"I better go first, who knows what you have in store.", I said, "I summon Sea Scale Amazoness, her effect instantly banishes herself, then since I have a Sea Scale banished I summon Priestess and with her effect I can revive Amazoness (ATK: 2600)"
"Yeah, but before you revive Amazoness, I Special Summon Chaos Hunter (ATK: 2500) by discarding a card, since you just Special Summoned something. While she is on the field, you cannot banish anything.", Naoki countered.
"That rules out Tidal Insight. And basically most of my deck. But Amazoness has more attack and she won't banish herself even if I were to summon her the regular way, so there is an out to that. And then there's another... ability.", I said.
"It would be foolish to fear just this one card.", Dusktopia reminded me, "fear that he has much more Intelligence than you could imagine. Only someone with Genius Intelligence would be able and even have pretend to be a fool."
"I'll end my turn and I won't give up and I don't fear either.", I said.
"Just out of curiosity, does that Action Field's secondary ability override Chaos Hunter?", Naoki asked.
"You mean the effect to banish useless cards at the end of the turn? My master would answer that.", I responded.
"Action Fields are cards in name only, they more like rules, they don't get destroyed by a field wipe, even though accel versions feel a need to clarify their Immunity. An anti-discard effect does not increase the hand size limit unless it says it does, so yes, you would still be punished for holding on to useless Action card."
"Then it seems, I've instinctively made the right choice not to collect one.", I said, since you can do almost nothing with cards that are banished face-down.
"My turn, draw. First, I revive the discarded Glow-up Bulb by milling one card, then I equip Chaos Hunter with Fairy Meteor Crush and attack Priestess, inflicting 1550 Points of damage.", Naoki said.
Chaos Hunter's Whip was surrounded with a dark Silver glow as it shattered Priestess with a single whipcrack, causing those pieced to cut me. (D.D. diver LP: 4000-2450)
"Argh, you're definetly not messing around.", I said.
"Then I set 2 cards and end my turn.", Naoki said.
"I summon another Amazoness, first I take out Chaos Hunter (Lonely Brave LP: 4000-3900) then your Bulb."
"Did you really think I just revived Glow Up Bulb to help me against direct attacks? Since I had the minimum of two monsters and you took out all of them, I can Special Summon Tualatin (ATK: 2800) Then I declare one Attribute, destroy all monsters on the field which have it and then you can't summon monsters with that Attribute until Tualatin is off the field. Of course I choose Water."
With a golden Radiant Shine, both Amazoness' dissapeared.
"So, did you splice in cards to counter me into your Coin Toss Machine Dragon deck or is this an anti-sea scales deck?", I asked.
"The latter. And on top of that I drew excellently.", Naoki answered, "so good in fact, that I probably would have played the other deck, had I known beforehand that I would be this lucky."
"Then I guess I'll pick up an Action Card after all.", I said.
Maybe I should have mentioned right away that we dueled in a cave area. Now, this didn't affect the Placement of Self-Insert's red platforms significantly, but somehow, one Action Card spawned below a stalagmite, causing it to break of the ground and look like it was placed on the ground for decorative purposes. I found Tidal Shiftings below it.
"Oh, and I do activate Imperial Iron Wall. Looking at your face, that card can't be used without banishing something else, can it not? But Self-Insert can get rid of it, maybe you can do something with that loophole. If only you had a few thousands of life points more.", he said smugly.
"I can still set two cards before I end my turn, and no that look was just General dissapointment at this Situation, Tidal Shiftings as a trap card can still be put onto the field. But I will risk another Action Card.", I said.
Near the 'exit' of this cave area, I saw a platform with an Action Card on it. I had a weird idea...
"Uh, why are you blowing on this platform?", Naoki asked politely.
"My exact thoughts. This is beyond silly-looking.", Dusktopia said.
"Take out the looking part. And use a stronger emphasis than beyond.", Naoki requested.
"You said something about me not hesitating with dishonorable means. If I managed to blow it off, I thought I could see whether the card was useful before Picking it up. If I still had a Monster-", I explained.
"Tualatin, you know what to do.", Naoki said.
Tualatin picked up a card and brought it to Naoki.
"It's whitened out before picking it up, not gonna risk it.", he said, letting Tualatin throw the card in my direction.
"I'll risk it and pick it up normally.", yes no more attempts at blowing (gosh that sounded wrong), "*sigh* it's useless and I end my turn. The Action Card is banished. (D.D. diver LP: 2450-1450)"
"I have a Feeling these were bluffs, but still no risks, I use my trap Setback, during the End Phase, all of your set cards will go straight back to your Hand."
"My turn, draw. I activate Premature Burial (Lonely Brave LP: 3900-3100) and for a measly fifth of my beginning LP, I revive Chaos Hunter."
I tried another Action Card, which was Blocking a small Trail of water and no, Action Cards don't seem to get soggy.
"I place Tidal Fate on the Field.", dammit, I guess CCE is my only Option.
"Now, I enter the battle Phase and-"
"I'm not gonna whine about loosing and you not being the idiot I expected t to be, but don't you want to hear something important?", I said, trying to stealthily summon my CCE aura.
"I swear, if this is a distraction while you try to get another Action Card, it's not gonna work, but yes, tell me.", Naoki said.
"I'm not actually from this word.", I said.
"What could the strategical purpose of this be?", Dusktopia wondered.
"The golden version of Playmaker's AI is actually someone who looks like Destiny Hero Dusktopia and can gather people from other world to influence what happens here. Those new friends, Yusaku and by extension, Playmaker has now, come from a different person with the same divine abilities.", I said.
"Ah, but Playmaker would have told me the same thing should I manage to join him and win his trust.", Naoki answered calmly.
"Uh, that's unexpected.", I said, "Does that mean you would have believed him?"
"A real-life Iseaki anime is certainly more fantastical and unrealistic than what I would have guessed the truth to be, but is the concept weirder? Not really. To make it short, no I'm not gonna go 'screw this madhouse'."
"Then there's no need to tell you more.", I said and ran for an Action Card, as Tualatin was about to strike me with a ray of light, so I mindlessly slammed the first card I got onto my duel disk, thinking that it be something that would summon something that was just about strong enough to block this strike.
It could even be unsearchable.
The Light disappeared and before myself I saw the Image of a quick-Play spell card that depicted several Sea Scales monsters being encircled by thunder type monsters.
"So, anyway, since 2800 is more damage than my 1450 Life Points can take, I use Despair Scale to summon a Sea Scales with less than 2800 ATK, regardless of what would prevent that summon. While it simply requires me to control only Sea Scales and Tidal cards or nothing at all, I could also have banished all I have if I wanted to, but I guess These spells and traps will stay and I'll defend myself with Sea Scales Ritual Dragon in defense mode.
I also can't use Despair Scale again in this duel."
"So, you drew an oddly specific card that protected you. That's kinda boring, but I'll end my turn.", Naoki said.
Said the guy with a deck only designed to counter mine. I decided to use some CCE again, after all this was a somewhat serious (even if the existence of stakes was questionable) duel, so it's a better training ground than Dusktopia's chamber. This time, I just wanted a big attack boost. I drew a Sea-Serpent Counterpart to Magnum Shield.
" I activate Neo Daedalus Edge, by equipping it to a Sea Serpent, its ATK and DEF is combined at all times. (ATK: 2000-5400 DEF: 3400-5400)
Obviously, I change Ritual Dragon to ATK mode an attack Chaos Hunter! Flood Flame!"
Not being a misnomer, Sea Scales Ritual Dragon spewed a huve wave of water that almost looked like blue Flames onto Tualatin, drowning, boiling and then burning her. (Lonely Brave LP: 3100-500)
"And with that simple move my turn is over once more.", I said.
