Jason's heart did a leap. "Are you-are you accusing me of being the Waffle Thief?" he sputtered.

"Yes, yes I am," she said calmly, looking at him as if daring him to disagree. "You know it's true. If you just come out with it now the consequences will be less severe."

"The Holy Waffle is NOT in my room, and definitely not inside my suitcase!" Jason defended.

Annabeth raised her eyebrows. "I never said anything about suitcases."

Jason mentally slapped himself. Ugh! You're so stupid Jason, why did you say that?

Jason laughed nervously and feverishly began to talk fast. "What I meant was-haha-umm, I-"

"Tell me, Jason," she said, her voice sounding murderous. "Where were you the night Zeus made his announcement?"

She couldn't possibly know..

"I-I was visiting Camp Jupiter, just like I told you. And Percy," she stuttered.

"Hmm, really?" she said grimly. "Then things don't add up?"

"What do you mean?"

"This isn't the first time I've suspected you, Jason."

"What's that supposed to mean?!" Sometimes he wished Annabeth wasn't so smart. And that she would just get to the point.

"I talked to Reyna when we were at Camp Jupiter," she said coldly, staring him in the eye. "And she said that she didn't even see you that night. In fact, she told me that the last time you visited was two months ago. So those "weekly visits" that you claimed to be true were really fake. The question is, what were you doing on those nights?"

Jason was speechless. Dang, this girl was smart. There was no point trying now.

"You don't have enough proof!" he said lamely.

"I don't?" she said calmly. "Okay, then. Let's start from the top. When I first analyzed the evidence before the quest-"

"You did what?!"

"It's what smart people do," she rolled her eyes. "You wouldn't know. Anyways, when I was writing down some things, I recorded the dates of events. Percy had his dream on Friday, which means that the Waffle was stolen the day before, Thursday night. On Thursday night, I noted down that you were at Camp Jupiter. I was immediately on to you from that time onwards. I've literally suspected you ever since. And also, your suitcase is humongous."

Oh good lord..this girl was too good.

"You can't prove anything," he said coolly.

"Stop it, Jason. I don't know why you're doing this, but if you don't own up to it, I'm telling everyone," she threatened.

He sighed. No one could know he was the Waffle Thief. No. No!

And he'd better make sure the one person who knew wasn't going to spill it. Which..only left him one choice.

He sighed. "I'm really sorry about this Annabeth. I didn't want to do this. But you've left me no choice."

She scowled and stepped away from him. "Don't you dare do anything! And that means you admit that you're the Waffle Thief."

Jason snorted. "Of course I am. And you don't get to tell me what to do-"

"What?" she spat. "It's YOUR fault we're on this quest-"

He smiled sadly. "Goodbye, Annabeth." He really, really, felt bad for doing this. But what choice did he have?

Percy's P.O.V

What was Annabeth thinking?

Seriously, accusing JASON? Why would JASON do anything bad? He was the best bro Percy could ask for, and there was no way in hell that he would steal a waffle.

He angrily kicked a wall, thinking of all the things he and Annabeth had yelled at each other. He tried to convince himself that he was doing the right thing. Percy stubbornly refused to believe anything Annabeth said from this point.

I'm glad we broke up! His mind screamed to himself. But Percy couldn't help but notice that he sounded more like he was trying to convince himself. He shook his head wildly to get Annabeth out of his mind, but his mind kept darting back to her.

Stupid! Percy cursed himself. Stop thinking about it!

But the more he thought about it, the more he missed Annabeth. Some battles aren't worth fighting. And even if he was right and Annabeth was wrong..he could forgive her, right?

Yes. Yes, he could definitely do that. He nodded confidently. As long as he knew that it was HER mistake, it didn't really matter.

He sighed and made his way out the door, walking over to Piper and Annabeth's dorm. He knocked on the door and tapped his foot as he waited for someone to answer.

When the door finally flung open, Piper was standing in the doorway. She looked surprised to see Percy. "Oh, hey Percy!"

"Hey," he weakly smiled. "Is Annabeth around? I can come back later if she's not-"

"No, sorry," she shook her head. "She's not here. I actually have no idea where she is. Check in the dining hall or something."

"Oh.." he tried not to sound disappointed. "Okay then. Thanks anyways, Piper."

She smiled and closed the door. He sighed. Now it was up to him to go find her.

Annabeth's P.O.V

Annabeth had a list of things that she really wanted to do after all this was over.

Getting zapped by lighting and being thrown off a floating ship was NOT one of them.

She screamed random curses at the air. She couldn't believe what was happening. Jason had gone WAY too far.

She recalled what had happened grimly.

"I'm sorry about this!" he had apologized.

"W-what-"

Then he'd zapped her with lightning to distract her, rushed her to the balcony of his dorm, and thrown her off the ship.

LIKE SERIOUSLY, WHO DOES THAT?

THROWING YOUR BEST FRIEND'S GIRLFRIEND OFF YOUR SHIP IS NOT WHAT NORMAL PEOPLE DO.

"JASONNN! YOU CAN'T JUST THROW ME OFF A SHIP!" she had screamed desperately as she fell. Jason's face was getting farther and farther away and she plummeted to her death.

"I just did!" His face disappeared from view. That was the last thing she heard from him. And to think she was mad at PERCY.

Percy..her heart did a leap. If she died..the last things she would have said to Percy were the most horrible things she had ever said to anyone. She swallowed the lump in her throat.

Jason's P.O.V

Jason breathed a sigh of relief. Now that he had taken care of Annabeth, there was only one thing left to do..

He beamed as his eyes moved to the corner of his closet. Waffle time!

Percy's P.O.V

Percy had searched all over the ship. Where could that girl possibly be?

Maybe she was so mad at me that she jumped off the ship..he joked to himself. Then he mentally chided himself, telling himself not to think like that.

He then realized that he was in front of Jason's door. There was no way she was in JASON'S room. After everything she'd said about him, she would never go in there.

He gasped. Unless..it was to accuse him!

He pounded his fist on the door and called, "JASON?!"

Jason's P.O.V

Jason jumped, startled. He groaned. WHY were people all always interrupting him, ugh!

Couldn't a guy enjoy a waffle in peace?

He shoved everything back in his closet and rushed to the door, opening it and smiling at Percy, a fake smile plastered across his face.

"Hey, bro!"

"What's up bro?"

"Is Annabeth in here, bro?"

Jason almost screamed but resisted it in the end. His heart was beating faster by the second. He wants to know if I've seen Annabeth..WHAT DO I SAY?, he thought desperately, fumbling for an excuse. She couldn't exactly be all chill and be like, "Bro, I threw your girlfriend off the ship because she finally figured out what all of us have been wanting to know for a week!"

Percy raised his eyebrows. "Earth to Jason!"

Jason snapped out of his thoughts. "Huh?! Oh. Uhh, about Annabeth. See, bro.."

He was panicking now, his heart thumping loudly in his ears. He sighed. He was making some bad choices today…

"Look, Percy," he sighed, trying to sound real.

At the last second, he blurted out the first thing he could find. "Annabeth is..dead?"

I know I shouldn't be laughing. But for some reason, the idea of Jason throwing Annabeth off a ship makes me burst into laughter. Its just so weird an funny lol.
