Chapter 22:

Being pregnant and going on a honeymoon were not two things that went great together. But, against all expectations Clary and Jace had decided to just go for it. They deserved a little rest thought the others. Not having to deal with screaming children, the couple thought it would be a great idea. They would still be able to portal right back to the New York Institute if there were to be something wrong with their kids, or the rest of their family for that matter. 'The plans for their honeymoon started developing from the moment Jace had asked Clary to marry him, but had changed constantly because they both had completely different ideas and plans when it came to where they should take some time for themselves, away from all the drama and troubles everyday life cost them. There was also the issue of a Greater Demon trying to kill them, but that sat aside, the couple had still found it hard to figure out a destination for their vacation. For the one, a nice beach vacation in Vietnam or the Maldives sounded as a great way to relax. For the other, a city trip sounded like music to their ears. So, after a lot of consideration and planning, they had decided to do a city trip and end with a few days on the beach.

And now it was finally the time that they would leave the Institute and go to their first destination, London. A city that first comes to mind when you think of a city trip, Jace had pointed out. It was different from New York. Of course, high buildings and the modern centre of the city did not really make it different, but highlights like the London Eye, the Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, were what made the city stand out from thousands of others. And overall, the city had a way different vibe to it. All cities differ from each other in a certain way, that sometimes cannot be explained through old buildings or city highlights that other cities do not have. Sometimes a city just carries a certain comfortable vibe with it that differs it from others. And that was one of the reasons why the newlywed couple had chosen this certain city.

''Noah, Abbey come say your parents goodbye!'' Izzy yelled through the Institute of New York as she hugged Clary one last time. "Oh, and Clary. I put a little surprise in your suitcase. For, you know, your first night there." She whispered, causing Clary to chuckle and giggle, lip syncing a thank you as a response. One of the perks of having your best friend being Izzy, is that Izzy did not really have a filter. Which, at some moments, she could really use. But at situations like these, her crazy and unfiltered comments lightened the sphere a bit. Izzy released Clary's hands after a few more seconds, not voluntarily though. Jace had to literally pull Izzy off Clary for others to hug her goodbye too.

"Bye mom, bye dad!" The twins yelled as they came running at their parents. Who almost fell over from the sudden energy balls jumping at their legs. Clary picked Noah up, who kissed her sweetly on the cheeks. Clary kissed him back.

"Promise you'll take care of your sister?" She asked him as she put him back on the ground, so he could jump in his dad's arms, who was waiting for him with open arms.

"I don't need protection mom. I can take care of myself." Abbey protested as she strikes a defensive pose. Holding her arms in the air and bending her knees slightly. It was a funny sight. Jace chuckled and slightly shook his head, knowing where his daughter got her attitude from. And he was damn sure that everyone in the Institute knew too. When the twins ran back off to their room to continue playing, they dragged Izzy with them, and it was Maryse's turn to say the couple goodbye. Maryse had been in London for the past couple of weeks. She too had needed a bit of relaxation. And after Jace and Clary's wedding, she had offered the London Institute to help for a few weeks. There had been random demon attacks in the city, and the Institute could use some help from other Institutes to protect their people and the people of London. Now that it was all safe there again, Jace and Clary were able to go there on their honeymoon, and Maryse was able to safely return.

"Take care of her, Jace. And most importantly; have a great time. You too deserve some free time. And be careful." Maryse told the two of them. She looked Jace in the eyes and made sure that Jace had understood what his one and most important job was on this holiday. And that was to keep his wife and not-yet born baby safe.

"I will, Maryse. Thank you for letting us go on this honeymoon. We owe you one." Jace said while hugging his adoptive mother goodbye, kissing her on the cheek as he did always. Jace knew Maryse appreciated that. Then again, what mother would not?

"Oh, Jace. You owe me multiple ones." Maryse joked as she pushed the couple outside. "Now, go. And enjoy your time together. And may we pray to the angels that something that happened last month, does not happen again. And your children and you will stay safe." She waved goodbye and shut the door softly behind the two 'newlyweds', who looked at each other and whispered at the same time. "I hope so." Which caused them to chuckle and take off, knowing that another adventure was awaiting them.

When Clary and Jace arrived at their hotel, Jace checked them in and made sure that he carried all the bags up to the hotel room. Even though Clary had told him several times she could do it herself, and he knew that, he insisted on doing it for her. He told her multiple times that it was her time to be happy, and that he had made a vow, that he would make sure to try and make Clary as happy as she could possibly be. The holiday was going to be packed with these types of little arguments. But Clary enjoyed that. She knew that she could argue with Jace, sometimes fight. She knew that he respected her, and she respected him. And that was very important to have in a relationship.

"Let's just get you upstairs. Ma pregnant lady." Jace said, which made Clary chuckle. Jace could say such random things sometimes. Random words he came to learn. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms. And what he did next, was one of the things Clary loved most about him. It was not just the kiss that made her knees tremble. That made her heart beat faster. That made her stomach go wild. No, it was the way that he would hug her while kissing her; the pulling her to him, resting one of his hands on her hips, and the other one in her neck. That made Clary forget about the rest of the world. That made her live in the moment. And that was what Jace always made her realize. It is okay to live in the moment. Because you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. That why she enjoys the little things with Jace so much. Because she knows that those crazy little things about their relationship, like joking around, or teasing, are never going to change. Clary saw the elevator doors opening and decided to tease Jace a bit. Like she had just said, she loved that about their relationship.

"Let's go" Clary said as she pulled him with her, fisting the neck of his shirt and pulling his face close to her own. When their lips almost touched, she pulled away and winked seductively. This made Jace sigh and roll his eyes. Running a hand through his hair, he stumbled after her, into the elevator. The ten seconds they had to wait for the doors of the elevators to close seemed to take centuries. As soon as the gold painted doors closed, Jace pushed Clary against the wall, putting his hand on her neck, locking her in place. Clary loved his sudden dominant behaviour and decided to act on it. She looked up to him, locking her eyes with him, and moved her hands down his stomach. She could feel his abs through his shirt. She was trying hard to not make any sound. But it felt so good. When she almost reached her destination, she stopped. She locked eyes with him once again. And turned away from him. The elevator doors opened, and she walked out, leaving Jace in absolute awe.

"I'm going to make you pay for that, Clary!" Jace yelled as he looked her all over, still not believing what she had just done. She could be such a tease.

''Well, I guess I can't get more pregnant…'' she responded while opening the door to their hotel room, looking back at Jace who was still breathing heavily in the opening of the elevator with two bags in his right hand, and one in the other. She knew somethings similarly to her statement was going to come out of his mouth as she saw a smirk forming around the corners of Jace's mouth.

''We'll see about that.'' He responded and started walking up to her. When he arrived at the door, he threw their bags into the room. He looked Clary in her eyes and picked her up, so that her legs were wrapped around his hips. He walked into the room, kicking at the door to shut it behind him…