"So you have a shining light that allows you to draw good cards. Looks like you've given up on chasing me away with unbelievable craziness. But even if you can prove this crazy story to me, I will assist Playmaker!", Naoki declared.
"Why didn't you earlier? What made the difference? Why did you hide your skill in the first place?", even though so far, he is only someone very lucky with a specific anti-deck, though that last part maybe requires at least a bit of Intelligence. Also, I definetly wasn't in denial about maybe loosing to Naoki.
"Why would I tell you? Your confusion is of more use to me.", Naoki answered, "Back to my turn. My luck still continuing, I activate Spell-Shattering Arrow, destroying Tidal Fate and Neo Daedalus Edge and inflicting a total of 1000 Points of damage to you. (D.D. diver LP: 1450-450)"
"I still have CCE, which is the power's 'official' name, and I'll use it on another Action card.", I said, Jumping around between several platforms to find another one.
"But isn't it cheating to use something like this?", Naoki asked.
"I activate the effect of Sea Scales Saver, she can use herself and monsters on my field as Link Material, If I have no banished Sea Scales. With Ritual Dragon, my set Serenity and Herself I summon Destroyer.", I said, not caring about his words.
"I change Chaos Hunter to defense mode and set two cards. So you have no answer to this?"
"Playmaker used the power himself and I managed to defeat him without it. What do you think about it now? Blue Angel or Aoi Zaizen also has access to it. I draw again, and save energy by creating a needlesly specific card."
"I'm not gonna accidentally kill myself by trying to use it, just because you told me how it works, besides I'd more likely be an obstacle to you.", Naoki said.
"I activate Exile Release, it destroys all cards that prevent banishing and lets me draw one for each."
"I can adapt. I activate Cloak and Dagger, declaring the name Sea Scales Ritual Dragon, when you summoned it your dragon and Dagger will both be banished."
"That's solved with a simple Mystic Space Typhoon. So you are the one having nothing to say about this supernatual power.", I said.
"Beating you is more important than this ethical dilemma, which is resolved by Fujiki and co deciding that it is OK.", Naoki excused himself.
"What would a victory tell you? Your good at preparing for one specific opponent. You can't possibly prepare for every oopponent Playmaker might face.
Since I am free now, I activate Tidal Insight, banishing all I have to add any card from my deck to my Hand. I choose Vanishing Ebb, which allows me to draw one card for every banished monster. Just one, but it's enough.
I activate Magical Mallet, reshuffling my whole hand.
Next comes, Tidal Rescue, putting Priestess from the GY on the field, banishing everything else there.
Now I activate Birth of the Tidal Dragon, putting the banished Link and Ritual Dragon back to where they belong. Then I Ritual Summon another Ritual Dragon to the field and you know what follows next."
"I'd take 5850 Points of damage, but that one makes me simply lose that much life Points, which in turn means I can only block it if I negate the whole effect, but I cannot.", Naoki said.
"You said telling you weird stuff wouldn't impair your Judgement? Then I'll tell you something else about the world I came from.
In it, this world is the Setting of an anime called Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. There Yusaku is Playmaker, Aoi Zaizen is Blue Angel, just like here. The Knights of Hanoi exist and an incident 10 years ago in which Playmaker was forced to take part in inhumane Experiments, created the AI he's Hhlding, or well, used to hold until I took it away. And you were the same idiot, without anything bigger behind it.", I said.
"Once I can accept people coming from other worlds, something like this isn't that special. And since my personality there and here differs, there is really no use in thinking to deeply about it. ", Naoki said.
I couldn't be more annoyed at someone's Level-headedness than I was in this Moment. Maybe Yusaku didn't have a weird identity Crisis breakdown, but he had more of a reaction than Naoki did just now.

"I may have lost the duel, but you are now the ones with more questions than answers and the one that's thoroughly confused. And to top that off, I'll just tell you one thing. In this world, Yusaku Fujiki definetly wasn't a victim of the incident. I was.", he said as he logged out.
When I logged out and returned to my apartment, I went outside and he was already gone.
"He simply turned at the right crossroad, don't start running around the town in search for him. I could easily find out his adress, provided he isn't watched by Kaede or Severin.", Dusktopia said.
"But I should pursue a lead like that. This is more than unexpected."
"Be glad I don't tell you find and do unspeakable things to him, as that is not part of our non-killing pact.", Dusktopia said.
"Alright, you made me want to find Naoki less. But why aren't you going to do anything about him? He could throw in a serious wrench in our plan.", I asked.
"The upcoming battle of Link VRAINS is more important and Playmaker might find it suspicious that someone else would want to join him right after Roget said it wouldn't make a difference as to how many People he would continue to Gather. For now he is just an obstacle to defeat."
"Then why was I supposed to be wary of his suprising intelligence?", I asked.
"So you wouldn't lose. While he can't use the previous info you gave him as leverage -which is why I won't punish you for being to talkative- he might do something unexpected with the information, that is why, but I have to investigate him myself before I can tell you, the only thing that can prevent me from finding out is one of the others supervising him at which Point they leave their own envoy unguarded.
Now, return to me and I'll give you your next ask."
I then returned to Dusktopia's lair.
"And said task is?", I asked.
"Play the pity card against Playmaker.", Dusktopia said.
"That's it?", I wondered.
"If it doesn't work, offer them a premature chance to regain Ai under the disguise of it being the only way to rebel against me. Of course it will only be a counterfeit image installed onto your duel disk's sphere. If this doesn't work forsake all honor and break their spirits."
".….That's what you said after I defeated Playmaker, just with extra steps.", I said.
"The precision was needed, as yor didn't feel the need to do so right away. But if you delay it further causing the end of someone else will be the least of your worries.", he said.
"a-alright, I swear I didn't-.", I said.
"I'll be nice and grant you one more day until tommorrow. But my warning stands. And don't you dare dissapoint me in the upcoming battle of Link VRAINS."
POV 2
"Okay, just knock the door Yukari, what could go wrong?", I muttered to myself. It's been so Long since I last met Mayoi. What could I say in this situation?
But before I could ruin my introduction, someone else knocked the door. From what the other students told me this was Yuya Sakaki, apparently an exchange student and her cousin. But he couldn't be related to her or Futaba, I would have known otherwise, so that was a mystery for me.
"Who are you and why are you looking at our house from afar like that?", he said with a Stern look.
"Eh, I'm not anyone suspicious, I p-promise! Could I see Mayoi?", I asked, "My name is Yukari Chiebukuro."
Without hesitation, I head Mayoi's voice shout: "Wait, it's WHO!?"
"Uh, yes it's me. Is that unfortunate right now?", I asked.
"Uh, yes, I mean no, I mean, come in!", she said.
I entered the house, and saw another Boy, which was named Yusak Fujiki, again, I know because I asked around. I was less suprised to see her hanging around with two guys rather than her finding not one but two friends (though there had to be sketchy circumstances for Yuya), of course the suprise was a pleasant one, regardless
"Uh, wait, we shouldn't start so many sentences with that, but where should we uh-", Mayoi then muttered a curse, "start with this?"
"I would suggest simply introduce this friend to us who you are Meeting again after a Long time.", Yusaku said.
"Speaking of introductions, where is Futaba?", I asked.
"She is a Charisma Duelist and taking part in the current event, she'll be back after the top 10 duels are over.", Yuya answered.
"So that worked out?", I said.
"Don't think I'd be staying with he if it didn't.", Mayoi said, "but no time for dark thoughts like that now. So have I not told you yet?"
"You told me.", Yuya said.
"So for Yusaku, she was a friend from 10 years ago, and I last met her before my mother moved here when Link VRAINS was a bit more place restricted.
I still had my deck from 10 years ago because we promised each other we'd keep them until we meet each other again."
