INUYASHA
CHAPTER 21: POWER UNLOCKED
Running as fast as he could, Inuyasha barrelled down the halls and out the front doors of his brother's shiro to the courtyard. What he saw, had him freeze mid-stride and his mouth fell open at the sight of Kagome's light reaching up into the clouds. Next thing he knew, Sesshomaru was at his side; worry written all of his face. He had never seen Sesshomaru's mask fall, but here he was. Inuyasha decided not to comment on it. Instead, shifting closer to Sesshomaru and place a clawed hand on his shoulder.
"Sesshomaru...What happened? I heard you say something about your sons..." Inuyasha inquired, hoping that his brother's answer was not what he was thinking. Sesshomaru's eyes snapped to Inuyasha and that was his answer. Inuyasha's breath hitched and nodded, letting Sesshomaru that he understood. His nephews had really been kidnapped.
Another pulse of energy surrounded them, more powerful than before as Kagome continued to levitate higher and her hair floating around her. Her eyes were shut, as if she were just sleeping. Her back was positioned in a deep arch and her arms were outstretched at her sides. Everyone just stared in awe at their lady as she continued to pulse energy around them.
Stepping forward, Inuyasha tried to keep calm as he approached Kagome, slowly. "Kagome! Please! You need to come back down so that we all can search for them!" Inuyasha pleaded, but went unheard. Grief flowed through him. "Kagome..." It was a whisper. Begging her to listen.
SESSHOMARU
Suddenly, Kagome's figure shot upright, eyes glowing and her reiki exploded, sending everyone and everything flying. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were flat on their backs from the blast of unchecked, raw power. Kagome descended back to the ground, feet landing softly on the grass. The force of her power continued to grow making gravity bend to its will, shaking everything; even the earth. The crushing weight of her power rendered everyone immobile, even for Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru managed to get to his knees, though it was extremely difficult. He then heard bones cracking and popping. His head snapped to Kagome as he watched in horror at what was really happening.
Kagome's face elongated into a snout, black fur grew all over her, her arms and legs grew in length as her hands and feet turned into paws. Her body grew even larger and a long black tail grew. She was suddenly engulfed in a dark purple cloud of youki. The cracking and popping of bones continued, then whimpering could be heard by everyone.
When the youki cleared, it revealed an enormous black inuyoukai. Sesshomaru eyed the female inu daiyoukai curiously. She has sky blue demon markings, similar to his own, and midnight black fur. She stood 70 feet fall and was 65 feet long. Her head hung low to the ground, body shook, and tail between her legs. Then he noticed the purple crescent moon on her neck and his eyes grew wide with shock.
Sesshomaru got up and called upon his youki. He quickly transformed into his white demon form. He stood 100 feet tall and 80 feet long. He padded his way over to Kagome and leaned the side of his head into hers for comfort.
She whimpered again and leaned into his gentle touch, even in his true form. Kagome lifted her head, realizing that everyone was staring at her. Then snapping her eyes back to Sesshomaru, horror within them. Leaning back on her hind legs, she howled loud, full of rage. Sesshomaru howled with her. They were calling upon their loyal subjects to transform with them, and they did. Those that had a true form transformed. They all howled and roared, feeling their lord and lady's pain.
KAGOME
Kagome's large blue eyes met Sesshomaru's red ones for just a moment before she picked up the faint scent of Katsu and Ryusaki. Sesshomaru was able to scent them as well.
In a flash, Kagome broke into a dead sprint in the direction that their scents were coming from. She was fast, too fast. Stretching her body as far out as she could to make her strides longer, faster. Her paws were like thunder, pulling up dirt in their wake. Her teeth were huge, fangs going curving over her lower jaw. Her snout pulled back, opening her mouth slightly and let out the most shuddering snarl as she ran.
She heard Sesshomaru catch up to her, keeping pace with her and snarling just as viciously. She could smell the poison coming from his mouth and was suddenly grateful that she wasn't his enemy.
SESSHOMARU
***They couldn't have gotten to far, Kagome. I can feel Kai catching up to us. We should wait for him. That way we can have an ally in the sky to make finding our sons easier.
***You're right...It would make the process faster.
They came to a stand still and waited for Kai to find them. It didn't take him long, only a few minutes. Kai was in his true form of a very large Phoenix. His flames were hot and rage fueled.
"My Lord...My Lady...I came to find you as soon as I heard what happened! How can I help?" Kai asked with a deep bow.
***Kai. I need you to fly ahead. Report back to us immediately if you see or hear anything!
"Of course, My Lord. At once." Kai said and took to the skies, flying far into the distance.
Sesshomaru pads his way to Kagome and sits down next to her. She closes the distance between them, shoulder to shoulder, and sits down as well. Her ears fall back and lets out a pain filled whimper while leaning her head down onto Sesshomaru's neck. As a father, her husband, and her mate, he feels her pain. Leaning his head down over her, his ears fall back against his head and returns a whimper.
Inuyasha finally catches up with them, Kikyo with him. Sesshomaru looks at them and makes the most pitiful huff.
INUYASHA
"I've never seen Sesshomaru act like this before...He's always been so...So...So coarse, aloof, stoic, cruel...Never letting his expressionless mask fall from his face..." Inuyasha said as he stared at Sesshomaru and Kagome huddling together. In all honesty, he was worried. The raw emotion coming off of both of them made him nervous and he didn't really know what to do.
"You have to understand, Inuyasha...He's a new father. He's also very inexperienced with being around people, being a father, being a mate, and expressing himself. He's old and was so set in his ways for so long, but when Kagome walked into his life, everything changed." Kikyo said with understanding. "You're a father yourself, Inuyasha. I'm sure that you would be the same way he is right now if something like this were to ever happen to any one of our children." She stated and he nodded his understanding, but didn't say anything.
"It's so strange to see Kagome as a gigantic black dog demon. I knew she was powerful, but this is something else! I mean, demon powers and miko powers are complete opposites! They're suppose to conflict and fight one another. Not become one within the same being." Kikyo said immensely confused.
"I'd have to agree, Kikyo. It is strange. I mean, I can feel the raw power coming off of her, it's almost crushing. (sad sigh) Anyway...Let's get going. I want to find my nephews..." Inuyasha said, resolve laced in his voice.
KAGOME
Kagome's heart hurt as she quietly whimpered into Sesshomaru's soft silver fur at his neck. Sesshomaru leaned into her, letting out soft soothing purrs to try to comfort her. He knew it wasn't working but he didn't know what else to do. He's never been very good around women or how to handle their emotion but Kagome appreciated him for trying.
Sesshomaru turned his face to hers and licked her tears away rumbling deep in his chest. She yipped and snuggled up to him again.
***Come, my love...Let us go find our pups.
***Yes...Thank you, Sesshomaru...For letting me take a minute to collect myself...
***Do not thank me, my love...You are their mother, as I am their father. Believe me...I wanted to break down as well, but I knew that I needed to be the one to keep myself collected for you. Do not feel bad for being angry about not having our sons at home with us.
***I love you, Sesshomaru...Kagome padded her way to him and pressed her nose against his, a canine kiss.
He closed his eyes and purred in response.
And with that, they took off in the same direction Kai went. Keeping a very fast pace with each other as their paws shook and long, sharp claws tore at the earth beneath them.
