Chapter 28 – Amazing
posted June 16th, 2020

Wotcher!

I'm writing from the beach, now, because I tried but can't sleep while trying to tan – in addition to the fact that, as a Metamorphmagus, I don't need to stay in the sun in order to tan.

Next to me is Fleur, lying languidly in the sun but not tanning either – Veela don't tan, she said with a frown.

On the other side, Hermione is sitting, covering herself in sun cream as well as Luna – we found out that the fair-skinned blonde is quite susceptible to sunburns.

The three others are in the clear water, having swallowed Gillyweed in order to fool around without needing to breathe – the research around ways to feel at home in the water having unearthed the plant's abilities.

And it even works on Veelas! Fleur had been dejected not to have thought about it during the Second Task, but ecstatic that, should the situation happen again, she'd have a non-suicidal means to get it.

Still, she was uncomfortable underwater. Not like Gabrielle: if John was underwater, she acted like a mermaid herself, moulding herself to him repeatedly. What we thought as a little girl has now grown enough to reach John's size – and that's thanks to him feeding her repeatedly.

And the curious girls around them soon imitated the procedure, taking pleasure in the new explorations it offered.

I'm not saying anything against John. He survived the Third Task, the After-Task, and deserves a breather (pun not intended).

What After-Task, you ask? Well… it seems that an unknown dark wizard had trapped the Tri-Wizard Cup as a portkey, and hindered John's contestants, in order to try to resurrect his dark lord master by using John's blood. Not very imaginative, I know. But John escaped, refused his victory in light of the man pushing him through the maze, and that left the three others (and since the moment he grabbed the Cup, he was out of the Tournament itself, and the rules didn't prevent him from leaving right then). Since Fleur was closer to the Cup when it was taken, she was deemed the winner in his stead.

And she glomped him again. Which led to us spending quality time in the Veela enclave. Saying "enclave" is a bit of a misnomer, though, because it is a group of distant houses linked together by magical portals. As such, you can visit any part of the country near those houses. Such as the small and remote beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, where we are currently lounging.

And Fleur was right. The place is amazing.

The country is amazing – not necessarily his current inhabitants, though, or the modern (and ugly) urbanized districts. But old towns and castles… as well as Beauxbatons itself… that was beautiful.

And the Veela are amazing as well. Sensual as they are, they make love like no other, even to women.

I should know.

And I'm still faithful to Charlie.

The two of us even reached an agreement: in the light of Fleur's arguments, I brought the redhead to the very beach where we are now, and left him be seduced by Fleur (and glomped, too). Now, I can be sexually satiated by the French beauty besides me without doubts, guilt, or remorse. The beauty who currently caresses my back, clearly up for more.

Amazing, I said.

To be continued in next chapter: Phoenix...

Author's Notes: Thanks for reading.

To those who wrote they wanted an update on that-other-story, I hear you. And I'm happy to say that you'll find happiness soon. Less than a week after I finish this one, in fact. As I envision a daily delivery of the few remaining chapters, it should be online this month.