"Why did you show it them?", I wondered, "From what I heard you only know them for a few days."
Was I annoyed? While we never said we'd not take it out or keep it our own kittle secret, part of me hoped it would happen like that anyways.
"Heard? Did you spy on us before coming here?", Yusaku asked.
"Nonono! I was just asking around because I was a bit shy about meeting you again, I mean, we've been little kids when we last met, it's not that weird of a reaction! And I didn't find out about any of your weird secrets whatever they are!"
"Should we tell her? Yusaku did say after all that we would 'gather' other people.", Yuya asked.
"Wait, is this a cult?", I freaked out.
"N-no, it's Playmaker!", Mayoi said
"Which of them?", I asked.
"Me. But we might as well start from the beginning.", Yusaku said and yeah, I could have figured from Yuyas phrasing, but excuse me not being in perfect deduction mode.
And as you can guess, they told me everything they knew. And showed me their decks with cards barely anyone else had, which Playmaker's suprising new allies also had to ensure I didn't consider them delusional.
"*sigh* not what I expected to hear shortly after I almost beat two Charisma Duelists.", I said.
"Then you are Crystall Princess?", Yugo who was the last one of Yuya's Souls/Counterparts/whatever to introduce himself to me said, "and Yuri, as he likes to do, since we're one ,is yelling at me for thinking you could have been Green Jackpot."
"Yeah, less impressive than your story, but I had to say something.", I argued, "does that mean, you want me to join the Yusacrew, since you promised it to the weird Girl that fetched Yuya.
"Don't call it Yusacrew.", Yusaku said.
"Like mone of you even comtemplated using that eam name.", I said, "anyway before my brain processes this crazy story, assuming this Kaede Urashima doesn't drag me to her place, since we both have our 10 years ago decks, it's time for the reunion duel!"
"Way ahead of you!", she said, holding out he old Evil Hero deck. Funny how it stayed a deck with a rather dark theme throughout the years.
Yukari (4000lp) vs Mayoi (4000lp)
"That was fast.", Yugo said.
"I start by summoning Prisman (ATK: 800), then I activate Double Summon for a Rescue Rabbit, I banish him for two more Prismen. I follow with Level Dissonance, bumping up their Levels from 3 to 4. I Xyz Summon, Gagagigo the Risen and equip him with Ruby Sword, this gives him 1000 more ATK. (Gagagigo ATK: 2950-3950) I end my turn here."
"I activate Dark Fusion Gate, this allows me to banish the original from my deck to use its effect, I fuse Bubbleman and Burstinatrix into Evil Hero Vapor Medic. (ATK: 1800)"
"The counterpart to Steam Healer. Though impressive in LP recovery, she will need a 4th card to take out Gagagigo. And even then Ruby Sword allows Yukari to detach his overlay unit instead.", Yusaku analyzed.
"I wouldn't do this if it was doomed to fail. I'll use an equip spell of my own, Dark Energy gives Vapor Medic 300 attack Points. (ATK: 1800-2100) Then I activate Terraforming to search for Sky Scraper 3- Villain's HQ, I attack Gagagigo the Risen with Vapor Medic, whose effect allows me to gain LP equal to Risen's ATK and also the ATK of Vapor Medic is doubled before the strike hits (ATK: 2100-4200 Mayoi LP: 4000-7950 Yukari LP: 4000-3750 Gagagigo OLU: 3-2) Afterwards, HQ allows me to trade Medic for Sludge Bomber"
"I'm pretty sure these things would happen in a different order. And are you sure you don't want to play Evil Heroes anymore, these cards look pretty strong and this is just the third time I see you duel with this deck.", Yugo said.
"Life Point increase merely delays your loss. ", I explained, "And Bomber only has its invincibility while it's the only Monster, that can also be changed.
And I will demonstrate it by using Reinforcement for the Army to search my deck for D.D. Guide. I summon it (ATK: 1400) and he instantly switches control to the opponent. I attack Sludge Bomber (Mayoi LP:7950-5900) I end my turn and D.D. Guide now allows me to choose a Monster in Mayoi's GY and banish it. Of course I pick Sludge Bomber."
"So, if anyone were to start using Sludge Bomber, summoning bad monsters to your opponent's field would get super-popular?", Yugo wondered.
"Yes, I remember some strange up and down phases with this card. But currently there is no Sludge Bomber Season.", Yusaku said.
"Does that mean Hanoi grunts have been using this card?", Yugo wondered.
"Yes they did.", Yusaku answered.
"My turn. I activate Pseudo Space and banish Dark Fusion Gate to get ist effect again. This time I banish Dark Calling and use Burstinatrix and Bubbleman to summon Evil Hero Prominence Lord. (ATK: 2600) I enter the Battle Phase and Lord lets me draw a card. I drew Evil Hero Infernal Prodigy, since it was an Evil Hero, his ATK increases. (ATK: 2600-2900)
I hoped for Malicious Edge, but I have to go to Main Phase 2 in that case. This time I banish Dark Fusion to fuse Prominence Lord and Infernal Prodigy into Evil Hero Finsternis. When summoned he Targets one Hero in the GY and increases his power by that monster's power (ATK: 2500-5100)
I use Burial from a different Dimension to put Dark Fusion, Dark Fusion Gate and Sludge Bomber back into my graveyard."
"Those are the counterparts to Nova Master and Escuridao. But if she drew Malicious Edge, she would only have 100 ATK more than Finsternis does now."
"But Prominence Lord's ATK boost stays, while I have to re-select a Monster to boost Finsternis' ATK. Also I want to have some fun by using as many Evil Heroes as possible.", Mayoi said.

"My turn, draw. I activate Reload to shuffle my whole hand into the deck and get a new one. I use Hidden Armory by sending the top card of my deck to the GY, then I chain Serial Spell, by discarding the remaining card in my hand, so I can copy Hidden Armory's effect. I search two new Ruby Swords and equip them. (Gagagigo the Risen ATK: 3950-5950)
Now I can destroy Evil Hero Finsternis. (Mayoi LP: 5950-5050)"
"Is this your strategy you had when you were younger? To focus on one strong monster and then empower it?", Yusaku asked.
"It's not that good of a card though.", Yugo said.
"Yugo!", Mayoi chided.
"I expected you to be the last person to do that, and hey not a serious duel, it's alright.", he muttered.

"Wasn't sure if it really interested anyone. But what should we do now?", Yusaku asked.
"I guess this is where I am supposed to offer joining the Team since you promised that Sagess that you would gather people. If that other guy wanted to send in traitors would he really warn you?", I asked, "And initially Mayoi only joined you because it was important they'd be on your side rather than eventually fall to Hanoi, not that I plan on doing so. And you might as well let that Naoki guy join since he probably will only keep his loose mouth shut if he knows how serious this is."
"But what if Roget knows that we'd worry about you betraying us? If we'd go crazy over that possibility it might be even more useful to him.", Yugo guessed.
I hope bringing up the traitor possibility won't backfire extremely.
"That's actually a possibility, but I will not let his words get to me. The question is, can we let your parents know? And do you understand how serious this is?", Yusaku said.
"Oh, well I suppose I can get away with skipping classes once and just claim that I was visiting Mayoi. They know my friend from 10 years is here.", I said.
"I'm sorry to say this, but you only sidestepped the first part of Yusaku's question and didn't really answer the second, except that you have an excuse foe this exact day.", Mayoi said.
"On that note, how did Futaba let him join you?", I asked.
"She probably has a crazy amount of faith in me or the strange intuition that I'll make it out alive and that we'll get what we want. She is good at telling whether a crazy Story is true or made up after all. I don't think your parents have that or are gonna let you do this, so sidestepping is the right choice probably.", Mayoi quickly, but reluctantly admitted.
