Chapter 24: Chapter 24
PCPD
It had been weeks since her arrest and Amelia Joffe sat cuffed to a dingy interrogation table at the PCPD, now that her visit with her lawyer over, she was waiting on her transfer to Pentonville, to await her trial. How had things come to this? How had all her hard work had been destroyed so quickly. Not one of her plans to make Angela/Sam pay had worked the way they were supposed to. First Angela's stupid friend was able to prove her perfect forgeries were in fact fake, then Jason Morgan figured out that Mark was helping her. They had even figured out that she not Sam had removed the funds from her father's business accounts to try and make it look like her father widow was a thief, so she was also in trouble for filing a false police report.
Mark had failed her. Once he was arrested, he spilled every dirty little secret, every trick she's tried to get that bitch to pay and now he had turned state's evidence. Her one-time friend and helper were going to testify against her to save his own ass. Some friend he turned out to be. He was the reason she was sitting here right now. Well, that wasn't entirely true, she had been arrested for Angela's shooting, the bitch had survived and fingered her as the shooter. Her perfectly put together plan to pin Angela's death on the dowdy nutcase of a nurse had failed because Angela had the audacity to survive. She would get away with murdering her father once again.
Amelia had failed her father once again and now there was nothing left for her. Her lawyer had said the evidence against her was overwhelming, she might never see the light of day again. Her life was over, Angela, or Sam as she was called now had won and Amelia Joffe would later, after seeing how badly her trial was going, finally agree to plead guilty to all the charges and take responsibility for her actions in a court of law and be sentenced to 25 to life, closing this chapter of Sam's life for good.
Courthouse
Today was the day, Judge Harper had called, the results were in. Lucky and Jason were asked to join the judge in his chambers, where he would finally let them know who Jakes father really was. Jason was nervous, he wasn't sure what he would do if Jake turned out to not be his son. It was just this morning after all the confusion and uprooting he had had in his short life, Jake had finally called him Daddy, and if Jason wasn't his father, how would he explain it to that little boy? So here he sat just outside the judge's chambers; Sam's hand tightly gripped in his for support. A child advocate had already removed Jake and would sit with him until he could be handed over to the father that was revealed by the test. Jason bowed his head and prayed that it was him.
Lucky was also waiting outside the judge's chambers; he was also praying that the son he lost would be found again and come home with him. When he received the summons for his DNA, he had thought it was a cruel joke, but he guessed the joke was on Liz now. If he turned out to be the father there was no way he was letting that bitch anywhere near his kids again. If Liz had really been lying to two men for the last year, she didn't deserve to be a mother. What kind of person was his ex-wife? Had she always been like this and he just missed it?
Finally, the Judge opened his door, "Mr. Morgan, Mr. Spencer please join me." Jason, Sam and Lucky followed Judge Harper into his office, Jason's grip on Sam's hand tightened. Here it was the moment of truth. The judge turned and faced them, holding a white envelope in his hand.
"Now I know this is highly unusual. The boy in question has had not one, but three paternity tests and it appears that even after all this time not one of them was true proof of parentage. I can assure all of you that the results given in this office are one hundred percent accurate. I had an officer of the court oversee the entire process, no one has tampered with or switched anything involving this test. So, are you ready for your answers?" Judge Harper asked them. Both men were staring at the white envelope in the judge's grip. Each potential father nodded, they both just wanted this over.
"Ok, then here we go." Judge Harper tore open the envelope and pulled out a single sheet of stark white paper, "In the case of Jacob Martin Spencer, Jason Morgan you are not a match, Lucky Spencer you are with 99.99 percent accuracy the father of the child in question. Now I consider this matter settled, there will be no retests, is that understood?" Judge Harper gave them both a level gaze, showing them that he meant this matter was finished, there would be no recourse.
"Yes" was Jason's curt answer. He turned to Lucky and said in a tightly controlled voice, that didn't waver, "Congratulations Lucky, you always were his father, I was just given the privilege of being in his life for a short while." When Jason finished, he turned to Sam, "Let's go home, I need to hold my daughter." And then they were gone.
Lucky turned back to the judge and politely thanked him and then he too left, but he was going to get his son, his son not Jason's. His little boy was his again. He felt for Jason, but he couldn't contain he own happiness at having his son back. The child advocate was waiting just outside the room with Jake, as soon as he walked through the door, Lucky made a bee line for them. He took Jake into his arms, held him tight and cried. And poor little Jake, he was once again a confused and frightened boy that had no idea how his life had changed once again, all because he had the misfortune to be born to Elizabeth Webber Spencer.
