Chapter twenty: A New Face and an Old One
(Chris pov.)
I waited for Jack in the stable as the horses were watered and feed.
"Ready?" He asked me as he walked in.
I nodded as we climbed up on them and road our way out of the casino into the city. We had to get Dodo and the rest of the resistance together. And Jack, had to find caterpillar. I also had one other person I had to warn.
Once we got there, Jack was off to do his thing.
I reached the library where an "old woman" hid in the fiction section.
"He's safe. But he's in a lot of trouble. You may need to come out if he's to understand." I told her.
The lady stood off the floor, her dark cloak falling off of her skinny little body. Blonde hair and a yellow dress, Maybell. "When do we leave?"
"When Jack comes back. Hopefully, Hatter may think of a better way to get the ring out of Wonderland. But we still need Alice. If he comes to his senses on the resistance, then Jack and I will go get Alice and take her to Caterpillar." I explained to her.
"I understand. But what about..."
"Dodo will be dealt with. I heard about how he threatened her life. And his own daughter did. She's going to deal with him personally when this is all over." I told her.
"She is pretty...strict."
"It's how she was raised. Caterpillar was a better father then he will ever be." I said.
Maybell nodded. "I'll go. But Lindsey, she won't be going."
"No. This is Alice and just her. Jack said it's best to keep her out of it." I said. While I disagree with him on that, I can't disobey the future king and the one person I trust the most. "I wish we could have saved Mark. And he and David wouldn't..."
"I know." Maybell said. "What's done is done."
(? pov.)
I walked into the room with a grin on my face.
"My daughter! What brings you back here?" My mother asked me.
"Queen." I bowed first. "I heard about dear brother Jack. I believe he is part of this...resistance you try to fight. And this Alice...She's not-"
"No!" My mother shouts. "Thank heavens she's not. Thank you, my dear Alicia."
I am the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. Alicia Missy Heart. Jack's older sister. While he is supposed to take the throne, this is my chance to change all that.
"So, I hear you've caught another special...case." I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I have been searching far and wide for the princess, but no such luck. And nothing on this...leader and his little girl. But Maybell, she is still here and is...a case. How has keeping the Ana, here?" I asked.
"Cursed children. She has been helpful. But I believe she is helping your brother."
"Doesn't surprise me on bit mother. But this other girl, Lindsey. Tell me everything about her. Something seems so familiar about that name." I say.
And my mother tells me what she believes and what my father believes. If that's the case, "I wonder why Jack went all the way to the other side to fetch Alice?"