"We could see if Chihiro Himegeki is present at school tomorrow, confront him once more and let Yukari duel him. He wasn't there today though, so he might not need to go there for the sake of his masters plans anymore.", Yusaku said, "however we don't know when Hanoi will strike next, so we will have to just survey the emptied area for their traces from tomorrow onward. Maybe even a little bit of it today. If my messenger tells you, that they've attacked, you'll have to decide right then and there whether you should take part in this fight."
"Is that our plan now?", Yugo asked.
"Being spontaneous in social situations isn't my strongest suit, so this is the best I can come up with, we'll also have to tell Futaba and Shoichi.", he said.
It wasn't that horrible for a plan though. Unless I am someone bad at planning. Then take what I just said with a grain of salt.
"At worst, you have an additional practice partner now. But I'll also need the ability for Action Duels, so you should install it tomorrow.", I said.
"Whether she realized the seriousness or not, she's taking it pretty well.", Yugo noted.
"I think maybe Yukari's not quite done processing it. I'm not quite done either.", Mayoi said.
"However this time, while I technically have an excuse, I probably still shouldn't stay for that long, I said I was only gonna have a quick suprise visit, so we'll have to meet tomorrow.", I said.
"Then we'll discuss it further tomorrow.", Yusaku said.
POV 3 Aoi
Somehow Akira didn't make anyone supervise me. I must have looked so crushed, as If I wouldn't have found any loopholes to continue thrusting myself into dangerous duels, after he took away my duel disk and deck. Or maybe his own guilt prevented him from being harsher on me.
But there was an obvious one I realized right away, I could simply borrow a duel disk. And If I remember correctly Sato from the duel club had deck based on those from Charisma Duelist. So I can even duel outside of the vrains.
I just need to get him to give it to me.
So as soon as I met him in school I approached him.
"Hey Sato, do you still have the Trickstar deck? And can I borrow your duel disk for today?", I asked him.
"Huh, what for?", he asked.
"I've gotten a bad grade recently and my brother is very strict about these kinds of things. So I won't be allowed to duel, but there is someone I promised a duel.", said, "so I have to be the bad girl now."
That akward part at the end was supposed to distract him from the unusualness from this request, but I immediately questioned myself, how on earth I assumed that it would actually work.
"Was it actually something else that happened? You seem strange today.", he said.
"It was a friend I haven't met in ages! I swear!", I urged him, not bothering to hide my nervousness. In fact, my nervousness about what I had to do helped cover my nervousness about lying.
"It's obvious you want to hide your true reason, but you seem like the person to return what she borrowed, so I will lend it to you.", he said.
He handed his deck and duel disk over to me and I wonder if I just managed to annoy him into submission in under a minute, but there was no time for stupid self-doubt like that. I have what I need to confront Himegeki, should he show up again and take Playmaker's AI from him.
POV 4 Yusaku
As soon as it was time for the duel club, I received a message on my duel disk.
"Can this thing be that outdated if you can read this? Anyway meet me in an alley around school, I can appear anywhere, so it doesn't matter which one, I'll give you an hour signed, Chihiro Himegeki."
"Find Yukari.", I told Yuya, "Chihiro was not at school today, but he send me a message presumably intending to challenge us, this is the situation to test whether she is up to it."
"Alright.", he said.
"Hey, Yusaku.", Naoki said, "I don't know if you found out, but I know your secret. And not just the hotdog thing. Uh, is this the right time to confess that."
I was a little bit unsettled, but we DID consider him briefly and here I could show him a serious situation that would show him why he should be more quiet about this.
"Then come along with me, we'll tell Hosoda it was an emergency."
"I'll be good at pretending a lot of bad things happened at once on my own, leave it to me and go ahead.", Naoki said.
Sure, why not? Don't worry about Roget's declaration, just don't, he was just trying to scare us with boasts about Hanoi's true strength being greater than we imagined. We then all gathered up at the school gate.
"There's someone else who knows your secret!?", Yukari said.
"Yeah, he discovered Mayoi and Yuto dueling when they first encountered, by accident and let it slip, but if he has seen how serious this is, he might not have such a loose tongue.", I said.
"I know I'm a bad fan and secret keeper, but I'm not as big of a fool as I make myself out to be, I'm pretty good actually.", Naoki said.
"That fact makes you less trustworthy.", Yukari said, but Naoki already went off.
"But we better have him work on our side than on Hanoi's in that case.", I said, "Also Mayoi's friend returning after 10 at this point in time is also suspicious, as was her and Yuya's appearance in the first place, I simply have to hope for the best in all of those cases. "
"I guess I'm not really in a place to complain.", she admitted, "so let's just go."
However on the way, we meet two other new students that joined today. I should have suspected they have some connection to this conflict when I heard about them in class, but I hoped it was a mere coincidence
"Let me guess, you're Severin's new goons.", Mayoi said.
"So you know about the others as well.", the green haired Boy said, "however Severin has said-"
"If you don't want to ensure us coming late, in what might be a duel against a different foe, you should go away.", I said.
"How about Izuku will help you and we talk while we go there together instead?", the girl said, "we shouldn't reveal the whole arsenal before the big fight or before having succesfully wooed you away from Kaede, that's why only one of us duels."
"You're attempting what? ", Yuya gasped.
"I mean, there might be some good reasons for that.", she said, as we all continued walking, "Severin's into revealing the truth about everything that happened 10 years ago, while Kaede is not? And you don't want this to be swept under the rug for a different reasons than the perpetrator's, do you?"
"Why would we betray her for Severin instead of continuing to try and change her mind?", Mayoi pointed out.
"Severin assumes it won't be possible to do that.", Izuku said, "And he promised to send all envoys back to their own world once this is over, including Chihiro Himegeki, will Kaede take care of that as well? Or does she see them as enemies only?"
"Now that you mention it, we never asked, but it's very likely that you're right.", Yuya muttered.
"You've rather easily accepted Naoki's help, maybe we should agree to this offer?", Yukari suggested.
"H-hey, I've told the people in the club *huff*, that we wouldn't be there, and I'm really lucky I found you!", Naoki said, "What were you talking about?"
"Whether we should join them, because Yusaku isn't fully on board with his 'master's' goals. Or should I tell him in more detail?", Yukari asked.
"He will find out soon enough, and Chihiro Himegeki, I have found even more allies.", I said as I saw him standing in a Corner.
"Why do you always assume it's a duel?", Chihiro said as he appeared out of the shadow, though he looked like he was in a terrible mood.
"That gloomy face kind of ruined the dramatic entrance.", Yukari noted.
"Befor I explain why I gathered you, who are the three apart from Naoki that joined you?", Chihiro asked.
"I am Izuku Midoriya, are you Chihiro Himegeki?", Izuku asked.
" Yes. And If the answer to my question is no, I will look crazy, but do you have superpowers?", Chihiro asked.
"Wha-? How did you know?!", the girl on Izuku's side gasped.
"Since he told me he is from a world where everyone here is a fictional character, Izuku must also be from a world that's fictional from the perspective of his world, probably some kind of superhero comic.", Naoki said.
"Wait, you met this guy? And you can just deal with all of this supernatural stuff?", Yukari asked.
"It was presumably in less detail than what Yusaku and co. told you, but yes.", Naoki said.
"To be honest, something like that really shouldn't suprise me, but anways. my name is Blythe Kawano, It's only polite to introduce myself before we made you or anyone join.", Blythe said.
"I unfortunately doubt Dusktopia would let that happen.", he said, "But I don't plan on really being all that faithful to him, so I'll offer you this if you can beat me in a duel."
Chihiro showed his duel disk with a muted silent Ai inside.
