The Endeavor made good time and didn't encounter any more Decepticon ships on its way to Cybertron. When the crew finally reached Cybertron, they were promptly greeted by Ultra Magnus and the Elite guard. The Allspark pillars were returned to the Allspark and the missing protoforms were now considered accounted for. Concord was registered as an official Cybertronian colony and those who had decided to be Autobots were officially inducted. The only problem that remained was that two Allspark pillars were still missing.
The processor scans for the rest of Switch's group came back clean and the rest of the defense forces that had not already pledged to become Autobots chose to with the exception of Cascade. She made a deal with Optimus that she would assist against the Decepticons until the remaining Allspark pillars were recovered, but that she'd prefer to keep her neutral status to avoid falling under the control of certain medics or scientists. While Optimus was unhappy that she viewed some of his mechs unfavorably, he understood and accepted her proposal.
After several weeks on Cybertron, the Autobots once again headed back out to search for the pillars. Jazz had gotten some information that one of the pillars was located on a small deserted planet. When the Endeavor arrived, they encountered a massive amount of Decepticons and this resulted in an intense battle. For many of the Autobots this was the first time they had seen the defense forces fighting so savagely. Cascade had engaged both sets of over armor leaving her towering over most of the enemy. When she wasn't engaging them head on, she took out the ones beside her with her deadly wings and she did all this before she even took to the air. The femme flyers and FireSky led by Jetfire knocked their opponents from the sky and rained down fire on the Decepticons below. Hyperfall had welcomed UV, Charger, Sunburn and Data to his team. Data and Pivot did most of the coordination while watching each other's backs. Charger, Sunburn and Data were informally called the power up crew because they could charge their comrade's weapons and make them temporarily more powerful. Stealth had gone solo and was training with Mirage to infiltrate the Decepticons and sneak behind enemy lines.
Cascade only needed to connect to her battle computer for a moment to know that they were going to lose. The Decepticons out numbered them five to one and they weren't making any headway onto the other side. "Prowl, it will sacrifice my over armor," said Cascade over the comm. "But I can greatly reduce their numbers from the air. We won't win this battle otherwise."
"Do it," commanded Prowl.
"Warn the others," she said sending him the predicted damage zones. Cascade reached into her subspace and pulled out the magnetic bombs she'd gotten from Mercury. She quickly attached them to her outer armor and then separated from her largest over armor launching it toward the ground as she flew over the Decepticons. She repeated the procedure with the medium over armor and launched that as well. The result was very much like Land Fall, one of the relics from the simulation. The two armors crashed into the Decepticon forces on the ground and exploded taking out vast swaths of the enemy.
Hyperfall called for her and she joined him and his group that had already formed up into a combiner. She pulled her oversized cannon from subspace and integrated with the combiner. The cannon fired three times vaporizing any Decepticons that got in the path of the beam. Cascade's spark flickered after the third shot and she immediately subspaced her cannon to avoid further damage. While the damage from firing the cannon in combiner mode spread out the stress on all their systems, she still took more of the brunt since it was directly connected. It didn't matter though because the enemy count was lowered enough and the Autobots were able to claim victory. They were disappointed however that they didn't find a pillar there, but at least the Decepticon forces were greatly reduced.
Cascade immediately helped with the injured Autobots on the field. When she was finished with that, she headed further out onto the field and started scavenging for parts. Hyperfall and his group ferried the useable parts back onto the ship while the flyers kept watch from the air. Hyperfall brought another batch of weapons to Ironhide. "Cascade said you can distribute these to whoever needs them," said Hyperfall.
"Where is she?" asked Ironhide.
"Still scavenging as usual," said Hyperfall.
"We need to keep a closer eye on her now that she doesn't have her additional armor," said Ironhide.
"Agreed," said Hyperfall.
Cascade moved to another quadrant of the battlefield and continued scavenging when she felt different optics on her. She looked up to see Ultra Magnus standing nearby. Most of Hyperfall's team was gone so he must have switched with them so they could recharge. "You broke your blade, sir," said Cascade as she studied the mech.
"Pardon?" said Ultra Magnus his attention drawn to the small femme crouching on the ground.
"In battle," said Cascade straightening. "I saw you break your blade." She pulled a blade that was obviously too big for her from her subspace. "I no longer have my over armor so I'm too small to use it now. If you'd like, you can have them."
"Them?" repeated Ultra Magnus.
Cascade pulled a twin blade out of her subspace. "I often fought with two. I'd rather they get put to good use then take up unnecessary subspace."
Ultra Magnus accepted the blades from her and thanked her for them. Cascade went back to scavenging and finished several hours later. All the Autobots retreated back onto the ship and they soon headed out.
Cascade was frustrated because she didn't know what to do without her over armor. She wasn't a very effective combatant in her current state. Sure she did have her battle computer so she could strategize. There was also the med bay, but she was currently avoiding Ratchet. If he got wind that her spark had flickered because of the overuse of the cannon, he'd have her stuck in the med bay for ages while he ran unnecessary tests. Maybe special ops would take her in because of her smaller size. She cautiously headed to Wheeljack's lab to find him immersed in a project. He looked up when she walked in.
"Cascade, what brings you here?" asked Wheeljack in surprise.
"I lost my over armor in the battle," explained Cascade. "I need to construct one set at the very least or I won't be very effective in the next battle."
"Do you have specs for it?" asked Wheeljack.
Cascade handed him the data pad with her specs on it. "I've got most of the pieces to construct it, but I don't have the tools to do so."
"I'm sure I can help you with that," said Wheeljack. "I've got a few projects going right now, but if you gather all the pieces together, I can help you fabricate your armor."
"Thanks Wheeljack," said Cascade smiling.
"Sure thing youngling," said Wheeljack putting a hand on her head.
