The ride to Medlab was filled with tension. Talia was still upset with Michael. He had insisted on going with them.
Susan couldn't stand the two bickering. Her head was pounding from her constant crying.
"What the hell is going on between you two? I can't stand it, either shut up or I will go by myself and sort this out."
Susan's sudden outburst surprised the other people. With one last glare at Michael, Talia returned to Susan's side. She carefully placed her arm around the other woman's shoulders.
"I'm sorry Susan," she placed a hand on her cheek and felt her lean into her touch.
"I understand that Mr. Garabaldi can be a major pain in the ass, that got a chuckle out of the telepath. Let's just try to endure his presence just a little longer." Talia nodded her head.
Michael silently watched the exchanged between Susan and Talia. He felt a small surge of jealousy course through him. He knew better than this, he had to blame the stress of the last few days for his behavior. He thought he put this whole business to rest a long time ago.
The rest of the trip was made in silence
Dr. Stephen Franklin emerged from his office. He had been briefed by Michael about the situation. He slowly approached the two women.
"Susan I'm Dr. Franklin, I'm not sure you remember me but I'm your friend and I want to help you anyway that I can."
Susan looked at the doctor. He claimed to be her friend but her trust in doctors these days was nonexistent. She looked at Talia for some reassurance. "Will you go with me?" It was spoken so low Talia almost missed it.
Talia placed her hand on her cheek and she leaned into the touch. "Of course I will come with you. I will be here with you every step of the way." Both women followed the doctor to an exam room.
Susan made her way to the exam table and hopped up. Talia stood by her side and laid a comforting hand on her shoulder. Susan looked up at her and smiled. She was grateful that she had at least one person here that she could somewhat trust. She couldn't believe how things have changed in such a brief amount of time. Her whole life was in shambles and she had no idea what she was going to do.
"I wanted to thank you for coming with me. I really appreciate it." Talia smiled warmly at her words. She would do anything for this woman.
"Like I said before anything you need I will be here for you not matter what." Talia wanted to hug her and never let her go. She had to settle for the gentle squeeze to Susan's shoulder. She didn't want to spook her or make her uncomfortable. She couldn't imagine the turmoil that must be raging within her love's mind. She was hoping after the doctor's exam she could persuade Susan to come back to her quarters.
Dr. Franklin approached his patient and began running his tests.