"If you intend to betray him, why not give it to us immediately?", Mayoi asked.
"He is not watching over me currently with his omniscient gaze as far as I know, but he can see whether I dueled anyone. I will lead him to believe that I had a much more sinister purpose in mind that failed when I show it to him.", he said.
"Considering that you hospitalized us it is hard to believe you would betray him.", I said sternly.
"If that was intentional, your injuries wouldn't have been this relatively light, believe me seeing you all unconscious is what made me realize this isn't just some silly story and that my actions matter and can do harm.", he said.
"I hate to be the one saying this, but being definetly not on the heroes side should have tipped you off that he isn't the best master.", Yuya said, gritting his teeth.
"Like he gave me a choice! He's hoping that instead of cracking under the pressure of realizing that I could be trapped in here forever, I vastly increase my CCE abilities and become a better tool for him, perhaps even wanting to be a villain! One of your masters being kind enough to sent me back to my world after Kouhei loosing is my only hope, but if I outright betray him he's giving me a punishment worse than being stuck!", he begged.
"While it still could be a trap, not all of what you said is implausible. So we will accept, I will duel alongside Yukari and Naoki and Izuku, to see if their dueling is strong enough to help me.", I said.
"Oh please, even if Severin was recruiting you with lies, he wouldn't pick bad duelists intentionally. Izuku may have needed some training, but Severin is a good teacher.", Blythe said.
"Weren't you a lot more nervous before?", Izuku wondered.
"I wasn't used to being brought to another world yet. If you really think about it, the stakes her are much lower than in an interdimensional war. And you should be using heroic speeches on the importance of truth now.", she said.
"Don't remind me of that part...", Yukari muttered.
"I'm not aware of what topic you were discussing just now, but if this AI is on the line, I will join on my own side.", Aoi Zaizen interrupted.
"We were actually discussing whether you would be an additional ally, are you.", Mayoi said.
"That would be a crazy amount of pretty girls suddenly joining Yusaku, is what Ai would say if he was unmuted.", Chihiro said.
"I would duel you instead under normal circumstances,
but revealing one deck is enough anda 4v1v1 make Playmaker's victory chances likely enough .", Blythe said.
"Why do yo want this AI?", Izuku asked.
"I'm on the side of SOL Technologies for now, you don't have to know more about me."
"Wait, so on one hand we have us, Yusaku and co., Chihiro and then These Knights of Hanoi and SOL, which makes 5 different sides in this conflict.", Izuku scribbled down on a notepad, "but SOL was the one who made these inhuman CCE Experiments, do you know about them? Or were you completely on their side even?"
She hesitated and took a deep breath: "I said 'for now'. It may change, but it didn't so far."
"Are you expecting Izuku to use a 'heroic speech' now to change her mind? I don't think you will have an easy time.", Yuya said with a hint of bitternes.
"I think your actions make less sense. Considering your dispute with Kaede Urashima it would be far more reasonable to join us rather than take in these two people or that girl not yet on your side.", Blythe argued.
"You make yourself seem like the one we should be fighting for, but how do we know you're not just pretending to seek the truth?", Mayoi asked.
"If this one guy pretended to be a fool and isn't, it definetly makes less sense to trust him than us. Neither has a 0% chance of failure or a 100% chance of success, but you should choose the obviously better one.", Izuku argued.
"I hate to bring this up now, but didn't Naoki say he could make a good excuse? Why did Aoi follow us?", Yuya said.
"Making good excuses doesn't help against those who naturally doubt everything. And I was the one who accidentally told your true identity to her so, hehe..."
"That makes me even more confused as to why you would make him your ally.", Izuku said.
"Give it a rest, Izuku. Yusaku Fujiki insists on the most foolish course of action. He's gone loopy.", Blythe said.
The horrible part is, she might be right, one person after another getting to know I am Playmaker might indeed be clouding my judgement, It makes it nigh-impossible to stay calm and think rationally.
"I thought you all were here to duel. As I go against multiple people, I will decrease my enemies life Points.", Aoi said.
"But I'd rather have an increase, so I guess we'll have to halve it between us both, making it me with 8000, Aoi with 4000 and you 4 with 2000.", Chihiro said.
"I will still fight for Yusaku's side.", Izuku said.
"One final thing to tell you before Dusktopia may or may not stop watching me. We plan to betray Hanoi anyway. He just plans to threaten SOL into utilizing CCE more openly, preferrably so he can enter the real world and wreak havoc with his powers. Now, let's begin."

"They will obviously supercede the usual Action Duel handlimit, just how Imperial Iron Wall doesn't make everything stay on the field when someone else uses Macrocosmos.", Blythe said, Izuku immediately and without hesitation went for the first Action Card possible.
"I begin by activating Photon Sanctuary, which nets me two light Attribute Tokens. I tribute them for Zaborg the Megamonarch (ATK: 2800)"
"So you could have played a good deck in the duel club the whole time?", Naoki wondered.
"What's that proverb about pot and kettle again?", he asked, "I self-destruct him and since he destroyed and was summoned by tributing a light Monster, I get to not only send 8 cards -since he is a Level 8 Monster- from all Extra Decks to the GY, but also look at all of my opponent's and choose what to mill from theirs.
For Aoi, that is 3 Tricktster Holly Angels, 3 Crimson Heart and 2 Bella Madonna.
For Yusaku that is Firewall Dragon, Decode Talker, Powercode Talker, Transcode Talker, 3 Gaia Saber the Lightning Shadow and a Missus Radiant.
For Yukari its 3 Crystal Beast Opal Centaur, 3 Holite Werewolf, 2 Kunzite Giant.
For Naoki 3 Gatling Dragon, 3 Sheriff Gatling Dragon and 2 Panzer Dragon.
For Izuku 3 Vision Hero Trinity, 3 Adoration and 2 Release. Interesting deck choice.
Finally, from my own deck, I sent 3 Herald of the Arc Light, Naturia Barkion and Beast and three PSY-Framelord Omega.
Arclight allows me to add a Ritual Monster or Spell, I choose Gishki Aquamirror and two copies of Zielgigas.
I use each Framelord's effect to put themselves and the Herald's back into my deck."
"That is a lot better than the last one.", Yuya said.
"What did he use before?", Yukari wondered.
"A weak Djinn Xyz deck and I used to have a weak deck for outside of VRAINS too, but this time I won't use the new and stronger one. I will use my real deck.", I said.
"Good because I won't make mistakes on purpose with this one either.", he said, "Then it's time for my Action Card of the turn."
Obviously everyone but Izuku went now for one. The narrow alley didn't leave much room so they were easy to spot on the ground or right in front of us. He, Aoi and me each picked up one.
"I won't use it yet. First, I sacrifice one Zielgigas for the Ritual Summon of the other. (ATK: 3200) For 1000 Life Points, his effect allows me to draw one card. (Chihiro LP: 8000-7000) Unfortunately now Gishki, but I can't shuffle any of your cards anyway. Then I activate Miracle Synchro Fusion, Barkion and Beast now become Naturia Exterio (ATK: 2800) I set two cards and end my turn."
"Now he can negate pretty much anything until his deck is empty.", Mayoi gritted her teeth.
"Then I will prove myself as ally first. I summon Vision Hero Vyon and send Minimum Ray from my deck to the GY. I activate Zero Penalty on Exterio."
"Negated, I banish Sanctuary and mill the top card of my deck with Exterio's ability.", Chihiro said.
"Then I attack Exterio with Vyon!"
"I think you don't have a handtraps. It's a bluff.", Chihiro said.
"Unfortunately you were right, (Izuku LP 2000-200) but I set a card. Then I play Reinforcement for the Army!"
"I'll negate again by banishing Miracle Synchro Fusion, do you really think you can make me mill my whole deck?"