Jason had made it out of the courthouse, all the way to his truck and was now enclosed inside it with Sam sitting in the passenger seat. He was staring off into space, tears slowly sliding down his cheeks. Sam leaned to his side and pulled her husband into her arms, "He's not mine, Sam, how could she do this?" She could hear the pain and anguish in his voice as he plead with her to explain how someone he trusted could cause him this much pain. He needed her to tell him how his friend could play with his heart like this, to lose a child was the greatest pain of all and someone he had once cared about had done this to him.
"I don't know baby; I really don't know." While she comforted her husband, Sam decided that Liz needed a good come to Jesus moment, and she knew just the person to deliver it to the bitch, herself. Liz had messed with Jason for the last time, she would make sure of it. Maybe she would even enlist Carly to help her.
Penthouse- hours later
Jason was upstairs spending some much needed father daughter time with Emma and Sam was downstairs talking with Sony and Carly. She was explaining everything that Liz had done to get Jason for herself, "The results came back, Lucky is Jakes father. He was devastated, Sonny. I have never seen Jason like that, except when we thought Michael was dead. I don't know how to help him, right now all he wants to do is hold our daughter." She told them, sadly.
"Eventually Jason is going to have to confront Elizabeth, there is no getting around that. She really did a number on him. Letting both Lucky and Jason believe that Jake was theirs for the better part of a year is one of the craziest things I ever heard. How could she do that to them? When I ran into Lucky afterwards, he told me that he has no plans to let her anywhere near the children, he wants to get a restraining order against her. Maybe even commit her to Rose Lawn, he thinks that her obsession with Jason has caused a mental break." Carly told them, she didn't really believe that Lizabitch had a break with reality, she was always this crazy it's just that she was good at hiding it. "I suspect she's going to come here at some time to try and get Jason to forgive her. So, you better watch out for that."
Sam sighed, "Yeah, I thought the same thing. I'm not sure she will ever give up on trying to get Jason to love her. But if she comes here, I've got a beat down waiting." Sam got up from the couch and went into the kitchen to get a drink. While she was there, she heard pounding on the penthouse door, she could take a guess who that was. Knowing that it was probably Liz, Sam couldn't stop her next thought, that didn't that woman have a job or something else to do, that didn't involve barging into their home and causing a scene?
By the time she re-entered the living room, Sonny had already answered the door, and there stood the cause of all their pain. Elizabeth. Sam hated being right when it came to her. As she got closer, she could hear Liz arguing with Sonny and Carly, trying to get past them to talk to Jason. Sam walked over to her and backhanded her. Liz gasped and cradled her cheek, covering up the bright red handprint that Sam had left behind. "Get out you, bitch. Jason doesn't want to see you, he doesn't want to talk to you, and you are not welcome here anymore." Sam told her, as Liz glared at her.
"Jason and I have a connection, Sam. We- "she started, but Sam didn't let her finish, slapping her again, she reminded her, "You don't have a connection you crazy bitch, you are not friends and you will never darken our door again." Liz stunned by the extra slap, didn't even fight Sam when she grabbed her by the arm and yanked her to the door. Sam shoved her out of the penthouse and into Milo's waiting arms. "Get her out of here, she is never to enter this building again." Milo, being the good guard that he was, just nodded.
"Wait." Jason suddenly said from behind them, Liz smiled gratefully at him, until she heard his next words, "I can't believe I actually thought we were friends. You used me, lied to me, and ripped my heart out. I loved that little boy! I made sacrifices for him that were never mine to make, all because you wanted what you couldn't have. Me." Liz, teary eyed, tried to interrupt but Jason silenced her, "Shut up and stop your crying. I don't ever want to see you, talk to you, or have anything to do with you again. You are a conniving bitch and any ties that we had were severed when that test came back that Jake belonged to Lucky. Your lies are over. Milo get her out of here." With that Jason closed the door in Liz's shocked face. He would never have anything to do with Elizabeth Webber Spencer ever again, all she had done was cause him pain.
Liz stood outside Jason's door, shocked to her core; he had written her off. Tears streamed down her face, she couldn't believe it, Jason had just kicked her out of his life. She would never get him back now. "Come on Ms. Spencer. It's time to go. Mr. M says you to leave, so I got to escort you out if the building."
Liz let out a sob, trying to garner sympathy from him, "He's so mad. I've never seen Jason so mad before. But he'll eventually forgive me, he always does. He just needs time to understand that I did this for us. You'll see he'll forgive me; he has to." She told him tearfully, as he escorted her onto the elevator. Milo couldn't believe this woman. She had lied to everyone for the last year and caused so much pain. Once on the ground floor, he just kept walking, if Liz wanted to think that Jason would forgive her someday that was none of his business, his job was just to make sure she never stepped foot in this building again. When he finally deposited the crying woman outside he said in a clipped tone, "Mr. M doesn't want you to come back, so please don't." he then walked away, leaving her sobbing on the steps of Harbor View Towers.
