Chapter 20- Danny's Birthday

"Thank you for coming," Sam said when she let Elizabeth in. She shut the door behind her. "After our history, and everything with Jake… Thank you for all you've been doing for Willow."

"I care about Willow," Elizabeth said. "She helped so much with Aiden. And I like to think we've gotten over our past. We both made mistakes. And I most certainly wouldn't hold any of it against Willow."

Sam brought Elizabeth into the living room where Willow, Scout, Lulu, and Charlotte sat. Scout had been asking a lot of questions as to why they weren't at home. Overall, she took it pretty good, but didn't seem to believe them that it wasn't really Danny who returned. But she didn't put up a fuss, at least for the time being, Willow assumed because she was still doped up on pain medication. They held back from telling her about the rape though, just that he was a bad man pretending to be their brother.

Elizabeth ending up going down to the basement to talk to Willow and Charlotte. Willow thought this was best since Dante and Lulu's room seemed to be a little more soundproof than the rest of the house.

Charlotte didn't seem to want to talk too much at first. She just listened as Willow told Elizabeth how she'd been doing. She mentioned that it really helped having Sam and Scout staying there but she was worried about Jax and Drew.

"Your moms thought it would help if I shared my story with you," Elizabeth said. "I first came to Port Charles to live with my gram when I was fourteen. And I was probably the most rebellious teen you could find."

Charlotte scrunched her face. "Really?"

"I would never picture you rebellious…" Willow said.

"I was awful," Elizabeth continued. "I smoked. I was always in people's faces. But then when I was fifteen on the way home from a Valentines Dance… I was attacked from behind. A stranger violently raped me. I was a mess. My clothes were ripped. Lucky found me and took me home. I was so shaken up that I didn't want to report it. Lucky convinced me to let Bobbie check me over, but unfortunately that was after I showered. I just didn't want to deal with it. I wanted to forget it ever happened. But once I was able to talk about it and lean on my friends and loved ones, I knew I wasn't alone. I'm a different person to this day. Not because of the rape. But because I overcame it. You can't let the rape define you, because that just gives power to your abuser. What defines you will be becoming a stronger person through this. It's okay to accept help. Pushing those you love away will make things so much harder. And Willow, I really encourage you to allow me to turn your evidence in. That way he won't do this to anyone else."

Willow nodded and said barely above a whisper, "I give my permission."

Just before Elizabeth left, Willow heard her say to Sam and Lulu and that she might talk to Kevin about giving her psychiatry lessons. The island needs a female therapist and after talking to Willow and Charlotte made her realize she wants to help young girls in similar situations she was in when was younger.

GHGHGH

Sam and Scout continued to stay at Jax's place all week while Jax, Drew, and now Dante continued the search for Matteo, with Curtis and Spinelli's assistance. Jax and Drew would take breaks to spend time with Willow, Josslyn, and Scout while Sam would take over the search. Scout was weaning off her pain medication and started asking to go home to her own bed. Willow had been sleeping with Sam and Scout each night and her nightmares were becoming fewer and far between. Sam came with some good news… though Willow couldn't help feeling jealous… that Kristina was pregnant again and Spinelli and Maxie were engaged. Everyone was marrying and having babies around her, and Cam and Joss were getting married that weekend. They decided against a long engagement, they just wanted family and a few friends to attend.

Rocco finally came home but was extra quiet and kept to himself. Dante ended up sharing a room with him when he wasn't out looking for Matteo while Charlotte continued sleeping with Lulu.

They were really running out of food at this point. None of the parents in the house would eat at all, and Willow give most of hers to Scout.

Though Sam tried to hide it around Willow and Scout, Willow knew that Sam was bothered with Danny's birthday approaching, and especially since it was the day of the wedding. It would be the first day since the rape that Willow would be leaving Jax's house, but she wanted to be there for Josslyn… she couldn't resent her sister for being happy, none of this was Joss' fault. And she was honoured when she asked her to be a bridesmaid.