"Maybe not. But eventually a good card will go there and you hastily used up each of your PSY-Framelord Omega's, if the remaining Zaborg's are 'milled' your decks strategy would be impossible.", Izuku said.
"Still, do you Need to relearn not to take crazy risks like that?", Chihiro wondered.
"He does.", Blythe said.
"I think I can I trust the 4 others have a way to stop Exterio. I activate Polymerization. ", Izuku said.
"Obvious negate. I banish the not-Zaborg that got milled the first time."
"My turn is almost over, but Yusaku Fujiki why do you fight for your current side if the one you serve has a different view on how to deal with the truth of the Experiment 10 years ago? "
"I initially only fought to meet one person again and to save one that was abducted. But with the power of new allies granted to me, I do intend to aim for more than two reunions, one of which I already had."
"Can I find out who or could it be leverage for the enemy?", Yukari asked.
"It's me. I gave him the three things catchphrase he occasionally uses.", Mayoi said.
"If you're looking for someone affected by that incident, they're either with SOL like me, or with Hanoi.", Aoi said.
"I know, but I will get them back.", I said.
"In that case, Izuku and Yuya would be the perfect allies as they would try to talk him out of Hanoi or SOL. And Naoki told me in our duel he was one of those victims, has he told you yet? So he is probably gonna betray you for one of them.", Chihiro said, "or it's Yukari the weirdly clean one. Maybe both. I haven't told Hanoi about your identity yet and they didn't tell me about infiltrating you with a traitor."
"If he's confident telling you that while Kouhei might watch it is highly likely a lie. And while his theory is sound you shouldn't dwell on it, he's clearly intending to confuse you rather than give advice.", Izuku said.
"Honestly, I expected you to be taken in by his obvious pity play.", Blythe said.
"I was intending to stick with this path from the beginning. My turn, draw. With no monsters on the field, I special summon Link Slayer. I activate his effect, discarding the Gishki Ritual Spell I got as Action Card and another one from my hand to destroy your face-down cards."
"Before that, I activate the effect of my Prime Monarch, shuffling Tenacity and Stormforth from my GY to draw another card."
"I revive the Dotscaper I discarded. Then I normal summon Draconet and with him Bittron.", I proceded.
"Did you buy some other Link Monster that's going to end Exterio? I'm pretty sure I didn't see any when looking through your Extra Deck.", Chihiro wondered.
"No, I don't need anything new. I activate Cynet Universe. If it gets destroyed by Exterio's effect, all monsters in the Extra Monster zone will be sent to the GY."
"And you can put Powercode Talker back into the Extra Deck. Go ahead. Do it.", he said.
"I Link Summon Powercode Talker his ATK being additionally increased by Cynet Universe (ATK: 2300-2600) I don't need to, but I negate the effects of Exterio. Then I attack with him and offer Bittron to double his base ATK. (ATK: 2600-4600 Chihiro LP: 7000-5200) I set 4 cards and end my turn."
"Now it's my turn. I activate Gathering of Light to add Trickstar Candina to my hand. I activate Trickstar Lightstage and use its effect to search Lycoris.
I summon Trickstar Candina, and activate her effect to add a Trickstar to my hand, but I chain Lycoris' effect to summon herself and bouncing back Candina afterwards. On Chain Link 3 I use Chain Summon, now I am able to normal summon three times this turn.
I reuse this Combo until I Control three copies of Lycoris and hold Candina in my Hand again. I set three cards and, I Shine on the very left of Fujiki's face-down card with Lightstage's effect, use it now, at the end of my turn, or send it to the GY."
"I will preemptively use Double Storm Duster to destroy two of your face-downs.", I countered.
"Messing up the order of effects after a succesfull Chain Summon Combo... embarassing, I end my turn and since the Action Card was useless to me, so I banish it and lose 1000 Life Points (Aoi L P: 4000-3000)", Aoi gritted her teeth.
"Still, taking 200 damage for each card, times two because of Lightstage and times three because she controls that many Lycoris' is a pretty bad Situation for everyone else, even Chihiro, It looks like some decks are better in lopsided duels than alone.", Izuku.
"Are you expecting me to bail you out of this now, because you insist on trusting the Yusacrew against Yusaku's consent?", Yukari asked.
"Hah, well it's not like I expected someone with effect damage this good to appear, so maybe...yeah.", he answered.
"I maybe don't get Extra Links regularly, but I actually can do that. I draw (Yukari LP: 2000-1800-1600-1400-1200-1000-800) I summon Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus, with his effect, I place Diamond Snake from my deck in my backrow. Then I activate Crystal Shard Shatter, I send Diamond Snake to my GY, now I gain an additional attack whenever I defeat a Monster, Now Battle!"
"I still have Honest in my hand!", Aoi countered.
"I will interecept with the Action Card Raw fight. Now Lycoris cannot gain ATK for this battle. (Aoi LP: 3000-2800)", Chihiro said, "You're a bit more dangerous than them."
"I attack the other one!"
"And I activate Trickstar Cascade, bouncing back Lycoris and negating your attack."
"At least she got rid of two.", Yuya said.
"I have three cards to set and end my turn. Now it's Naoki's move.", Yukari said.
"Time to show my hidden genius, my turn-", Naoki began.
"Before the turn passes over towards you I revive one Lycoris by banishing destroyed Trickstar Reincarnation.", Aoi interrupted.
"...draw. (Naoki LP: 2000-1200) I summon Bomb Spider and destroy itself and then Gishki Zielgigas. This lets me summon Desperado Barrel Dragon. I activate Second Coin Toss and enter the battle Phase, but insteaf of attacking with my dragon, I toss three coins for my dragons effect.", he got none on the first try, "I re-toss, and have three heads, I destroy all Lycoris and unfortunately Pegasus as collateral damage goes to Yukari's backrow and then I draw one card as I got a triple.
Destroying my enemies monser with a machine, also makes it possible for me to summon Greenhorn Blowback Dragon (ATK: 2500) and this time I attack miss Zaizen with it. (Aoi LP: 2800-300)
I set 2 cards and end my turn."
"I revive Lyoris again with my second Reincarnation."
"If you don't agree with Kouhei's malicious intent, why are you on his side? I have to know if this is more han 'pity play'.", Izuku asked.
Would Chihiro saying more words really make it easier to see if he's lying?
"Seems enough turns passed for another 'heroic speech'. Though if you're like the fictional one, you never actually turned a villain into a good guy.
Though maybe you're from a later episode."
"Answer my question.", he insisted.
"What I said earlier wasn't detailed enough? Said punishment would obviously be the death of my family in my own universe. If he expands his incredible power, he is going to do this it if I betray him, but I don't know for certain that he cannot do it already. He didn't say it outright, but he'd be willing to do it, I know. I have to fight with all my power, hope he fails anyway, and hope your master is as kind as you make him out to be. However as I expected no transfer of Ai was happening. But what could our enemy want from this fake-out fight?
"What did you gain by telling us a sob story and challenging us to a duel with no stakes?", I demanded.
"I swear, I was led to believe it was Ai, but muted and not an Image. My story wasn't a lie however.", he said barely looking me in the eyes.
"The horrible thing is, I don't know if I would make a better choice in his place.", Mayoi shamefully admitted.
"I somehow made him promise not to make me do anything that would inflict lethal harm, though of course it's not like it really matters.", he said.
"I didn't become some bad guy after the incident, but it's hardly comparable to your Situation of being threatened in the moment, so I guess you do have to hope Kouhei's schemes are foiled before he can drag you down with him.", Naoki said.
