Epilogue

Aro's Pov:

As I came out of the vision I smashed my hand into the wall and a small cracked formed. Damn it, every single vision it ended the same. For hours I sat searching Alice's visions. But in every single one Isabella died. If we avoided the fight they'd come to the castle and we'd lose a lot more. If we didn't involve the wolves the wolves would fight against us. If we hid Isabella everyone would die and she would feel it and then be killed last. We couldn't save her. The only thing we could do was get her to complete the bond so we didn't lose Jasper and Jane.

She could've been my daughter. She could've been the princess. Her family were going to be strong. But we would never get the chance now. I felt like I'd lost a part of me, a small hole formed in my chest. And I felt Marcus's questioning gaze on me, so I grazed a hand over his. I had a black bond, it looked burnt and tangled. My bond with Isabella was fading.

After two days I had to consult with my brothers, we had to figure something out. So we made decision over decision, but in each scenario more and more people died. Until we brought the Cullens into the equation. This created a vision with no ending. The only one we could risk.

*after fight*

It didn't work. She was dead. Looking around at everyone's sunken and drained faces I realised what we had truly lost. Nobody looked like a vampire anymore. We all looked broken, a small wolf lay in human form shaking. The rest of the wolves tried to communicate with him but he didn't react. Jasper growled at everyone who tried to approach him except Jane. Emmett sat on the floor alone with a vacant look on his face. And I felt guilty, maybe I could've tried harder to prevent this or gave them some warning.

*Two weeks later*

The wolf boy was sick, and all the other wolves looked awful too. Brady his name was. They were trying to get him to phase to heal but he wasn't responding well to anyone. It was almost as if we didn't exist, he held a blank stare every time someone spoke to him. Jane thought Jasper could help but he had locked himself in Isabella's room. The decision had been to leave Brady outside the room with Jane and jake the puppy and hope it broke through to him. After a few initial growls, which were responded to with a whimper from both the puppy and Brady, Jasper opened the door. His face softened slightly at the three before he growled at me as I stood watching. He shoved them into the room and slammed the door with one last warning growl. Two days later Brady slowly walked out of the room and down the stairs for a snack. He didn't speak but it was progress.

After that things were moving back to some kind of normal. As much as normal as it could be with no smiling, little to no talking and an avoidance of one subject. Nobody had acknowledge she was dead yet. Demetri and Felix has been sent back to Italy, after Jasper tried to kill them. But I think he understood they couldn't deny her wishes and allowed for her family to be hurt. It seemed everyone was waiting for her to walk back through the door.

It took 6 weeks for Brady to talk, and another 12 for Jasper. He didn't understand how he was alive, and whilst he didn't want to be alive, he didn't have the instinct to seek the end. So we explained how she had created a bond between us all which kept him alive. Her soul had merged into ours.

*Three years later*

'Pa' Jane's voice screeched through the castle, before she came to a sudden stop with Brady just behind her. She nodded to me and my brothers before flitting up to Jaspers thrown. She handed him a small brown bag. Which he looked at curiously before tipping it out onto his hand which caused a small chain to slip from the bag, the chain held Isabella's engagement ring. Jasper looked up at Jane with slight tears in his eyes and he gave her a soft smile, before nodding at Brady and dismissing them both. And as we all turned back to the thrown room, a slight shimmer in the shape of a person seemed to stand behind Jasper, with a hand on his shoulder and the room felt warm for a moment.