For a couple that wanted a small wedding, they sure had a large wedding party. Jake stood up with Cam as best man, while Aiden, Michael, Spencer, and Rocco were the groomsmen. Emma was maid of honour and next to her stood the bridesmaids—Trina, Willow, Charlotte, and Julie. The flower girls were Avery, Donna, Scout, and Violet while Noah and Jonah were the ring bearers. Jason, Elizabeth, Monica, and Audrey occupied the front row of the right side of the church with Jeff, Carolyn, Steve, Finn, and Hayden behind. Then sat Drew, Sam, Ned, and Brooklyn. And behind them Kevin, Laura, and Nikolas (Cameron still considered them family although he embraced the Quartermaines as well. Plus, Nikolas brought Avery)

On the left, Carly and Bobbie sat in the front row with Jax's empty seat. Behind them sat Dante, Lulu and Lucas (whose face was rather blank and he was extra quiet), with Chase, Kristina, TJ, and Molly behind (while Stella babysat Lexie, Ruthie, and Wesley).

Everyone rose when Jax walked in with Josslyn. He kissed her cheek then sat beside Carly and winked at her. She held his hand and leaned against his arm. Willow hadn't spent much time with Carly but what she knew about her from Sam and Josslyn, she hoped she wouldn't hurt her dad.

Jake and Emma kept smiling at each other, and Emma blushed.

After Cameron and Josslyn exchanged their vows, Father Coates pronounced them man and wife. But just as they kissed, the doors at the back of the sanctuary swung open revealing fake Danny/Matteo standing there with Diane.

Everyone gasped and whispers filled the room. Sam looked up at Willow and Scout, then rose to her feet, balling her hands into fists. Drew and Jax's faces went rigid. Willow felt her body start to shake.

"Danny has an announcement to make," Diane said.

Matteo grinned. "Today is my eighteenth birthday. Diane and I have just signed the papers. I am officially the ruler of Wyndemere and Spoon Island."

"You've got to be kidding me," Spencer blurted out.

Sam tried to make her way over to him, but Drew held her back. "Stay the hell away from my daughters!"

Lulu hurried over to Charlotte while Dante walked over to Matteo pulling out some handcuffs. "Matteo Marchesi, you're under arrest—"

"You can't arrest Danny," Diane said. "He's Alexis' true heir and our only hope."

"Only hope!?" Jax glared at Matteo.

Michael stomped over to Diane and Matteo. "Get the hell out of here. I witnessed what you did to Willow, and I will not let you do it again."

Sam moved to the front of the church and pulled Willow and Scout close to her. Jax and Drew made their way to the back of the church.

"I don't want them to arrest Danny," Scout said looking up at Sam. "I want to go see him."

"NO," Sam said in a low voice. "He's not Danny…"

"What do you mean he's our only hope?" Drew asked.

"I have Dichlorvos, an insecticide," Matteo said. "It can kill the locusts."

"He's already killed some of them," Diane said. "It really works."

"I also have seeds and lots of them," Matteo added. "So, we won't starve."

Drew set his hands on his hips. "And how do you just happen to have the remedy for our locust problem?"

"Who cares where he got it if it's going to save our lives!" Lucas yelled out. "That's your son."

"He is not my son," Drew said.

"Drew, how could you say that?" Monica said, walking over and wrapping an arm around Matteo. "I was wondering why Danny wasn't in the wedding."

"We can't just starve to death," Lucas said.

"I'm not just going to hand over the island to him when his own parents claim it's not him," Nikolas said.

"I ran a DNA test," Lucas said. "He's Danny."

"No, he's not!" Sam shouted. "Danny would never do what this jerk did."

"Everything is already signed over to Danny," Diane said. "He's moved into Wyndemere and says all the locusts will be killed by Monday. Then he'll plant the seeds."

Scout stomped her foot. "I want to go see Danny!"

"I have a lot of work to do," Matteo said. "I will keep everyone informed."

He turned and left with Diane. Willow burst into tears.

"Oh, Willow, it's okay," Sam said wiping her tears away with her thumbs. "We'll figure this out."

"If he's really who you say he is, Sam," Nikolas said. "And he's moved into Wyndemere, then I need to get Ava and Nikky out of there."

"And Dad and Leo too," Sam said.

"Dad and Leo are in my care," Lucas said. "You're the one that wanted to get rid of Dad the minute he was mind-mapped."

Sam turned to Lucas. "Are you mind-mapped too?"

Lucas laughed in response.

"Well, we're not going back to Wyndemere with him there," Chase said, squeezing Kristina's hand.

"You can stay with us until you figure things out," Molly offered.

"Okay, everyone," Drew said, raising his voice. "The important thing to do is not panic. We'll figure out living arrangements."

Spencer groaned. "I want to go back home."

"I'll go get Ava and Nikky," Nikolas said. "Avery, you stay with Spencer. Maybe once he kills the locusts and gets the seeds planted, we can take him out."

If only it were that simple…