"Ch, I admit, I'm not fighting for the truth for heroic reasons, what if part of me only wants it now out of spite and because my 'divine' helper forbids it? I wonder whether that is the case or because the chance for that outcome finally opened itself me. But I never used Ai as the bargain chip he was meant to be, so it's not certain. ", I know I acted like I was easily forgiving him, but I was reluctant to speak against Mayoi. Looks like those worries were right.
"So, one of you has a noble goal with selfish origins, though actually it's more of a noble goal on a strictly personal Level. The other one follows a malevolent goal, with the same kind of goal, but does so under duress. Sounded like more of a contrast in my mind, but, I will attempt to help you too even if Severin only wants me to convince Yuya to his side at the moment."

"I don't know, but I will search for a way. If there was no blackmail you would be on the same side as me, wouldn't you?", Izuku asked.
"If I had a backbone there, I would rebel against Kouhei. Most of my fears about what he'd do are just that, I have no idea what he really can do."
"Neither do Izuku or Blythe about Severin's abilities.", I said.
"But that would imply their cause isn't the issue.", Aoi said.
"Aoi could be trying to simplify the amount of factions to make this easier to win for SOL, but... Izuku show us hat your side is worth fighting for when the real battle comes.", Mayoi said. I was so glad she wasn't on board with a complete side change right before a huge event.
"Right now, you're all just postponing a big issue.", Blythe muttered.
"Changing who we're fighting for, right now wouldn't do us any good.",Yuya said.
"I doubt you'll get an ideal moment for that, but if Izuku has no better words, I'll see you in a duel. Also Chihiro probably shouldn't have spilled that we're from a wholly different world in front of Aoi Zaizen and you, Izuku shouldn't have done so a second time and then we mentioned- I sholdn't recap all of it either.", Blythe said.
"I already know that Yuya can switch decks whenever he switches body with another person and I heard about Chihiro knowing a fictional version of him and I told Akira.", Aoi asked, "whether he thinks I'm crazy or if I'm getting into something far too dangerous, I don't know. But clearly it didn't and won't make it easier to prove myself to him."
"Huh, let's hope he doesn't believe her.", Naoki said.
"He certainly will believe Yusaku and all of you and then me and Naoki being on Team Playmaker.", Yukari gasped, "Only Reason SOL hasn't gone after you is that they think we and Hanoi will be dashed to pieces against each other. "
"Great, two factions knowing of me, how long until the whole world knows.", I grimaced.
"Should we ask what we have to do in exchange for her not telling?", Naoki wondered.
"There are no demands I have. If Akira thinks they are true and thinks this is too dangerous for me rather than that I could be of help to Link VRAINS, it's bad luck for both of us.", Aoi said, "That's all I have to say."
Then she left.
"Now, anything else for me to answer?", Chihiro asked.
"If I was in a similar situation, I would want to see those close to me again. And I would do dishonorable things too, but as long as you cannot allow yourself to switch sides, there is no reason to think about your words. We will fight you the same way we would have otherwise.", I said.
"I am convinced we can find a way to free you. And we will.", Izuku said.
"Not that you can demand much more.", Blythe said.
"Won't he punish you already for talking so openly about not wanting to be on his side?", Mayoi asked.
"As Long as I'm winning he doesn't care how I think about being on his side.", he said.
"However, to ensure this isn't the trap Yusaku thinks it is, at least... fight Guardians of SOL before you duel us, show that you really aren't on his side in subtle ways.", Yuya suggested.
"Maybe I can convince Kouhei to let me do it.", he said.
"I got nothing to add.", I said, "does anyone else?"

POV 5 Dusktopia
I know he didn't have to lie in his pity play, but I don't believe he will ever make his claims true. As he himself said, he lacks the backbone to do so.
And as much as Yusaku tries not to think about it, his new allies minds are not unaffected by this and it could make them waver in a decisive moment.
"Splendid delivery, I must say."
"Yeah, sure.", he mumbled.
"Don't worry, none of your horrific predictions of how I would punish your betrayal have given me new ideas on how to do so.", I said.
Was I pushing my luck? I don't think so. His deck is incredibly strong, but his will is definetly not. He will feel bad, but I doubt he truly has the hope to search for a way out or even the guile to find it and while Yusaku's allies might pity him now, they won't forgive all acts.
"What about the demand to only duel SOL members in the fight for as long as possible?", he asked.
"Fight whoever stands in your way, you will face them eventually, if you don't loose that is. And if you do...", I said, "Anyway the next step is, defeat all the aforementioned ones until what in Urban Legend is called the secret Guardian of SOL shows himself . Or somehing like that. I know it's true.
You or Roget will defeat them and then with my Incredible abilities, we will make a threat for them to utilize CCE to allow me to enter the world again and then, I won't need you or Roget anymore."
"Wait, so all you wanted all along to Blackmail SOL into giving you some kind of energy reserves they apparently have so you become some kind of CCE God, is that right?", Chihiro demanded
"I won't instantly become it after returning there, I know that, the path won't be over so soon. But I will finally be a person again you will be free to go, provided you're not a failure.", I said.
"It can't be over that soon.", he said, dumbfounded.
"Makes one reconsider whether they should betray or not.", I said, "Your story only continues if you fail."
"Another facet we haven't mentioned is that obviously you'll have to backstab Hanoi once the other enemies are gone. I don't think they'll be needed to make my threat more credible, in fact SOL staying functional would be kind of needed and Hanoi doesn't want that.", I added.
"Uh...Was that an attempt at a joke?", he wondered.
"I was explaining my plan. You might have assumed I was going to weaponize Hanoi for longer.", I said.
"Well, it makes sense.", he said.
"Until Hanoi calls for the attack on Link VRAINS, you really are free to do whatever you wish.", I said.
POV 6 Blythe, at their staying place
"I guess that 'heroic speech' wasn't as good as Severin hoped.", Izuku said.
"Have you actually done something similar?", I asked.
"There were two times, I was trying to help someone I was fighting. In one case it was a Sports festival and another one with a classmate who was feeling guilty over the hero who gave me my powers losing them. It was never against a real enemy and I understood what they were going through better and it didn't fix everything. ", he answered.
"Maybe calling it 'heroic speeches' wasn't the right aprroach. We're not some self-Aware comedy and I should have taken this situation seriously, now matter how much smaller than a dimensional war this is.", I said.
"It was still up to me to make them.", he said.
"I still had overblown expectations of them. I hope Severin didn't.", I said.
Then we were in Severin's room of void.
"I did not. But I did decide to throw you into the cold water.", he said.
"Which normally would be more likely to cause drowning, mental trauma than to teach swimming, but sure.", I said.
"Then you can thank me there wasn't a raging storm out there, though it's coming very soon. It might even start after this conversation is over. And while I expect this conflict to be over this year one way or the other, it won't be finished in two days.", Severin said.
"Then, what do you think of our performance?", Izuku asked.
"First, do you believe you are fighting for the wrong side?", he asked.
"Initially, we weren't supposed to take part here at all, but no even if you were lying about your intentions, you would make a different claim than the one you're making now and from what Yusaku's Team and Chihiro told me you were NOT lying about the other two beings, so yeah, you're not the bad guys, Kouhei is, and Kaede is the middle one. That's what it looks like now.", I answered.
"Couldn't have said it better than Blythe did, just wouldn't have been openly snarky and cynical.", Izuku said.
"Then, Izuku, while you handle your deck well, I hope you won't take needless risks like that in a real situation. In a Speed Duel they can even be more harmful. Blythe, I think it wouldn't have been harmful to take part in that duel, even considering Olympe. Throwing them off-guard with your own multitude of souls and decks isn't something we can save up indefinetly anway."
"Understood.", we both said.
"Good, then after I tell you this you are free until I message you of Hanoi's assault.", he said, "The other allly I had is this Woman, Emma Bessho in Link VRAINS known as Ghost Girl."
He showed a holographic Image of her next to one, next to one with slightly altered haircolors and a mask covering her faces.
"She was also victim of the 2nd half of the incident, but she is someone who fights for the highest bidder, nevertheless she has brought me many Infos I couldn't gain by hovering my face over the world, hoping I would look at something of value. Now she is with SOL, but the info I gained from her will be important after the Battle of Link VRAINS."
"I see, so you have 'those' kinds of connections too.", Izuku said.
I was more curious as to how he got that money in the first place.
"And is she gonna get hired back or does Izuku have to talk her into doing it for free?", I wondered.
"I admit, that remains to be seen.", Severin said.
POV 7 Yuya
The mood wasn't perfect to start with, it got worse on the way back from the duel, though thankfully nobody said much, not even Yugo, Yuto or Yuri.
But while it did feel like forever, we got home very soon.
Futaba and Kusanagi were already there.
"Don't tell me there was already an argument between you and the new allies.", she said.
"Not quite, but a little bit kinda.", Mayoi answered and then told the whole story.
"I see.", Kusanagi said, "The feeling of something being to good to be true would be rising up again after a while of lucky circumstances like these."
"But how are we gonna prove we're not traitors, since we probably don't have time to spill everything about ourselves.", Yukari asked.
"We could do it this way, you will duel alongside Mayoi whenever there's a chance, since you'd be more hesitant to betray a childhood friend and I will fight alone when no allies are needed, so my betrayal moves will be less harmful once they theoretically come to happen." , Naoki suggested.
"He may have heard that I know Mayoi from me asking around.", Yukari said.
"Yeah, take advice from the obvious traitor.", Yuri said.
"Yuri doesn't seem to trust advice from one of the betrayal suspects, but if we decided to take Roget's dare -and he only said the new allies probably wouldn't suffice-, we should take the risk and fight with them as we would with fully trustworthy ones.", I said.

"Those adults are Futaba Miyabino and Shoichi Kusanagi, Shoichi has helped me since the beginning, more as a hacker than a duelist, but that will change in the upcoming fight. And Futaba is the adoptive mother of Mayoi."
"Ah, I see now.", Naoki said, "My name is Naoki Shima. For a while I pretended to be the dueling clubs fool, but I'm actually not that bad. I was Green Jackpot, however in the serious duels, I will go by Lonely Brave and duel with a Gatling Dragon Deck. Still Gambling, but better. "
"Why would you pretend to be a fool?", Kusanagi questioned.
"Very shrewd sense of Hhmor. It's gonna be hilarious when everyone finds out they're wrong, I merely have to find a good moment.", Naoki bluntly stated.
"Futaba should know me, but I'm Yukari Chiebukuro. Mayoi's friend from 10 years ago as Naoki said. I was Crystal Princess and will continue to use that handle when it gets serious. Disregarding the 'are we traitors'-stuff, why is Futaba permitting this?", she said.
"I'm still suprised she does.", Yugo said.
"I can only tell that Mayoi and Yuya, the two it concerns the most. ", Futaba dodged the question, "However what about your personal situation?"
"My familiy is a bit lenient on when I come back, since I'm meeting a friend, I've last seen 10 years ago and was only briefly here yesterday. They don't know what I'm actually doing. ", she answered.
"I'm not telling them the truth either.", Naoki answered.
"As one would normally expect. If you're gonna work with us we should install the Action Duel System on your duel disks.", Kusanagi said and both handed him theirs.
"We do hope that you're taking this situation seriously, even if we're not gonna give you the usual grown-up, 'don't do this'-talk.", Futaba added.
"I'm confident they will.", Yusaku said.
"Strangely enough, a faithful team member would be more likely to not take this seriously than one that intends to stab us in the back.", Yuto said.
"I thought we weren't gonna think of this uncomfortable situation, because going crazy over it is half the damage, and gloomy thought here can only bite all of us in the back .", Yugo reminded him.
"If that is all, then let's start with the install or if there is something we have to ask of them, let's ask them while we have some more practice duels. We can't allow ourselves to waste time while Hanoi might attack in any moment."
"Those questions would obviously be, how I was a victim of the incident of 10 years ago and all the crazy stuff Chihiro had been talking about and that Yukari already knows .", Naoki said.
"As you are the obviously more risky ally it would only make sense, if you were to divulge it first. ", Mayoi said.
"Didn't expect her to say that.", Yugo said, "And Yuri is gonna say something about me not being smart or cynical either."
"Ah, phooey, taking my chances away.", Yuri muttered.
"And that sounds more like something Ai would say.", Yugo noted.
"I unfortunately have to admit, that it makes sense.", Naoki said, "I can say this, we had to endure very cruel experiments after being kidnapped, it involded dueling with various decks and we were denied food and drink if we didn't do well. We also had to use a power we were charging up to create cards on command. Also an Ai was created after our image, mine was a green one named Aqua."
"I will not make the obvious insensitive comment about denied food to him. Not that he would hear it.", Yuri said.
"Does not contradict what Aoi said. And Revolver said he used the power of a red AI named Tenebrae. Which would indicate, they are in Group of two, the remaining being Earth and Light and each carry the Latin name of the other Attribute.", Yusaku noted.
"And I saw people that looked like todays Knights of Hanoi do the kidnapping.", Naoki added.
"Then can SOL really be the culprit as Revolver claimed?", Mayoi asked, somewhat hopefully.
"It can, sorry.", I said, "What if Hanoi was made up of Traitors of SOL and victims of the incident taking revenger together? I can't believe I am the one making such a messed up prediction."
"But it does make sense. We don't know for sure if it is the case, but is actually very likely.", Yuto said.
"It seems the download has finished.", Kusanagi said.
"Message incoming.", Yusaku's duel disk buzzed.
"It's the Hanoi Messenger." , he said.
"Weird that the guy who messages you about the Hanoi attacks, calls now that we talked about the raw basics .", Naoki said.
"You do realize that hurts your and my credibility, right?", Yukari noted, "And being the one who points it out merely makes you a bad hypothetical mole."
"Even weirder, the person knows it's inside the destroyed and closed of area of Link VRAINS, which would imply it's a traitor of Hanoi.", Yusaku said.
"That would be of no harm to us so we can wait with verifying that theory. I also installed the program onto Naoki's and Yukari's duel disk that allows them to call us as an aid when they fight. use it well. I will stay back until you do being the one in the Chair as you say.", Kusanagi said.
"Time to enter the empty VRAINS.", Yusaku said.
"Good choice not telling that Naoki about Futaba, as a Charimsa Duelist under what kind of are the enemy forces, which not even Yukari knows, no meed to tell them everything right of the bat, even if we avoid going insane over this. But which one of us will go first in the battle?", Yuri asked.
"I know Yugo did not duel very often yet, however I still lack the pendulum version of Dark Rebellion,
and we should keep each other at a somewhat even Level.", Yuto said.

First of all, I hope Chihiro isn't as unsympathetic anymore or a character that works in that role, the Yusacrew definetly hasn't easily forgiven him yet, even if Mayoi does pity him somewhat, but even Yuya realizes that Chihiro has to do some of the work himself if he really isn't with Dusktopia's side. (and it makes sense for the two and Izuku to be goody two shoes that want to believe him)
And DT himself knows that Chihiro is kind of a coward with a way too strong deck, but hopes to somehow weaponize that/believes his betrayal isn't gonna happen.
Speaking of that, what do you think of Naoki and Yukari? Not only on obvious/less obvious/no betrayal (though I want to know the guesses on that front as well) but their presentation in feneral in this chapter of course too.
Random side fact: each of the three duels here was one turn longer than the last, the first was 7, the 2nd 8 and the last one 9 turns long
